- Square Enix brought the English voice actors of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to New York Comic Con ahead of the games release in early 2024! Hosted by Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Attack on Titan), the panel featured Cody Christian (Cloud Strife), John Eric Bentley (Barret Wallace), Britt Baron (Tifa Lockhart), Max Mittelman (Red XIII) and Suzie Yeung (Yuffie Kisaragi). The cast spoke about their experience with Final Fantasy, auditioning for the game, and YES, they DID react to Red XIII riding a Chocobo and Cloud cruising on a segway, which was all explained by very a special guest! 👀

While Tifa's original VA will always have a special place in my heart, I have to admit that Britt's voice fits Tifa more and she has actually become my favorite VA for Tifa.

You mean grunting for no reason and delivering terrible dialog? I realize the dialog isn't his choice, I just wish it wasn't so corny. It breaks the immersion.
I perfer Burtons more mature tone. Codys voice sounds too soft to me. He doesnt come across as tough

I miss the old cloud but this one has proved himself worthy can’t wait to watch advent children right before I play this game
Cloud is not an easy character to bring to life. I think it's easy to make him too moody and flat. Cody doesn't just nail it, he delivered my favorite vocal performance in the first game.
His insecurity playing the role in the first game (disc), to becoming more confident in himself for the second is so par for the course for Cloud. He's an absolutely fantastic pick. I think this being his first real voice acting role was super appropriate and really added to his performance as Cloud.

Matt Mercer is an excellent choice for Vincent in Rebirth! The cast is incredible!!
It was hard to imagine who would replace Steve Blum, but hearing it in game fits.
They all do such an amazing job in their roles. It's crazy that this was Cody's first ever voice acting role because he truly did a great job. The casting chose the actors perfectly for these games.
He was an actor in a popular show before I forgot the name of it though but he really improved for Rebirth

I would only disagree with Zack's new VA. Caleb is trying and making improvements, but... he's still got a long ways to go. Everyone else is fantastic.
Man tifas VA literally just is tifa. Would love to see her cosplay as tifa 😂
She already kinda is. A white top, a black skirt, the sheer socks. Heck even her earrings look like the ones Tifa has in-game

Tifa's VA and Cody don't even really have to act 😂 they just sound exactly like their characters.
Best voice cast ever assembled in a single game. The bar for fans was SO high. Everyone had imagined voices stowed away in their heads for 22+ years, and somehow this cast has satisfied just about everyone. I had always thought in decades past that it would be impossible to pull it off. But they did it.
Britt's voice is so soothing. Perfect fit for Tifa

Bentley did such a great job with Barret.
You know what i noticed, they are all dressed similarly to their characters.
Specifically Matt, Cody and Brit.
Brit is dressed like Tifa.
Matt is dressed in red like Vincent!!

I just really hope in 3rd game all cast including Sephiroth, Aeirth, Cait Sith and Cid VA they have fun each other in the future of interview.
The cast and voice directors have done such a fantastic job with the Remake series. There are so many ways this could have gone wrong and everybody is just knocking it out of the park. Looking forward to more in part 3.

It's really inspiring to hear their stories of how they all got into voice acting, especially Suzie Yeung's.
Cody is the perfect voice for cloud, a little emo but not too much, confidence but vulnerable
Got to say playing FF 7 back in the day anytime I read Clouds lines always had a voice in my head reading those lines and Cody is EXTREMELY close to what I imagined in my head
Meeting Cody is now on my budget list.
Having met him at this con, I can tell you it's worth it

You can hear the character in every VA's natural voice, except Max. He sounds nothing like the voice he conjures for Red.
The cast for these games is just perfect, theyve all done incredible work bringing these characters to life.

Had a wonderful chance to meet Suzie Young back in 2021 at Otakon. Seeing this video has me more hype for Part 2
My dad got a ps5 for christmas and im currently playing the remake for the first time 😊❤ It has been such a fun experience, cant wait for the sequel. The cast did a great job

I already bought rebirth though, I was happy to get the deluxe version; I think i will start playing it soon
@@mely1022 yeah I get it. I got a PS5 during the beginning of the year and spent 2 whole weeks playing Remake until I beat it 100%. I’m about 52% through Rebirth now but I’ve had it on hold due to other things

Not only are they so well cast, they're all doing such a great job. I love these characters and they're really bringing them to life in a way that just feels right. Kudos to everyone involved with the voicing!
Cloud's voice is perfect. As a kid who didnt have internet or kingdom hearts or anything I wondered for so long what Cloud would soundlike.
Steve Burton did great but it sounded kinda older. A little dry. This guy has a very similar voice as steve burton but it feels a lot younger and more like cloud idk. Im not sure how to say what im trying to say but Clouds voice has always been important to me and the fact that he felt comfortable for the next game makes me really happy because he deserves the love and to have fun.

Tifa and Cloud are the only ones where their normal voice sounds like their character. No acting required.
This is my second time watching this, after 2 months. It's hilarious and heartwarming. Their stories and all!

So, the only ones missing here are Aerith's, Cid's and Cait Sith's VAs. I can't wait for when all of them will be together in one panel eventually. For now, this is still pretty rad.
Also, Matt Mercer is stacking legendary role after role. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil), Levi (AoT), Law (One Piece), Jotaro (Jojo), Yusuke (Persona 5), Goro Majima (Yakuza) and, now, Vincent Valentine. What an absolutely ridiculous career. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy ❤.

I love their enthusiasm towards each other. Game is amazing, cast is absolutely amazing and I think they've all done the game more than justice. Honestly I prefer them over the old cast 🤷♂️

everyone in this cast is so talented and beautiful
I probably put 500+ hours into the OG FFVII as a teen and when I read those text boxes with character dialogue in my head each character had their own voice...
These actors have absolutely captured all of those voices, and that is testament not only to the writing of the original game which implied tone and mood through small blue boxes and clunky animations on chibi characters, but the skill of these actors for perfectly becoming those voices without ever consulting with a gamer about "how the characters should sound".
Right?! It’s funny to read everyone’s experience is about the same with voices.., except for cait. I love it, but that’s not what I expected.
I remember I made my group of friends play through it with me when I was a teen and I did most of the voices. I can attest that seohirorh was exactly what we thought he sounded like. They did an amazing job selecting va

Man cody really does get cloud. Cloud's trying to play a role. The stoic soldier and he's always trying to act like he thinks a badass soldier should. But really he is a caring vulnerable brave guy, and you really see his inner child poke through.
He's a character that was forced to grow up so fast and yet as you go through the game you slowly start to see the real cloud and his much more like an innocent boy like he was in his childhood. And the hard cold hearted soldier facarde starts to melt away. And he becomes a true leader.
I cant believe i would adore Matt Mercer even more after this panel
