the reason for only 7 weapon is that there are actually 14. Every weapon had to be redone for underwater since they do not share a single move with their on land sets
Would disagree. There are weapons that differ less, others differ more. But Lance for example has basically the exact same Moveset and speed underwater that it has on land. same goes for longsword, and i think ranged weapons aswell.
This was my first Monster Hunter games, and I'll never forget my first online experience. I was having trouble killing or even capturing the Lagi. I felt like I needed help, so I hopped online and posted the online Quest for hunting the Lagi. A group of Master Rank Hunters joined my game and killed the dang thing in 5 minutes flat. I was floored. I was awed. Those guys were so nice and helpful, and I knew that I wanted to be that Hunter to other new people. I'm SO glad to hear that the underwater combat is as awesome as I remember.
Tri was my first game and where my fondest memories of the series are at. Lagiacrus is forever my favorite monster and I really, really miss the underwater combat.
This is the game I was most hyped about ever in my life. In 2010 with 13 years old, after dumping 1000 hours into MHFU I got a Wii just for this game. When it came out in April I sprinted home from school (it was a Friday) and got the package with the Classic Controller Pro and while unpacking it I literally had tears in my eyes. I waited for this game for years back then and time flies much slower in that age so it felt like an eternity. I played this game the whole weekend basically without leaving my room. Despite its short content I loved it so much. It felt truly like an upgrade from the PSP games. I dumped 700h in it until I dropped it (I think for MHP3rd back then, which I imported from Japan). I love Tri, I consider even MH3U the completest MH till today. I loved the underwater combat so much, just like you. It felt so refreshing just swimming in there. I really, really hope that underwater gameplay comes back with MH Wilds. I will forever love MH Tri for what it is and for the memories it brings me. MH ist just peak gaming
This is the only Monster Hunter game I played before purchasing World/Iceborne recently and it holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for this wonderful video revisting it
Honestly, playing Tri, P3rd, and 3U are all worth playing. They each have something unique and different in each game, which makes them all feel like unique games set in a similar world.
The polish of tri was unreal. Everything was really well done. The online was perfect. Honestly every monster hunter since hasn't had a multiplayer as good as tri's. The online hub really made it feel like a big community all playing together. I spent hours just hanging out chatting in loc lac and casually hunting with people. I was so disappointed when 4u and Gen ultimate didn't have mid hunt chatting. It really takes away from the experience and made it harder to communicate. When I first played world it seemed like no one knew how to communicate at all online. It really killed my enjoyment of the game and led me to just play solo. Same with rise. Not sure ill ever get the same experience I had back on tri. It really was amazing.
This was my actual first monster hunter game and still has some of my favorite map design and feel yet, as much as i dreaded underwater i loved the flooded forest and deserted islands way too much
The gathering quest setup with your "rival" monster showing up when you dont expect them to was done first in MHF2, with a Godamn Tigrex jumping on you trying to collect Popo tongues, good stuff.
As someone who started MH on the PSVita of my younger Brother and only really got into and mastered it with MHW, i now bought this game and a Wii and look very much forward to it! thx for your great vid!... It really shows your love and passion for this game :)
Man, you're making me dust off my stored Wii just to play this marvel. I've been following the Monster Hunter series since the first one on PS2, and currently, I'm on Rise Sunbreak. But for me, to this day, this is the best game of all!
What I loved about tri was that when you go into the hub other hunters are there, you eat together, drink together, and can plan together. In world theres never a need to meet up in the gathering hub and theres many ways to get assistance that it makes interacting very limited/unnecessary, its very rare for someone in the same lobby as me to post a quest and be like who wants to come, or be like "hey we need a bow hunter/specialist". This along with how gathering and crafting can be done on the fly removes alot of planning and experience/value some hunters brought with them to a given lobby. You had to bring everything you needed before starting the quest, and whoever missed the boat or the plane was fresh out of luck until you returned from the quest.
