Thanks for getting Baron to the vet to have that cancer removed. It was very evident that it was causing him trouble urinating. Hoping for a quick recovery and no more problems down there. I watch some videos of horse rescue groups saving draft horses from slaughter houses. None of your horses will ever have to worry about that happening to them. I wish every horse owner took the care and love that you both give your horses. God bless and keep safe Jim and Brenda love all of your hard work to share these videos with us.
There is never a "too long" video when it comes to Baron. I'm just glad that handsome guy is going to be okay. Thank you Jim for taking us along with you to Baron's outpatient surgery, it was very interesting and informative!
Yes. I didn’t know the sliver was in my little finger. It was a stiff, plant fiber. Four months later it festered. I pinched it and it popped out. It was 1/4inch long. Unbelievable.
I am a surgical tech for 27 years. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Very informative and educational. Barron was on his best behavior. You handle him so well. Thanks for sharing.❤
Baron did such a great job at the vet. That door would have scared anyone! He is a handsome boy. Glad to know he's doing well. Skippy is sure growing, he's getting tall.
Jim and Brenda are very fortunate to live so close to Equine Vet who did an excellent procedure to resolve Baron's Issue . When I observed the volume of urine that Baron expelled . I knew the surgery had resolved the problem. Jim is such a great horseman and i know he'll watch out for any signs of infection in Baron with the assistance of Nurse Brenda.
Thank you Jim & Brenda for taking all of us along for the ride to the Vet. As an old farm boy, all of the treatments for the livestock and animals are interesting.
Thank you, Brenda & Jim, for sharing this very important and may I say emotional video with all of us. My husband had to comfort me because I was so worried about bad news for Baron!! We love all your horses, but Baron is my favorite. Your horses are so blessed to have such caring parents such as you both. So happy that the news was good and Baron will be just fine. Oh, and your vet seems like one amazing & knowledgeable lady as well! Have a good weekend coming up!! 💕
I’ve had two horses with a sarcoid in the ear. The neighbor has cattle. One was removed surgically and has not recurred, the other is being treated chemically.
Thank you Jim and Brenda for this video. Would watch a 2 hour video on Baron or any of your horses. Just love them. Poor Baron. So glad all went well for him. Pretty scary when you have things going on with your animals. Hope he heals up quickly. ❤
I'm the same way, could watch Jim's horses for hours and hours! I absolutely love them!!! Though there has always been something special about Baron from day one. For one thing, he's so doggone gorgeous! But he's also so intelligent and eager to please!!!!
What a relief for Baron to have this procedure work for him. So fortunate for him to receive all this excellent care from Jim and the vet. A happy ending!
I don't know what is being said by the vet , but she is very confident about Barin coming through from what I can see in her mannerism! . Praise God for his recovery in health and may he live to a very old age .
Having worked in the medical field for many years, this was very interesting. Baron was such a good boy. I greatly appreciate the attitude and professionalism of the vet and tech. Sounds like a little healing time and Baron will be back to his normal self. And, KUDOS to Baron for peeing for the vet! So happy for all of you.
it's not a bad practice, it might be kind of atypical though. Duke and Earl didn't need gauze. As someone mentioned, maybe because Baron has bred mares as well as had his sperm frozen, the vessels down there were probably thicker with a rich blood supply. I expected the bleeding problems, tbh.

Aren't vets and the vet techs the very best? Thank you for taking such good care of Baron. Lots of love to Baron, what a good boy. My dad always had horses and funny thing is he always talked baby talk to them. Yep, and the horses responded like they were eating up the attention.
Very glad that it's no worse than that, but troubling that the full brothers have both had it. Jim and Brenda. You are so observant of your horses'. Great video. We are all looking forward to an update on Baron's recovery. I'm very impressed with your vet and glad you asked questions, Jim. It helps us to learn also.♥
Sweet, sweet Baron, I'm so sad this happened. Bless his heart, it must have affected how much urine output he did too. After removing the tumor/growth, he peed gallons! That must have been immediate relief to fully empty his bladder. I'm surprised the vet didn't give him a shot of antibiotics just to ward off infection at incision site as well as to help if he by chance has a UTI from not emptying his bladder well. Baron is such a beautiful and powerful horse, and it just broke my heart finding out his problem. I'll be anxious for Monday's video to get a progress report on our sweet boy, Baron!!!
I'm Happy for the good news concerning Baron. He is a beauty. You are living the life I have dreamed about...ie working with horses. Yeah I like that vet. She's pretty cool. Good to know about the sarcoids from cow warts! And I'm glad Baron dropped and peed right there in the vet's office, confirmed the problem is solved. He didn't seem to get super sedated, so he was a good boy as she cut it off. I loved the explanation and dissection!
From what I observed in the complete video the issue was corrected , Jim and Brenda will monitor the situation for a few days and keep the scrotum area clean to prevent infection. It would be great nurse Brenda to take Baron's temperature over the nex day or so. When I saw Baron pee that huge volume .I knew the problem was resolved.

