@@RCPhysics hey so how do I work with it ? I got losi and it’s got that esc in it , only when I plug batteries the car turned on by at her self, but I’m not sure what’s going on
@@abrahamshabatee4384 That's just how these ESCs worked. They come on when you plug in the battery and you shut it off by unplugging it. I think they learned their lesson since the XLX2 and MMX-8S both have manual power switched now.
@@RCPhysics thank you so much because now when I plug the battery it is turn on however, the remote not communicating with the car. That’s why it’s so confusing for me. I will play with it a little bit more however, I really appreciate your first replay. Thank you so very much you’re very kind.
The ESC can handle it in short bursts. The trick is to have a nice smooth throttle pull and have proper gearing on the throttle pull. It seems like most guys who fry their ESC just "drop the hammer" off the line which tells the ESC to go to 100% power immediately. That's almost like just connecting power to ground across the motor. The other thing is to make sure your ripple voltage is under control with some lower power testing. If you're ripple is out of whack and you drive the ESC that hard, there's a high chance that you'll fry it.
The XLX is actually a higher overall capacity ESC than the MMX-8S, so it's fine for that application. However, the MMX-8S would probably run a little cooler and give you the ability to run sensored motors. If you are happy with performance of your setup, there's no reason to change, though.
XLX, hands down. Phillip Jolley did some videos a little while back testing the HW Max5 against the Castle XLX and MMX-8S. The HW ESCs are good, but Castle has some magic that let's them deliver some seriously monstrous levels of current, which means more torque for acceleration.
@@dadon197922 Even though the current sensor on most XLXs is only calibrated to measure 330-350A, these ESCs will deliver more than 400A to the motor (if the motor asks for it). On 8S, that can get close to ~15 electrical hp. They are pretty remarkable devices.
I have an xl2 esc mainly for speed run should I run without cappack ??? Also can you show a video for programming of xlx without computer meaning with remote and what’s good for speed run as in setting like drag brakes or brakes and acceleration.
The XL2 ESC is an awesome unit for speed runs, but it is very sensitive to ripple voltage. I would NOT recommend running it without a good cap pack or you WILL blow your stock caps. Using a programming card is a good way to adjust your tune in the field. I'll add a tutorial video to my queue. The only issue with that is you will not have the log data to help guide your tuning decisions. Ideally, you recommend guys have a laptop handy to read your logs to help guide your tuning decisions, but the programming cards provide a good amount of tunability. Thanks for watching!
This ESC wasn't designed with a switch in mind, so there's no way to incorporate one that won't hurt performance. However, the XLX2, which replaced this ESC, does have a switch.
This is still the most powerful speed run and drag racing ESC on the market. Castle has updated the firmware since the initial release though to improve performance. One nice thing about the castle ESC is there software is very good and allows them to improve performance without actually changing a hardware.
@@Yay-hovah MGMs are a different animal. I've only seen a couple in person. Basically, they can be hand built to your specs, so you can ask them to make pretty much any ESC you want... but you will pay for it. Still, I haven't seen any MGM powered cars match the raw output of an XLX, at least on 8S.
hey i got one but cant find the on off baten. can u tell me where it is please ?
This ESC doesn't have an on/off switch, sadly.

Thanks I've been trying to figure out which wire is aux and rx, helpful video.
Thank you!
A lot of folks are setting these things to 400 amps.....what is the risk of doing this? Will 400 amps cause a risk of frying the XLX?

Is this ESC good for an XMAXX basher with mod 1.5 25/30 gears? Or should I have gone with the Monster X 8s?

Which esc you think is better xlx or max5 for drag racing

rhouse21 - RC Physics thanks ...I see a lot of people running xlx

Hi how do I connect a switch to this esc

Thank you ,
How old is this ESC? I just bought one last week. Did I just buy 4 year old tech?

@@RCPhysics How does it compare to MGM speed controllers?

@@RCPhysics Thanks!
great video bro, nice to see the effort u put into ur vids very informative well done.
Thanks!
Amazing!! thank you sir!
Thanks for watching!
hello bruv..Good stuff.
Just wanted to know if I can use this esc to run 3200kv 320A motor? (Drag races)
Yes it can!
Which motor are you referring to. I'm just curious.
Good stuff, 6.5 is all you need, MIDWID & One Luv! By all means add your cappack to it 4sure!
Thanks, sir!
nice vid that xlx esc goes to 400a
I've hear that, but I've "only" seen it go to ~340 Amps in data logs so far. My goal is to see if I can max it out, though. ;-)
ive got 365a on a run
ill send u some data on instagram
put it on 400 amp
