    ----------------------------------------------
First Hyundai SUV with the new design philosophy "Sensuous Sportiness".
Parametric grille with seamlessly integrated daytime running lights and turn signal lights.
Efficient hybrid drive with a powerful electric motor and automatic transmission.
Combined fuel consumption under five liters per 100 kilometers.
Central front airbag between the front seats, more assistance systems than ever before
Three equipment lines on offer: Select, Trend and Prime.
10.25 inch navigation touchscreen with Bluelink ® , Apple CarPlay ™ and Android Auto ™.
Digital cockpit with 10.25 inch color display, Krell premium sound system.
Terrain modes with driving programs for mud, sand and snow.
Automated parking in and out of parking spaces without the driver sitting in the car.
The new Hyundai Tucson 1.6 T-GDI Hybrid (fuel consumption in l / 100 km: urban 5.3; extra urban 4.7; combined 4.9; CO 2 emissions in g / km combined: 112) combines the best of both worlds : The 132 kW (180 hp) of its 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine is joined by an electric motor with an additional 44.2 kW (60 hp). Together, both engines provide a system output of 169 kW (230 PS) and a maximum torque of 350 Newton meters, making the Tucson Hybrid by far the most powerful drive in the Tucson family. At the same time, it consumes the least petrol at 4.9 l / 100 km in combined operation. The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid can also cover short distances purely electrically.
Hyundai has exclusively equipped its hybrid model with a six-speed automatic transmission, which not only increases driving comfort, but also makes it easier for the electronic drive control to efficiently combine petrol and electric operation. In addition, the automatic enables the use of further technical highlights that characterize the top model of the series. The new navigation-based adaptive cruise control system (standard from Trend equipment) can be ordered for the Tucson Hybrid as well as for the models with dual clutch transmission. Based on the map data, it recognizes the route that the vehicle is traveling and reduces the speed in good time before a town sign, a roundabout or a sharp curve, so that the driver can travel safely and without exceeding the speed limit.
The 1.49 kilowatt-hour capacity of the lithium-ion polymer battery in the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid can easily be maintained or charged while driving. This happens either when the Tucson Hybrid is traveling long distances at high speed or - preferably - whenever the driver takes off the accelerator or steps on the brakes, for example when driving downhill or when coasting at a red light. In these situations, the compact electric motor reverses its direction of action and turns into a generator. In this way, it generates electricity that can be stored in the battery. In this way, the kinetic energy of the rolling SUV is not lost, but can be used the next time it starts up, accelerates or for short distances without a combustion engine.
This is possible because the electric motor of the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, which is mounted in front of the gearbox, not only generates a remarkable output of 44.2 kW (60 hp), but also an equally impressive torque of 265 Newton meters. With the 132 kW / 180 PS petrol engine, thanks to the turbocharging and direct petrol injection, the maximum torque is available from 1,500 revolutions and thus at an early stage, the electric motor can basically call up its maximum power from a standing start. The combination of electric and gasoline engines results in a system torque of 350 Newton meters and noticeably stronger acceleration from a standing start than with gasoline or diesel engines with comparable engine power. In figures: the new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid completes the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 8.0 seconds.
4-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging and direct fuel injection.
    132 kW (180 PS) output, 265 Nm max.torque at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm.
Electric motor with 44.2 (60 hp) and 265 Nm torque.
System output 169 kW (230 PS) and 350 Nm max.torque.
    Fuel consumption in l / 100 km: urban 5.3; extra-urban 4.7; combined 4.9; CO 2 emissions in g / km combined: 112.
    Six-speed automatic transmission (6AT), front-wheel drive.
The design of the Tucson Hybrid follows the new "Sensuous Sportiness" design philosophy for the first time in a Hyundai SUV. Geometric algorithms form the basis for a new design process, which the Hyundai designers call "Parametric Dynamics" and which is carried out exclusively on the computer and which shapes the entire design of the SUV.

