Ironically it's Yahiko who best disproved Naruto's whole ideology. Yahiko was THE idealistic revolutionary who fought for the oppressed while maintaining his morals. And how did he end up? Devoured by the brutal political conspiracy. It's this experience that showed Nagato the futility of naive idealism. For him to get his mind changed by a naive brat like Naruto is nothing but a regression for his character, a return to square zero. Of course, Naruto ultimately succeeds because he's the MC but it's still unclear where did Yahiko make a mistake that Naruto didn't? So with all due respect to Kishimoto, it seems he truly didn't find the real answer to the cycle of hatred.
wrong. Better to die standing for your ideals than live forsaking them. Nagato realizes that where one idealist may die , 10 more will spawn who can take on 100,000 pessimists. the seed of change sprouts giant trees while the rotten apples only serve to be their fertilizer in the future
@@themayhemera3046 one could say that it was Jiraiya that first influence Nagato to abandon his Ideal. Nagato was horrified with his powers at first, and felt great guilt at killing the Iwa shinobi, and it was Jiraiya that consoled him & reminded him that he saved his friend & that’s something that no one can fault you for
Because Kishimoto understands the history of his OWN people, he understands that Naruto is STILL just a work of fiction and that this specific mindset CANNOT work in reality.
Man this is when Naruto became likeable for me. He matured so much after jiraiya died and he finally began to understand the world he lived in, and also understand his best friend sasuke. Naruto loses one person and instantly leaves the village in search of power for revenge. And by the end of the arc Naruto had been the first ninja in history to truly break the cycle of hatred by forgiving pain for everything he did. And also understanding why nagato did it. This is truly beautiful writing.
the fact that he went out of his way to listen to Nagato's reasoning, even after all the pain he caused him was another level of maturing for sure, but you could say it was Jiraiya's words that encouraged him to remain on the "righteous" path even after experience the harshness/cruelty of the world.
@@JuubiTaz true but jiraiya’s words don’t truly sink in with Naruto until he meets pain face to face. Before that Naruto was exactly like sasuke, or any other ninja caught up in the cycle of hatred. He hated pain, and he wanted him dead for destroying his home. I believe pain is the first person Naruto’s ever said “I’m going to kill you” to. This is a far cry from the naive boy that wanted sasuke to give up on revenge. Or all of the countless ninja he’s met on his journey who were also consumed with the need for vengeance. Sasuke tried to explain to Naruto that since he’s never had anything he could never understand what it was like to lose everything. Naruto somewhat agreed, but he felt like he understood sasuke because he THOUGHT he could imagine losing those bonds. It wasn’t until he actually lost them that he truly understood the need to avenge your loved ones. Thus growing into the Naruto we know today, and breaking the cycle that hashiramas actions and philosophies started.
@@JuubiTaz pain arc truly is goated You can see him fighting all of the fucking urges and desires to kill just to ask pain to tell his story And the moment he asked pain that, you could tell nagato was shook
This is the reason why I think Boruto just has inter dimensional aliens as their opps. It gives the villages an enemy to justify their peace…which still proves Pain’s point but allows for no real answer to Pain’s question to Naruto
It's like Sasuke said, the 5 great nations needed a common enemy in order to stop fighting amongst each other and to direct all that hatred towards a mutual threat. If you like topics like that, I highly suggest my "does Sasuke's revolution make sense" th-cam.com/video/pNmtzkjcprs/w-d-xo.html
I like pain because he had a more realistic understanding about life and war he didn't believe that friendship was going to magically bring peace to the world when he says human beings are simply can't understand each other is true because human have different ideology and culture that makes different unlike naruto who is too idealistic and naive that it sometimes becomes stupid
Pain believed that everyone had their one justice, and in a world where everyones chasing their own, you either submit and sacrifice your own peace for the "greater good", or you go out there and get your own justice, even if its at the cost of someone else
And shared pain and a common enemy brought unity and lasting peace we see in Boruto. As it was the first time they all fought together and looked past their diffrences.
If people started looking past thier ideology and thier culture and put these kind of things behind them. Then by forming unity they will achieve true everlasting peace.
I see Pain vs Naruto as a confrontation of the two answers to the cycle of hatred. They are essentially two types of messiahs Pain is the savior of his own people; he is grounded in reality and is a warmongerer revanchist that brings peace to his kin by the sword (and he fully embraces it, not shying away from admitting so), much like the traditional, old semitic Messiah Naruto is an universal savior; he *has* unrealistic ideas and endeavours and despite having known the worst he still has hope for this world, he is much more Christ-like in that regard
Ever noticed how Nagatos walker is cross shaped? And he sacrafices himself for his own sins in the end? But no Nagato represents a realistic messiah, and Naruto a naive child. And in the end War, shared misery and pain unite the Nations. Just as Nagato preached. Naruto didnt even have any solutions. He was ready to kill pain "cuz you wronged my people.". Uncaring for any other nation. The hidden rain being one if not the most abused. Or Nagatos backstory. The funny bit is Naruto isnt better or more pure. Or hopeful. He's just the MC so everything kinda works out for him. But the real change came from shared pain.
@@TrafalgarWaterDLaw-dl5cm You are correct on all counts. Let's be honest here, the ONLY reason naruto didn't want revenge for how he was treated as a child is because he is the MC. naruto REALISTICALLY should have gone crazy and or evil from how the village treated him. If not that, then at best he would be indifferent to the village. Not caring to help or harm the village.
Pain's excellent portrayal of his power & philosophy made him the cause of the first real change in Naruto's own ideology and mindset and therefore made Naruto take his first real step towards becoming a complete shinobi and a true Hokage
I really don’t like how Kishimoto brought back Nagato in the war for a cameo just to show off his powers. Nagato is a character that makes the story interesting and to make the dialogue more impactful! He’s not a character to show off like a trophy, that was still beyond disappointing. Nagato meeting Madara and hearing the truth about his eyes would have been perfect!! It would have made Nagato rethink his entire existence. 😨
Nah, it would've been unnecessary for him to learn where he got his eyes. He had already changed his moral status and was aware that he was dead, so learning where he got his eyes wouldn't have served any purpose. On the other hand, seeing his small dynamic with Itachi was satisfying because we had never seen the two have a conversation prior, and I feel Kishimoto saw a missed opportunity for two genius level shinobi that heavily impacted both main characters Naruto and Sasuke, to come together and give the audience an awesome moment.
I don't think Naruto himself is far from what's needed. I think he's written like an naive idealist, but in life, it are those people who shine like Naruto who set an example. Naruto is a character who never becomes jaded, and forgives. He's a shining example of what makes the show so beautiful in the first place.
That is kind the problem it makes naruto boring and unrealistic a character without human flaws who is always kind always selfless always forgiving he forgive obito and called him the coolest guy ever no human being no matter how good can do that naruto doesn't have any answers or solutions to problems he thinks that friendship magically bring peace kishimoto himself said that naruto is too naive and idealistic and he agrees with sasuke revolution
@@dytgyfgyffuh243 I wouldn't go so far as to agree with Sasuke. I love Sasuke as a character, but he is broken. Naruto shows the type of emotion and character strength that Sasuke could never develop, that's why he loses. Naruto isn't really much about pure strength. The characters that are the best are the most resolved in their ideology, and truly believe in their way. I know for a fact that people can forgive their transgressors. But the Obito thing, I have to say, that is stupid. The writing really fell off after Sasuke vs Itachi in my eyes
If you look at some hip hop daily videos about the hood, almost everyone has a family member or close friend killed and get revenge which leads to someone growing up to kill them or a friend, sad sight to see. Idk how they survive in the hood
My favorite part about Naruto is how it actually gave me a reality check about different views in the world A villain is a hero in another person's story, and vice versa We always hear what the winning side has to say but not the losing side because history is written by the victors Pain and the Akatsuki are the reasons why I look at the world through a "neutral" perspective
pain was willing to sit down and talk to his enemy about ideologies and potential solutions to the cycle of hatred. naruto was willing to hear him out and give him mercy even after all the pain he'd caused. took his words to heart and tried to find his own solution. political rivals, whether it be candidates or even the average person, often refuse to understand each other. i think that lack of unity and mutual understanding, even while having differing ideals and solutions, is why evil often prevails today.
