Excellent video Dennis! Great explanation of why it is important to use the correct equipment. This will save me and my clients a lot of headaches down the road. Thanks for your hard work!

Hello Dennis. Great video and suggestions. We live north of Seattle and changed our Performance Pro Artesian motor yesterday and found that it is not pumping water. Do you have a suggestion for this problem?

I am not sure which option to choose from... a pump fed rdf setup or a pump fed bead setup for a 1400 gallon pond. What are your thoughts? I do want to eventually increase the size of my pond and have a bottom drain.

Hi ilovedragons and thanks for watching our video! I prefer to have RDFs work as gravity fed vs pump fed due to the fact that debis/fish poop gets to the filter intact and it's easier to remove by the filter screen than after it has been shredded into a million particles by the pump impeller. We prefer to install bead filter if pump fed. Now, with that been said, if in the future you want to increase the size of the pond and you are almost sure you can plumb a bottom drain for gravity fed system, then the RDF is your best bet. You can use it as pump fed for a while and switch the float sensors for gravity fed when you upgrade your pond. Almost all RDFs in the market give you that option. Let us know how things go.
