Looking forward to seeing more modifications. I'm glad to see you have fitted the risers because it suits YOU better and not shying away from certain mods because of what others may think of them. Making the bike your own is definitely the greatest thing to do.
My hubby hates that I get to ride my motorcycle to work. I will usually ride about 3 days a week about 25 miles each way. All back roads and I live in Tennessee USA . So I get to ride from about end of march to about end of November. :) I have only been riding for about a year and a half but I've put a lot of miles on my little Ninja and love every moment of it!! So happy that you are sharing your vids!! There very helpful and informative!
Just put the same risers on mine as my elbow gives me grief and it's worked a dream. New riding position initially made me slip forward on the seat but soon got used to it and its fantastic
This is one of the coolest Monster videos I've ever seen. You are a truly proficient motorcyclist. I ride my 796 all over the Santa Monica Mountains and see horses in the street, too. :)
I too am a gal in my "middle years" new to motorcycling and 5 months ago I bought a 2012 M696. It took some getting used to, but I'm in love with both the bike and the riding experience. I really enjoy, and benefit from, you vids. Keep 'em coming. Santa is bringing my son a Go-Pro at Christmas so perhaps I can return the favour. I'm in Canada, so my riding season is pretty short. :-)
The bike is evolving! I know what you mean about being forced into sitting too forward. I felt awkward and unbalanced on my FZ6, especially riding downhill. I did a bar swap to Renthal Road Medium. Now I can sit back in the seat and the bike just feels right and easier to turn. Good luck with the next round of upgrades.
I only started to ride recently - cbt in Nov 2009, test in Mar 2010. Had wanted to learn for a while but family disuaded me. Wished I had done it sooner but loving it now
Was at the Ducati dealer today looking at the monster... One thing I DID NOT like was how low the bars were... I was too leaned over. This looks like a great solution! Thx
Yes. Toes on pegs and move your foot back and forward when using the pedals. Sit back on the seat away from the tank. Helps to get the correct lean for the corners and makes the use of weight effective. It works!
We only refed the cable around the frame. When I came back I had to adjust the bars slightly to bring the levers around closer to me, because I was reaching for the brakes and in the process revving the throttle at the same time!
Nice vid! After sitting on my mate's 696 I have to agree and would do this mod too, it's a rather sporty position which I can't imagine being too great over long distances lol.
I could be wrong but seemed like the bike was idling at lower revs when you altered the cable. Looks much more comfortable with the risers on. Good buy I say!
the handling is amazing isn't it. The only thing I wished for was a bit more acceleration. I have just put a race ecu on it and changed the front sprocket which makes a difference to the lower gear acceleration. I will do an upload shortly. Enjoy your monster, I adore mine xx
We both own cars too. I use my car to get to work weekdays. I had used my ER6f which had a top box but the boss was getting funny about parking the bike in the underground car park :0 Russ rides to work each day and very rarely uses his car. He is changing his car for a van for track days but he could just get away with two wheels.
There is a u.s. company that produces adjustable rear links that fit most Ducati ealier machines The Monster is the favourite for ride height adjustment, by screwing down the adjustable rear link this compresse's the rear shock slightly giving extra leg height for those in need ,you must adjust the front forks through the top yoke an equal amount to keep the bike level , i sold Ducati's for 6 years for a friends company, Ducati Leeds ,John in parts he can help you with an adjustable rear link.
Bonjour la video date un peu mais c'est exactement ce que je cherchais j'ai acheté la meme rehausse de guidon mais je n'arrive pas a trouver le couple de serrage ,auriez vous l'information ?merci
Its a GIPRO. I bought it online. i think it was about £80. It plugs into the ECU and hubby installed it without problem although he knows alot about bikes.
To mount on a helmet I would go for the drift as I think the GoPro looks a bit weird on a helmet. To use on a bike or for more versatility I would go for the GoPro. The GoPro is marginally better quality. I am lucky that I can have two cameras.
If i may? anyone considering raising the handlebar position on Monster machines that untilize traditional style handlebars, may want to take a look at the Renthall range of handlebars for road bikes ,these can make the riding position comfier, you can also buy an adjustable "Rear link" for the rear schock which replace's the non adjust standard link, this will lower the height of the bike a little for anyone who is vertically challenged! but remember you must also adjust the front forks equally
great video i also noticed that you wer using 2 different camera,s looked like a drift on ure helmet and a go pro on the bars how do u like the drift verces the hero 2 because im thinking on getting the drift myself instead of the go pro because oof the price
Hello there, Don't remember in which of ur videos but u surely mentioned a sport ECU installed on ur 696!What was it and where could I read about it or may be get it done even!
How did u start riding bikes btw have u always ridden them? Im hopefully going to go in for my direct access soon and i cant wait to have a proper bike.
I am not even sure they are branded as there are no labels or markings on them. I can't even recall where off the Internet I bought them. One of many purchases at that time I am afraid. Sorry

I love the roar of those exhausts. The standard cans sounded like a tractor!

Just ordered some 30mm risers for my TDM 900. Thanks for the tip about the throttle racing when on full lock - could be lethal. Ride safe.

Thanks for that handy tip ;-) Principal PA at school always calls me Tez. No one else has used it since I was at school :-)
We really love your video, we use it all the time for customers who need help with the install. Paper instructions don't do it sometimes. Cheers!
do you sell this item in the UK?, thanks.
destrozo We do ship to the UK from the US. Cost about $20.00, cheers!
Your bike sounds amazing :-)

Did you use a lowering kit on the seat to get your feet flat on the ground or was the seat height OK to start with?

You've said you want to have your toes on the pegs, not your heals. Is that something you've learned @ track day?
