I have a feeling he did that due to him assuming that it's just 'another easy Nintendo game' and that it was the game's fault that he did badly at the tutorial. Or perhaps as a "former" fighter """Pro"""", he thought he could handle it.
After watching so many TIHYDP videos I get the sense DSP is legitimately learning impaired. He constantly ignores, can't understand, or never even discovers game mechanics. Irrespective of what game developer, or genre he shows an inability to experiment and adapt. The only way he could be so confused all the time is if his I.Q. and problem solving skills are well below average. Developer's don't anticipate his grudges with games because he's too stupid. The things everyone else takes for self explanatory go over his head.
Honestly, him getting so mad at a boss (that he beat in the end, I might add) that he starts dissing the soundtrack might be the funniest thing I’ve seen from any of these compilations.
I really, really suck at fighting games and this game is no exception. I get super mad to the point where I feel like breaking something, and I know that's not healthy. But I also know it's (usually) me that sucks, and I don't blame the game for everything. To me, blaming something/someone else for all your problems is much worse than getting angry all the time. Because when you don't account for your own mistakes, you develop this feverish mentality that all problems or obstacles you encounter are of their own accord, and you wait for them to resolve themselves. That's not how life works. DSP is lucky he's able to keep himself afloat playing video games, because he can blame everything on the game without too much repercussion (except for his GF leaving him, but that's a different story). TL;DR, someone has probably said the same thing and written about it much better than I have, its 2:42am as I'm writing this, what the fuck am I doing with my life
I know, right? To this day I suck major balls at Street Fighter and I know I'm not having a lot of fun. But at least I can admit that the issue is that I'm garbage at it.
Ceaseless Greed it's funny cause after I saw him struggle against him I tried my hand at it and I'll admit I had to switch to the pro controller and he was a decent challenge but not as hard as DSP makes him out to be.
The worst thing is I feel like he makes Hedlok look harder than it is. I had no experience with Hedlok and didn't find him that bad. I admit I was playing on level 4.
I beat Headlok on my first try on level 4, I mostly just hung back and waited for him to throw out his arms to counter attack while occasionally throwing out one arm of my own to try and sneak in hits. It was stressful, but it wasn't as hard as Phil was making it out to be.
Sorry to comment twice, but I love how DSP ONLY WINS because the game is sick of his whining and gives him a bomb that causes him to win against Hedlok. I owe Hedlok one though, best salt from DSP in a fighting game ever.
Ehhh it's not quite as good as that random Deathstroke in Injustice 1 (I think). Where he gets shot to death and goes off on a five minute tirade before cutting the recording
@@No_Plays_Hand_Empty That's one loss, and to another player. This is to an AI and is a bunch of losses. Also AI is set to Normal, not even Hard, and Phil is THIS pissed off. Tastier salt than the Deathstroke fight.
Go watch him play Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. He get bodied by players who are better than him over and over again, which results in him insulting his viewers and whining about "people just spamming online". It might be the saltiest I've ever seen him get, and I do not say that lightly.
He failed to understand that the Tutorial told him the controls, but the training matches were there for him to practice and apply things he should have learned in the tutorial
I actually got the most annoyed when he started ripping on the music just because he's angry that he's bad, all while he was jamming out at the start to the title music that was basically the same concept as the credits track.
I actually thought the part about where phils like Nintendo doesn't know how to make a fucking good game. Their so out of touch just a bunch of wrikily old fucks who lost touch with gamers. It's ironic since the only decrepit old fuck who's lost touch is Phil, well if he had any touch to begin with.
Time for another gruelling gout of excuses that range from I WAS BLHAWKWAKWWKKIIING. COULDN'T DAAAAAHHDGGE, THE COMPUTER CHEATED, THIS GAME SUUUUUUCKS!
