I remember that we used to search for faces in trees in my childhood. Unfortunately I don‘t live in an area with acient trees. This is so much fun that you share your „expeditions“ with us. The new finding reminds me a little bit of „Casper“ 😊.
Oh Meg, I love to see you in these videos. My girl is with me most often when I am out in the woods with my camera too. Simon, lovely way to think as you look for compositions that are complicated. They all come out on their own times done’t they… The last image of the little waterfalls, stream and Oaks, is quite complicated for sure. The thing about it, is each part of the complicated scene is appears as it’s only little story that makes up an epic tale. I really loved that one. The face in the tree (no names, I suck at naming images so I number them) is another great way of looking at nature and I can’t wait for you to find more ways to capture that face in the oaks. Cheers, Rob
How funny that you said you are having a hard time coming up with a title...I was just telling my wife some of the epic names you come up with. Me? I come up with Mt St Helens and Moon, LOL. I've tried and I just do not have that creative gene. On a serious note: your talent for woodland photography is second to none! Your ability to find a composition in what seems like endless chaos is truly inspirational. Keep up the great work.
I enjoyed seeing your beautiful, athletic, obviously well-trained dog jump over the fence in the very beginning of this video. So beautiful! I haven't seen the rest yet; but the title is very intriguing. I'll continue watching now. 😄 Wow! The first tree you showed, after the fish tree, was quite remarkable. If I hadn't found faces as realistic as that one in my own photos, I might be tempted to accuse you of Photoshopping it; but I do believe you caught what we see in this video. You've just inspired me to create my own personal series for my favorite tree. It's an amazing, old, sprawling tree with branches that reach the ground.
I really enjoy watching your videos in the woods. Your also very well spoken which makes it all the better plus watching your dog dashing about is icing on the cake.
Very nice. Simon. Manoak would be a good name. It’s funny that we were discussing faces in trees the other night. About two years ago I pulled into a car park in the local town and as I pulled into the bay I saw a tree that had started to grow around the railings of the car park. Two small branched had been cut away and it was the perfect face! Pity I did not get my camera back for another month from being repaired and I forgot all about until I saw your video. I must go and see how it’s doing!! Great video thank you Simon, loved Meg having a ball in the woods. Stay safe, Graham
Thank you for sharing your woodland explorations Simon - it allows me to relax a spell and live vicariously through you :) . My dream is to hopefully retire in several years, move to the mountains, and explore the woods and waterfalls as you do. Your videos help me imagine what that will be like....thank you sir.
I usually learn something new in your videos, but not generally a new word :-) I really liked the last image with the 2 little waterfalls - great textures and depth.
I love how similar your woodlands are to our forests on the west coast of Canada. The same ferns, mossy rocks, and even the foxglove. The exception is, we have tall firs and cedars in place of oaks. I would love to visit there one day to photograph those fantastic oak trees!
Gorgeous video, Simon, so glad to have someone in the UK who’s videos give me the same tranquil relaxing vibes that I get from the work of Ben Horne in the US :0) PS That b-roll/image fade in, fade out around 10:07 was just sublime! 🙌🏻♥️
Well that was a lovely gentle vlog, I always learn so much and feel so relaxed after watching. These moments in the natural world among the woodlands and water are very special, especially when you have your best canine friend Meg along 🌿🌳✨
What's up Simon? You know what? I've heard old folks from Ireland speak about the faces you see in a forest or wilderness as Guardians of The Forest, and it makes perfect sense. Nice video Simon!
We got a Tree Beard in our woods and I always say hello to him. Hoping one day he might say hello back but it hasn't happened yet 🙄 Lovely work mate, enjoyed this very much Amd it's always nice to see Meg playing around 😊
Great Stuff Simon...loving your content. I was taking an image of a Black & White Warbler last year and never even noticed the face in the Oak Tree looking at the bird, until after it was loaded up on the computer for processing. To me it looks like the Cowardly Lion from the movie "Wizzard of Oz".
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... Hey there, Henry. I see faces everywhere. A great place is in stucco/textured ceilings. But as far as trees, you can imagine just how much this plays on childrens' minds as they start to become old enough to walk into the woods themselves. Who needs big, bad wolves to be scared of! 😉The phenomenon is featured in SO many movies and in folklore. Cheers, bro!