This game was and is just so awesome, I think: everything from the pleasant, simple-living, happy village; the beautiful, scenic vistas of a tropical/Mediterranean landscape; and the awe-inspiring (and, sometimes, adrenaline-pumping), prehistoric-styled creatures (not to mention just the light-hearted yet also immersive-and-impressive mood and scope of this game) really set it apart from most other games. I also really like how it kind’a threw back to text-based dialogue and classical themes, but also kept up with the standard with a fairly-open world that isn’t so open that one loses direction or purpose in it-the pacing was good, the combat was great, and the setting was immaculate. I also liked that the character had a solid background that was still rather general, at the same time: enough that you know who he-or-she is and what they’re about, but it’s open enough that the details are left to the imagination and to choice. All-in-all, this is one awesome game! 😊
Coming in as a fresh hunter was perfect thematically, unlike Rise or World your not certified or part of some huge project initially but rise to the occasion. Perfect as the game that was my first and the one that made me a fan of the series. Lagi quickly became one of my favorite monsters, and considering this was on the Wii was insane with how good the game looked and ran online, got a ton of fun memories with some cool folks who frequented the same pubs
My personal first start of the Monster Hunter series is Tri or Monster Hunter 3. Ultimate came much later, I got spoiled by this game and it was on the Wii, yeah casual gamer lol. I fell in love with this series and got brought under the game's wing with the amazing soundtrack that I still listen to this day. The Deserted Island or the Moga Forest free roam hub with the forecasting of small to large monsters and their habits to be roaming around and or breeding or just avoiding the big monsters like the Great Jaggi for example. Do many hours and days sunk into that game that it was so magical and surreal. I of course knew about 4 ultimate and tri ultimate later was surprising and felt a little disappointed because I felt like everyone quickly moved on and wanted to forget about tri. Thats my personal take, I loved and hated the underwatet combat because when it worked it worked. And when it didn't, it didn't. Like when you got hit or stunned or fainted/died. I got back into it with Ultimate Generations. And was reminded why I loved it and hated myself for not playing it. My friends and family members (brother and cousins and parents when to tell them about the game and to talk in conversations) were hesitant to like Generations ultimate. I ultimately (pun intended) love and like it, it is what it is. Old school monster hunter grindy and levely game play. Now that I have or have many full time actual in real life jobs and can play when I can play besides kepping up with the house and woods and other chores to do. Not an excuse, just saying real life doesn't really bend to a video game. Kind of a luxury video games are if I'm honest and I grew up with them in the 1990's to current day. Anyways TLDR I love the Monster Hunter series and just hope they can make like a remastered Tri Ultimate and a 4 Ultimate in the future or like a dual collection pack or something
@@j.s.t.6515I can at least give my input. I enjoyed both a lot, but tri is inherently more difficult from the get-go which I really enjoyed. 3U gives you base 50 defense, so low rank really isn’t difficult at all there. It evens out after a while, as the armour sets get better. It makes up for it by having G-tank, but I personally find it more enjoyable to be difficult the entire journey, and rather have the journey be shorter. There are also a few other things I missed in 3U - day/night cycles in moga village, subquests, and the fact that low-rank armors were usable in high rank if you upgraded them, but they provided different skills than their high rank counterparts. This was to compensate for the lack of other monsters, but I liked it. TL;DR - both are great. Tri has less content, but is more difficult from the start, so it feels very rewarding all the way.
Revisiting this game this past year has been an amazing experience. I'm so glad the fans have revived the online servers for this game and we can experience Loc Lac again. Over half of the content in this game was locked away when the servers went down and that was truly sad. And thanks to the efforts of the team behind the server revival, if they do ever go down again they've provided us the tools to host our *own* servers should the need arise again. Truly inspiring and amazing work on their part to preserve this game. Edit: To the point of your conclusion section that "Tri does have a 'definitive version' in 3U" I stand by my statement that while 3U does have more content it also feels more "bloated" and less focused than Tri. Tri actually has some quirks and features that 3U doesn't, one of my favorites being the caves being dark enough that Torches actually feel helpful, and the game in general having a more dark color palette and lighting, with lower saturation. And on the point of the water combat, some weapons, and in particular Sword and Shield, have *very* lackluster movesets underwater/ For Sword and Shield it's to the point that it's legitimately weak enough that even playing well your overall damage output even with a dedicated build for SnS and targeting elemental weaknesses it is *still* significantly lower damage than any other option, which is absolutely not the case on land. Some weapons, like Greatsword or Lance, perform very well underwater, but Sword and Shield absolutely does suffer underwater.
I really hope underwater combat comes back and is well made, I’d love to see Namielle come back too if underwater combat comes back as I think it’d fit really well. Also imagine the environment underwater with todays hardware! It’d look amazing! Edit: also I still think this game made one of the biggest jumps forward in terms of ideas and monsters for Monster Hunter!