I still don't get why someone gave him a Switch. It's clear as day that he doesn't like Nintendo. Every single time he plays one of their games, he shits on the company and has been shitting on thier consoles ever since the Wii. I know he shits on every company, but he has a special hatred for Nintendo. Namedrops them at every chance, didn't bother to "cover" their E3/ Direct stuff, and blindly insists they are "out of touch" (even though their games have been consistently well-received). On another note, I'm can't help but be curious to see him fail at Mario Odyssey and see what bull shit he has to say about that, his online saltiness for Splatoon 2.
Like seriously I give props to people who can actually watch this (Phil's Playthrough not the TIHYDP) just seeing how this is only a smal portion of his playthrough is just giving me a headache. The constant bitchin is just tiresome. How much can he complain about the same exact thing over and over and over again. Like what goes through your head when you just repeat the same thing. Its obvious he doesnt like the game, so why continue to play it? Fan's usually want to watch someone enjoy a game. Not bitch and moan every single second they are playing. Dont even get me started on the tutorial part. Like Nintendo assumes people are paying attention when you play it. So why blame the game when it tells you what to do and you arent paying attention. Its like he wants the game to hold his hand every step of the way and its not. He doesnt understand that you should be learning as you go and play and improve. But no to him this is nothing more than a paycheck and its just time wasted till the next game/playthrough pops up. Maybe he should find something he enjoys because its clear Gaming is not one of them!
Why is he unable to grasp basic concepts? I legitimately don't understand unless he is literally undereducated. Even young kids should be able to pick up most game mechanics after being taught how to.
Ray Plays Games Game: "Twintelle is looking to counter your attacks. Box her in so she doesn't get the chance!" DSP: "WHAT DO I DO?! SHE KEEPS COUNTERING ME, SO WHAT'S THE POINT?!"
I like how he picked one of the hardest characters to play when first fighting in this game. *Clap clap clap clap* HEY TIPS AND TRICKS PICK SPRING MAN OR RIBBON GIRL AT FIRST
1:23:35 : "OHHH, y'know it would've helped if they put some spoken dialogue in the game and put some effort into the game development, rather than me having to FIGURE OUT that I have to read something on the screen!" DSP genuinely thinks a game should tell him that he has to look at the screen. I can't take this shit. How can someone possibly be this incompetent?
You'd think a former pro fighting game player would know more than two moves. The only thing that makes this bearable is knowing DSP won't make any money off it.
So i haven't played this or even really watched it. But even I can tell he's spamming easily dodged attacks leaving him open to counters, doesn't charge which it looks like the opponent does and those punch through his uncharged attacks, don't see him guarding, just noticed he dodges to the left when the opponent is throwing a right, how do you fuck something that simple up lol. Kinda pathetic he can't see what he's doing wrong and just blames the game.
1:49:45 - *WAAAAH!!! WAAAAAAH!!!* *I CAN'T BEAT THIS BECAUSE NINTENDO WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO GIVE ME A HARD TIME!! WAAAAAH! WAAAAAH!!!* Yeah, that about sums it up.
I played the Testpunch and really sucked at it, but I swear I figured out stuff better than Phil. I also get the feeling that lately he's been a lot more impatient and faster to throw insults at games that punish him for his mistakes... Anyway, thanks for the video, I watched part of his original uploads, but not the 250 hours of trying to beat Hedlock, kudos to you for sitting through all of that. I can't wait for his Splatoon 2 (sea) salt.
"Fuck you Nintendo. You guys took a fucking paycheck to make this. You dont know how to make a game anymore!" Says the guy who will LITERALLY be taking a paycheck to play Mario Odyssey, Metroid Prime 4, and Splatoon 2.
The Ender Engineer You know he'll still play it though, and anything bad that happens he'll just say "See? its the same shit as the first one. I told you dude" He said he wouldnt play USF2:TFC and yet he still played it, and even then made those type of comments
"She countering me, every time I go to attack she hits me instead!" Yeah funny that Phil. "She keeps counter attacking me what am I supposed to do?" Not get counter attacked. Seems like a reasonable assumption.
The fact he just keeps punching and expects everything to hit is stupid. I want to know why he keeps playing Nintendo games if he hates them that much.
