After what he did to the Persona games I was afraid he was going to actually ruin Automata as well but, luckily, he didn't seem to care that much about the game in general. I absolutely LOVE the soundtrack to both Sonic Adventure games; and even though I played the "bugged" GameCube versions of Sonic Adventure; (Sonic Adventure DX; Director's Cut; and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle); I loved those games. I mean; sure my game disc of SA2B; finally broke back in 2018; but my disc of SADX: DC; STILL works; just fine. And it's been 20 years since the DX version came out! Sure; I don't have my GameCube anymore; but very last time I ever played my GameCube games; they worked perfectly... Smash Bros Melee; SADX:DC; etc.; And I was sad to be saying goodbye to my GameCube; but i couldn't have envisioned a better sendoff to my GameCube games. (Especially Melee). The framerate differences between the Dreamcast and basically every other version of the game is the entire reason why Leon (the Chameleon Robots) basically don't attack on any version of the game that isn't the Dreamcast version. The AI behavior of Leon wasn't adjusted to deal with the increased framerate, so he turns invisible before his tongue attack can ever trigger.
I don't just harsh on people but his commentary is atrociously bad.......Like, this is why I'm thankful to God for having friends and family. Games like this, I would play with my best friend, we'd alternate controlling/playing through stages while talking. As kids, I took advanced classes and he didn't, so we could talk about stuff like, what happened in x class or y people and go from there. Growing up, we went to different middle schools, so it only expanded from there. Point of this little tl;dr? As a child playing through this same game, I could've provided better commentary. Hell, I'm 25 now and alone, I could do so, while remembering my way around AND who knows, even try a speedrun. What Phil is doing (since he supposedly does this Sonic thing every summer) is just pathetic. He clearly has little to no memory of this game, only 'interacts' with his fans when he's lost or wants power-ups, and Idk, it just seems very scummy.
As a huge fan of Amy Rose... His playthrough of her campaign was painful. First of all, her campaign is all about how she can't run away from her problems and has to face them... Which leads me to the Zero fight. Anyone who played the levels remembered the prompt saying the more you hit Zero, the less effective the hammer becomes. So you have to instead evade him and strike when effective instead of just thugging your way through. I won't even comment on his butchering of 'My Sweet Passion"

Even though I prefer San Andreas to both, Vice City Stories has the best soundtrack IMO. It helped me discover many artists that I never would've found out about otherwise like Wally Badarou, Berlin, and Howard Jones.
True. San Andreas has tons of great music, especially the numerous rap/R&B stations, classic rock, alternative rock, even the talk stations are really good. But to me, the 80's new wave and hair metal still beats it by a hair. A small hair for sure, but still.

The framerate differences between the Dreamcast and basically every other version of the game is the entire reason why Leon (the Chameleon Robots) basically don't attack on any version of the game that isn't the Dreamcast version. The AI behavior of Leon wasn't adjusted to deal with the increased framerate, so he turns invisible before his tongue attack can ever trigger.

I don't just harsh on people but his commentary is atrociously bad.......Like, this is why I'm thankful to God for having friends and family. Games like this, I would play with my best friend, we'd alternate controlling/playing through stages while talking. As kids, I took advanced classes and he didn't, so we could talk about stuff like, what happened in x class or y people and go from there. Growing up, we went to different middle schools, so it only expanded from there.
Point of this little tl;dr? As a child playing through this same game, I could've provided better commentary. Hell, I'm 25 now and alone, I could do so, while remembering my way around AND who knows, even try a speedrun. What Phil is doing (since he supposedly does this Sonic thing every summer) is just pathetic. He clearly has little to no memory of this game, only 'interacts' with his fans when he's lost or wants power-ups, and Idk, it just seems very scummy.
As a huge fan of Amy Rose... His playthrough of her campaign was painful. First of all, her campaign is all about how she can't run away from her problems and has to face them... Which leads me to the Zero fight. Anyone who played the levels remembered the prompt saying the more you hit Zero, the less effective the hammer becomes. So you have to instead evade him and strike when effective instead of just thugging your way through.
I won't even comment on his butchering of 'My Sweet Passion"
I wish DSP lost to the character fights. :c

I was trying to put my finger on who Phil reminded me of... and then it hit me. He reminds me of that kid in school who tried way the fuck too hard to be funny, and wound up being annoying while thinking everyone else is to blame for him not having any friends.

It's amazing how on my first go with the game, I made it through with no game overs while this dude... I don't even wanna know how many deaths he had in his unedited videos. Also, focus on the fact that he said that he said SA 1 and SA 2 were great games. And yet in his LP's he constantly says they suck

i wonder how easy it would be to make convincing fake dsp gameplay footage. just slap a well edited collection of facecam clips together and see if all the "cawn awn"s, "i was blawking!"s, and "dood! *holds up controller*"s and other stuff would be enough. maybe even throw in some of the many horrible sex jokes since they can probably apply to most games with girls in them.
Every time I see DSP "rock out" to the music of games, it makes my soul cringe terribly. Good lord...

GTA: Vice City and Vice City Stories are some of my favorite video games of all time.
But the Sonic Adventure games come at a pretty close second.
Nice to see someone else who actually likes Vice City Stories. It's woefully underrated IMO. It's my second favorite GTA, with San Andreas at #1.
San Andreas is a phenomenal game. However, I still hold the Vice City titles a bit higher in my eyes. Mostly because of the soundtrack.
Even though I prefer San Andreas to both, Vice City Stories has the best soundtrack IMO. It helped me discover many artists that I never would've found out about otherwise like Wally Badarou, Berlin, and Howard Jones.
True. San Andreas has tons of great music, especially the numerous rap/R&B stations, classic rock, alternative rock, even the talk stations are really good.
But to me, the 80's new wave and hair metal still beats it by a hair. A small hair for sure, but still.
Has anyone noticed how hard it is to watch DSP enjoy a game? Now it may be because I dislike the guy, but whenever he enjoys a game he invariably laughs and whenever I hear DSP laugh I die a little inside...