I’ve made many videos about this topic about pain’s character, but I’m curious about your response! I personally believe pain & Konan were planning to take down Obito! Konan said to Obito right before trying to blow him up. She said she wasn’t just by his side the whole time taking orders, but she was also taking caution of how his ability works for one day to get rid of them. People always wonder how did she have time to make billions of paper bombs? this is my theory, when Obito & Zestu were not around in the rain village. It’s a possibility they were both working together for those 15 years. Planning to one day take him down. Pain agreed to work with Obito originally because he believed in his ideology. BUT! Obito also stated Nagato can be heavily influenced, if you can talk the right words to him. You can say since Konan NEVER LIKED OBITO FROM THE START. She influenced him as time went on to start thinking for himself. Obito fans keep getting things messed up, Obito never created pain to do half of what he was doing. Nagato’s ideology isn’t even his. Words like (I’ll become a god and change this world) and sharing the same pain to understand each other. THAT ALL CAME FROM YAHIKO! Nagato said to Naruto that his best friend’s dream became his dream. There’s something that the fans get wrong when they say pain is being used by Obito.. Pain started to forge his own plan after knowing more about the tailed beast from Obito. Pain started to develop his own world plans that Yahiko wanted. Not the same direction, but the same motivation. Pain had already made a deal with Obito’s partnership. He can’t just walk out and leave because for one, Nagato’s body is crippled. He can’t do anything, Obito can literally end him at any moment if he chose to. Even if pain has his goals, he can’t do anything with Obito and Zestu around. Have you ever noticed when pain is alone, he talks very highly about himself talking about how he has the solution to fix this world! But when he’s around Obito & Zestu, Pain’s personality is very tamed and his talking pattern is very vulnerable. Pain knows Zestu Will report everything to Obito if he’s not careful. Pain is in a situation where he can’t do anything, there’s a difference between believing in someone else’s ideology vs following orders because you are trying to survive! Kishimoto gave us some hints between their relationship, but it was never fully executed and I find it interesting how Nagato NEVER talks about Obito, like at all! Like Pain pretends Obito doesn’t exist when he’s alone. People say that pain was told a lie about what the tailed beast were being used for. But there’s nothing stated in the manga that Obito told him a different story or told him what the plan originally was. So you can even argue that pain is creating his own plan because there was no plan at all mentioned! But I never agreed with that theory because it makes no sense to me, there’s no way they knew each other for 15 years working side-by-side, and nobody was under the impression of what was going on?! In the anime Obito told Konan before they fought. Obito said both you and Pain supposedly agreed with my moon plan which implies pain knew fully well of what was going on. But he simply did not care because he was going in a completely different direction. There’s another thing that makes absolutely no sense to me. Why does Obito need money for the moon plan?? Really Obito needs money, the same guy who doesn’t care about anything in the world. He needs money to operate the Moon plan?? If Obito lied to him about what was going on, that also makes things difficult because Obito screwed himself on what was going to happen with the tailed beast. Pain’s plan about auctioning off the Tailed beast does require money, while Obito’s plan doesn’t require cash!! Which is proof to me that these plans had nothing in common. How can Obito create the moon plan if pain is going to give away the tail beast to other countries and lands to start a war? The tailed beast have to be in the statue in one place for it to even happen to turn into the divine tree. Once again Pain and Konan were not seeing eye to eye with Obito. Plus, Obito was going to take Pain’s eyes. And we all know pain isn’t going to just handover his eyes so easily. They were both going to fight regardless at some point. I’m curious to know your thoughts! It took me four years to understand pain’s character. 👀
yo that was heat ngl. That's a pretty good explanation & I more or less agree with everything you said. I mean, both Yahiko & Konan were warning him about this sketchy masked dude so I'm sure he didn't really align with Obito. Obito was present during the Akatsuki meetings when Pain was explaining the Akatsuki's plans, back when he was playing the fool. I always took that to mean that Obito just let Pain do what wants with the Akatsuki, play leader of whatever, but Nagato knew who the real boss was. It's very possible that he knew about Konan's plans for Tobi. You have to remember that to Obito & Zetsu, Nagato was just the Rinnegan bearer, and he was eventually meant to be sacrificed to revive Madara. He probably knew that nagato wasn't fully loyal to him, but he didn't care. I think you described their relationship pretty well. Remember that barely any of the Akatsuki were actually loyal to the cause. Deidara, Sasori, Hidan, Kakuzu, all cared about themselves, itachi was loyal to the Leaf, Pain & Konan had their own thing, and then Kisame, Tobi & Zetsu were team Project Tsukinome
@@JuubiTazif you want a good break down of their relationship and how far they intertwine. I made a post about this titled “the relationship of obito and nagato” you’ll find it on google and it goes deep into their relationship
not really, i dunno why people act like pain's plan was a guaranteed peace. it was pretty much "nuke everyone, then once the future generations have forgotten how bad it felt to get nuked, nuke each other, and continue the cycle" like, its just the cycle of hatred but worse
The Light Side is like the Will of Fire And The Dark of Darkness is part of the Curse of Hated This is Jesus said About the Tree of Good between the Tree of Bad Fruit.
You see, this is what makes anime, and perhaps media in general so peak. When it presents these real and complex themes that say something about the real world, about people, life, etc. You can have great character designs, great fight scenes, great soundtrack, visuals that are so beautiful they could make your eyes ejaculate (lmao). And these are all great and are important in making a show really good. But a solid plot that explores solid themes that compell the audience to contemplate about the world in relation to said themes, that. That's what gives anime value for me. That's what makes watching these interesting...
that's probably why the Pain arc is considered the best one, Kishi drew inspiration from real events & wanted Naruto to communicate with someone that's experienced war first hand
Another excellent shonen character that went trough the cycle of hatred, later self reflected that he did to many others, what was done to him(killing someones parents, siblings, friends etc), unconsciously breeding more hatred on other people, was Thorfin from vinland saga... he later decided to embrace that "he has no enemies", stopping his revenge journey, and becoming a pacifist, that does not want to create more pain and hatred on anymore people.
I mean it’s imperialism. a lot of us in first world countries highly underestimate the ( no pun intended ) “pain” that we have givin to others. I live in the uk the onley reason we are a first world country is because our horrible exploitation of the poor and other nations its not due to some wacky ideology of freedom or some lofted idea of a free market but insted our constant exploitation. People see these ideas of imperialism and say this is onley something of the past but in actuality countries like America or there dog Isreal are still doing these things the only reason we in the present like to say how the Israeli conquest or americas activities in the middle east are justified but then to look back and say how the enslavement of millions and the invasions of countless cultures and peoples is bad, is very hypocritical from people who defend the actions of Isreal but then to look back and say the stuff of the past was bad as if it were not the same thing. Anyway yeah sry for the yapfest overload i liked the video um have a gud day
Nah don't apologize you cooked haha! I completely agree with you, all those "oh that was in the past" arguments are total bs, and the fact that some people cant see the hypocrisy or double standards usually means that they're still benefiting from it & don't wanna admit that. Glad you liked the video!
100% bro, Nagato kept taking shit from the world, not realising that he had the power of a god (lit. sage of 6 paths) and could make the world bend its knee to him if he really wanted
@@JuubiTaz You can't blame Nagato for his core personality. He was a traumatized introvert. But when shit hit the fan he did take the reigns. Only it was to late by then.
Brilliant video! It is true that 'The Cycle of Hatred' is applicable to the real life now more then ever. We can all relate to it, hatred breeds war - pain breeds war all are linked to these nexus that create a chain reaction of destruction. Humans are animals and egotistical animals. We crave more and more even though we are full we crave more. That's why millionaires won't settle for a million, billionaires won't settle for a billion, they want more, and if something is preventing it from achieving it, hatred arises and human ethics are thrown down the drain. Gluttony is a one of the seven deadly sins. With hatred there is no gain, with hatred there can be temporary power but without a positive gain in the end for one side or another. We humans lack love in this world, especially now. We only know how to evoke hatred so that others can profit from it. Hatred it controllable. That's why the globalists want wars and chaos, they profit from it while others suffer. They feed from the energy of the weak, while they are getting stronger. The _Chackra_ they accumulate from the weakened, enraged people is not the cleanest one but a powerful one. As a Collector from Mass Effect 2 said: 🌀 _"The Cycle must go on!"_ 🌀 P.s. I have question, what is that anime that showed Palastine? I never knew there was anime that showcased Palestine. 🤔 Timestamp: 8:28
Television shows of all kind are just plays off reality of past present and future events to come. Those that thought peace would happen under Naruto or anyone no matter how strong or idealistic just listen to Madara Uchiha. There is no such thing as peace in a cursed world. Where there are winners there will be losers. Etc etc.
when you realize that the villains are a lot more realistic than the heroes, and most people irl would not be forgiving like Naruto and are closer to characters like Obito & Pain
Many of villains were right pain was right about the cycle of hatred madrara was right about shnobi system being hell zabuza was right about shnobi being used by thier village and people and neji was right about destiny naruto is the child of destiny they had a better understanding about life than naruto his too naive and idealistic
I still find it interesting that Pain with all his piercings didn't show any tattoos (I've lived in Japan for quite some time and am aware of all the NO TATTOO ALLOWED stuff), but still piercings are basically the same from a (Japanese) social point of view, so Pain's blatant showing of his piercings has always been weird to me
Well to be fair Pain isn't an ordinary fellow, he's a remotely controlled puppet corpse. He's also always in the shadows, since not even Ame citizens knew how he looked, so I doubt cultural acceptance was important to him
Maybe in our world. But not in the world of Naruto. I think in the end Naruto and Sasuke represent the final answer that Humans can understand each other. But it's not always about that. It's about will they. Then it's not even about that it's about how far it will spread. In Boruto Kara and all of this were in places likely too far for Naruto to reach. Peace created problems and even some of those who could have been talked down likely would never even meet Naruto simply being killed. The Understanding that kept peace was also the same thing that kept some in the dark turning into the sacrifices to keep peace. The Job of war lost and many finding themselves more poor than when it was going on. And even if humans could understand each other what if there is more in the universe that they couldn't understand. The problems never end until everything could be solved but even if it could be? Would that be right?
I think Kishimoto did a really good job representing those who are sacrificed for the greater good/peace with Amegakure. Ofc he ended it with optimism in Naruto's ideals. We might need Naruto to become a real human being to come & fix this world
@@JuubiTaz That's what it is. The Real world doesn't have a Naruto or someone to be like then. Nor do they have the people who stay by that Naruto's side to keep them on their path even though tough times. It's easy for many of us to even believe maybe rightfully that the governments of the world hide things. That Trust just can't be obtained and more and more hold people back even if the people on the ground level understood each other would we trust those who have positions of power?
I've never seen Kishi's thoughts on this, but it's really interesting. I always hated how he handled Nagato. I think he threw away the best writing he did in the story, through the Itachi and Pain storylines.. storylines that brought up really tough questions about the nature of the world.. all to a really bullshit copout Naruto answer.. and to me, the story just kind of sucked after that. Kishi was always way more in his bag to me when he was writing Uchihas or Pain. Sasuke grappling with the realities of the ninja world.. the duplicitousness.. the betrayal.. the disregard for clans, families, individuals... seeing him grapple with that was always the best part of the story.. and Naruto's contribution to the evolution of the story was really always trash.. but NEVER worse than the Pain fight, when Nagato was dropping straight bars on Naruto's head, Naruto had zero answers.. and Nagato just decided to let it all go anyway... story never recovered from that, to me.
and yeah, the interplay between Pain, and the idea of "terrorism" in the real world (who decides what's legit, and what's "terror"? How can oppressed people ever really find justice when they're shut out of the "official" ways to seek justice? etc.) is obvious. I'm glad people are making this connection to the events in Gaza.
The worst part of it all is all the gaslighting & dehumanization perpetuated by the media. Pain was right, this world is ruled by hatred. The problem is that Kishimoto was tackling a massive issue that we have not been able to solve to this day, if he were to make the story more realistic it wouldve been more depressing
@@JuubiTaz yeah, but then maybe the play would be to just never bring up these issues? To me, Sasuke's actions from the Kage Summit all the way up to his final battle with Naruto were all *absolutely* correct (with trying to kill Sakura and Kakashi being the *only* things I thought were out of pocket). He was just right about everything. He was right in identifying Konoha as a fucked up place directly and indirectly responsible for his clan being eradicated.. and his brother having to live a truly horrific life. He was right to want to question Hashirama and ask him about his thoughts and goals on creating the system he did.. he was right to recognize that Hashirama's answer was garbage, and that the ninja world actually was just trash from its foundation. He was right to recognize that these hidden villages (essentially military basis for nations that all operate in their own self interests.. willing to trample on whoever they can get away with trampling on) were inherently trash, and the whole thing needed to be torn down and built anew. He was right about everything. Just like Nagato was right about everything. And they both lost to a guy with zero answers for anything. The parallels to real life are fucked up too. So many in the fandom (and so many in the real world) just blindly root for whoever we're told are the good guys, and refuse to ever examine whether or not that characterization is valid. So many people refuse to look at the systems we live in, and automatically demonize whoever challenges those systems. So many reflexively default to reinforcing a terrible world order just bc it's what they're used to. I always appreciated Sasuke and Pain's characters for calling shit into question... but the way Kishi wrote those problems away was garbage in the same way that our media writes away legitimate resistance in the real world. Naruto's non-answers winning out over real justice is the same thing as watching a White House press briefing at any point over the last 8 months. Just watching complete bullshit win out, and a murderous status quo remaining just bc anything else would be too hard.
Naruto problem is that he is naive and idealistic he doesn't have real answers or solutions to problems he thinks that friendship can magically bring peace
Parce que ce sont des états fantoches. C'est dans l'intérêt des grands pays que les petits pays soient dirigés par des dirigeants faible et facilement manipulables et donc jetables comme des papiers hygiéniques.
@@BMCKINN7 I think it is, as we see when the villages were founded, only the five strongest villages met while the rest was excluded and instead they were given shallow power (for example Takigakure's Seven-Tails) to serve as buffer zones so that the greater nations would not have direct borders to each other and thus instigate conflicts. (Which was wrong, as the battles were instead fought in the minor nations, leaving them in ruin, like Ame)
The great nation literary see the small ones as not human. They literary wage war on their land to take their reccources, war danage be on there. Raid, grape etc. So that the big ones dont get directly dsmaged. We learn this through Nagatos backstory.
Female fan and insane news story and sports fan here. His whole saga was inspired by the real life rise of John Willis as the only white man to become a boss in the Chinese mafia and realign the Chinese mafia and the Irish mafia. Even though the real news story was too insane to believe, it broke on the exact same day that the Boston Celtics won the 1993 NBA Championship.
@@JuubiTaz 8 years ago, the creator of an iconic series said so when he announced on GMA that the series was ending when Katie Couric asked what his most out there source of inspiration was. He said it came from the craziest news story anyone can imagine, which was the news story about John Willis. John Willis was seen as someone that was almost like someone you couldn't believe existed; he managed to realign the Irish mafia and the Chinese mafia, as well as reinstating the protection tax system that went away in the 50s. And kinda like how an iconic bad guy managed to find an opportunity to start an organized crime syndicate AND a cult at the same time, John Willis has had a cult following, and people are pleased he'll be out in December. But literally nobody cared about the real news story because the Celtics won the 1993 NBA Championship against the Chicago Bulls. Sports will always outshine the insane news stories.
I love pain so much because he shows how corrupt konoha and ninja really are. I also like how his plan was more feasable than naruto's. Taking all bijuu and using them as nukes if the villages started fighting is genius. Now its not righetous but at least he'd leave them alone and only interfere when necessary. It is flawed as he may become corrupt tho. However, it is betger than naruto's plan of ralk no jutsu which really doesn't work or address the evils of ninja but somehow expects everyone to get along on a whim. I can't believe nagato fell for naruto's foolishness.
Probably Pain's own terms of Justice is much more reasonable than the Justice of the Marines from One Piece where they use it as an excuse for their sometimes horrible and deprived actions. Pain is like the contrast to The World Government where he knows how it feels like living under the oppression and hypocrisy, unlike the Marines where they still live under the "It's us vs them" mentality biasis and see themselves as "the good guys" and all pirates are "the bad guys". The funny thing is Danzo and the 2 elders of The Leaf are also similar to The Gorosei but worst.
it seems like the Marines represent the oppressor more than the oppressed in this example. I haven't gotten to the Gorosei in OP, got a lot of catching up to do it seems
One of interest things about the big 3 naruto One Piece and bleach is that they have croupt system that created thier villains naruto has the shnobi system being hell bleach has the soul society system being croupt and One piece have the world government being croupt and evil these croupt government systems are the main problem they were responsible for creating the villains of thier worlds
peace is a collective effort, everyone has to put their personal sense of "justice" aside & sacrifice it for there greater good, kinda like Naruto did to Nagato
When you abstract the consequences from their causes, you end up with empty concepts such as "cycle of hatred". Only putting all this violence in the context of the capitalist mode of production you can understand why it appears and how to solve it. Not through abstract notions devoid of real material content, but through the active praxis of revolution.
Pain's philosophy, as well as that of Jiraya, is very much influenced by the philosophy of Japanese pacifism, created by critics of Japanese militarism. If you pay attention to Danzo, he is curiously similar to Shinzo Abe, the former prime minister (now deceased), who liked to pay tribute to Japanese war criminals. Pain's attack on Konoha is very similar to the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - things become clear at this point: Konoha's militarism was only stopped in the same way that Japan's was stopped, and the destruction caused by the bomb made Konoha adopt a foreign policy more committed to peace and dialogue, but not without conflict, since the following arc, the Summit of the Kages, is where this confrontation between Naruto's pacifism and Danzo's militarism occurs, obviously with Sasuke's revenge being the third element. Another manga/anime that has a very similar philosophy is Fullmetal Alchemist. It is also a critique of japanese militarism, but in this case in a world that emulates european fascism. The point is that both works were conceived during the peak of the War on Terror. Characters like Pain in Naruto and Scar in FMA awaken us to the truth behind the simplistic "good vs. evil" discourse that the establishment reproduces. In real life, everything is much grayer, and the virtues that politicians in their country preach may be empty words, while millions agonize in war and famine.
@JuubiTaz yep. Is also about this themes. The Ishival War is a war of extermination against an etnic minority. Its very similar to what is happening in Gaza today, but in 2000s there are a lot of paralles with the warcrimes of Bush admnistration in Iraq. But one of the inspirations was the campaign of repression againt the Aino People in Hokaido during the japanese militarist era. Other things in FMA, like the human experiments made by the federal alchemists, were inspired by the human experiments made by japanese during the japanese occupation in China.
Question if I`m not wrong didn`t Pain want to split the tails into the nations so they could attack themselves with the beast powers and feel each other pain and bring true peace and stop the wars if i`m not wrong?
@@alaacharaf_ According to the anime, Tobi said that they both (Pain & Konan) agreed to his Tsukuyomi. This statement isn't in the manga tho. So this video plays the notion that Pain had his own plans with the biju, despite knowing Obito's plans

Obito killed all the other OG Akatsuki members staging the Leaf as killers to fuel Nagatos mental breakdown. As he already was deeply traumstized watching his parents get brutally killed then kill two people age 10. Pains story is he tried their peace loving way but he was unlucky that he had genuenly evil people with power destroy all their efforts. Naruto literary is so lucky he had basicly everything going for him, grew up in the richest safest village and never expirienced remotely as much trauma thanks to all the friends and support he had. The worse was lonelyness in his earliest childhood and the fox always bails and helps him anyway. After that Narutos road is full of friends and teachers. And nobody dying. So all in all Nagato simply had shit cards in life and thus his pureness was broken early. Naruto lacking an awnser showed how immature and privlidged he was to live in relative peace for so long that nobody murdered Sasuke and all his loved ones one day. And then see if he is still as optimistic. And he never had those belives challenged until Pain showed up and killed so many. And his optimism and peace was replaced by hate imidietly. Proving the point of the cicle. Not once did he concider why Pain did what he did, whst he went through. How years of terrible crimes linger in his beloved Konoha. As their prosperity lays on the backs on smaler nations that arent even worth a thought.
But it's not fair that Pain die and Naruto are doing what Pain had envisioned... Naruto and Sasuke are exactly what Pain describe as "tailed beast weapon"...and other countries want to start war again but afraid both of them...we will see how Kishimoto gonna write a plot after Naruto and Sasuke die

