Basically, when I turn it on, it blows out cold air like normal, but overtime it blows out less and less air. After a couple minutes I only have this very small "breeze" of cool air coming out, which is definitely not strong enough to cool down my room. This started happening out of nowhere and I have no idea how to fix it. I drained the water out, cleaned my filters and the issue is still persisting. Note that this happens even though the room temp my AC is reading is not at the desired temp I told my AC to cool down my room to. If you have any idea how I can fix this, I would love your help. Thank you!
Could be a refrigerant leak, in which case you have to find the leak by spraying soapy water on the lines to see where it’s bubbling up. If it’s minor you can patch it with Super glue. If it’s multiple holes you may have to replace the lines. Could also be the compressor, in which case you have to replace or repair that.
Thank you so much sir for the videos its really helpful But i do have a question i have a problem with my btu7000 air conditioner, Its cools up for few minutes and later give warm air, and later also bring cold air and that cycle continues over and over, what should i do to make it stay cold and don't fluctuate on cold and warm air ? Please sir help me
If it’s not the compressor, try plugging it into a single outlet circuit. Also make sure you have it plugged directly into the wall outlet, no extension cord. Make sure the filters and coils are clean.
Hello, i recently bought an AC and there's water in the tray at the bottom, is it normal ? There's not much but enough to spill a little when i pick the AC up and lean it. Thank you :) !
@@Caliber8Tools Oh okay ! I thought it was collected in a tank that is linked to the opening with which i drain the AC, i didn’t know that the water was supposed to rest at the bottom and thought something was wrong 😅 thank you !
Is the air coming out of the exhaust tube contaminated ? I have a room in my basement I need to cool but no windows . Could I run the exhaust tube outside of the room into the rest of the basement? It’d only be running for a short time.
Make sure your vents are not blocked. This can cause the condenser coils to get too hot and heat up the room. Dirty evaporator coils, leaking refrigerant and a faulty thermostat can cause it as well
I have a problem were my exhaust air is so hot it eventually turns off when it overheats so I took a leaf blower and put it on the hot fins in the back to help and it won’t turn off the fins are clean so I don’t understand how it’s so hot
Could be a dirty filter. Make sure there are no kinks in the exhaust hose. Coils may be dirty or clogged. Refrigerant leaks can cause overheating as well
No, they are sealed systems designed to last the life of the unit. Unless, there is a leak, at which point you would need to take it to the pros to fix.
So my room is still hot even tho the main vent is Infront of my door, Im just wondering if it's possible to put the hose on the door since I don't have any window that can open
hi my LG portable got E9 error, you know how to fix it, It doesnt cooling at all and breath out hot air so weak not like before 😓 I just used it 3 months last summer it is still brand new.
I was trying to convert one of these to dual hose. I thought the small vent on the side was used for cooling the "hot side" (I guess that's called the condenser?) but upon watching this it looks like both vents end up connected together, meaning the conversion would not be possible. Is that correct?
Thank you so much for such an informative video!! I’m wondering if there’s a chance you can help me figure out what is wrong with my portable AC. Everything works except it will not blow any air out of the exhaust at all. I first began having trouble with it when it started needing the water drained every two hours or less. That’s where the first problem started, but then it just stopped blowing any air out of the exhaust. It won’t blow hot or cold air, just nothing. Do you by chance have any ideas what that could be? I hope it’s OK that I’m asking you this, my house is so hot I just thought I would give it a shot. Regardless, thank you so much for your video!!
Couple of things, filters could be completely clogged and dirty or compressor could of issues. Is it a portable ac or standalone hvac system that may also have low refrigerant(Freon) levels?
Thank you so much for replying to my question!! My filters are totally clean so unfortunately that is not the issue. It is a Sunpentown portable air conditioner - the kind where the unit is inside the house and is vented with a large hose from the unit to a window. I hope that makes sense. It is not one of those air conditioners that cools the whole house, just one room.
Great vid! I have a portable AC and Heat. Does duct need to be connected to window on “heating” mode? Not sure how heating works on these things. I got the black + decker BPACT14HWT
Yes, it could be a window, a cold air return duct or even a wall, which you would have to cut a hole in the wall for that but it’s an option. Either way in the heating process it’s cold air that is being expelled vs the cooling process in which heat is being expelled.
