Back when Monster Hunter Tri released my parents would not allow me to play online. Now, years later, I have the chance to make up for the memories I've missed. Thank you and the dev team for this wonderful announcement. Time to wipe the dust off my old Wii!
Tri might not have been the biggest game in the series but to me it will always be the game I remember most fondly because without it, I wouldn't be as big of a fan as I am now. To see that is similar for so many people is pretty fantastic
I would always watch my brother play when I was younger I didn't know how to play then but ever since beating and understanding how things work now on world and rise I wanna play tri once again to feel the nostalgia
Same for me with MHFU. After that i had to jailbreak my psp to get mhp3rd with a community patch that translated the most important parts. It was such a great time.

@@Yuuuuurtle well, since early last year i think. There is a lot of private server MH Frontier and you can check it, maybe you will find MHF private server in your region (i used play in Rain server and the server based in indonesia, a lot of overseas player play at there too)

Tri is a 11/10 experience. I love the darker caves and underwater controls and combat. Wish darker caves stuck around in 3U. Unfortunate it was removed. Can't wait to try out LocLac City for the first time. Looks great!

We can say that, almost every MH Generation Is alive once again Minegarde Dundorma Loc Lac 4th Gen Games are still up like the recent 5th Gen Games (Which compared with MH1 to 3 doesn't have their Hub cities locked behind online anyways) Is just beautiful, the fact that Monster Hunter Is More alive than ever, thanks to the community.
I remember getting Tri for less than $8, with case at GameStop. Back around 2016-2017. My buddies who were long time veterans said there wasn’t any point. Because the servers were down. Glad I kept the game!

I remember playing this for the entire summer when it released. It helped me bond with a classmate I had issues with, as well as introduced me to a lot of cool people online. We all pushed ourselves and helped each other out with anything we needed. Good times. Hope you guys are doing well, wherever you are.
Dude you can't understand how happy I am , I remember when I was a kid I discovered online too late and could only see Loc Lac for a very short time , not being able to access one of the most important parts of my favourite Monster Hunter . When I went to ask in the forums if they would ever reopen the servers I was taken for a fool and instead thanks to a masterful job we are there! I will be able to replay one of the best games I have ever played!
It’s sad that the fans are the ones that have to do all the work in order to preserve a video game. I guess it makes sense from a business standpoint but still.. I have the utmost respect for the people who behind this. Nicely freaking done

I remember sometimes just hanging out in the town lobby talking to all the people, sometimes then meeting in a room and doing quests, making friends. and I remember being there on the last day, among friends and hunters the likes not seen again in later games. capcom started killing the chat functions after tri and I never forgave them!!!!
I played this game so much during the Wii; back then, people would communicate even if they didn’t understand each other. I remember talking with people from all over till early in the morning. I think I had a few friends from Brazil.
Being a long time Nintendo kid, vanilla MH3 was my definitive go-to online game back when I was in middle school (alongside the Wii version of COD4, screw you I liked it), and I’m so glad to not only see it alive again, but that it’s so easy to get back on the new servers on the original hardware
Holy cow...Tri was the first game that I ever really played online, and to top it off it was my introduction to the Monster Hunter franchise. In case the profile pic didn't give it away, it became my favorite game franchise that I sunk countless hours into, building friendships with online communities for the first time. When the servers shut down, I was sad. Sure, we had 3U and 4 by then, but the clan I had rolled with for years, The Bacon Brigade, had never exchanged contact info outside the game. I was a low rank hunter just hopping online for the first time when I had these 3 higher ranks join my lobby. We goofed off, added each other as friends, and played regularly for years. When the server went down, that was the last I heard from those guys I had spent so many hours with... While time has passed and the Bacon Brigade is now only a fond memory, knowing that others have a chance to experience the same today is incredible. Looks like DRAKOS from the Bacon Brigade may have to log back in and check out the old stomping grounds! To the team who made this happen, a huge thanks, and thank you for spreading the word about this monumental project!

