Based on the list at around 6:00, this is a list of Safe Cities. Bakersfield, Reno, Billings, Fargo, Amarillo, Lubbock, Oklahoma City, Wichita At least two cities are likely safe despite their proximity to target cities: San Jose and Fort Worth. The evacuation message is possibly wrong about it being too late to evacuate Houston.

But the displacement and loss of basic things that humans needs… which is why now, seeing people in America of “certain political affiliation” run around here screaming “civil war” and “national divorce”…. Like do you people even hear yourself? Do these people even know what comes with that? Do these men cosplaying as soldiers think they’re gonna just run out with their AR15’s, shoot a couple rounds and just get to go home when they’re done? War is not a water faucet you can just turn on and off whenever you want. Once it starts…. It doesn’t stop.

Sorry to destroy this but in 1989 Mikhail Gorbachev was in peace with usa he ended cold war in 1987 so after that year no aggressive studd happen in these 2 countries( Mikhail Gorbachev was a nice man died in 2022)
While I have several points of praise to offer, I also have a few criticisms. I’ll start with the latter. (1) The phrasing of the initial broadcast implies the Soviets struck first; but in the movie, who struck first was deliberately not stated because _it doesn’t matter who strikes first_ when you’re talking about nuclear war, and that was part of the entire point of the film. I’d advise removing the section that talks about those locations that have “survived Soviet strikes” to remain true to the spirit of the film. (2) Why wasn’t Lawrence, KS on the list of targets? (3) As ridiculous as it might sound, you really _do_ have to duck and cover in advance of a nuclear strike. The reasons are twofold: first, it will protect you from flash blindness; second, it will minimise the physical blast wave damage and protect the most vulnerable parts of your body from flying debris. A warning to this effect would likely have been amongst the citizen safety advice. (4) Your choice to set it in 1989 feels… off to me. _The Day After_ was the catalyst for Reagan’s 180 on his nuclear policy in _1983,_ and his efforts to _de-escalate_ tensions with the USSR, which did see a reasonable degree of success. I’m guessing you meant this to be an AU treatment of the movie, but the time choice, without an explanation of how things re-escalated doesn’t… feel terribly realistic. (5) I didn’t particularly care for the Hope Spot at the end, even with the “…Or was it?” tacked on. For me, it disrupted the bleakness of the movie’s ending. Remember that the very last scene was of one of the survivors broadcasting an “Is anyone out there?” message over a HAM radio multiple times… only to be met with silence, on every frequency he transmitted on. It’s… just another thing that feels inconsistent with _The Day After’s_ intended messaging and tone. Now the praise! (1) _Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU_ for including a warning _not to look at the blast_ in the survival advice. This is the first nuclear war EAS Scenario I’ve seen that has _ever_ mentioned it. I think maybe not enough people are aware of the flash blindness phenomenon. (2) Thank you for not over exaggerating the danger of fallout and treating it realistically. I just watched an EAS scenario video where it was portrayed so inaccurately it amounted to scaremongering, IMO, and totally ruined my willing suspension of disbelief. (I will not name names.) After that, watching a realistic treatment was _extremely_ refreshing and reassuring. (3) Other than the inconsistencies mentioned above, you did a _really_ good job following the timeline of events in the movie itself. Well done! For the things above, I have given you a thumbs up, especially because the first two points of praise so massively outweigh my criticisms. The way you handled the risks of fallout and your inclusion of flash blindness warnings are _vital pieces of information_ people _need_ to know in the event of a nuclear strike, and for that, you have my deepest thanks and massive kudos.
I might give one other pointer to this wonderful creator: the message specifically addressing the EMP for Kansas City would not have been possible. The EMP would have knocked out all electrical circuits rendering transmission via TV impossible.