So, listen. I normally don't comment on these videos, they're just entertaining to me. But he complains so much in this video that it's even hard to enjoy the TIHYDP. Does he seriously think whining about the game and complaining about cheating and shit is entertaining? Who is entertained by this except people who want him to fail miserably? Also I started playing Street Fighter and that game doesn't teach you shit with it's tutorials either. So Phil can just cry his worthless tears about that. That's just how fighting games are, a lot of learning comes from playing.
It would seem he believes that you get views by posting vids of popular games as soon as they release. He doesn't seem to be aware of how overall production quality and good commentary affect views. Also Phil seemingly adopted the nickname "the king of hate" at some point, regardless of it being used as a way to mock him, so he might think him being hateful is the appeal of his content.
Both of those are kind of true, in a way. Of course, Phil can't capitalize on those philosophies properly. --- New games are the ones people wanna see, they get more views and things. But, just as I imagined people who see him for new content, the San Andreas playthrough of his that I randomly found I heard this idiot whine and complain so much some ways in that I went to a new video and blacklisted him. (Found out it's popular to hate him a little later, haha.) I gave him more views than anyone who tuned in for this playthrough too, I guarantee it. At the start of this playthrough he's already SUPER whiny and annoying. It's not his hate that gets to me, either. Being hateful about a game can be very popular, the Game Grumps do it a lot, I usually find it entertaining when they do. It's the way he hates on the game - when the game didn't do anything wrong in particular, he is just losing/he fucks up, that's when he hates on the game, it makes it obvious that the only reason he hates on the game is because he has the mentality of a five year old who whines about the game not just rolling over and letting him win.
I would agree there are better ways to do it though. Just play games you want to and have fun. I nominate him as the King of Whiny Spoiled Brats over the King of Hate.
1:51:20 Holy shit, I have NEVER seen anyone fuck up this much on a Nintendo game before. Former Pro Fighting Game Player MY ASS. The salt here was just amazing, he was also playing on normal mode too, right? How embarrassing...
"The Switch is not a good console" Well, at least Nintendo is trying to do something different with their consoles, instead of just shitting out anoher line of inferior pcs.
Love how TH-cam's game-detection system thinks that ARMS is somehow Mario Kart 8, despite it clearly being a different property of Nintendo! O_o Also that salty rage from DSP at 1:45:56 though :P
Phil is such an anomaly. Of course the final boss in a fighting game is a cheater. That's the entire fucking point. For someone who prides himself on the fact that he used to be a Professional Street Fighter player you'd think he'd know that.
Senator Painis he got handheld thru it since its turn based and he got time to read his chat for it. He didnt got far tho, only played like an hr or two so it was still easy enough.
Wow those THIYDP pop up so fast at this point, its amazing. Thanks Ontan for ur hard work, hope ur mental health is still ok after watching DSPs qualiti khantent in order to make this video.
God Damn. I'm not good at ARMS, but I managed to find out how to work around every AI opponent at Level 4 ON MY FIRST RUN OF LEVEL 4. Phil isn't paying attention to anything in this game. He has no awareness of his surroundings and as a result, constantly dashes into and gets hit by bombs and then wonders what hit him. He also can't recognize any patterns in the AI and work around them, such as if they have rush, they'll use it whenever you whiff a punch or go for a grab, so you can trick them into wasting their rush by whiffing on purpose.
9:50 She dodges no matter what you do... Except one lucky counter, you hit her there. So, use more counters! 24:50 Seizing defeat from the jaws of victory!
Legit question...does DSP need glasses? On several occasions he would say "The punch went through their body!" When you can clearly see that the punch was just angled in way that it just missed the body.
SlimeBeherit no, the hurtboxes are just not very good in this game. character models are deceptively larger than the hurtboxes. in some instances he's completely off base but I have had attacks that whiff even though they look like they connect.
Its like he feels emasculated by a videogame. Which is bizarre. The game isn’t trying to purposefully ridicule him, how can someone with a functioning brain think otherwise?