Brill video, I always see faces in trees too 😄 so good to see you and hear others in the comments section do too! Lovely chilled video Simon, perfect for a Sunday evening chilling out before the working week begins again, thank you 😊
You found some fantastic examples of tree faces!! 😎 I had no idea the ability to see faces in objects or nature was once seen as a sign of psychosis... oh, that's a horrific thought!😔 I'm really enjoying your photography... I live in a city and love city life, but I do have some chances of getting close to nature at times and have often photographed funny or strange faces in trees. One time I saw a skull shape embedded into the rock of a stairway on a large hill in a Victorian cemetery. I didn't see it when I took the photo, it only revealed itself when I was looking at the images after. Once you've seen it... you can't unsee it!!😅 Thanks so much for all your thoughtfulness in all of your videos Simon, they are really excellent and a great source of inspiration and encouragement. My photography and poetry creativeness has been seriously dented recently. I find your ability to continue with a creative mind and enjoy long walks in the countryside despite your own physical setbacks at times and also other distracting events going on in the world very admirable! 👏
What an extraordinary video, with a very interesting theme. When I observe pareidolie in the photos of the woods, I imagine elves and elemental entities.
Absolutly Stunning photos! I also love how you explain in detail your whole process. The woodlands there are gorgeous and I’m always amazed at your photos. Thank You!
Always love your videos. I live in basically a city therefore limited woods. However we do have many Old Oak trees. Because of your videos I have now photographed many Oak trees always looking for that special image. Thanks for getting me out with my camera. 85 on Thursday.
Great set of images Simon and really like how you deal with the conditions. I tend to obsess over bright spots from the sky showing through the canopy but great to see how you can use it to enhance your images like 'Forest Bathing' which is fantastic - that face is so obvious😬. As for a name for your new tree face - he looks like he's looking out from the calf of the bent leg of the main tree - he doesn't look as noble as an Achilles but other leg parts like Soleus, 'Nemius or Plantaris might work - but to be honest Mr Gummy is probably better :)
Great shots Simon, I always look for faces in trees when I'm out and about but not as lucky finding them. On a lighter note Megs looks all rested up. :)
Have I got some pictures to show you ~ I've got pareidolia :) Thank you Simon. You're one of the best of the best. I hope we can meet up and have a stroll in the woodland someday. Trees Are Life ~ Peace.
Simon - what have you put in your water? I really felt your engagement there in a way that wasn't so obvious before. I love your videos but this one was quite special. It had something about you that wasn't quite there before. Bravo!! Don't get too excited though. Meg is the star :-)
Even in harsch light you made very good images ( did you need more post processing work?)but the image I love the best is the final one of the video with you and MEG absorbed in the woodland !
Love to hear this about faces in trees, now I know I'm not mad.... locally we have Orwell country park in it theirs a tree that is over 500 years old, I can see a face that some of my friends struggle to see. The spirit of the woods ?
hi again simon. well i have to say that face of that tree reminds face of my mother in law...but when i think more about i have to say that tree looks way better than she :P first of all i dont know how can you survive now in the woods with milions of mosqitos...im already waiting for autumn:) Simon im just curious. did you ever try some kind of macro etc? you have 2.8 lens which can produce fantastic blurry magical photos of ferns flowers and all of those small beautifull details...finding and photographing them is really great fun :)
For the first time ever..i went into a woodland the other day and came out with not a single image , am i just getting fussy with what i take ? Havent i just not got " the eye " yet ? or do i totally not like the summer days ? I dont know, but wow how down hearted i was. Not a single image....
Faces in trees are lost spiritual souls, searching for their loved ones. There are millions & millions of them in trees. They have not gone to Heaven. They have not gone to Hell. They are 'stranded' on Earth, wanting loved ones to recognise them. They are not only in Trees. If you look closely they are in lots of other places - on Wallpaper, on Clothing, on Material prints, on Artists paintings. They were not 'Spiritual' living on Earth & they become 'Earthbound' after their passing.