Tri is the goat. It had the most replayability imo. I hope the next world game brings back relic weapons. It was sooo fun to uncover them while mining and then refine them
Definitely this is still my favourite Monster Hunter to date. The story, environment, exploration in Moga Woods from Moga Village, weapons, monsters, even the final boss. It's all well thought of. Like to see underwater combat to return.
Man, such nastalgia! I started with 3U and this really takesme back. I honestly wouldnt mind a port to the Switch while waiting for the next mainline mh console game.
It's so badass being able to play this on the Retroid Pocket 3+ so flawlessly and playing on the TV, taking it on the go etc. Monster Hunter has been the game I've been always looking for
This was the game that me a lifetime fan of the series. I still remember the last moments of the online hub. So many memories. The funniest thing that I just now realized was that despite the fact had a pirated version of the game (homebrew channel off of a hard drive) I was able to play online. Good times
I never had Tri myself, but I played it sometimes at a friend's place and watched him play it even more and I did not expect the Ceadeus theme to be burned this deeply into my brain.
Monster Hunter Tri was my first Monster Hunter game. Sadly, I never got to beat it on the Nintendo Wii. Regret that. I did get 3 Ultimate on Wii U. Hoping I'll be able to remedy that mistake through that game.
I'm glad that you got to the online portion of the game again, I wish I was playing it some more since the open beta launched but I've been obsessed with MH1 and MHG's online for the past few weeks and I guess I might have played to much during the closed beta.
Yeah there's just not enough time for all of it unfortunately so I feel ya there. I wanna play Gen Ultimate too but also don't want to jump around too much haha
Yeah lol but if you played a game as a kid and didn’t have TH-cam videos showing you how to pronounce things I’d probably pronounce all the names weird as well
The era of MH3 and Endless Ocean made me feel being underwater, mostly due to atmosphere and sound effects. If it returns in 7th gen (I'm giving up on 6th) I'll totally cry out of nostalgia.
@@crazykhespar8487 I just started playing MH4 in the 3ds, and i already have a full set of armor, the areas are way bigger to run away.. It does feel toned down.. But i guess its to appeal a larger target.. Maybe they will go back to the "You will cry to beat a rathian" roots in the future..
I very distinctly remember when I got to that monster guts quest where lagiacrus shows up. At one point, it followed me into the main water area, and I was hiding from it on shore. In real life, I was taunting it and giving it shit for not being able to reach me for a good couple of minutes, and I was waiting for it to go away so I could continue. At some point, it spotted me through the water, and its battle music started playing, at which I started giving it even more shit for not being able to reach me. It was at that moment, that the Lagiacrus decided to jump onto land to chase me, and scared the absolute shit out of me. I went RUNNING through the next couple of areas to try and escape it
my first monstere game was on the psp moslty freedom 2 then freedom unite and lastly portable 3rd these three series got me hooked on the series throught my early to late teenage years and at the time i havent heard about other monster hunters in the series like tri ,3 ultimate , and other monster hunters and now hearing mh wild is close bye made me motivated to try out other old gen mh games aside from the firsts three i played
@@TeraRyzawhen I was younger I used to explore in mhfu and tri and just immerse myself in the scenery of the eviroments. I would look at the background in the distance and just imagine what monsters were doing in the far lands haha.
i finished my first playthrough of mh3u a few months ago and i have to say, without any nostalgia, i really want the underwater combat to return. the pure immersion of hunting a royal ludroth and having it escape into the water just for me to dive after it is immense. same with lagiacrus escaping to his underwater cave. i agree that it can be janky but i never had any real issues with it that cant be fixed by modern tech
Hands down, TRI is the most beautifull game in the entire series, I cant getover how everything just looks right, idk how to explain it, but the colors and the just high enough level of detail combine to create such a pleasing look. The later classic mh games like 4u and GenU feel a little too "deep fried" imo and World and Rise have a completely different art style by that point. Tri's (NOT 3U) is by far my favorit look for the series
The SeaSide ambient is amazing....but for me 4/4U have the best looking graohics because of how colorful they made it....its less realistic and more cartoony, but it fits 3DS capabilities more....Tri is afterall a Wii game, and Wii and 3DS are very different hardware
I played Tri when I was 14 yo and couldn't get past Barioth. I tried everything, different weapons, bombs while it was asleep, but no chance. So I put this game back. In 2022 I thought why not give it another chance? But this time with 3U. No problems at all. I don't know if it was because of the new version or the 11 years of gaming experience in between but I love Tri/3U for what they are ❤️
Has been years, but still THE BEST MonsterHunter Game, basic (which is not a negative thing). And i LOVED the BowGun Approach, with Building your own gun... bring it back PLS!
