    I broke the rear bracket that connects to the hose. I never thought about taping it up like you did. We must be brothers from another mother, the way we like to get every bit of use out of a piece of equipment before we trash it.

    I have a midea 5k, it was short cycling due to low volatage on the oil rig, I got a 10 gauge extension cord hooked to a reastate voltage regulator to give me 115-125v at all times. It worked great until recently. i cleaned everything out but still it shuts off in the heat of the day when i need it most, all voltages are fine. I think its time for a new one, proabably gonna get an LG model after seeing this video, that ac you had apart looks much better built on the inside.

    Hey ! I have the exact same AC. However, my problem is, the A/C start cooling for about 30 second, and then get back to Fan mode, and after 10 min, restart this loop again. The room has 0 chance to get colder with this, i only get cold air if i stand infront of it during the cooling phase. Do you have any fix for that? My model is LP0910WNRY2. i think some others model have a manual mode. Mine seems to only run on auto/eco mode

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s short cycling. Usually happens when the filters are dirty filters which will restrict airflow causing overheated coils or frozen coils. Try cleaning them. Keep the vents unobstructed by walls. Also could be low on refrigerant. Don’t forget to see if your thermostat is at the right setting for your room size.

    Hi. I have a SereneLife portable ac SLPAC10 model. It keeps shutting off and displaying an E5 error message. I can't locate where to drain any water from but I've tried tilting the unit to see if any water comes out. I've unplugged overnight and it continues displaying the error code E5. What else can I try? Is it worth it to have an ac person come out to fix it?

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, the condensation drain line is clogged. Take a wire hanger, stretch it out and stick it in the line. The drain plug should be on the back of the unit at the bottom.

    Hello. I've had my unit for less than a year and begin using it 5 months ago. Over the last couple of weeks, it has been filling up with water just about every day, shutting off, and I have to drain it (bottom plug). Also, the air is nowhere near as cool as it was before this filling issue started. I have never used the "dry" (dehumidifier) function at all, and it is set to "cool," and both filters are clean (top and bottom).
    What could be causing this to happen, and how can it be fixed? Thank you for your response.

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Possibly a clogged drain hose. Take off the drain cap. Check the opening for debris. Use a vacuum to suck out any blockages, or use a wire to clear it.

    I just bought a brand new unit in Portugal and it's short cycling :( My offgrid space gets up to 38C/100F and yet my unit refuses to behave. It draws about 2,500W and my inverter can deliver 3,000W no problem. It's 14,000 BTU and my space is 40m2 about 430ft2. I have a feeling it's my space gets entirely too hot (severe greenhouse effect) and the unit just can't handle it... I dunno what to do.

      If you can shade any windows from the outside that would be a big help already since there is less energy coming in through the windows, maybe plant some trees next to the cabin and get roller shutters.

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are your vents obstructed? Up against a wall? That could restrict airflow and cause short cycling. All other reasons would not apply to a brand new unit. 14,000 BTU’s should be enough for that size room.

    Can the room be too hot initially and overheating the compressor?
    Can the cord be restricting current to the compressor cycle?

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and yes. The rating of the cord can affect the current. Check the machine decal for amp consumption. Replace a damaged cord obviously.

    What about using a garden hose on the lower half of unit..the coils?
    Ive seen this done and seemed to work...I ordered a capacitor, if that doesnt work im going to try the hose....

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, you can use a hose to clean the coils but you do not want it on the spray setting. The spray setting is too powerful and may bend the fins. Adjust the pressure to a gentle stream.

    I have a Delionghi Pinguin. It runs and only blows hot air and it periodically turns off then back on. The room is hot as it is where I do wood crafting and a sewing room. I just bought a brand new LG 8000 portable. I hooked it up and turned it on and as soon as the compressor kicks on it shuts back off and the dirty fliter light blinks. Its brand new. I transported the AC on its side and have read that you need to let it set for 12 to 24 hours on google. However, nothing in the instructions mentions this. Did I mess up my new AC by starting it to soon after transport?

      Laying on its side may have damaged the compressor as well as other components like the evaporator coils. The refrigerant can also be disturbed to the point of not flowing properly.

    Hello! I have this exact portable AC unit. I am just now running into problems with it after recently cleaning the AC filter a couple days ago. I keep getting the “FL” signal and the bottom drain pan if full a causes the float switch to move up and shuts off the unit. Why is it all of a sudden I am getting so much moisture that I have to drain the unit every four hours? It’s driving me crazy. Any comments you have would be helpful! I also want to note that the humidity levels in the room are higher than normal (we are in the rainy season of Florida) but it’s never affected it before until I recently cleaned the filter.

    • @Caliber8Tools
      @Caliber8Tools  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dirty filters can cause evaporator coils to freeze up and thaw out leading to excessive water in the pan but you cleaned them. So it’s probably due to the high humidity, which is the cause of the FL signal coming on. More water is being condensed than it is being evaporated. Until the humidity lowers you may have to keep your draining schedule. A clogged drain line can also contribute to a frequently full drain pan.