Can I use a portable ac under my hardtop gazebo? I’m in Georgia and need to keep cool so I can enjoy my outdoor space. I don’t want an evaporative (swamp) cooler.
I have two LG portable AC systems that stopped blowing cool air. The Blower is working, but both coils are neither hot or cold. They remain at room temp even though the compressor is getting super hot. What could be the problem?
so in a nutshel, these type(portable ones) are using their hardly cooled room air to cool down the condensor! so that means they are not efficent at all! or if im wrong someone correct me please!
The room air is being recycled and passes over the cold evaporator coils back into the room as cooler air while the condenser coils expel the heat extracted from the air to the outside.
Why is mine dumping water right in the fan motor? My evaporator radiator looking part is covered in water as well. Not just the copper pipes of it. So much it blows water out on us. I would assume it would blow the water out the exhaust but it doesn’t.
Clogged drain pipe is the most common reason for this. Remove the drain pan, look for the small drain hole and use toothbrush, or toothpick to clear any dirt or debris from the hole.
@@Caliber8Tools thanks. It’s the same unit as you did in your video. So sadly not drain pan to take off. I tore it apart. Poured water on the top drain pan n water went out the pan. Into the clear tube that goes out right side to upfront n drops it right in the blower motor housing. To see why, looks like I’ll have to take the control panel off and look down in blower housing and see why it’s dropping it there.
My LG unit is no longer functioning as good anymore. It used to blow out ice cold air and now it’s mediocre somewhere between warm and cold. Any ideas of what I can check?
@@Caliber8Tools okay so totally embarrassing but I had it in front of a window that had drapes hanging down. It was sucking the drapes against the back preventing airflow 😂😂😂😂. Appreciate your help man. And your informative video
Is it correct that a single hose unit is inefficient because it expels cool room air from the room? Do two-hose models do a better job because they allow cool air to remain in the room?
Yes single hose units expel hot air but in doing so they create a negative pressure in the room which attracts hot air from other rooms. The 2 hose system uses one hose to expel hot air and the other sucks in outside air and cools it for the room so no negative pressure is created because the air is constantly being replaced and cooled. The 2 house system is more expensive.
The condensor sucks the room condtioned air and expells outside, I am having ब्लूबस्टार portable ac which always creating negative pressure in the room, and it sucks hot air from the door or windows, and didn't coll the room at desired temp mostly not below 30 deg with 39 ambient, plz explain
I'm using the same model, but it blows some of its warm air together with cool air. I have been cleaning its filters regularly. I don't know what is wrong with it. Also, its body feels warm/hot to the touch when using it.
@@Caliber8Tools i have 2 portable air conditioners and i opened both of them one has a float switch inside and one doesn’t could that mean they made it wrong ? Because it leaks from the bottom and it never get the full error code on the lcd screen
There is a good amount of copper, for example the tubing for the refrigerant and the motor winding. However you can’t scrap the refrigerant, you need an expert for that because of EPA requirements. So that cost may or may not make scrapping worth it if your trying to make money of it.
My portable AC has some burning smell when I run it. Last time I used it was a couple months ago. Is this normal? I tried to google it but couldnt find any relevant info regarding to this portable unit.
@@Caliber8Tools thank you for replying. Also follow up on this, my uncle came over to try to check on it but there is no smell this time. Is it still safe to use? Thank you
Excellent. My only constructive criticism is if needing to clean the coil fins, the utmost of care must be used while using a vacuum as not to damage or crush them. I'd use a soft paint brush and vacuum, never touching the fins with the vacuum head. Crushing them will greatly impeded heat transfer and as well as the efficiency/performance of the unit. Thank you for your video my friend.
@@mick8888V That's a great quote emphasizing the importance of doing things correctly the first time. It suggests that taking shortcuts can lead to more work later on, as mistakes will eventually need to be corrected. Investing time and effort upfront can save time and resources in the long run.
Is the drain hose submerged in the water. If so it won’t drain. It needs to be pulled out. Attach a water hose to the upper hole and flush any clogs out.
Attach a water hose to the upper port/hole and flush the drain line. Make sure the drain line hose is not touching the water in the drain pan, otherwise it won’t drain.

Excellent presentation! 🙌
Glad it helped.