This was my first mh ever, def had so many fun memories playing and doing online stuff as well. Saying that, I'm not going back to playing it again. Now that I played other mh games from past and present, I'm gonna see it's flaws more. Plus I'm not gonna play this the same like before, plus online being dead forever.
For me, I played tri and 3U like 2-3 years ago, it became my favuorite monster hunter and what made me a hunting horn main haha, I started off with Freedom unite like a lot of others, but only starting 3U did I enjoy monster hunter a lot more, otherwise I was just playing because my friends and brother were playing it
Ive never played any MH games so this will be my first time picking it up later on today. Awesome video and thanks for the spoiler warning Lol i know its beeen out so i appreciate the heads up before you really get into the story
Personally, since I played 3U on the 3DS I had a very difficult time with the camera underwater. However, having a second stick to control the camera definitely relieved this issue. The larger issue with the underwater combat is that it feels very hard to avoid monster attacks. I have come to believe that the developers had to create such large hitboxes due to the 3D environment that I imagine to have caused most of the monster attacks to miss. The lack of the superman dive underwater feels very punishing for attacks with lasting hitboxes. I felt that the vertical dodges should have been the alternative for the superman dive, but it rarely helped in moving out of harms way in my experience. The depth perception in water is another annoying factor that makes weapons with shorter range all the more frustrating. After watching an interview stating that the underwater combats were to make the hunters feel overwhelmed by the monsters in their natural territory, I was able to experience underwater combat in a more composed perspective in my second playthrough 10 years later. In one hand, I appreciated the work they put in creating new movesets and actions underwater. They definitely were not lazily pasted motions from land, but made ground up. On the other hand, I have set my opinion on the side that underwater combat was a new, interesting idea with gorgeous ambience that unfortunately is limited by the 2D projection of a game.
I still remember how I first got tri. I remember seeing it in the local EB Games and thinking fighting giant monsters was awesome. I think I had also read a piece about it in nintendo power before that. But it could have been a piece about 3U since I also got that later
Is they do nothing else with Tri, i pray they brinf back the bowgun system from this game. Medium Bowguns are such a simply fun concept, and being able to mix and match light, medium, and heavy pieces made them by far the most interesting the Bowguns have ever been.
I only played world and Rise; I prefer World by far. Which earlier MH would you recommend nowadays? bonus points if it runs easily and smoothly on PC, with most of the G/master rank content still accessible ;-)
I love this game, it's the only game in all my life that I've put in 200 hours . Everything else has been less than 40 hours. I was kid in highschool, and I would skip school and lose sleep just grinding and socializing with people in this game. I'm saddened that I wasn't there when the lobby officially closed. I didn't have Internet during that time. I'm just getting back to monster hunter after trying Rise and I skipped generations and World. Nintendo and Capcom should remaster this game.
With underwater combat looking increasingly unlikely to return for Wilds, I guess I'd be playing Tri on the side when the game releases. But who knows? Maybe Capcom will surprise us.
Something amazing but also worrying to me, and I thought about it when you were talking about the cozy 4 player lobbies, is that MHGU, as of April, will be the oldest MH game with official servers that has those nice lobbies. In a way it will be the only one as well. Technically Sunbreak has those lobbies, but you don't have to be in one to join a quest so it doesn't feel as important.
The saddest thing is, that outside of Frontier, Tri had the best online mode to this date in the series. World may be a PC/Home Console exclusive, but it still adopts the mobile MH style of Multiplayer, but forced online. The only good thing in World are festivals, Everything else, is better in Tri. Tri, a Game on a console known for bad online Multiplayer has better online Multiplayer than a game on consoles where you need to pay for online Multiplayer (except on PC ofc).
