I’ve done similar - blacked out badges and a cheap abs spoiler from xcar. Have had them on for over a year now and held up well. Haloblk do great quality products so next upgrade will be swapping the spoiler over to their one.
Looks like you and I are doing the same things. I added matt black badge covers and a spoiler. I initially ordered a matt black genuine carbon spoiler from aliexpress and what I recived looked great until I went to fit it and I found the fit was terrible. So I ordered a matt black plastic one off ebay and the fit and look was fantastic. Wish I had gone with that to start with. If I'm ever down your way will drop you a note and perhaps catch up for a coffee. Looking good mate.
Yes. I don’t like the chrome badges at all. I wanted to fit a good quality dry carbon spoiler. With the money I just spent on this car I think it deserved one. I’ve heard a few people had bad experiences with cheaper carbon ones. I actually got to see this one first hand before I bought it so I knew it was worth it.
Not for me. The standard diffuser is pretty aggressive looking as is. There would be a similar benefit aerodynamically though and combined with the spoiler would probably be a more noticeable efficiency saving. I’ve seen a few that have led brake lights built in too which look cool.
@@notinthemanual AFAIK a diffuser is designed for downforce, and might actually ADD drag (i.e. it's sucking the rear tyres down to grip harder to the road), which isn't necessarily what you want (unless you want to drive on the roof of a tunnel of course - and who doesn't want to do that in a Sydney traffic jam) ;-) ... But maybe I'm wrong, I'm no aerodynamicist ;-)
I don’t have hub caps. These are the 20” induction wheels. I have protective segments around the edges. Made by a company called MagBak. Here is my review on them. th-cam.com/video/hhsZN91j2no/w-d-xo.html
Yeah but that car is insanely expensive so you would expect it. I think it’s important to have a real carbon fibre one as they look so much better than the print ones. If it’s not in the budget then just a matte black plastic spoiler would be better.
I haven’t had time to do a longish freeway run to see that yet. I’m not expecting a huge difference. I don’t know if you could do a consistent enough test to be accurate. I drove a few hours on the freeway a week before I fitted it and will hopefully do the same run again soon.
Real dry carbon. I do my best to explain the difference in the vid but basically dry carbon has the resin impregnated in the sheet of carbon and wet carbon has a resin coating over the top of normal carbon sheets. Dry carbon is stronger and in my opinion looks better too.
Hey mate. I am thinking of getting the same spoiler and have ceramic coating on my model Y. What do I need to do to prepare the boot top lip so that the spoiler sticks to the surface?
Thank you very much for your interest in our products! We will continue to bring better and more innovative products!
I just ordered one on Amazon today. I think it will look amazing on my red MYLR. Thanks for the review!!
Awesome. Hope this video helps with the install.
Love it!
Tip Matt, when facing camera, use a tripod!🙂
But I enjoy making you dizzy 😂

That looks amazing. Is the factory spoiler also a dry carbon?
I’m not 100% if the factory one is a dry carbon construction. It has a matte finish so it probably is.

Feel free to shoot me an email if your headed down this way.
looks good, where did you get the black badges as well?
Tessories. Easy to fit. They are just covers that stick to original badges.
Hi Matt, I am interested in getting one, but just want to know if it is easy to take the spoiler off once installed?
Yes. A little bit of heat using a hair dryer and some fishing line to cut the tape it can be done without harming the paint.
Looks really nice 👌
Thanks John. I’m pretty happy with how it looks.
Well done Matt, thoughts on a diffuser?

@@greghudson9717 Either am I. I thought we were talking about the diffuser below the bumper. Maybe I’m confused.
I've just installed mine (got one as a Christmas present!) but I'm nervous driving in Melbourne rain with it. I just don't trust those adhesives!
Mine hasn’t fallen off yet! I was lucky it didn’t rain for a few days after I fitted it though.
do you have a link to your hub caps?

Spoilers really make a visual difference, not just an aerodynamic one. I just wish they looked as built-in as they do on the Model X.

It’s definitely more for visual than aero. The aero benefit is very small.
What does it do to efficiency

Is this real carbon fiber or fake plastic?