Another chapter in your future book, faces in nature. I love all your work! Good seeing Meg again.
Thank you very much, James :)

Haha, I think there's just too many options for this tree and he deserves a great name :) Many thanks, Craig!
I enjoyed seeing your beautiful, athletic, obviously well-trained dog jump over the fence in the very beginning of this video. So beautiful! I haven't seen the rest yet; but the title is very intriguing. I'll continue watching now. 😄

Thank you very much, Carolyn. I do very little editing to my images - small changes in Lightroom to enhance qualities which already exist :)
I really enjoy watching your videos in the woods. Your also very well spoken which makes it all the better plus watching your dog dashing about is icing on the cake.

My dream is to hopefully retire in several years, move to the mountains, and explore the woods and waterfalls as you do. Your videos help me imagine what that will be like....thank you sir.
Many thanks for your kind feedback, Gary. Glad you enjoyed watching :)
Loved how you gradually faded in the music as you were just starting to finish talking about the first tree face
I usually learn something new in your videos, but not generally a new word :-) I really liked the last image with the 2 little waterfalls - great textures and depth.
Thank you very much, Larry :-)
So many beautiful and peaceful photos in this video!
I think Ollie or Orson could be a couple to consider. Keep the great work, just loveing this old forest.
Magnificent that last photograph !! That is for me a real woodland photograph.
Thank you very much, as always, Ruud :-)

Well that was a lovely gentle vlog, I always learn so much and feel so relaxed after watching. These moments in the natural world among the woodlands and water are very special, especially when you have your best canine friend Meg along 🌿🌳✨
Many thanks, Diane. I'm pleased you find them relaxing. I can't help but try to add that vibe to the videos :)
Incredible picture! 06:00. Thank you Simon.
An episode (or series) on trees in art might be interesting. No pressure 😉 lovely stuff
I really love the depth of your appreciation of nature, Simon. It helps me appreciate my own landscape photography more.
Really enjoyed this mix of how it looks in the woods now with how it looked for the images. And the woods are so beautiful these days!
What's up Simon? You know what? I've heard old folks from Ireland speak about the faces you see in a forest or wilderness as Guardians of The Forest, and it makes perfect sense. Nice video Simon!
Videos like this should be gate keeped
Lovely video Simon , especially like the Beck image
I always enjoy your videos. I like that you are able to bring your dog along with you. Great fun for her that she gets to spend time with you.
Many thanks, Jeff! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Your photos of woodlands calm the soul. I needed that today. So perfectly captured.
That's much appreciated, thank you!
We got a Tree Beard in our woods and I always say hello to him. Hoping one day he might say hello back but it hasn't happened yet 🙄 Lovely work mate, enjoyed this very much Amd it's always nice to see Meg playing around 😊
Much appreciated as always, Paul :) If only they would talk back :)

Thanks for the comment, Christopher! But I'd prefer it if you didn't call me Henry ;-)
After your last video where you introduced us to Lucy, your current video seems much more alive and enjoyable. Good luck my friend. 🙂
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
Always love your videos, Simon. 👍🦘🇦🇺
Glad to hear that I´m no the only one who calls Ents to the trees. Greetings!!!!!!
Amazing series mate, really take inspiration from your content! Lovely looking for faces in the woods
Love seeing all of your photos and videos 👍
9.27. Top right intersecting third lines. Another face in the trunk just below where it bends right.
Brill video, I always see faces in trees too 😄 so good to see you and hear others in the comments section do too! Lovely chilled video Simon, perfect for a Sunday evening chilling out before the working week begins again, thank you 😊
Thank you very much, David! Glad you enjoyed it and the relaxed vibe :-)

Thank you, Antonio! Yes, it's fun to think of enchanted worlds :-)
How do you not get lost and find your way back home…? 😁 love your dog, what a delight 😁
Most woodlands I photograph are quite small. It would be difficult to get lost :-D
Absolutly Stunning photos! I also love how you explain in detail your whole process. The woodlands there are gorgeous and I’m always amazed at your photos. Thank You!
Many thanks for your kind comment, Candi :)
lovely video Simon as always. I find the harsh light such a huge challenge when its the only option I get.
I love finding trees like these!
Thank you for the well produced and quite lovely videos. Perhaps a good name for your Entish friend could be Acornbark.
Brilliant!!! Loved that moment when your video faded into your processed image.
Thank you very much, Vivian!
after a busy week this was a real pleasure to sit down, relax and watch. Look forward to seeing more of your new (yet to be named) tree Simon
Always love your videos. I live in basically a city therefore limited woods. However we do have many Old Oak trees. Because of your videos I have now photographed many Oak trees always looking for that special image. Thanks for getting me out with my camera. 85 on Thursday.