Nintendo was willing to help with online servers for Tri and Sony was not and Nintendo helped with development for the Wii so it came out on Nintendos console
So I got a few thoughts of my on to share on tri, first of its my 4th favourite game in the franchise only being beaten by 1st 4U 2nd world/iceborne 3rd freedom unite which was my first game so I have more nastagla for that one, anyway here il share why I love tri, First of lt does the best job of truly making you feel like the humble hunter of a small village community, the smaller roaster of monsters and weapons acutaly works in its favour and it's a game that takes you on a journey thats personal, I also loved the graphics something about it being a little darker and more dull made the game feel more grounded and real which is part of why I acutaly like tri more then 3U which got a light brighter and more anime with it which I'm not huge on, I prefer the more grounded games, I loved the Moga woods day night cicle and the pirate dude with the longsword, tri has the best companion in cha cha by far, and Lagiacrus is one of the nest Flagships both in being a monster full stop but also is being a acutal Flagship for the game, he's up there with Tigrex and gore magala in my eyes, and it's great to have seen it take a chance with water combat which is something that should return, water combat and the monsters that come with it have to much to offer the series for us to turn our back on it forever, One extra lesson I think tri can also teach us is about how we design monsters and tri had a problem with feeling like it was trying to replace the old roaster, some are great additions that do a good job of being different even if they fill the same role, some are better then old ones, some feel like infirior remakes to me but the point is the lesson we should take from tri is we should mabye stop trying to refill the niches/roles over and over and start making completely new stuff for new environments cuz just look at this list Dromes = greats baby's first monster rapter Yian kut ku = qurupeco early game wyvern Khezu = gigginox cave wyverns Tigrex = Barioth popo eating snow Psudo wyvern Gravious = uragaan giant rocky ore eater Lavisioth = Agnaktor lava swimmer If you acutaly read this il be amazed lol I know this is a bit of rambling essay I just have a lot of thoughts to share lol
@@emblemblade9245 i can see where you coming from, yeah there are some that I think can exist side by side like qurupeco and gigginox, some which are straight up better like Agnaktor and some which I think are worse like uragaan and Barioth
As it was originally going to be made for PS3 I'm kinda gutted it never happened. Don't get me wrong, I loved it on the Wii, it would still be playable today if they went through with it on PS3. I know there's some private servers about now, I'd have just liked to have played it without having to mess about. Oh me and my mates used the Wii speak, but it was really poor.
Monster Hunter Tri looks like a game i could easily emulate I really want to play it But no, sadly i have nothing that could emulate this game and anything forward I'm eternally stuck with Freedom and Portable 3rd
Showing up online to just chat with hunters. Or hanging out chatting after a long hunting session was quite normal for me too. It was worth the wait man. Also video idea for you. Have you heard of the Monster Hunter Tag? It's that has a several questions about your Monster Hunter experience. Look it up. Others have made videos so you can get a feel for it. I already did mine. But I'll tag you anyway, if you're up for it. 👍
Yeah under water was great. My only guess why it was perceived to have had bad reception was due to an influx of new players. The same people that would complain MH in general is clunky and UW combat was just an easy target.
i started with world played rise then 4 ultimate then 3 ultimate and i must say i think mh3u brings a lot of depth into the game i thought underwater combat to be fresh and liked it yeah some movesets are better other are worse but i was something else
Way way way more playable than the past 2 console versions of the series.... Granted, it's best if you had the wii controller add on 😅 But that in of itself made this game a way better more memorable version than the old school PS2 games with horrifying controls... 😰😓😖
Thank you! And yeah, I'm not sure about the pronunciation. Never occurred to me when recording. My friends and I at the time said it the way you heard me say it and guess I've never heard it another way, haha.
To be fair, it's never been officially pronounced, and his pronunciation is closer to what the official Capcom video 🙃 what is life but our own interpretation of anything
@@TeraRyzahaha, hopefully, because I googled it and that video is from the official Capcom US channel lol, I have dyslexia so I am used to pronouncing things my own way, one of the first times I looked at Anjanath's name it was capitalized and I then pronounced the name Azjanath in my head for 3-4 weeks, until I heard it in a video 😅
As a Switch owner, I’d be fine with that IF the system that succeeds the Switch does get a port. I’m hoping the nature of the RE Engine allows for such ports to be possible though obviously I can’t guess how powerful the next system will be. I’m not asking for any future games to be made for the Switch(etc) first, and then scaled up for other consoles like Rise was. But I’d feel rather disappointed and annoyed if the main titles of the series have to be so intensive that only half are made available to me (since I just got into the franchise a few years ago with 4U and I’d hate to need to buy another console just to continue playing all of it). I’m sure it’s possible to strike a good compromise still.
@@belikewatersf1051 listen man. I have a switch, but the hardware is weaker than the Xbox one and PS4. It can't handle the level of MH game the community deserves.
This video clearly proved that if they just put enough time and effort into the game it'd be successful this game came out on the Wii for christ sake the thing we all used to just play bowling on and that's it but look at Tri supposed to be a PS3 title but dropped to the Wii and still a gem from most of our teenage/childhood years
I have a wii u and I realy want to play it. Is it still worth it? And I gona be honest I like how it doesn't have much content. I play world currently and I do fell overwhelmed 😂.