These comments sections are so fool of weird genocidal, inconsiderate, and just idk man appsent minded thoughts. I mean, the German guy thought almost the same thing, so did the Russian guy, and basically every genocidal maniac ever. So, yeah... sleep with that on your head, you agree with someone that's basically Naruto's version of that... Why did we start with thus line of thinking out of a sudden?
I still dont agree with Palestin nor hamas but the cycle of hatred is correct but pains situation could be argued to be less than whats happening in Israel vs Hamas But this was a great video israel is put into a hard spot but netanyahu being Danzo is brutal as he did not seek out potential conflict
To be fair, he didn’t say Danzo was seeking conflict. When he compared Danzo to Netanyahu, he basically said he’s a “geezer that doesn’t care about civilian causalities, so long as they further their political agenda”, and & I hate to break it to ya but that’s a perfect description of Bibi. The civilians casualties in Gaza is horrific & many believe that he’s extending the war just to stay in power.
Netanyahu actually has been quoted to support Hamas as a way of destabilizing the Palestinians cause, WAY before 2023 , to me he is someone seeking conflict, tot he point that he wanted to fund enemies of HIS OWN STATE just because he knew if would give them a good reason to get rid of Palestine all together
@@sammy94780554 I didn't equate the two netanyahu didn't fire missiles first nor kidnap and raped women in the border of enemy country that was Hamas Not only that Palestinians were dancing in the streets celebrating hamases accomplishment it's the reason I don't consider them innocent
5:01 Woah woah woah, chill the F out bro. I don’t know where you think that’s supposed to go, but the other side does exactly the same thing. In fact, they’re the ones causing all of this chaos in the first place. Even if we ignore that for a moment, there’s nothing wrong with the idea that “peace and justice” is defined by only one party. It just depends on who that party is.
Both sides play the victim I'm very aware of that, but currently only one has backing from the west & has the firepower to inflict mass destruction on the other, but I do agree that both play the victim card. Don't miss the entire point of the video tho, Pain said that each side had their own forms of justice, that justice for one side is injustice for the other & that's why he came to the conclusion that human beings cannot understand each other.
@@JuubiTaz Not true. They both have backing from the West. The West, for whatever reason, is trying to play both sides, even against its own interests. Do you not consider all of these “warnings”, “pushbacks”, “red lines” and the literal recognition of the enemy state at this time, backing? Beyond that, the enemy is backed by the East, which, though it is currently occupied with other matters, is still providing the vast majority of its ability to fight. Humans can definitely understand each other, but the other things that they can understand are their own mortality and overwhelming power. That was the second part of Pain’s ideology. We’ll see if this will finally coerce the one side into ending this on peaceful grounds or if they’ll have to experience another round of “pain”.
@@JuubiTaz And in any case, the victims aren’t the main point here. Is○○○○ and Pa○○○○○○○ would do well to remember that they’re just pawns in this game of cat and mouse between Ir○○ and its many, many enemies.

