  • This was a modernization and upgrade of a 1970 International Scout 800B. Power steering, disk brakes, poly fuel tanks, interior upgrades, and correction of years of poor maintenance.

    Very nice work! 100% Agree!
    110%:
There are quite a few (off the shelf) things that can be done (IHPARTSAMERICA). SII Leaf spring perches on the outside of the rear frame (roll) body mounts up front (body roll), reverse shackle (road tracking). Cost for upgrades: reasonable.

Nice. My brother bought an early Scout maybe a 66 and he got a great deal on it. The owner was anxious to sell and he said it needed a clutch. It was dark when we got there and my brother wanted to get a look at it in daylight so the guy cut the price in half and my brother still hemmed and hawed. My brother cut the price again figuring he could get his money back in parts and scrap. Well we got the Scout home and got it in the garage and with a drop light saw that it had a slave cylinder for the clutch. A little brake fluid and pumping of the clutch and we were out four wheeling that night. Scouts are a great ride.

I have an all original '68 Scout 800. I think it might be an A series. I just called a shop and am waiting on an estimate for upgrading the brakes to disk and power steering added. How did you do your power steering? I think I heard you say a Scout 2 parts? So, this should be doable and cheap? How much do you think I should be paying for those two things?

Buddy Quaid disk brake and power steering conversion on an 800 run about $4000 out the door.

Okay. I see a brake kit here: bit.ly/2lkXgvE
What kit or how did you do the power steering on that?

@@TheBinderBoneyard I got my Scout upgraded to disk brakes. But the ride is so rough and squeeky. Remember all original right now. I dont need/want a lift kit but I would like some new shocks. What did you put in this one? I got 2 poly tanks as well put in but still having start issues and choke issues. After rebuilding the carb twice, we put on a new carb but still has starting issues. Do you have the stock engine in that thing too?

Can you do all that on a '72 1310 4x4?
