- Time for our cruise has finally arrived! We travel to Galveston to board the Carnival Freedom on March 26, 2016 for a seven day cruise to Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman and Montego Bay, Jamaica. We grab some yummy food and then watch the ship sail out of port and into the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Our family of nine sits down to our first dinner on board - now if you have never been on a cruise, let me tell you, dinner is a big deal! Then we grab great seats for the opening show in the theater. It was a GREAT first day!!!

Thank yall for posting all your videos! They are awesome! I'm going on my 11th cruise in May 2019 and it's so nice to be able to see what other people do on the ship and see the places they go in port. We're definitely going to try that resort in Jamaica next time we go there!

From Texas! I live close to Galveston. We were on the freedom end of January 2016 and we leave on the Breeze November this year!
Oh you are lucky to line close to Galveston! We are about 4 1/2 hours away and 3 1/2 hours from the NOLA port. We are cruising out of NOLA this year (actually in 11 days) on the Dream and will be on the Breeze next year. Isn't cruising fabulous???

The Carnival rides were Pleasure Pier!!!!! This brings back memories of when I lived in Houston and went to Galveston!! I am moving back, but I went aboard the Freedom last month. I had to fly to Houston to go on the Vista which broke so we booked the Freedom last minute.
I’m glad to know about all the updates. I have booked for the re-positioning of this ship from Seattle to Fort Lauderdale September 2021.
We were on the liberty on these dates. That is hilarious!
we live in New Mexico 12 hour drive to Galveston. we go on the freedom to key west Freeport Bahamas and then Nassau Bahamas on sept. 29th 2019 can't wait paid off the balcony cruise and some excursions just waiting to go

Our first cruise was on the Triumph three years ago, which sparked our love of cruising! The Freedom is an awesome ship, you will have a great time!!!!

Yep, we were in your neck of the woods. I have fun with the door decorations, on our first cruise the boys had trouble finding our room, so this really helps. The shows on this cruise were the best I have seen! Especially the 80's show, did you see that one?

We had to cancel our 2020 cruise . Now we are scheduled to go on the Freedom in Jan 2022. Bringing our granddaughters and 2 great grandkids with us. Their first cruise. We were on the Freedom in 2010 on an 8 night and it was definitely our favorite cruise. So happy we are going to be able to sail her again on another 8 night. Keeping our fingers crossed. Because if all the rules and regulations are still in effect, we will not go. I cannot imagine cruising and having to wear masks and social distance. How ridiculous. But, time will tell and hope we have the vaccine by then.

We are going on a cruise October 6th 2018 and it's going to be on the freedom so your videos are very helpful of what to expect. My question is next year we're planning on taking all of our children, which we have four. Our oldest is 9 the twins are 8 and then our baby girl is 2. How old were your children when you first took them on a cruise and then how is it? I'm nervous taking all the kids.
Hi Rachel! You will love the Freedom! The twins were nine on our first cruise and they loved it. There are lots of activities for the kids and the kids clubs are great. Your two year old will be able to go there as well. It’s actually a very easy way to vacation because everything is at your fingertips! You will love it!
Question : First time cruiser here with my husband also first time cruiser. We set sail april first. We've already booked our parking in galviston TX. What's with the ferry? Do you have to take the ferry to the ship?
There are two ways in and our of Galveston, which is an island. One is the ferry and the other is a road/bridge that goes to the mainland but it is on the other side of the island. We normally take the ferry going and the bridge heading home. If you don't want to take the ferry, your GPS should prompt you that there is a ferry in your path and will give you the option to take another route. Enjoy your first cruise!
Not sure if you ever got the answer to your question re the pilot boat gun. They are the coast guard, and it is for protection, etc. (simple answer)

The sound from your videos are fantastic. What type of video and audio source are you using?. I will be going on my cruise next month to Catalina Island and Ensenada Mexico. So ready to go.
On this cruise, we were just using a basic Sony Handycam. It did a very good job with both audio and video.
So entertaining! I am going on my sixth cruise this summer, so I am an expert! xD I am going to Alaska this time on Carnival Legend. How old are your kids? + the melting cake.... SO HEAVEN ON A SPOON! Have it EVERY TIME almost EVERY NIGHT!
Yes at 6 cruises you are an expert! Alaska is on our to-do list but we will probably wait until the kids all graduate as they like the Caribbean. You will have to let us know how you like it! Our kids are 16, 13 and 13. Yes, that melting cake is my FAVORITE! I can't wait to have it again!!! Less than 4 weeks to go and we will be on the Dream!