Perfect video. 10/10. Wonderful
Gas it helped.
Thank you so much sir for the videos its really helpful
But i do have a question i have a problem with my btu7000 air conditioner,
Its cools up for few minutes and later give warm air, and later also bring cold air and that cycle continues over and over, what should i do to make it stay cold and don't fluctuate on cold and warm air ?
Please sir help me
If it’s not the compressor, try plugging it into a single outlet circuit. Also make sure you have it plugged directly into the wall outlet, no extension cord. Make sure the filters and coils are clean.
Hello, i recently bought an AC and there's water in the tray at the bottom, is it normal ? There's not much but enough to spill a little when i pick the AC up and lean it. Thank you :) !
It’s normal. It’s the drain pan, where the excess moisture drains into. You have to empty it periodically.
Yes you can. it’s only pushing the hot air. It’s not contaminated.
What about the plug that's midway up the unit? Not the plug at the very bottom. Do I need to empty it, or do I add water to it?
Not sure what plug you are referring to. Send me a time stamp.
My portable unit is brand new and making my room humid. Can this be fixed?
Make sure your vents are not blocked. This can cause the condenser coils to get too hot and heat up the room. Dirty evaporator coils, leaking refrigerant and a faulty thermostat can cause it as well
Damn this was very informative. I just subscribed. Great job 👏🏽
Appreciate you. Glad it helped.
Refrigerant leaks can cause overheating as well
Just curious to know, Does portable aircons need gas refill to work effectively? As mine is 6yrs old..it still does the job.
Let me know pls
No, they are sealed systems designed to last the life of the unit. Unless, there is a leak, at which point you would need to take it to the pros to fix.
I have one exactly like this...and the compressor just stopped working. What caused that?
Common reasons for that are dirty condenser coils, low refrigerant charge, blocked suction lines.
Thanks for explaining.can u explain the air circuits of evaporator and condenser
Glad it helped.
So my room is still hot even tho the main vent is Infront of my door, Im just wondering if it's possible to put the hose on the door since I don't have any window that can open
If you can and it works why not. Make sure the exhaust vent doesn’t have any leaks, sending hot air back into the room.
hi my LG portable got E9 error, you know how to fix it, It doesnt cooling at all and breath out hot air so weak not like before 😓 I just used it 3 months last summer it is still brand new.
You may have to clean the filters and evaporator coil. Also check the Freon level.
I was trying to convert one of these to dual hose. I thought the small vent on the side was used for cooling the "hot side" (I guess that's called the condenser?) but upon watching this it looks like both vents end up connected together, meaning the conversion would not be possible. Is that correct?
Correct.
@@Caliber8Tools darn. Thanks.
I have that same AC. Does good job cooling my apartment but I just wish it was a little quieter. Even on low setting it's a bit loud.
How do I add refirgerant to this same model ?
These are sealed systems. You can take it in and let the pros do it.
I have an E3 error on the same unit. how do I fix it ?
What’s the problem.
You can use it to provide a cool breeze of air.
I have two LG portable AC systems that stopped blowing cool air. The Blower is working, but both coils are neither hot or cold. They remain at room temp even though the compressor is getting super hot. What could be the problem?
Are the coils dirty, they could need cleaning.
@@Caliber8Tools No, I cleaned them
Are there some “mini ACs without compressor”?
No unless it’s a ductless unit or an evaporative cooler also called a swamp cooler.
so in a nutshel, these type(portable ones) are using their hardly cooled room air to cool down the condensor! so that means they are not efficent at all! or if im wrong someone correct me please!
Check exhaust hose for leaks or blockages, if hot air can’t get out, the ac can’t cool the room.
@@Caliber8Tools okay so totally embarrassing but I had it in front of a window that had drapes hanging down. It was sucking the drapes against the back preventing airflow 😂😂😂😂. Appreciate your help man. And your informative video
EXPANSION VALVE. very interesting. Thanks.
Glad it helped.
"EXPANSION VALVE" lmao
@@macotek my Fav part. 2x
Lol. Though, it looks to me that it is more like a capillary tube. Works in a similar way to an expansion valve.
I have a sharp, but the bottom drain broke. What can I use to plug it so don't have water running out?
Your talking about the pan? If so you can use some fast drying caulk or sealant.
