Found out the hard way. 2020 Blazer in my garage and the battery died, my bad I left cooler plugged in. OnStar couldn't locate it because it was in the garage with a dead battery and OnStar didnt know the procedure. Called Dealer and they even had to look up how to unlock. Got it unlocked with the handy unknown key, charged the battery, all good. Bad part is when the little plastic cover broke the retainer clip going back on and it is a paint to match part. New cover ordered, painted and all good now. Live and learn. Unplug the damn cooler. lol

It actually is a 2021 Blazer in the video. According to the owners manual you are supposed to use the front cupholder but it may work in the pocket by the gear lever as well.

Yes lol - I've never actually broke one of those covers but they can for sure be a pain sometimes.

Cup holder is not the location for the key for 2021 model year. It is the small pocket behind the gear lever

There is a chip in the key fob that the vehicle can read if it is placed in the right place - even if the key fob has no power
