Thank you Voja for your quick overview, looking forward to your unboxing and full reviews. I already ordered the Manta about an hour after it was available, not just because of FOMO, but because i really like the Nomad and have been a user of the A5X for two years. The sustainability of the device is completely market differentiating it from all other products. I know waiting was a big angst for some people but I was patient with Ratta's delays because my hope is that they were going to deliver a quality product. I have seen several other unboxing videos and it appears Ratta delivered on the quality, however I am so looking forward to your videos because you are the GOAT and will deliver an open and honest opinion !!
I am only concerned about the preis. The device, including the half cover and HOM2 pen, costs around 740 and then 30 € on the top for shipping. I hit around 770 €. Thanks for sharing your initial thoughts. You are guiding all of us (consumers and manufacturers).
Thank you Voja for the news, I'm anxious to see your review of this product. The feelwrite and ceramic nib is the one I feel more comfortable with. If there is nothing wrong with the device in your review, I'll probably buy it the next year. I'm not sure how I was able to bear the FOMO, but I think I prefer to wait until I can see a reliable review. Thank you again for your opinion and effort and keep up the great work!
The cover has no magnets; it has latches; you plug those in and there is a latch in the back that secure the cover. Honesty looks like a great device to me compared to the rest of the stuff on the market. Ratta is doing everything right, compared to Boox and Remarkable to be honest; they don't sell you a device every 6 months and if it is possible to update your hardware with a new motherboard, they are really sending a strong message here to the competitors, in terms of longevity of a platform.
So excited for yours to arrive! Your reviews are always so top-quality and thorough. I've got access to both the 5X and 6X, and find I keep gravitating towards the 6X. Part of that is the portability of that smaller size, but part is also the 300PPI, so I'm pretty excited to see the larger size with that extra pixel density. I have no plans on upgrading until I need to, but it's fun to see where things are headed. These devices definitely hold up extremely well to day-to-day use in my experience - always felt like I had to baby the NA3C, but I can just throw my SN in my bag and go.
Hi Voja, I really enjoy the work you do. Ultimately the Manta/SN is not for me (not enough functionality, especially on the reader annotation side) but it should make a solid RM alt if they can bring down the price. Once you get your unit, I think it would really be interesting to see if they improved the aliasing / artifacting for handwriting you investigated around 8 months ago. Not the worst, but if their focus is notes then handwriting should be market leading
@@myoimyoim for sure, delivery companies aren't affected by our postal strike. But Voja was talking about handoff to the postal system, and the reliability of his postal service. I was responding to that.
Similar delivery delay for me here in the uk, but mine has been stuck in Hong Kong for several days :( I've been waiting for the a5x2 for so long... BTW, love the way you say "magnetic forces" 😂
It looks great. I have been waiting eagerly for one year for this moment. Looking forward to a great review. I have the A5X and it is wonderful as a productivity note taking tool. Couldn’t have made a better purchase 😊
the replaceable battery alone is a big deal for me, and adding on top the entire SOC is replaceable is just spectacular unless there's an issue with the screen itself, this device has a potential to last decades
@@btCharlie_ if they start selling replacements. As far as I know they are not doing it yet, right? The battery would be easy enough to find I guess (it’s probably a standard size/voltage), but the motherboard block can only come from them, and they also don’t sell the body of the device(s) sans internals.
@@MatteoCampinoti94 I would assume they wouldn't release new batteries or SOCs until they're needed. The first Nomads will probably run into battery issues in two or three years cause the devices don't draw too much power, and the SOCs will require a significant generational leap to release a new faster version. That said, it's very fair not to rely on company's promises of future products and upgrades. They're not bound to follow them anyway and their goals may change in the future. It would be superb for them to release interface standards so that people and third parties could produce their own versions, but I can't say it's gonna happen.
The new shape allows finding cable connections by touch. But the 'hole' and 'bump' should be enough for that?! Not of you want to: - avoid putting fingers in sockets to prevent dirt pilling or bending of internal stuff - avoid mis-clicking the power when orienting the device. - allow connecting thick USB cable without lifting the device.
