Dhanushkodi, a small town located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India, bore witness to the devastating Dhanushkodi Cyclone of 1964.
It was the night of December 23 when a severe cyclonic storm struck the region, leaving behind a trail of destruction and loss. About 1800 people died and the town was shattered. The cyclone lead to abandonment of the town, and Dhanushkodi eventually came to be known as the 'Ghost Town'.
Witness the wreckage of once-thriving neighborhoods, the remnants of a railway line that was swallowed by the sea, and the haunting beauty that emerges from the ruins of what was once a bustling town. But amidst the desolation, a spirit of resilience emerges. We dive headfirst into the present lives of the survivors, shining a spotlight on the untold tales of courage, hope, and the unwavering human spirit. Meet the remarkable individuals who rebuilt their lives from scratch, defying the odds and transforming tragedy for change.