I am still hooked on the new Tucson - beautiful styling and futuristic.
Dan, you said I think this is a 4x4. Does this mean the car has a prop shaft running to the back axle or do the rear wheels get the power only from the battery?
If it is the later, in my opinion at least, it’s not really a 4x4. I say this because I would want 4x4 capability (not for off reading) all the time during winter and if the battery runs out I no longer have 4x4 but 2x4.
With only 38kms electric range it would be used up in no time.
It would have to be pure petrol or diesel for me still if I go for the Tucson.
Great review Dan, look forward to the next one.
Stay safe and well my friend and as always, greetings from Cumbria in the U.K.

nice video Dan ! good work ! I have a question - how does this full Hybrid behaves on highway ? any idea if you keep acceleration and still want to overtake - does the Electric engine still have some juice to kick in and how long does it keep supporting the petrol engine ? a few seconds only ? or more (as long the EV battery has energy) ? Thanks !

@@SDADanCars I have seen almost every review of new Tucson hybrid, and trust me you'll get most 2-3 km on electricity only. Your friend must drove the car downhill.
Nevertheless purpose of the hybrid is constantly to switch between two power-trains and achieve better fuel economy.
However, I think fuel economy of RAV4 hybrid would be better because of the e-CVT transmition (I have drove it couple times 6l/100km averige but loud on acceleration) . Also Tucson driving quality should be better because of AT.
Currently I am weating Tucson in Macedonia so I can test drive it. Dessigion would be between this two SUVs.
I like your passion about cars by the way, Keep it up with good work

      Only with plug-in hybrid.
I have this Tucson HEV and you can drive up to 4 km in EV mode only when all the requirements are met.
So far, in first 500 km in winter time, my combined consumpition is 7.8 liters.
In th city (Zagreb) you have aprox 8-10 liters in rush hours, and when you go outside the city you get more decent numbers gravitating around 6 liters.
Keep in mind that car is brand new and temperatures are below zero.
I test drove RAV4 also and it has slightly better fuel economy so far.
We will se when it gets warmer and car travels some more kilometers.
But the feeling in new Tucson is just gorgeous

      No problem.
So, with 5.500 km on the ODO meter I can say average consumption dropped to 6.4 liters.
I drive it 95% in the city (Zagreb) and most of the time in rush hours.
What I have learned so far is that cold temperatures affect the battery life and overall consumption figures, as soon as it gets warmer battery is more in use, petrol engine kicks in much less and consumption drops significantly.
I also managed to get 6 full kilometers just on EV but conditions were ideal, battery full, slight downhill and an open road.
Car is very roomy, passengers on the back seat have enough space and boot space is enough for a family of 5 to make a filed trip to the coast.
I love it all the way, it is very snappy and economical, also very comfortable yet stiff enough if you like to drive it a bit sharper through the corners.
You will be very pleased with the car.
This is the best engine for that car, quicker and more economical than CRDi or 1.6T.
The only thing that needs a bit getting used to is e-shift, P R N D knobs, sometimes you have to look in what drive mode you are, it does not shift quickly from R to D and vice versa. It just needs a little practice.

A very nice car to look at and a vast improvement over the previous model BUT for crying out loud why did they put a virtual cockpit and then deprived it of any "virtual" functionality? Except for the change in theme when you swap driving profiles there is very little that this dashboard does to differentiate it from a standard analogue one!! The instruments left and right do not change to display menus or other useful information. All that is handled by the center piece of the screen which is also lackluster as it displays only basic information just like any other small screen fitted between analogue instruments. There is no option to display the navigation map or similar functionality which is standard in most any other virtual cockpit on the market. So you have a virtual cockpit that mostly behaves like an analogie one and this is a great missed opportunity for Hyundai as it would literally cost them nothing to fully utilize the screen they already replaced the analogue instrument cluster with. A clear lack of imagination there that smears the otherwise very nice job they have done with the center screen. Shame...
