READ! In the video i forgot to say that you need to parent the cloth mesh to the head, sorry. To do that just add a child of constraint in the constraints tab and parent it to the head : ) I know, it's a very complicated process, in fact DON'T do it for each single strand like i showed in the video. If you don't wanna waste hours of your life: Apply this technique on the strands you really want to move. If the strands are similar in shape, weight 2/3/4 of them to the same bone; or if you have a female character do it ONLY for long hair, since this technique works really well for that. ;)
Wait a dang minute, so if you do this with the hair, then you can apply this technique to certain parts of the clothing OML🤯 I hope this video blows up!💯
This is pog although I already knew how to make hair presets this still taught me a lot of tips and tricks so thankyou so much and i'm also glad that ur back :D
Damn, awesome tutorial! I was looking into doing something like this myself, but couldn't figure out how to constrain a bone to a mesh, so this really helps! Also lil tip thats helped save me a lot of time when renaming things, when naming things like for example "Front_Hair.01, if you just change it to "Front_Hair.001" and then paste the same name for all the other bones Blender will automatically change the number at the end, like for example the second bone you name "Front_Hair.001" will have its name changed to "Front_Hair.002", the next one after that "Front_Hair.003" etc (it's the same thing that happens when you duplicate a bone) Also when doing that you can just hover your mouse over the bone name where you edit the it and just press CTRL + V and it'll paste it, no need to even click on it and go into "edit mode" (Both of these tricks also works for vertex groups) Hope that makes sense and hope it helps, at least I know its saved me quite a lot of time manually renaming every bone
I'm quite new to blender and I used the BlueEvil's Edit on this rig with the addon because I can easily add another thomas rig. I tried this tutorial on the BlueEvil Edit rig and it was not working, I spent a whole day figuring out how to do this in a different but similar way and I finally did it Edit: This is so time consuming but I'd say it is worth it
Hi, Thomas it’s me again. I just came up with a suggestion for a tutorial. I know it’s a big ask but I think that an animation tutorial is awesome. Not the whole process but the actual animation part. You are so good at it and I can’t think of anyone better to do it. Please consider it.
Thank you for the blender add on I fan of your animation, I am also an animator, but I like to animate not the Minecraft characters ik rig, but Minecraft character ik rig and fk
13:43 When you move your head in pose mode, the hair moves together, but it doesn't move exactly together and keeps getting misaligned with the head. Like a wig. Nvm it works
11:25 when I parent it, the hair go back to the default position and the scale is more bigger, how to fix that? I tested apply rotation, scale, transform, remove all vertex ,all modifier still didnt fix it
I like the idea here but there are a few shortcuts you could have taken to have gotten this down way faster mainly ctrl f2 for batch rename and select sharp edges to completely eliminate the need for any manual selection when creasing the edges I'm also sure there could have been a much better way for weight painting the hair it would just take some experimenting
Yeah, obviously there are faster methods to do that and i'm sorry if i didn't put that in the video. I'm not that experienced in rigging so thanks a lot for the tips
Great tutorial, I don't know if it was my lack of experience with the program or speaking a different language, but unfortunately I couldn't do it, the mesh doesn't follow in some points, it should be something relatively simple, but I really can't understand the problem, the rotation is also strange lol
Thank you very much!!! its a very helpful tutorial for me. I can't wait to you put a download link for this. But do we really have to do this long process on hair for each character? what is ur advice about this
Yes, this is a very complicated process. What i recommend is to do it only on the strands you really want to move. If you have a female character, that's where you suould use it. For a male character with short hair, instead of doing it for each single strand, you can add a row of bones for 3/4 strands at the same time, that will make the process faster. And as i said, do it only for the strands you need, nobody wants to do it for each single strand like i showed in the tutorial.
might be late but hope someone can help. i followed the tutorial and everything works perfectly, but i cant seem to be able to move my character/rig in object mode without the cloth hair mesh going crazy. its moves alot further than the rest of the mesh and ruins the whole hair set up. anyone know whats going on an able to help?
Overall a great tutorial, I will definitely use this technique for my animations, but I'm not sure how to you snap the bones to the strands. Is there some setting or button you have to use?
@Thomas Animations when i go to render mode in the layout, i get this beautiful ligthing and when i actually render the image out there is no lighting. Can you please explain this? Also great tutorial, keep going!
Hi you don't mind if I use your rate when I understand how to use a blender and post raging animations on TH-cam village don't mind writing okay and if you don't write against it I will definitely write a link in the description

You make me skin??????
For 3D
thanks for mentioning that, but something I would like to ask is, how did you get rid of the flat hair on the head? How did you edit the skin?