What a great vid Simon. Really enjoyable, great explanatons for the comps and superb images!
As always, the amount of value I found in this video is through the roof! Thanks a ton, Simon, for inspiring us. Love, Juraj
Thank you so much, Juraj :-)
Lovely, lovely stuff
This was so enjoyable!
Great image with the waterfall, shot at 33mm, f11. Really atmospheric.
Your videos are themselves works of art
Much appreciated, thank you!
Great shots Simon, I always look for faces in trees when I'm out and about but not as lucky finding them. On a lighter note Megs looks all rested up. :)
Old Man seems like a good name for him
Great Simon Baxter Video, great share
Very nice and interesting video with beautiful photos. Brazilian congratulations.
Have I got some pictures to show you ~ I've got pareidolia :)
Thank you Simon. You're one of the best of the best. I hope we can meet up and have a stroll in the woodland someday.
Trees Are Life ~ Peace.
Thank you very much :-)
And the StoneWoman next to you with green hair .. small stunning eyes and open mouth is listening as we do to you ;)
Simon - what have you put in your water? I really felt your engagement there in a way that wasn't so obvious before. I love your videos but this one was quite special. It had something about you that wasn't quite there before. Bravo!! Don't get too excited though. Meg is the star :-)
Inspiring to search for faces in the trees; I like the images
Even in harsch light you made very good images ( did you need more post processing work?)but the image I love the best is the final one of the video with you and MEG absorbed in the woodland !
The phenomenon is simulacra, something that resembles something else, variously seen in rock outcrops, cliffs, clouds, etc.
Love to hear this about faces in trees, now I know I'm not mad.... locally we have Orwell country park in it theirs a tree that is over 500 years old, I can see a face that some of my friends struggle to see. The spirit of the woods ?

Haha! I've always favoured the woodland view and portraying the experience as it's been better for my dodgy back. I can see the fun in it though :)
Tree name suggestion Gamalion.
Have you thought of fill flash! I live in Florida where the light is often harsh so I go to f11 and use fill flash.
Thanks for the suggestion. That could work but I prefer to wait until there's some naturally soft light :)
I did not know there was a name for seeing faces in objects / trees. I usually see them too, and also in mountains sometimes.
The "Gummy" faced tree photo makes me think of the caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland. Great images.
Haha, yes I can see that :-)
Magic stuff!
Just brilliant 🙏🏻🙏🏻 are you still happy with the a7riii? I’m looking into it over the a7riv….Many thanks.
Thank you, Martin! Yes, still very happy with the camera - it has served me well ever since it was first launched. No plans to upgrade just yet :)
@@SimonBaxterPhotography thank you.
Funny you say we see these things when in a bad place I see faces all the time maybe I should start to collect images of them lol
Statler for the gummy faced oak - from the muppets :)
For the first time ever..i went into a woodland the other day and came out with not a single image , am i just getting fussy with what i take ? Havent i just not got " the eye " yet ? or do i totally not like the summer days ? I dont know, but wow how down hearted i was. Not a single image....
How about Oakie?
Do you have bears in the forests?
In Romania we have and for me it's a major issue. I want to go alone in the forests but...
Steve
Speaking of faces, have you ever seen any pixies when wandering the woodlands??
Call the tree face "Alfred."
Grundle or Groak?
Mr Gumby!
I would call him Gimli 😄
Haha! Like it :)
Trees name should be Barxter.
I would call him Flubber
Weirwood trees???

Mist is the secret ingredient.
It's certainly a great ingredient amongst many other things, but not the secret ;-)
Why do these trees have faces this is weird because they have faces don't woorru about it just like and subscribe and hit that like button
Mr Pogle
Carl forever.
haha!