I was ten when this game came out, I played the one that came out right after, growing up with monster hunter it’s great to see my older friends get to be kids with their friends again
I never had the chance to play my first ever Monster Hunter (Tri) online because the city was already gone when little me first started tri. Its so awsome to see that the community has the passion to bring something like that back to offer players the possibility to experience it after so many years and bringing people the awsome and nostalgic memories of the older games. It makes me truly happy
That's pretty cool. I never played MH3, but I hope you people have a wonderful time and that this can get new players into the game. Private servers were a huge help in me trying out Phantasy Star Online and with how healthy those servers tend to be, I have a high hopes that this will take off :)
I love when projects like these see success. Being able to play Halo 2 online for the first time through XLink Kai was awesome, and I'm happy that Monster Hunter fans get to enjoy an experience that many would have missed out on.
Tri on Wii was my intro to the series. It was a great time to get into it that I still remember fondly. Meeting Deviljho for the first time with that bloody Qurupeco... I was a terrible hunter though. I remember timing out after 50 minutes on a Diablos quest more than once. Somehow I eventually got carried through an Alatreon quest. I did dump my Wii disc and saves years back, so I might pop in eventually to try it out again. Hopefully I've learned a thing or two from 4U, Gen, GU, World, Iceborne, Rise and Sunbreak.
This is amazing, so long ago i played on loc lac and made friends that now are not here because of the dissapearence of online, i even made a forum for the team.
Me and my friends have been playing it for the past week, and while its cool seeing Loclac and experiencing Tri, it has made us appreciate later mohun quite a bit more
Monster Hunter community has managed to retrieve : 1. Monster Hunter 1 and G online town Minegard 2. Monster Hunter 2 Dos Dondurma Online town 3. Monster Hunter 3 online Loclac 4. Monster Hunter Frontier almost entirely even on PS Vita (just need to reviving the game on other platform which is PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox 360) And they just need to revive another obscure Monster Hunter game which is Tencent Chinese Monster Hunter Online and i hope we can see this game coming back because despite the mmo-ish vibe but this game still has some charm
I don't even own Tri but I may have to buy it.. anyway I just wanted to say I am so impressed at the generosity of the dev team and whoever is paying for the server!! Very nice of you all.

monster hunter tri was my very first mh game. i still remember the very first time i booted it up and i literally couldnt play it at first without my older brother keeping me company cuz i was too scared LMAOO. the mh series has a special place in my heart now. watching this video, seeing the servers are back up and hearing “welcome back to Loc Lac” actually made me cry. serious thanks to everyone involved in this coming to fruition 💖💖

Have been playing with my buddy that I used to local co op 3U on the 3ds with back in the day. Constant waves of nostalgia. Everyone that made this possible is a total legend
I've had bad experiences with private servers. The Warhammer online one had the devs removing transmog, buffing the faction and classes they played and banning people they argued with on the forum. Now I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, but when you give amatures (in the sense that it's not someone that does it as their job) full control, and most importantly, power, over something they are greatly emotionaly invested in, things have a chance to take an unpleasant turn. I just hope, over time, it won't happen to this private server too
Man should have kept my wii version, monster hunter Tri was my first monster hunter game and man did I love it! The graphics and textures were really brought up back then.
Maaaan I played MH3U and the players were so caring and united, asking "what itens I wanted to farm" and such, I have a modded Wii , I will start play TRI again
The sparse cutscenes and that one street you ran around on was so busy and full of life. It finally gave monster hunter a coeshive identity to me. Like there are real cities and this really was a world.
I love watching your videos, being quite a fan, a big fan of this series since MHFU, which I played since I was a simple 7-year-old child, I have grown as I have continued playing this game, until MHWIB, watching your videos transports me a little to those vibes that the old games gave us, remembering how much fun I had before with this game, thank you very much for that. Quick tip for new Dolphin users (like myself): when setting up your controller, be sure to select Wii Remote, not GameCube Controller in the Controllers menu in Dolphin. On the right side of the Wii Remote setup menu is the Extension drop down menu. Click it and select "Classic Controller". You can then calibrate your controls by clicking the Extension tab in the same screen, but above and to the left of the drop down menu. I was stumped on why Dolphin was reading my inputs, but Tri wasn't.
I hope online MH4U gets effectively set up. Or capcom makes an official PC port on steam (which will never happen) with 3DS servers shutting down this coming year, I’m going to be extremely sad at the prospect of the game losing such a big chunk of its identity
There are a bunch of online servers for 4U in Citra, but that game really was made with the 3DS in mind. The kick, some exclusive weapon moves, target lock and some other features are only accessible using the touch screen, so it's quite a pain to move your hand out of the controller to use these functions. And c'mon, if you're not unlocking investigations on the shitter before going online, are you really playing 4U?