Yeah you can apply it everywhere
ITS HERE!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH THOMAS, THIS TUTORIAL IS A GEM!!!!!!!

This is gonna be so good for animations!!!
This is the tutorial I needed a couple of months ago. Ima redo all my rigs rn. Thank you so much.
Every mc animator with basic extruded hair needs to see this
Its to fancy for my low level leptop

could you export file .FPX 3D model and share ? Thanks
This helps a lot, i made the hair physics using cloth physics without bones which is very glitchy during animation... Thx a lot :)
That's a lot better than cloth physics hair. Thank you for uploading a tutorial like that! You're really good at tutorials too!
This video is really helpful and I am glad to see another one of your videos!
Can you do a lighting tutorial one day?
Your animation is the best.
I thought that you were seriously good at rigging but you're even better at tutorials. Hope to see more in the future. And thanks this was useful
I've never seen a youtuber that is so active. Thomas reacts to comments practically as soon as they are made
Since i don't post much i try to be as active as possible
bruh this is so COOL you are so good for minercraft animation
This is amazing!!!!!
ok FINALLY A UPLOAD AFTER 6 MONTHS
awesome! ill try this when i get my new powerful PC!
This need and aplause. This was POG!
just letting you know this method for hair also works for cloths like capes and what not, its alot better than just adding the cloth physics
I don't even use blender, but I really enjoyed watching this!
Thanks Thomas for the tutorial.
5:30 copy to select is not a option for me how do i fix that?
Finally i found it
Thank you so much ^_^
Thank you so much. I am looking for this tutorials.

Btw nice one 👌
Ok thanks so much for the technique looks awesome.
I'll try do code myself an addon that does most of the work in this video for me 🤔
Great tutorial.
yesss Thomas is back
Bro can you please make a tutorial on how to model and rig eyes and mouth like your characters. Please please.....
Very cool! You are very talented! One question: Exactly in the same way, can me make a cloak or tie?
Thank you!
Yeah, you can apply the same principle to whatever object you want

this is so good!!, can you make a tuto for the cloth ?
Спасибо за урок! Это настоящее волшебство!
у меня почему то волосы с физикой не движутся с игроком(только не в pose mode)
hey btw theres a addon called ridgid body bones that might speed up your procces a bit but great tutorial though :D
Thanks! If you prefere using an addon you can definitely do it, but i like to do it by hand :)
@@ThomasAnimations oh ok
How can it speed up the process? I'm curious about that
I meant how to add a map, how to make effects, how to at least run or walk, and how much you do the interval between animation points
You can already find some tutorials online. I'm not going to make other tutorials for now
thank you thomas animation
Can you make an updated version please, that'll be very useful
11:25 when I parent it, the hair go back to the default position and the scale is more bigger, how to fix that? I tested apply rotation, scale, transform, remove all vertex ,all modifier still didnt fix it
Remove the child of constraint before parenting it to the bones. However, if you parent it without automatic weights the hair shouldn't move.
Genius
hello thank you for the tutorial I hope u do a animation tutorial series pleaase
thank you so much
Around early 2020 I did evreything manualy from extruding to the individual strands, I didn't know about proportional editing
Pls make a little tutorial like how to make a rig, fingers, sharp bends and etc pls :D
Wow. Tysm!
in other tutorials they do not show, for example, how to bind a sword to a steve or how to create an effect like teleportation

@Thomas Animations when i go to render mode in the layout, i get this beautiful ligthing and when i actually render the image out there is no lighting. Can you please explain this? Also great tutorial, keep going!
You're using blender's built-in hdri which doesn't show up in the final render. You need to add lighting to your scene