It honestly blows my mind that anybody can actually lose to hedlok. I beat him on my first try also using ninjara and I found him to be such a pushover. Classic phil for ya.
hey does anyone know where i can find a clip of phil reading his donations out from this stream? my friend made a funny donation to troll phil and i want to watch his reaction again the donation was about phil making a "solo male video"
I haven't played this game so the controls and such aren't known to me, so this is a legitimate question. How/why does it seem like he's constantly punching FAAAAAAAR to the left or right side of the screen, nowhere near the opponent? Are they dodging and it just doesn't look like it, or is he just swinging nowhere near the mark?
When using motion controls, you can twist your hand to curve your punches. My guess is that Phillip doesn't know that, and curves his hands without noticing. Add that to the fact that movement is an important part of the game, and the AI/Opponents are always on the run, so Phil will punch where they are in the moment, rather than where they'll be.... And you get the misses. With button controls you can do the same, but from what I know, it's harder and locks your movement. You can see he's completely stationary when attacking after the change. (Which leaves him open, he gets punished for that and proceeds to complain and blame the developers.)
it pisses me off how every big title game he plays, he calls them badly designed and buggy cause he apparently does so well but the game cant keep up with his "genius".
"whhhhhuuuuuutttt i've been playing this practice mode for 10 seconds, why am I not a master yet? POORLY MADE!"
>Struggles with the tutorial
>Goes straight into Level 4 GP
tsukinoakuma lol he also chose a character he never trued in the tutorial
I have a feeling he did that due to him assuming that it's just 'another easy Nintendo game' and that it was the game's fault that he did badly at the tutorial. Or perhaps as a "former" fighter """Pro"""", he thought he could handle it.
Classic Phil
He acts like developers have meetings to figure out how they're going to screw Phil over next.
That would be amazing.
freddy mcdonald You know he has a giant plasterboard on the wall with marker scribbles all over saying enemies of the "buisness" boom and send!
freddy mcdonald that is what they are doing 😂
I pray to whatever gods may be that they do.
Oh, that must be why most bosses require you to study their patterns and you can't just wail on them!
" I myself am a former pro fighting game player"
*can't beat normal mode of ARMS*
"Former" should be bold, underlined, italicized, and in all caps.
"Pro" should be in subscript...

I hope that fan feels good spending over $300 on a Switch just for DSP to take a shit on it.
DSP reminds me of a bad guy in a Digital Homocide game. He only knows how to move forward and try to attack.
That's why you should thank god for Hideo fucking Kojima son! ;)
Honestly, him getting so mad at a boss (that he beat in the end, I might add) that he starts dissing the soundtrack might be the funniest thing I’ve seen from any of these compilations.
DSP using the motion controller is probably the most strenuous movement his body gets.
Good point, I also forgot about his grocery store outings. So never mind, DSP is going to get ripped real soon.
Dood your forgetting the incident, he was really into it
"FUCK YOU, NINTENDO! It's your fault I can't play this game very well!"

I think (hope) that they were referencing a DSP quote and not trying to be mean.
シモン深淵 I don't think you know what "hateful" means
Hedlok earned a place in the Detractor Hall of Fame after this campaign lol.
If there is one thing that should be written on DSP's tombstone its;

The game has only been out for 6 days...
Ancient DSP proverb:
"I don't get it"
As a Mechanica main this makes me very happy that she's giving Phil so much trouble at the beginning of the video.
Phil is so bad that a Nintendo game is too hard.
"The game never properly explained how to do stuff!" Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he played the tutorial on this one.

I would agree there are better ways to do it though. Just play games you want to and have fun. I nominate him as the King of Whiny Spoiled Brats over the King of Hate.
ARMS git gud rule #1: Stop jumping just for the sake of jumping.
27:57 words cannot describe the joy I get from watching my boi Spring Man completely BODY DSP.🤣🤣😂
Also 36:12 had me DYING- “HEY, HEY, HEY~!” X’DDD
1:51:20 Holy shit, I have NEVER seen anyone fuck up this much on a Nintendo game before. Former Pro Fighting Game Player MY ASS. The salt here was just amazing, he was also playing on normal mode too, right? How embarrassing...