Yes we definitely want to go to Alaska! I have coworkers that have been and they have said it was the most beautiful cruise they have ever been on! Yep Cameron & Colby are identical twins. We can't wait to get on this next cruise!!! 25 days to go :)

Love your door decorations. Can you explain how you made them? or where did you purchase them? THANKS! BTY: What did you use to hang them on the door?
Thanks! Almost everything came from dollar tree, you can usually find cute stuff in their seasonal section. You can get the letters at any craft store. It was put together with ribbon and a hot glue gun and I used command strips to hang them (also posterboard putty to hold them on place). Also there is an entire group on Facebook for Carnival door decorations, there are some great ideas on there. Good luck!
I'm so excited to go!! I've only been on Carnival Magic, so what's Freedom like for you guys?
We sailed on the Magic in 2015 before it got all of its awesome upgrades but we still really enjoyed that ship with the slides/waterpark, etc. But the Freedom has been the best cruise we have been on so far! It is only slightly smaller than the Magic and may not have all of the same bells and whistles, but we loved it! The layout is very cozy, the food is great and the shows are AMAZING! Our favorite place to spend time was the Red Frog Pub on deck 5. It was never crowded since there was only one entrance, unlike the Magic that had three. It was a nice quiet place to relax and play some games, our boys loved it here too with the shuffleboard, foosball and chess sets. We have several videos from this cruise that will show you the entire ship and what activities are offered. We will be sailing on the Dream in just a few weeks, we're so excited! Happy cruising!

Do you mind another question please. The cheers drinking package; is it worth getting it. I see myself drinking more than 5 a day and my wife about the same with her wines. My wife likes the fancy wines. Thanks again good people.
You break even at about 5 drinks so in your case I would say yes. Plus soda, bottled water, specialty coffee etc are included.

Did you have to make reservations for the ferry ride to the cruise ship or did you literally just drive up and pay? Also how much was parking for the duration of the cruise?
The ferry runs all day, every day and there is no cost. We use Lighthouse Parking and it is about @$75 for the week.

Hi, this and the other Freedom video were great. It's well made and great information. Jan 2020 will be our first cruise and we are excited to go. Can you please help us on answering a few questions. One, how much is parking and how early can we get there to park the car? Any parking tips? Two, everywhere we read, it says it's a cashless ship. So how much does Carnival take from your card for a deposit? Three, for the excursions and mainly shopping do all the ports take dollars? Or is it better to bring that country's currency? Any excursion tips? Thank you very much? And you have a lovely family.

The Freedom just came out of dry dock and now has a water park!!! That is fantastic! Ok, on your questions, 1. We use Lighthouse Parking for about $65 for covered parking; 2. I am not sure how much of a hold they put on your card, we usually use a credit instead of debit card; 3. Yes all ports take USD. My advice on excursions is book one beach day, one 'exciting' adventure and chose one port to explore on your own and do a little local shopping.

im going on this in less than a week and wanted to know if your kids did any of thr kids clubs, if so what their reviews of them are. This will be my 2 cruise so im hoping it will be fun
First of all, you will love the Freedom! It was the best cruise we have been on so far!!! For some reason, our kids will not even try the clubs. I really don't know why as I thought this would be a great place for them to hang out with kids their age and have age appropriate activities to do. But I would suggest giving them a try! I have heard it is important for them to go to the meet & greet on the first night. Unfortunately if you have the early dining, this will be at the same time. Hope you have a wonderful time!!!

Yep! We always enjoy the experience of the ferry on the way to get on the cruise, but we skip it on the way home...

On a cruise is the rob free? Do you think ton clean? and can I pack free rob in suitcase when I go home?
Sometimes you get the robes and sometimes not. If you take them you will be charged. If you want one let them know and they will get you a brand new one to take home

Yes, we often see the dolphins in the Gulf.

Have you or would you cruise with another cruise line?
Absolutely! We chose Carnival because it is said to be the best line for kids and our kids absolutely love it. But Jason & I are thinking about cruising just the two of us and we are looking at NCL and RCCL. We like to cruise close to home and we can get RCCL out of Galveston and NCL our of New Orleans.
EECC Travels we did our 1st cruise ever in January and loved it. Being from the UK we don't have that many options cruising from the UK
+Jon & Dan Travel Vlogs I have heard there are some great cruises that leave London and go to all of the British Isles and Ireland and Iceland... which sounds amazing!!! Which lines do you have in the UK? Curious what is a typical itinerary?
The main cruise line we have in the UK is P & O which mainly does Europe/med cruises they also do Transatlantic cruises which we are considering for a future cruise, there are 2 Royal Caribbean ships that come over to the UK but only for the summer months and go back to the Caribbean at the end of October, The cruise we are doing in October is with Royal Caribbeans Independence of the Seas from Southampton going to Spain and France.
We are looking at a cruise on Liberty of the Seas which is in the same class. We have about decided to book it... it sails in 6 weeks! Cruising to Spain and France sounds great - can't wait to see those vlogs!