very informative video Jim. Thanks for sharing the process. I found it very interesting. Nice you have vets close by. Hope Baron recovers quickly. looks like he was bleeding pretty good. great he was able to pee.....
I just caught this video about Barron. I’m so glad that it was something other than “cancer” per se. When I saw your title of this video, I had to watch it because I know that you love your horses. Cancer is such a scary word! I hope that Barron continues his full recovery. Thanks for sharing this video.
It’s funny but a few weeks ago I think I mention it during some work he was doing and his gait was noticeably different his back legs were stepping out of sync like he was feeling something unpleasant.as a sidebar my brother had a knee replacement and after a week or so it was highly inflamed and upon inspection by the doctors it was determined that a sponge was left inside causing serious infection.
The vet was great by explaining all yhis while doing the procedure .please tell her thankyou . Very important and educational for horse owners . You where so pacient and calm so was Baron .realy nice to see . Your horses shine in the barn light they look so healthy .
Yes. Lt knee last year. Got something in it. Wet jeans, crab pots on the deck on the boat, knee infected with MRSA,. Feb 8 my knee implant cut out, disk installed, antibiotics by PICC for 6 weeks. After the infection is cured a new implant will be installed. May 9th timeframe I hope.
The very best part of this interesting video is once the vet removed that mass, he was able to urinate a healthy stream! I got excited for him! I guess because i know it must have really hurt to pee for him to release a much as he did as soon as the mass was gone! Great job Doc!! That had to have given him some much needed pain relief as well cause the bladder and kidneys not being able to flush themselves out would start to hurt. 🎉🎉🎉🎉Doc is the best! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Jim and Brenda. Was sorry to hear about Baron and the sarcoid but good that you caught it in time. As I have mentioned to you before, I have a Belgian Draft cross, Bruno, here in the U.K. In 2022 when he was 8 years old and I had owned him for just 2.5 years, we realised he had developed around 11 tiny sarcoids on his bits and his ‘armpits’. Vet advice was to deal with them as soon as possible, so we had them lasered at a nearby vet hospital. It was a lot of work and his recovery was not helped by the fact that he had colic which required surgery just 6 weeks later - this could have been related to the stress of recovering from the laser. Here in the U.K. we are also told that sarcoids can come from bites from flies that have been in cattle I was advised that although it’s difficult to know how to take preventative measures for horses that are susceptible to sarcoids, there is value in boosting the immune system to help the horse deal with any fly bite so I am feeding a supplement for that (Radiance Gold) . Also, Bruno has antiseptic fly repellent all over his bits all through the summer (it’s bright yellow here sadly!). If you would like to know any more about Bruno’s experience let me know. Fingers crossed for Baron. X
Really good video, your vet did a terrific job of explaining the entire process she was doing, including the dissection. I’m glad she is so willing, along with her tech, to let you record the appt. I’m glad that Baron is healed. I found the vet commenting that he could have developed scar tissue that could have been what caused the urinary issue. That you observed he was having a problem that ended up leading to tumor, was great observation. Thank you for sharing the entire experience.
Jim I love how your concern Is always your horses. No matter what time of the day or night or snow. But the best part is as soon as he felt he could pee like a water wiggles. and the sounds like hey thank you Jim now lets go home. love the way you kept him calm another notch In his I am cool award
I was ready to unscript while watching the beginning of the video. I love Baron! In my opinion, he is a significant star on your channel. 🌟 Glad to learn he will be fine ! 😊

Never heard of gauze beeing used in that manner , when castrating a horse. have had hundreds of horses castrated.
Same but maybe because he was used for breeding, older therefor more vascular?

I appreciate this video. Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking Baron feels much better now he can pee . Good call having him looked at .
Barons coat is amazing for it being March. So sleek and shiny ✨ Looks like a summer coat 👍
Yes him's is a very handsome guy. Poor baby! Flood gates opened lol. I'm glad he got fixed. Speedy healing Mr Baron.
Fascinating! Feel better soon Baron!
Happy Birthday Barry from down under
This was very interesting. The sounds he was making when peeing was such a relief to him. Hope all goes well. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍😊
