If only every domestic horse on the planet had such good lives. Good nutrition, solid vet care, a purposeful job, grooming, guidance and love. Heck, the humans could all use that too. Have a great week Jim and Co.
@@christinehoffmann8512 I'm glad you are looking out for the comfort of the horses. But Lady is perfectly fine. Shes taken a step back and is not up by her feed box. You're on the wrong page of you're looking for mistreated horses. These horses have a great life. Stepping back in to the alley is not mistreatment by any means. Move on to gaited and dressage horses that wear gear that hurts, feel spurs and flex necks that is not natural and have rules that wont die. Or horses and livestock that are very mistreated on their way to slaughter.
Ken trots, Baron canters Skip sprints. Oh, the joy of having energy! Have a great week, Easter is coming when we remember The Cross and what Jesus did for us.
Wow... the steam coming off Ken after the run...! What a great canter... Thanks Jim! And Baron just wanted to eat! If Kenny needs to let off gas, I'd sooner that... than have him encounter the difficulties of colic... I still remember Buck... (still miss him) because horses can have trouble passing gas... The solution of the water drainage via the tiling is a good one... just a matter of time... like every thing else when you live on the land... Blessings to all! ❤
I thought the steam was breath. I don't think they even sweated, way too cold, was a short workout. Had they sweated, Jim would have put their pretty red ruggies on, can't leave a sweaty horse standing about un-rugged, they get pneumonia real easy.
Have always enjoyed Barry Hooks canter work. Nice to see Baron and Ken enjoying a canter and then stopping well. Best wishes on the needed lumber mill repairs.
Skippy reminds me of barn swallows flying in front of the tractor when out in the fields doing farm work and they catching any bugs that we disturbed by our activity. Love the videos! Prayed for Skippy that no cars would harm him when running on the paved road.
Jim, I always enjoy watching your videos.>>>It was nice to see the horses gallop, and Skippy seemed to enjoy running out in the field and beside the horses. >>>Skippy is much better behaved & I think he will be a great dog on the farm.>>>Wishing You & Brenda a most pleasant day.
Great to Baron is doing as I zoomed my phone to see what was causing his issue. Jim you are blessed with a great horse vet. It was interesting that something like that ball of what ever it was could cause Baron not to pee...but once it was removed there he goes peeing like a race horse and saying...ahhhhhhh I feel better now!!! Thanks Dad for bringing me to the vet. Ken and Baron had a good trout as did Skippy with a good run. Skippy will sleep good tonight. Can hardly wait to see Bill and Ken working together at Paul Smith College. Been a long time. God bless you Jim and Brenda. Hope you are feeling better Brenda 🙏
When you were harnessing Ken, both Bill and Lady were peering over watching carefully to see if either one of them was next. Nope, Baron. Back to eating hay, gestating, and daydreaming.
There just is not another draft horse channel that holds my attention like this one. Why? Because Jim and Brenda are living it, not playing at it. The real deal.
A average work day for Jim and what ever team he is using is great entertainment and educational for us city folks. Always enjoyable what ever is going on. 👍
Really enjoyed seeing you go about your work on the farm today ,Jim. I especially loved to see the horses having a gallop and then the other ones in the field joining in the fun. Even Skippy showed off his running skills.
Isn't that the most amazing thing to see horses do!!!! For everyone that's only been a subscriber a short time, you really should watch that video if you want to see what real horse power is capable of!!!!!!💪
I enjoyed this video of you working the horses, something you do daily that we don't see too often! Baron and Ken are really feeling their oats this morning!
We also are getting a bit of snow ❄️and cold snap💨 up here in central Alberta🇨🇦The geese have been back for over a week now. The slews have frozen over again, they are standing on the ice! Thought Skippy was going to get trounced on a couple of times! Glad it wasn’t serious operation for Baron and good he is healing. Interesting and educational what the vets said! Cool video watching the horses gallop👌🏼👍🏼🇨🇦
Sorry about your sawmill Jim. I know how important it is to you. It was so much fun watching Baron and Ken coming home. It's the first time I ever saw Ken break into a canter, I believe. Lady looked a little grumpy this morning. She went into her stall with her ears pinned back. Just telling everyone to leave her alone! Glad for Baron to get some energy released.
Lady's probably far enough in her pregnancy to be feeling slow and "don't bother me"!!😘 She's probably only got about 6 weeks to go before foal is born. Can hardly wait for baby!!!!!!
Sure hope your sawmill can be fixed easily. So glad Baron is doing well from his surgery! He and Kenny really did have fun "filling their oats"!!! Love seeing the horses cantering! Even Duke, Earl, and Bree got in on the action!😘 And Skippy had a ball, so he will be all tuckered out soon! Hey Brenda, hope you are feeling better! Could tell from your cough the other day you're still not completely better of when you all were sick back in the winter. Rest and not pushing yourself is the best thing to do! That stuff is hard to get over.😘🙏
Thank You Jim and Brenda, on sharing your work around the farm today. Good luck with the Saw Mill Engine hopefully it's just a seal or a gasket replacement and not a catastrophic engine failure. . Baron and Ken are perfect examples of extremely fit and well fed horses and it show us viewers today. Jim right it takes an top flight teamster to let a team out into a canter and also that they know that Whoa means Whoa.
Thankyou for sharing the horses look so well.l was thinking to myself while Jim was cleaning the stables and looking at Baron,s name plack it been just over a year since we lost our darling Buck ❤ l often think of him and still miss him so much ❤ All the very best dear friends 😊
Skippy escort service had a great time showing the team the way thru the field. Very happy to see Baron is showing no ill effects from his surgery. I think you are right keeping him out of the woods until he is healed up completely. Good luck with the engine on the sawmill. Hoping it's a minor fix for you. Please stay safe and God bless you and your family, William too.
As I watched you clean barn, it occurred to me that at one time farmers and gardeners would build hotbeds for starting seedlings using horse manure for heat. Then i hear you comment on the chilly greenhouse
Holy crap, if only every one had a barn that was so a totally efficent. wow Even wide enuf to run th bckhoe thru ❤ Baron is smaller than Ken, therefore he must Canter to keep up!. KEN needs another Freshian, somebody his own size! Thanx for th farm visit.
I see your video with drain lines near the forest. It is not unusual for the groundwater hights on hills to be so high that it reaches above ground. Artesian pressure, i.e. the groundwater pressure is so high in parts of the year, it pushes water up above the ground. Your idea of making a sand/leaf trap is a good idea, but will probably be difficult to maintain. Open drainage ditches near trees are easy to clean, in contrast to drainage pipes and sand/leaf catch wells. You probably already know this, but an open trench along the forest edge, between the grass field and the trees, could be a solution, where leaves, soil compaction and roots can be cleaned. The drainage pipes can be connected to it, possibly with a connection with a catch grid for the foliage. The roots from the trees go for water and moisture and never stop clogging drainage pipes.
Hi Jim, nice to see Baron and Ken galloping along. I recently heard a old farmers wise words and your video today reminded me of it. It goes like this….A Farting horse will never tire, A farting man is the man to hire. Have you heard of this? Sounds right to me at least the first part.😊
When I was a teenager I along with some friends rode our horses on summer weekends. One friends rode a Standard bred black horse that was alwat gassy, he was appropriately named " Thunder".
Great video! When Ken was getting a drink, I bet he was thinking I can't believe you made me canter! Lol! How long has it been since you've been pulled that fast?
Hi Jim....no Brenda today? I see Skippy is with you, though. Fun watching Baron & Ken get "their Beans out" today. Boy, winter just doesn't want to let go yet!....Thanks for this little adventure today & stay warm. God bless........😊
we love Kenny too Lor,,that horse? would be one I'd have with 0 ur five kids around. and yes,he showed he's still got a lot of grit and strength.. would love to help brush them wouldn't you...😊
I'd love living close and volunteering to help groom and even clean stalls free of charge!!!! That's how much I love Jim and Brenda's horses!!!!❤ They are all so special!!
Old remedy for hoof thrush is 10 par tr s hay or shavings to 1 part ashes to prevent thrush. I knew an old stable hand that used this method recommended by a curcuit preacherfor over 50 years.
Just wondering if it seems Ken gets lonely in the back, not able to socialize with the other horses? Does it stay warm enough for Ken? Thoughts on taking part of the wall down above his manger between him and Lady so he can see the others?
Jim Thankyou for showing your efficent manure clean up with skidsteer . The large and comfortable tie stalls and the great watering system for your heavy horses .😊😊😊
See here when we tiled, we always used. A stan pipe is what was call to keep Debris out of the Tiles and I would have put an 8 inch in the ground so you can run feeders if you need more lines
I always wondered how a field was made. ALOTTA HARD WORK. I'm so glad you're honoring these fields by using them as they shld be. Your barn set up shows yrs of experience. Love it now. Great getting to canter in Hames 😮😅 harnessing made easy. Yes this I'm gr8 now.😊 love ya all.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So glad Baron is doing well. I kinda felt bad for Kenny it is not his nature to move that fast and being a senior but good to see he still can.I was wondering how he likes being in the box stale so much? How is Lady doing?
Great channel you guys. Being an old construction guy, thought I would pass along a trick for underground pipe: place a small copper wire along with the plastic pipe so you can scan and find in later. Thanks again..
What is the purpose of your outdoor furnace since you have a burn pile? 🤔 Could that help heat the greenhouse? 🤷♀️ Baron has such a perky step!! 😂 I'm thankful he's ok! ❤ Skippy is just happy to be with you!!! That's a great idea with the large tile pipe Jim. However, if it was me, being that the large pipe will be standing upright I would cap off the top of it. Just to keep critters out and to prevent debris from blowing into it.

11:15 Ladys box is way too short. She has to stand with at least one of her hind legs on the concrete edge.

When hitched to Ken you will do what Jim tells Ken to do. That is one big solid obediant horse❤😂.
Excellent for training colts. Good semi retirement for him!
Wish I could borrow a Ken.. I have two not-quite-sorted pony mares that I don't trust on the public road (suburbia, it's quite busy)
Baron looks pretty big until he is next to Ken. Ken is a definite gem, besides farting on you😅😅
You wouldn't want to hitch Ken the large Percheron Gelding with pony mares
I miss Buck, Ken’s former Percheron partner, who died a couple of years ago. They made a stunning team.
Skippy is living life on the edge.
Ken trots, Baron canters Skip sprints. Oh, the joy of having energy! Have a great week, Easter is coming when we remember The Cross and what Jesus did for us.
Amen
Baron sure was full of energy. What a relief for him not being able to urinate good , then being able to. 😃Thank you Jim & Brenda.
Looks like Baron is feeling much better. Glad he's recovering well.
That was a good run I sure injoy the horses I try not to MLS any of your movies
"You have to parden my gassy horses today," too cute.
Wow... the steam coming off Ken after the run...!
What a great canter...
Thanks Jim!

Very much enjoyed this showing of farm routine. Love the horses and barn cats. Glad Baron is doing well.
It sounds like BARRON has a bit of gas. HAVE A GOOD DAY JIM.
They are all lovely horses but Ken is such a gentle giant and still my favorite.
That dog has a lot of energy and he is fast, but he is a little lucky at times.
Kenny saying hello the only way Kenny says hello! 💨 💨 💨
At least the cold weather should keep the flies away from Baron until he heals up.
Jim, put a heat lamp in the green house. You can get a temp sensor switch for not too much so it comes on only when it gets below a certain temp.
I love how you have kept Barrons mane. It really shows off his neck.
Have always enjoyed Barry Hooks canter work. Nice to see Baron and Ken enjoying a canter and then stopping well. Best wishes on the needed lumber mill repairs.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ken canter before, I’m thinking that trip to the vet has barron feeling pretty darn good. that’s great news.
Skippy reminds me of barn swallows flying in front of the tractor when out in the fields doing farm work and they catching any bugs that we disturbed by our activity. Love the videos! Prayed for Skippy that no cars would harm him when running on the paved road.
Loved watching Ken and Baron running and Skippy running with them. Then seeing the colts come running in to meet Ken and Baron. What fun.
Haven’t watched it yet but praying Baron is healing. Sounds like he’s doing well if he wants to run. I’ll watch it tonight with Ken.
Canter, very controlled. Gallop is flat out. Nice for sure, Baron be a rocking horse to ride, smooth.

Look at Baron and Ken at 35. They are looking great. Jim you have some good horses, even if they are a little gassy. Ha
You’d think Ken would be more energetic with all his jet propulsion he generates!😂
When you were harnessing Ken, both Bill and Lady were peering over watching carefully to see if either one of them was next. Nope, Baron. Back to eating hay, gestating, and daydreaming.
Oh gracious! Skippy scared me running in and out of the horses! Whoo!!
I watch a few horse guys, but I think I'm hooked on that Baron! He's just full of it!

Hello Jim, laugh every time I hear the horses. I was brought around horses
I enjoyed the jog home ken was looking good for an old boy. And I could not stop laughing watching skip.
Barron is getting more handsome everyday. 🫎🦞🦌👍🏻🌲
Hi there thank you Jim and Baron and Ken and skippy for a great ride with you all.❤😊tc

Baron hits that pavement and it’s like time to strut my stuff lol
Love when you canter them! It’s my favorite view!
there is something about this channel that calms me down. Thank you Jim for sharing.
My 6 year old son was watching with me when Ken let out that big long fart. He thought that was great.
No wonder Kenny felt like galloping after that one!🤣😄😂
Ken’s like I wanna be up there with everybody else
Right at the beginning of the video I was overwhelmed with the memory of just how wonderful a barn full of horses smells. Thanks for this.
And Baron is off like he is shot from a cannon, while Ken has to pass some gas. Each to their own!

Yeah right Jim, blame it on the horse toot toot
We used saw dust in our dairy barn absorbs better than straw and kills the ammonia smells
Jim Thankyou for showing your efficent manure clean up with skidsteer . The large and comfortable tie stalls and the great watering system for your heavy horses .😊😊😊
First time I’ve ever seen Ken canter!
you need a 'Heckingbottom' to fix that drain where it comes out of the bush
Enjoy the video Jim
Thanks for an interesting ride! Nice to see the horses enjoying themselves and being cared for.
It's 3/25 here and the wind is blowing very hard here today..the temp is 70. Enjoyed your varied video today. lov from South Alabama.
See here when we tiled, we always used. A stan pipe is what was call to keep Debris out of the Tiles and I would have put an 8 inch in the ground so you can run feeders if you need more lines

PG here A Variety show. I prayed for you to have an easy fix for the saw mill.
awesome video love that Ken, he always tells us hello and A I know he does feel Beter for it
great video,, can't believe all the hard work and things you farmers have to do,and seem to never tire. lovely time, thanks.
24:39 had me in tears. 😂

Great video Brenda and Jim like always 😊.
What is the purpose of your outdoor furnace since you have a burn pile? 🤔 Could that help heat the greenhouse? 🤷♀️ Baron has such a perky step!! 😂 I'm thankful he's ok! ❤ Skippy is just happy to be with you!!! Baron has a canter-trot!!! Oh now they're both going!! So beautiful!!! They are beautiful!!! Great video!! 💕
The outdoor wood burner heats their house and the dry kiln in the barn. I'm sure that greenhouse could be added to the system.
Thanks!! I never thought of that!! 🤦♀️ Never heard of that either! Interesting! 🙃
My brother has one that heats his house too.
Baron is a nice-looking horse.
Ken running like that 😄😄
Very enjoyable podcast Jim, and great to see the horses enjoying themselves as well.
🤔 for some reason I noticed groomed shorter tails knowing your preference and reason I like it too, love all recirculating at the farm, interesting about horses exercising and future tile work 👍
I always wondered what you did with that trailer; other than tying horses to it. Now i know !
Barron looks so tiny next to Ken. lol Enjoyed the video thank you for sharing it ❤
Just went through your videos to see if I could find when I syarted watching you. Was four years ago, with an explanation of the D-rings!
Hope you show the fix install on drain tile. It looks like good idea
That's a great idea with the large tile pipe Jim.
However, if it was me, being that the large pipe will be standing upright I would cap off the top of it. Just to keep critters out and to prevent debris from blowing into it.
