Hey ETA, love your vids. If you set Halo Infinite to match the minimum frames to the maximum frames, it will turn on dynamic resolution. So min 60 max 60, and the game will do the rest.
CPU wise, this is better than the Steam Deck, as you said, GPU wise Steam Deck is better. Now, remember next year it might be a new Aya neo with Zen3+ chips (the 6800U will come with a RDNA2 GPU). So, by the time the steam deck appears there would be something more powerful and within the same form factor (with potentially a better power per watts).
@@goozebump Hmnn... Sorry but I doubt the steam deck will have "mass adoption", in the middle of a problem to get parts, competing in production with apple Microsoft, Sony for tsmc and AMD batches... Sorry but this form factor won't be "mass adoption" anytime soon, for next 2 years this devices will be for the enthusiasts, people that can pay more for better. Just look at the comments of those people in PC forums, the guys that want steam deck are constantly replying to people that say they will prefer more powerful versions despite the good price, the primarily target audience (steam users with high end PCs) don't want underpowered hardware (I do believe their way of thinking is flawed but... Is their way of thinking anyway :/). So having more options will be better, I, personally, would wait for the Zen3+ chips.
@@bland9876 Hmnn, it depends, PC gaming for new games will be for 4 cores (but if you use windows those 4 cores won't be enough, at best 6 will be becoming ideal, by 4 I mean real cores not threads), but yeah, GPU is important but if the CPU eats too much resources and gets too power hungry that means the GPU might have its issues (this is why valve will support heavily proton and Linux, and for other stuff... XD). Where CPU is really important will be emulators of some consoles, wiiu, PS3, xbox360, switch, the future PS4 emulator, for this stuff more cores will be key, since most of this devices uses more the CPU than the GPU.
Despite the fact that I'm not currently running with Linux, I'm still excited for Steam Deck. However, I wonder if everyone's expectation is a little high. I'm amazed by the Aya Neo Pro and some other hand held consoles, but how much better will the Steam Deck actually be?
Probably 10-30% more GPU performance .while being more efficient .. the Van Gogh APU in the steam Deck uses Zen 2 CPU cores and RDNA 2 GPU cores while the 4800u in the AYA is using the same CPU core but Vega graphics core is much slower than RDNA 2.
@@Navie. The Steam Deck does use the same cores but there is only half the amount of it (4C/8T vs 8C/16T on the AYA NEO Pro). It's clocked lower too (Max clockspeed is 3.5GHz vs AYA NEO Pro's 4.4GHz max clockspeed). It's gonna be interesting who wins : Steam Deck's faster GPU or AYA NEO Pro's faster CPU.
I am also excited for the steam deck. I reserved one the day after the release day to reserve. I did a bit of research and I'm curious about how live streaming video games on it will be.
I know that here is not big competition in handheld space just yet but for the price it's hard to justify the device... The power is there and storage is there but at this price you might as well buy some "Thin and light" gaming laptop even if it's not a handheld it will have much more power. This would be fine at $800 pricepoint
pretty neat that AYA invested in software and make quick tuning much easier, something that major OEMs are lacking and even AMD. curse you for not bringing tweaking tool to mobile APU. even my A6-3400M has Overdrive
I think Valve have nailed the ergonomics of the Steam Deck. Ergonomics are very important to me. I have to use the hori split pad pro on my switch, because my large hands cant get on with the joycons
haha they haven't nailed ergonomics at all. It's enormous. They need to significantly reduce the size. And all of these portable PCs need a display with variable refresh. It's useless for emulation until they do it.
I have some ideas for your next video : - RPCS3 : i think God of War 3 / The Last of Us - Yuzu : marvel ultimate alliance 3 / astral chain - PC : red dead redemption 2 / genshin
Heads up, if you go into the Halo Infinite settings and set the MIN and MAX framerate to 60 it’ll stick much closer to 60/always hit 60 Leaving the min at 30 will give you performance as seen in the video I’d love to see how it handles it with 60 min and 60 max. Probably much better.
At 7:05 you ran it at 45w while charging. So we speculate that you been testing the Aya Neo while it’s plugged to the charger which can add up to its performance.
Is it just me then that prefers the look of this over steamdeck and the razer rearview mirror form factor. Loving the overlay in the box too and definitely the retro gameboy colours! Wish it had bit more of a rounded grip on the back. . . Handheld space is hot! Nintendo have their work cut out if Ms, Sony, Apple are entering the fray
It's weird, the steam deck has grown on me. When I first saw it I definitely thought the same thing, but now for some reason I REALLY like it... Best thing I can describe is the cyber truck, when I first saw it I thought it was goofy, now I really like it? Also I think it will probably feel a bit more ergonomic with those meaty side grips on it :)
Definitely the rounded and wider grips is a must improvement for the Ayaneo's ergonomics and I believe after that happens it will be an acquired taste for looks and a pereference for buttons layout
I think its great Nintendo are finally getting proper competition. Hopefully it will force them to actually innovate and release that mythical Switch Pro that's been rumoured and requested since forever.
With the Steam deck around the corner there's no real competition just cause of the price alone, for the money they want you're better of buying a high end gaming laptop.
While gaming on battery, the less battery level you play at the less performance you get if maxing out the battery wattage output. The rating of the battery might be 47whr but this doesn’t mean you will be able to obtain 47w continuously. As the battery voltage drops the output wattage drastically drops. Example: you may think that a 47whr battery might give you 47w for 1h, but this is not the case. The battery will give you 47w at full charge and decrease wattage output as it gets low with up 15w at around 20% battery remaining. The lower the battery gets the faster will drain.
@@beaconing7689 just imagine a plastic cup full of water. You drill a hole under the cup. The water will drain really fast with strong performance thanks to the water pressure, but as the water rinse down the pressure and performance decreases.
Whoa!!! 1200 bucks!!! Is this 2 or 3 times more powerful than the Steam deck?? It's around double or triple the price!!! Crazy!!!! I will be happy with 720p hand held gaming on a budget.
For over $1000 dollars it better be impressive lol. That PS3 performance was awesome. In reality though, the average person in the handheld market won't ever get this ,let alone even play it but it's still fun to see how far these things have come. Even the steam deck is in the price range that's really stretching it for the average consumer.
There are so many of these type of systems now, how can they all be profitable, I'd be concerned about warranty and long term support, as most of the companies seem to be small, that is one area the Steam Deck will have a massive advantage.
Valve doesn't exactly has a stellar record when it comes to warranty and support. I expect any widespread issues will just be redefined as intended design.
Very good point. Not exactly affordable either, they all seem to be priced around 1000-1200. And that’s very expensive for the performance to be trash or software be poorly developed.
The only ones worth considering for gaming is an AMD based system so the AYA NEO, OneX Player with the 4800u/5700u or the steam deck. The GPD Win Max lacks analog triggers and the GPD Win 3 is only Intel.
@@hibredtv Trash performance I am going to have to disagree. There isn’t a single game I cannot play at over 30 FPS at medium to high settings on these devices. The steam Deck will be really alluring though NGL.

First, Please measure input latency of both the built-in controls and a few different game controllers over both BT and USB. This all sounds awesome, but I’d like to get some hard numbers in input latency, especially with two controllers, to see if it offsets my want for a Switch. Second, I’d love to see a loading time comparison across several popular games like Doom Eternal, etc. Also, any word from the vendor on FSR and/or VRR support? I feel like that’s the killer feature missing from all these handheld PCs right now. Thanks for doing such a thorough job, I’m a big fan!
I would have turned of 2-4 CPU cores in Bios at once. Most games are GPU bound anyway for this device (except emulators), so would help to keep a lower system wattage but at the same performance. But that is just my preference. Well done on the review!
Even for Emulators I would do this. There are very few games that are capable of good multitasking. Even to this day, Faster cores are always better then many cores. Especially games for older Systems that do not have many cores in the first place.
MarioKart8 could be a good one to lock at 60 since it's a little easier to run. Over all nice to see a little performance bump. I am excited to see RDNA2 comming later next year in the steamdeck. It's gonna be pretty good 👍

How does it compare to the OneX Player? I have that one, but it's quite heavy as the screen is even bigger, 7" screen is a great size. I backed the AYA NEO first but jumped off once the OneX Player was revealed to back that one.
I'm going to go ahead and pick this up. I know everyone is different, but I'll say this. It's the level of performance I need for my daily driver. The emulation performance is where I need it to be, its a solid windows portable machine and I think for what you're getting it's priced realistically. I get that the magical steamdeck is "coming", but as an engineer I have some serious reservations about it. Its cheap..too cheap. Even for Valve whos known for throwing away money on these kinds of ventures. If you look at the manufacturing costs for these devices I think if Dell or HP made these yeah they should be under $1k, but not $400. I just don't buy it. It's also still vaperware. I'm also not even in the first queue. It could likely be 6 months before I get one even if its actually materializes in February. I want something I can use now, and as a a lifelong Valve fan...they do not have the best track record.
While I do agree it's not worth it from a performance standpoint, you'd be hard pressed to say it wasn't the exact same reason why the Nintendo Switch was successful in the first place. The Steam Deck (cheaper) and the Neo allows you to play your Steam games (+ more) virtually anywhere. That alone is worth it for a lot of people.

@@applehazeva2739 I have the steamdeck pre order; My version will come out later on. I got the nvme 512GB model

Man. If this was available as a kid. I wouldn't even have cared if we had a computer at home. I didn't even get a gbc until the SP was about to drop.
yeah, but this is also a PC and would have cost far more than GBC its not really directed towards kids but older demographs with some computer literacy.
Chances were our parents would have bought this for themselves.
I got one in 2000 or 2001 at the latest that didn't have working speakers. At least the headphone port worked. It was cheap, we were poor. Still have it twenty years later
Hey ETA, love your vids. If you set Halo Infinite to match the minimum frames to the maximum frames, it will turn on dynamic resolution. So min 60 max 60, and the game will do the rest.
Steam Deck should perform better in native games because of the RDNA GPU but I'm not sure about emulation games, it has less CPU cores
steam deck is half the price for 256gb version ;v
CPU wise, this is better than the Steam Deck, as you said, GPU wise Steam Deck is better.
Now, remember next year it might be a new Aya neo with Zen3+ chips (the 6800U will come with a RDNA2 GPU).
So, by the time the steam deck appears there would be something more powerful and within the same form factor (with potentially a better power per watts).
@@soragranda yes. Ut with a small market because the price will stop them from getting mass adoption.
Looking forward to you getting the steam deck so we can see how these all compare!..... Before I buy :p
The steam deck will have better GPU performance at less than half the price
@@Imjeezus That would be great then.
This would be fine at $800 pricepoint
awesome product! Nice video
awful price
i would love to see a Steam comparison between this and the Steam Deck or perspective Steam deck performance.
Ft
pretty neat that AYA invested in software and make quick tuning much easier, something that major OEMs are lacking
and even AMD. curse you for not bringing tweaking tool to mobile APU. even my A6-3400M has Overdrive
@@youtubesuresuckscock man, how incredibly dumb.
I have some ideas for your next video :
- RPCS3 : i think God of War 3 / The Last of Us
- Yuzu : marvel ultimate alliance 3 / astral chain
- PC : red dead redemption 2 / genshin
Heads up, if you go into the Halo Infinite settings and set the MIN and MAX framerate to 60 it’ll stick much closer to 60/always hit 60
Leaving the min at 30 will give you performance as seen in the video
I’d love to see how it handles it with 60 min and 60 max. Probably much better.
I had to do this on my pc for it to run well. The game isn't very optimized.
Been waiting for you to do this video. Can't wait for your review of the steam deck also.
this beast is more powerful than my main desktop oh the time we live in. This is wonderful.
Does it cost more or
@@lllllll5990 yes my desktop costs more than this handheld.
At 7:05 you ran it at 45w while charging.
So we speculate that you been testing the Aya Neo while it’s plugged to the charger which can add up to its performance.
$1300, damn. I think I will wait a bit more for my SteamDeck order and will grab an Andrpoid handheld on a side.
People who worship and buy Iphones don't care about price. I'm not one of those people.
@@100Bucks we get it you hate iPhone users lol
Yeah the aya looks the best out of the other handhelds on the market right now
I think its great Nintendo are finally getting proper competition. Hopefully it will force them to actually innovate and release that mythical Switch Pro that's been rumoured and requested since forever.
@Flip_91FTW haha I wish but no
With the Steam deck around the corner there's no real competition just cause of the price alone, for the money they want you're better of buying a high end gaming laptop.
I noticed this phenomenon on my smartphone, what is the cause ? what is the logic behind it ? I want to know 🤔
@@beaconing7689 just imagine a plastic cup full of water.
You drill a hole under the cup. The water will drain really fast with strong performance thanks to the water pressure, but as the water rinse down the pressure and performance decreases.
@@exklimexklim great analogy
@@beaconing7689 There is a voltage drop when the battery capacity decreases. Watts is Volts x Amps.
I would love to see how it handles switch emulation.
Very impressiv and nice channel 👍
I love the design of this. It looks super premium.

It's gonna be pretty good 👍
Good review of something I could never justify buying.
ETA...Could you do a video once or twice a year where you go over the top five handhelds comparing them and maybe a quick rundown of the rest? Hey eta I'm looking forward on you making a video testing aether sx2... It's 10 times better than Damon ps2
It's cool but I can't imagine paying the price. Why not just buy a gaming laptop?
While I do agree it's not worth it from a performance standpoint, you'd be hard pressed to say it wasn't the exact same reason why the Nintendo Switch was successful in the first place.
The Steam Deck (cheaper) and the Neo allows you to play your Steam games (+ more) virtually anywhere. That alone is worth it for a lot of people.
1400 Euro... this is not steam deck competition as some people in the comments imply. Far from it . This is for bratty rich kids that can life of their families wealth all their lifes.
Rather buy a laptop for that kind of money.
