Portland is 145 sq miles. 4 blocks of protesters downtown is scarcely a blip on the radar. The homeless problem is no worse that other cities of similar size, especially on the temperate West Coast. And if you come in the rainy season, bring a parka, not an umbrella. An umbrella marks you as an outsider. :-)

The Rocky Butte aviation beacon is not retired! Still used today for aviators like myself who use it as a marker for visual arrivals into Portland airport. Great video!

Hey, if you are in Portland during the weekend also check out the Portland Saturday Market. It's on the waterfront and is a huge market that's been around for something like 45 years. It is full of local artists in the area and is the perfect place to get gifts or souvenirs. There is also usually pretty good food! Also, skip Voodoo and go to Pips doughnuts (or do both) and don't forget to get the chai at pips. Also, check out Northwest 23rd. Its a great street to walk down and has great food.

You need to add Sugar Street Bakery and Bistro on this list. Honestly the cupcakes are ridiculously Delicious and they are named after Portland streets.... Naito, Pettygrove, Alberta, etc. This place is so popular but still a lot of non locals have no idea about it!
I know when I worked I just wanted to come home sleep and have a clear path to get my breakfast and get my car warmed up. If my family stayed out of the way it helped. They couldnt throw me off, I sometimes woke up extra early. This goes for school also, and highschool and middle school. When I did go to church when I visit family. Any commitment

But with more than 100 straight days of riots, decriminalized drugs, 800% increase in shootings since last year, and revolving door justice system, I don’t see what Portland has to offer a contributing member of society that can’t be found somewhere else cheaper, cleaner, and safer.

Idk about most motels, but a majority are pretty affordable. A lot of areas are pretty cheap unless you want to go all out. Portlands a really nice city, you should visit it sometimes!

I moved from Seattle to OKC, while OKC has zero naturally beauty except insane sunrises and sunsets there are two big lakes within the city and a river and a ton of good food. OKC reminds me of Portland as far as live music, breweries, NBA, and tons of great local food.