Do you think they send ANY weapons to either Gaza or the West Bank (which is NOT Hamas)? Sure they send aid but that sh!T gets blocked by Israel anyways. The White House tries to put on a mask & pretend that it supports Palestine as well just because of the domestic pressure from the Campus protests & whatnot but actions speak louder than words. @@abbemartensson3850 Sounds like the cycle of hate in action, so I see the themes of vengeance and perceived justice definitely hold true irl. From my knowledge, enforcing any sort of harm is against the values taught in the quran, but i also know religious text gets misconstrued all the time. Quran, Torah, Bible all havew horrific imagery mostly relating to the afterlife/end of the world where ALL THREE claim their people will reign supreme! but still ALL THREE preach love thy neighbour and other morals, For example in the quran they say if you kll one person it is equivalent to killng all of humanity! I believe islamic extremism is more about politics than religion tho i do see why people think otherwise (since they call it islamic)... anyways using this history to justify the murda of young children whom obviously bare no blame is literally what keeps the cycle going (even old people in gazh are not responsible for what the ottoman did ofcourse). anways i obv believe whats going on is TOOOOOOOO FFAAARRR, to the point i find it disgusting to justify, but it is interesting to hear your POV ofcourse
@@abbemartensson3850 The problem with the cycle is the endless debate on when it started, every side thinks the other started it (in every conflict not even world affairs), so youre talkign about the VERY beginning i assume around the ottoman empire or romans or whatnot, and most arabs focus on the nakba when the palestinians were displced by forced (massacares, need proof research Tantura [its very sad that people need to hear it from the kllers mouths to believe it happend, the victims arent enough]. SO that is where arab sbelieve it started as they believed israelis can peacfully integrate into Palestine and even welcomed them to do so, but were obv not fond of them forming the state of isreal right there where they had been living (regardless of what their ancestors did they have nowhere to go, this was their home). YThey paid a horrific cost for the holocaust that was definitely not their doing, many nations turnt the jewish folk away and they were the first to extend a hand, and then the injustice of the Nakba happened! this is where arabs say the cycle started, you are going even further back to before the holocaust, but it not the same individuals who kicked them out who were later wiped out/displaced.
False analogy, real world issues are a lot more complex with multiple agendas from many parties. It shows your ignorance on the conflict in the middle east, you are trying to equate Israel to Konoha or Palestinians to the rain village and Netanyahu to Danzo but this is all false equivalance, just because one aspect of something share some similarity does not make it the same.
I actually really wonder if you watched the video until a certain point and left or just didn’t watched it at all cause what you said feels so disingenuous at so many levels. He never tried at all to simplify the thing saying it’s just between 2 sides ( good/bad guys ) and that there are no other actors in it. He literally said that real world issues and the cycle of hatred himself are just too complex to be resumed at A did this and B did that so C is the result, and he went to the point of using Kishimoto’s quotes to further explain that and said that Naruto was too childish thinking it was that simple so what’s even your point about that ? Even though at one point he made a comparison with Gaza it’s not even like he straight up said "Konoha is this Israel and Ame is Palestine". He mostly compared Amegakure to the smaller nations in our world that can’t really fight back or are ruled by oppressive regimes ( so not only Palestine ) , and the Akatsuki to the rise of terrorist organizations like in our world ( so NOT ONLY Hamas ). He didn’t went to the extreme of saying that both are the same
Lol tell me you didnt watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video, Juubi literally basically says "real world issues are a lot more complex with multiple agendas from many parties" but in his own words ofc. he mentions its not a perfect analogy atleast twice in the video! ofcourse its not literally the same bro remember naruto is fictional. However, I along with many others believe the parallels are clear enough to warrant a video. He goes on to say its a cycle where both sides are acting based on vengeance and perceived justice. The video isn't even about taking sides rather about analyzing the pain speech and how it relates to the real world!
dude... I literally said "The situation's a lot more complicated in real life and Pain's story only has its parallels", I didn't equate Konoha or Ame directly to either country so don't put words in my mouth. Considering the conflict is literally still ongoing, ofc Ill use it as a "real world example"
Some people seem to expect analogies to be a 1 to 1 exact replica. These people must save themselves. They are fundamentally mistaken about what an analogy is and until they realize that, there's really no way to move forward. At least that's the conclusion I've come to over the years of both internet and in person discourse 🤷🏾
@@NlsnBckr08 The video still tries to make that connection by showing specific images the creator clearly wanted to emphasize the Israel Palestine conflict even if he doesn't out right say it, and even if its not exclusive to this conflict it's still makes hot takes comparisons between many aspects of real world conflicts to a fictional conflict.