@@Caliber8Tools thank you!
is there drain holes that get plugged causing unit to leak and where are they located?
There are drain ports located on the bottom at the back depending on the model.
@@Caliber8Tools Inside I know there are two outside
Is it correct that a single hose unit is inefficient because it expels cool room air from the room? Do two-hose models do a better job because they allow cool air to remain in the room?
Yes single hose units expel hot air but in doing so they create a negative pressure in the room which attracts hot air from other rooms. The 2 hose system uses one hose to expel hot air and the other sucks in outside air and cools it for the room so no negative pressure is created because the air is constantly being replaced and cooled. The 2 house system is more expensive.
So where can i get it fix at in the Connecticut area?
Look up Hvac repair in your area.
Thanks!
👍 Nice one, what about evaporative air coolers; are they any good and if so what’s the best place to use them??
They work, in hot dry temperatures. Desert towns for instance.
The condensor sucks the room condtioned air and expells outside, I am having ब्लूबस्टार portable ac which always creating negative pressure in the room, and it sucks hot air from the door or windows, and didn't coll the room at desired temp mostly not below 30 deg with 39 ambient, plz explain
good job ... can you do another air conditioners video compering the Airleo type and how it works to other room air conditioners
Thanks. I’ll put that on my list.
From where does it suck in the heat from the room?
It doesn’t suck heat, as the air runs over the coils filled with refrigerant the air becomes cool. So it makes warm air cooler.
@@Caliber8Tools But where does that warm air enter the unit?
I feel smarter now . Thank you for explaining it so well 😂 .
You are, Glad it helped.
Can a 2.5kva inverter power this
How do I stop mine from leaking on the floor?
May need to tighten the drain plug or cap. Or empty the drain pan.
@@Caliber8Tools Thank you!!
I'm using the same model, but it blows some of its warm air together with cool air. I have been cleaning its filters regularly. I don't know what is wrong with it.
Also, its body feels warm/hot to the touch when using it.
Check for exhaust leaks.
Where does the water goes through to go into the internal panel at the bottom ?
There is a reservoir that collects the moisture and drains it to the pan.
@@Caliber8Tools i have 2 portable air conditioners and i opened both of them one has a float switch inside and one doesn’t could that mean they made it wrong ? Because it leaks from the bottom and it never get the full error code on the lcd screen
I’m not gonna lie, it sent me at the 2 “…. EXPANSION VALVE…” parts 🤣😭
But nonetheless, great video, wonderful explanation, and Love your voice.
Appreciate the feedback.
That was funny
So how much copper is in a portable AC? Worth scrapping?
There is a good amount of copper, for example the tubing for the refrigerant and the motor winding. However you can’t scrap the refrigerant, you need an expert for that because of EPA requirements. So that cost may or may not make scrapping worth it if your trying to make money of it.
My portable AC has some burning smell when I run it. Last time I used it was a couple months ago. Is this normal? I tried to google it but couldnt find any relevant info regarding to this portable unit.
May need maintenance. Parts may be overheating. Do not use it as there may be an electrical issue that can cause a fire.
@@Caliber8Tools thank you for replying. Also follow up on this, my uncle came over to try to check on it but there is no smell this time. Is it still safe to use? Thank you
Good explanation, thanks!
Glad it helped.
What's it hosespower range plz
?
Thanks for the tip.
There is a cheap tool available to straighten the cooling fins , like a comb😂
@@avimango46 I remember an old adage: If you don't have the time to do something right, what makes you think you'll have the time to fix it.
@@mick8888V That's a great quote emphasizing the importance of doing things correctly the first time. It suggests that taking shortcuts can lead to more work later on, as mistakes will eventually need to be corrected. Investing time and effort upfront can save time and resources in the long run.

Im trying to build one from a box shaped humidifier with a fan at the back
Very informative and helpful video. Thank you.
Glad it helped.
How do you fix a portable AC that won't drain water in the top and bottom drain hole?
Is the drain hose submerged in the water. If so it won’t drain. It needs to be pulled out. Attach a water hose to the upper hole and flush any clogs out.
Attach a water hose to the upper port/hole and flush the drain line. Make sure the drain line hose is not touching the water in the drain pan, otherwise it won’t drain.
