But they are crazy for macaronas and Egyptian bread that I made.. and they love yoghurt..and berries.. they seem to have Egyptian tastebuds.. and with your channel I can make more exciting Egyptian foods for my family.. Tq and Thank God for you Susie.. God bless you habibi! Boussa
My 12th grade son made this recipe last night to bring to school to represent Egypt. WOW, wonderful flavor! We'll be looking to make more of your recipes 😊
Ya halawah!!! wallahy I love hawawshi so much. I Grew up in LA but my parents were Egyptian and when we went to Egypt that is some of the first street foods that I started to love. We truly have the best food!!!
I want to go to Egypt one day. I love history and cuisine as well. Hawaosi looks amazing. I will try it one day. Many thanks for sharing dear sister :-) greeting from Bangkok.
I just made a vegan version of this using Impossible's plant-based meat but your exact same recipe, it tastes incredible! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!!!!!!!
@youmayneverknow100 it works very well. You can even make kofta kebabs with it. Just make sure that you drain it from liquids to make sure the kofta sticks to the skewer.
what is amazing is that some cheap resturants here in egypt makes the vegan version of this and sells it as the beef one, it passes very well and is cheaper (sad they have to lie to sell it here though)
Thanks for sharing your recipe, In the Cairo version we add lots of onions , and a 25% of lamb , I like your addition of the tomato paste, blessings to you. Greetings from Dallas Texas
Oh boy. Can’t wait to try this. My hub is from Egypt, but as usual, there is a lot of other influences/dishes. This looks fantastic. As usual, I will make it. 😉

Please, does any of you have the receipe of the original dough for the Egyptian hawawshi? I've been to Egypt - Alexandria- and had it, love it. And would love to taste it again... thank you from now!
This is definitely my next thing to try! Thanks Suzie! Just one concern though, I wonder if I should cover the first say 10-15 minutes with foil in the oven so to prevent the pita from burning?
What kind of pita bread do you use? I can’t get the kind that opens like this in my area, but maybe I can order online...These look so good. Love your recipes and channel!
Not knowing what grocery stores are in your area, I would check out a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. You may even check out a Middle Eastern grocery store as well. Otherwise, if you’re up for it, you can make your own pita bread. I have a recipe right here. Good luck! www.themediterraneandish.com/homemade-pita-bread-recipe/

That's what am making for dinner
I was watching an Egyptian program about Kebab. I heard the following also reesha, tarb, neefa. what exactly are these if translated to English?
For your information, Hawawshi is named after the guy who was born in
' Hawawsha ' which is a village in Daqahliyah governorate in the Egyptian Delta.
This is definitely my next thing to try! Thanks Suzie!
Just one concern though, I wonder if I should cover the first say 10-15 minutes with foil in the oven so to prevent the pita from burning?
Enjoy! And you don't need to, but if you're worried about it you can!