Yahiko mirrored Naruto's ideology because he also was taught and believed in Jiraiya's vision like Naruto did.

Like you can write it better.@@mmartinez5136
@@reignjudgment1028 Didn't Naruto say “I’m going to kill you” to Haku?

@@JuubiTaz pain arc truly is goated
You can see him fighting all of the fucking urges and desires to kill just to ask pain to tell his story
And the moment he asked pain that, you could tell nagato was shook
This is the reason why I think Boruto just has inter dimensional aliens as their opps. It gives the villages an enemy to justify their peace…which still proves Pain’s point but allows for no real answer to Pain’s question to Naruto
It's like Sasuke said, the 5 great nations needed a common enemy in order to stop fighting amongst each other and to direct all that hatred towards a mutual threat.
If you like topics like that, I highly suggest my "does Sasuke's revolution make sense"
th-cam.com/video/pNmtzkjcprs/w-d-xo.html
“This world shall know pain”
This world must know Pain.
I see Pain vs Naruto as a confrontation of the two answers to the cycle of hatred. They are essentially two types of messiahs
Pain is the savior of his own people; he is grounded in reality and is a warmongerer revanchist that brings peace to his kin by the sword (and he fully embraces it, not shying away from admitting so), much like the traditional, old semitic Messiah
Naruto is an universal savior; he *has* unrealistic ideas and endeavours and despite having known the worst he still has hope for this world, he is much more Christ-like in that regard
Bro really compared naruto to jesus
I mean it fit since naruto ended up being written as essentially the reincarnation of ninja Jesus.
The biggest mistake was Naruto being a a reincarnation of a son of God
@@TrafalgarWaterDLaw-dl5cm
You are correct on all counts.
You brought me to tears with this video, amazing work.
Enjoyed your video; great analysis. I love it when TH-camrs make parallels between a fictional story and the real world.
I think the other eco Akatsuki were done much dirtier (Deidara, Sasori & Kakuzu)
It was Nagato who located Kabuto, so you can say that he was important in the end, even being a reanimation
I don't think Naruto himself is far from what's needed. I think he's written like an naive idealist, but in life, it are those people who shine like Naruto who set an example. Naruto is a character who never becomes jaded, and forgives. He's a shining example of what makes the show so beautiful in the first place.
Exactly like Mandela MLK and many others who were agent of peace were also called idealistic until their movements created peace 😊
Insightful, detailed and somehow concise. Nicely done. The background music is also very fitting 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The video deserves to go viral
This might be your best video yet. Kudos! 🎉👏
My favorite part about Naruto is how it actually gave me a reality check about different views in the world
A villain is a hero in another person's story, and vice versa
We always hear what the winning side has to say but not the losing side because history is written by the victors
Pain and the Akatsuki are the reasons why I look at the world through a "neutral" perspective
Best video ive ever watched
pain was willing to sit down and talk to his enemy about ideologies and potential solutions to the cycle of hatred. naruto was willing to hear him out and give him mercy even after all the pain he'd caused. took his words to heart and tried to find his own solution. political rivals, whether it be candidates or even the average person, often refuse to understand each other. i think that lack of unity and mutual understanding, even while having differing ideals and solutions, is why evil often prevails today.
nicely worded!
Sick video yoo!! Peace for all ❤️
thanks brother ❤
Kishimoto gave us some hints between their relationship, but it was never fully executed and I find it interesting how
Nagato NEVER talks about Obito, like at all!