It's not all bad at all, it's just incredibly unpredictable and unreliable, sk there's no way to know what to expect. Sometimes it's super fast. Other times, I don't even get a package, despite paying import taxes, and then I can't even get back the paid import tax and end up with no package and less money in my pocket for someone else's utter incompetence. Fun! 🥳
In Singapore, I got confirmation from the local distributor that stock arrives today and delivery will be possible same day too! Ordered one but unfortunately am on vacation to be able to open it immediately.😅
Voja, i have a quick question. Why did Rata not send a test device to you earlier? I noticed that some owners of the previous generations tested the device already. I ask myself if there is a strategy behind it (from the company's perspective).
I have no information when which parcel was sent out. Without that information it is impossible and irresponsible to try and form any kind of theory as there are simply way too many factors in play, such as logistics DHL delay in Hong Kong or delays of local post services. The packages may well have been sent out on the same day, but a certain batch would pass through without catching a delay on one end or the other, while another batch wouldn't.
Hi everyone, I recently bought a boox go 10.3 to replace my remarkable but I can't seem to get it right. 1) is it possible to organize the folders like on the remarkable with notes, PDFs and books within the same folder? 2) is it possible that by highlighting a text in "yellow" the gray of the highlighting almost completely covers the character of the text? 3) is there a good application to transfer files? Thanks so much to anyone who wants to help me.
The modular design makes it possible to upgrade it at a later date, if they release upgraded motherboards for it. That's the beauty of this approach :)
Android 11... Old, and likely insecure, not to mention not certified for Google app store. No magnetic anchor for writing instrument... But a semipermanent loop. Only 4 GiB memory, which is low. Despite these serious issues, I've heard only good things about the brand, and want to like the device.
With the tapered bottom edge and the feet set well in, I still keep wondering if the body will rock when you are squeezing those last few lines in at the bottom of the screen, I doubt it but...
IMO too simple for the price it will sell for in Europe, it’s almost 150€ more than the remarkable paper pro and that one has a front light and a next-generation color display. Like the A6X2, I would recommend it only to users who really, *really* need Supernote’s features.
@ It depends on how you take notes. The Supernote has amazing organization features with links, TOCs, etc., but it’s also very “strict”, with non-expandable pages and few writing tools. The reMarkable on the other hand is more freeform. It’s quite lackluster when it comes to organizing notes, with only global tags and folders to navigate your notebooks, but it’s also much, much more capable when it comes to sketching (both RMPP and RM2), and the ability to extend a page as much as you want is really useful. If you want a notebook, get the Supernote and the premium may be worth it imo, but if you want to sketch and draw and are okay with less structure then I’d recommend the remarkable (not necessarily the RMPP unless you really want colors). My point still stands though, its unique software features are the saving grace of the Supernote because otherwise there is no way to recommend a device that is twice as expensive (in Europe) as a “luxury” item like the reMarkable 2.
What improvements will it make to the device? Ratta hate making upgrades because they like telling people that they don't need to upgrade. They want to keep supporting their oldest products. They only upgrade when they can't buy the old chips from the chip manufacturer. They really care about the people who have bought their products in the past unlike everyone else who only want to sell you their latest product.
Front light or the lack of it has nothing to do with being spartan. It has to do with minimizing the surface to screen distance and prioritizing writing feel, precision and image contrast. So it's a matter of preference and needs, absolutely 100%, but I disagree that it has anything to do with "spartanism" (?😳😁) of a device.
My point is that I’m astonished that a platform which prides itself with having as few “miscellaneous” tech features as possible has a product that comes equipped with a standard and essential feature missing in its more sophisticated competitor’s latest offering. All these devices should have a backlight - it’s old tech, essential for writing in the dark when no other light source is readily available, and if the Manta is supposed to compete with the RMPP, which I have, then it dropped the ball with this potential customer because I’m not paying for an expensive tablet I can’t work in the dark with
I strongly disagree that all devices should have a front light, as that ultimately defeats the point of reflective screens and it ruins certain aspects of a work device. It sounds like you don't get it and are not even trying to get it, what the point is and why something that doesn't align with your opinion should exist, and what are the reasons behind it. You have alternatives on the market that do have a front light. What I truly don't understand is why would you complain about a device that doesn't conform to your specific needs? Do you believe that your opinion and needs are the only ones that matter and that all devices should conform to your needs? I find that rather strange, if I'm honest.