I've just started playing monster hunter rise as my first time on the series and I've enjoyed so much. So the possibility to play with my friends mh tri for the first time is so exciting, will be trying it this week.
Home 🥲 I haven't been back to Loc Lac since a two years before the server shut down. Me and one of my closest friends ever, Luna, used to spend an ungodly amount of time in Loc Lac....gods I wish she was here to see Loc Lac come back.
MH4U on the 3DS is probably the simplest way current way to try out online for the first time. No online subscription or monthly payment, just boot up and play with others.
It was cool that the open beta started with a sandstorm matching how the server closed. As well I'm hoping to get a lobby of 4 for Wii speak chaos, I've only gotten to do it with 1 other person during the closed beta.

I really hope darkness is a thing in MH6. They experimented with it in early builds for World but cut it from the final game for some reason.

And they just need to revive another obscure Monster Hunter game which is Tencent Chinese Monster Hunter Online and i hope we can see this game coming back because despite the mmo-ish vibe but this game still has some charm

monster hunter tri was my very first mh game. i still remember the very first time i booted it up and i literally couldnt play it at first without my older brother keeping me company cuz i was too scared LMAOO. the mh series has a special place in my heart now. watching this video, seeing the servers are back up and hearing “welcome back to Loc Lac” actually made me cry. serious thanks to everyone involved in this coming to fruition 💖💖

I've had bad experiences with private servers. The Warhammer online one had the devs removing transmog, buffing the faction and classes they played and banning people they argued with on the forum. Now I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, but when you give amatures (in the sense that it's not someone that does it as their job) full control, and most importantly, power, over something they are greatly emotionaly invested in, things have a chance to take an unpleasant turn. I just hope, over time, it won't happen to this private server too

Man should have kept my wii version, monster hunter Tri was my first monster hunter game and man did I love it! The graphics and textures were really brought up back then.

The sparse cutscenes and that one street you ran around on was so busy and full of life. It finally gave monster hunter a coeshive identity to me. Like there are real cities and this really was a world.

Tri was my first mh and I had a blast playing online. Can't set up my wii right now, but I'll be giving it a tri in the future.
I love watching your videos, being quite a fan, a big fan of this series since MHFU, which I played since I was a simple 7-year-old child, I have grown as I have continued playing this game, until MHWIB, watching your videos transports me a little to those vibes that the old games gave us, remembering how much fun I had before with this game, thank you very much for that.

Quick tip for new Dolphin users (like myself): when setting up your controller, be sure to select Wii Remote, not GameCube Controller in the Controllers menu in Dolphin. On the right side of the Wii Remote setup menu is the Extension drop down menu. Click it and select "Classic Controller". You can then calibrate your controls by clicking the Extension tab in the same screen, but above and to the left of the drop down menu.
I was stumped on why Dolphin was reading my inputs, but Tri wasn't.

with 3DS servers shutting down this coming year, I’m going to be extremely sad at the prospect of the game losing such a big chunk of its identity
There are a bunch of online servers for 4U in Citra, but that game really was made with the 3DS in mind. The kick, some exclusive weapon moves, target lock and some other features are only accessible using the touch screen, so it's quite a pain to move your hand out of the controller to use these functions. And c'mon, if you're not unlocking investigations on the shitter before going online, are you really playing 4U?

I've just started playing monster hunter rise as my first time on the series and I've enjoyed so much. So the possibility to play with my friends mh tri for the first time is so exciting, will be trying it this week.

I haven't been back to Loc Lac since a two years before the server shut down. Me and one of my closest friends ever, Luna, used to spend an ungodly amount of time in Loc Lac....gods I wish she was here to see Loc Lac come back.
I teared up. Loc Lac is home. I cant wait to hop on with my friends and have a nostalgia trip!

This is incredible. Never played MonHun with others and it became somewhat of a ritual to do it that way but this is amazing.
MH4U on the 3DS is probably the simplest way current way to try out online for the first time. No online subscription or monthly payment, just boot up and play with others.

It was cool that the open beta started with a sandstorm matching how the server closed. As well I'm hoping to get a lobby of 4 for Wii speak chaos, I've only gotten to do it with 1 other person during the closed beta.