Idk about that, I wanted to see Obito succeed much more than Pain and many other villains from other shows as well.
not really, i dunno why people act like pain's plan was a guaranteed peace. it was pretty much "nuke everyone, then once the future generations have forgotten how bad it felt to get nuked, nuke each other, and continue the cycle" like, its just the cycle of hatred but worse

But when shit hit the fan he did take the reigns. Only it was to late by then.

There's no right side of War

Television shows of all kind are just plays off reality of past present and future events to come. Those that thought peace would happen under Naruto or anyone no matter how strong or idealistic just listen to Madara Uchiha. There is no such thing as peace in a cursed world. Where there are winners there will be losers. Etc etc.

He's also always in the shadows, since not even Ame citizens knew how he looked, so I doubt cultural acceptance was important to him
Maybe Kishi couldn't find a way to have the tattoos make sense narratively. It's not like he suck black rods in him just for fun (pause😅)
What, you think nagato tatted up his friends corpse after he died?
Good bro vid
I find it funny how kishimoto who made a series about people getting caught in bigger things got caught in bigger things himself
u know what they say, life imitates art
sounds more like analyzing the difference between Naruto and Sasule, pure good and pure evil
@@TizOnly1 whilst I agree with everything else you say ,but saying both sasuke and nagato solutions is crazy talk.

Why the 4 minor hidden villages don’t get a name as kage. Also first
Kage is a name reserved for the leaders of the 5 great nations, the minor villages are deemed too small I guess
@@moatazabdelraouf4059 I doubt that's the in universe explanation. Probably is the reason out of universe though
How exactly was Pain inspired by John Willis?
Naruto problem is that he is too naive and idealistic he thinks that friendship can magically bring peace to the world
Probably Pain's own terms of Justice is much more reasonable than the Justice of the Marines from One Piece where they use it as an excuse for their sometimes horrible and deprived actions.

Their pretty much a fascinating tropes that gives gives more debt and complex writing.
Plus geopolitics
Don't you think that the proper solution to peace is the search within ourselves? Otherwise by ignoring that would bring problems all around us.
peace is a collective effort, everyone has to put their personal sense of "justice" aside & sacrifice it for there greater good, kinda like Naruto did to Nagato
In real life, everything is much grayer, and the virtues that politicians in their country preach may be empty words, while millions agonize in war and famine.
very well written comment! I haven't seen FMA in too long, you might have inspired me to rewatch it again!

@@sammy94780554Hmm. Well it sounds like what the muslims did with jews in the very beginning. Which is why a lot of jews fled to Europe. Israel is where jews come from. Over 3000 years of historical evidence.
Go ahead and read the quran and what it tells muslims to do with jews and christans. Palestine is not even an arab word. It's a name a roman emperor replaced Israel with. It stuck around because of Turks.
Pain is right
Pain ant wrong he ant right but he sure the hell is not wrong
Free Palestine and free everyone in America living and suffering under Capitalism!

But capitalism got me this phone that I'm using to watch this TH-cam video about Naruto.😭

And maybe I could also assume exactly what they mean bye projecting my insecurities onto them!
Man, I wish I could see a bunch of stuff that isn't there when somebody says a single comment. If I could only demonize people who think differently than me! Or better yet, I could just go and pick a fight with someone and assume that they agree with everything that I think is wrong even though there is literally no reason to think that!
Oh wise one, please teach me how to be smart like you!
