How much of a difference would it make if I tape the blade and the tip separately? In other words, if the 15cm strip doesn't touch the tip?
Thanks for the video by the way.

You mean if you didn't put any tape on the barrel? It would make a huge difference, as this would mean you most likely ground out on your opponent's lame each time, so you wouldn't be able to score. The tape is an insulator as your blade is part of the circuit.
If you mean just in terms of the long piece not going onto the barrel, that's your choice. It would require a slightly different technique than what I show here as the width of the tape would no longer be able to insulate the barrel, but wouldn't be an issue so long as you still made sure it was fully covered.
As clarification, the 15 cm is the entire length of taping from tip to end. Not just the long piece.

@@askanarmourer9549 Ah I see. Just to clarify, would this slightly different technique still involve putting the tape lined up with the right edge for righties and vice versa?

@@alisonferrer1694 Yup! That taping method works regardless of where you're putting the tape on.

@@askanarmourer9549 Awesome, thank you! (Btw, if you make a "how to wire a blade" video, that would be cool. Just a thought!)