I think Phil must have been a real hit in his Kindergarten class... unfortunately, he never upgraded his social skills.
"The Switch is not a good console"
Well, at least Nintendo is trying to do something different with their consoles, instead of just shitting out anoher line of inferior pcs.
16:57 I have to use a legitimate boxing strategy to win in a game that has boxing influences in them?!?! That's some stoopid shit dood!!!
I still wonder if anyone at Nintendo who worked on Arms has seen this
Drink everytime phil looks at the chat
I hate the intro song because of phil...thanks phil
You got this up quickly, thanks
2:00:20 tfw you get carjacked off a skateboard
How was he a fighting game pro again? Luck? Gotcha.
A game that starts with a tutorial never explained how to do stuff? #JustDSPThings
Love how TH-cam's game-detection system thinks that ARMS is somehow Mario Kart 8, despite it clearly being a different property of Nintendo! O_o
Also that salty rage from DSP at 1:45:56 though :P
Arms allows for several different controllers including the Pro controller to be used btw.
Drinking challenge. One drink for everytime he says "This Sucks!"
The way that he just stands there/walks extremely slowly and sends out his arms on the ground standing perfectly still physically pains me
Dsp's ARMS 101: If you miss one hit spam grabs for the rest of the match.
Phil is such an anomaly. Of course the final boss in a fighting game is a cheater. That's the entire fucking point. For someone who prides himself on the fact that he used to be a Professional Street Fighter player you'd think he'd know that.
I like how much he spammed grab + didn't block and dodge
Could you imagine this guy playing Darkest Dungeon?
He actually has played Darkest Dungeon as part of some paid livestream so I can imagine it :)
Senator Painis he got handheld thru it since its turn based and he got time to read his chat for it. He didnt got far tho, only played like an hr or two so it was still easy enough.
Even so, I can't imagine he'd take to the higher-tier dungeons very well.
agreed, thats why he stopped early tbh
Wow those THIYDP pop up so fast at this point, its amazing. Thanks Ontan for ur hard work, hope ur mental health is still ok after watching DSPs qualiti khantent in order to make this video.
41:19 That edit is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Fucking GG, good sir.
You make some of the best videos thank you for making this
Of course he's a grab spammer
I can't understand why anyone would tune in to watch Phil constantly complain about games glitching.
DSP: * brings Hedlok down to low life *
Hedlok: So you have chosen...death
I'm almost 50 minutes in and he still doesn't realize basic punches break throws, is he going to stay liike this the entire video?
Funny how litteraly EVERYONE understands the movement but NOOO! NOT PHIL!
So strange how "master of all fighting games DSP" doesn't know about whiff punishing silly dsp
“She grabbed me through the stage! I couldn’t see what she was doing?”
That’s the point of the fucking stage!
This was the most excersise Philberts pale, feeble arms have gotten in years
Legit question...does DSP need glasses?
Damian Betancourt he's tough the first time around. grab spamming cheeses him, but trying to fight him legitimately requires actual tactics.
hey does anyone know where i can find a clip of phil reading his donations out from this stream? my friend made a funny donation to troll phil and i want to watch his reaction again the donation was about phil making a "solo male video"
Challenge:take a shot every time he says “I can’t dodge”
I see. Thanks for the info. I'll just put it down as the controls being a little weird and Phil being his usual clueless self.
Please don't change your profile pic, Ontan. I imagine that's what you're looking like while watching Phil fail.
it pisses me off how every big title game he plays, he calls them badly designed and buggy cause he apparently does so well but the game cant keep up with his "genius".
1:52:20 Phil every time he struggles at any Nintendo game.
2:30:36 complaining that he used the games mechanics to kick his ass.
How the hell does this guy place in fighting game tournaments is a mystery to me.
41:19 holy fuck i busted a lung laughing at that