I don’t think there’s a version of MHTri for wiiu. There’s 3U, which has more content but not exactly the same feeling as Tri. I think it’s still worth it tho, it has a working multiplayer and you can do hub quests even in solo
the reason for only 7 weapon is that there are actually 14. Every weapon had to be redone for underwater since they do not share a single move with their on land sets

I also liked that the character had a solid background that was still rather general, at the same time: enough that you know who he-or-she is and what they’re about, but it’s open enough that the details are left to the imagination and to choice. All-in-all, this is one awesome game! 😊
Thank you for making this, this was my introduction to the series and also for me, the best part was the friends I made along the way
It truly was the friends we made. Those are my most fond memories. Many people may not see this video but I was happy to make it!
My first monster hunter game was 3 Ultimate, so underwater combat was my "normal" and I really miss it, the new game always feels incomplete to me
Coming in as a fresh hunter was perfect thematically, unlike Rise or World your not certified or part of some huge project initially but rise to the occasion.
What's the real difference between tri and tri ultimate for you from a personal perspective? Wich one would you recommend more? Thanks in advance!
I freaking love Namielle, man. Please bring her back. And yeah, this games monsters were such a leap forward, right?!
For me MHtri was a blast online, i put 700+ hours in online mode..
Man, such nastalgia! I started with 3U and this really takesme back. I honestly wouldnt mind a port to the Switch while waiting for the next mainline mh console game.
Of all the old world titles, 3U is the one that constantly pulls me back in.
I appreciate your perspective on this game.
Man great video, God I miss underwater hunting
Wish you talked about the first time the bird makes a Deviljho call 💀 great memory of "What call is tha- HOLY CRAP A GIANT PICKLE!!"
That was every novice hunters first taste of true fear right there
Yeeeeep hahahahah
@@TeraRyza The Monster Hunter Dos servers are getting really close to completion if you want to take a look at a really unique monster hunter game.
very well composed video!
Thank you! 😁
“Laggy A-cruise”
Yeah lol but if you played a game as a kid and didn’t have TH-cam videos showing you how to pronounce things I’d probably pronounce all the names weird as well
thats the game that made me fall in love with gaming and the monster hunter series
My heart will always be with MonHun Freedom 2 as its where I started my hunter journey. Pokke Village is my home!
Just hearing you say Monster hunter tri, give me the chills
The era of MH3 and Endless Ocean made me feel being underwater, mostly due to atmosphere and sound effects. If it returns in 7th gen (I'm giving up on 6th) I'll totally cry out of nostalgia.
Im still playing MHtri in the wii..
Still a great game..
The weird hitboxes, and punishing AI at times, its part of the charm..
They made it easier in 3U and onward
Weaklings. WEAKLINGS!
@@aocg1914 MH4u is honestly the best "Monster Hunter" feeling game from the original feel of the franchise. Never played MH4 but MH4U is amazing.
You forgot to mention the fantastic commercials for these games, starring Stan Ellsworth, rest in peace
I'm playing tri for the first time and I think it's really good so far this isn't my first monster hunter game I am enjoying the swimming mechanic
Great stuff! I've been thinking of going back through Tri to try out the multiplayer.
Thank you! It's pretty good from what I've played. It's quite nearly the same experience
I always liked that fighting royal ludroth prepared you to fight gobul and lagi, which then prepared you to face ceadeus
Underwater combat is super cool but I honestly liked the Underwater exploration more.
I feel that. Just swimming around was fun In my revisit honestly.
Loved the NA promo commercials for this game
Underwater Bow combat would honsetly break my immersion though... funny enough how fast you can swing your weapon underwater in this game xD
God is bleeding nuff said that's a black dragon
I played Tri when I was 14 yo and couldn't get past Barioth. I tried everything, different weapons, bombs while it was asleep, but no chance. So I put this game back. In 2022 I thought why not give it another chance? But this time with 3U. No problems at all. I don't know if it was because of the new version or the 11 years of gaming experience in between but I love Tri/3U for what they are ❤️
Has been years, but still THE BEST MonsterHunter Game, basic (which is not a negative thing). And i LOVED the BowGun Approach, with Building your own gun... bring it back PLS!
I love this game, but I was happy to see underwater combat go.
No MH ever got as much hate as base Tri got when it first came out not even base Rise. So its nice seeing people being this positive about the game.^^
Endo! ENDO! Omg, I shed a tear when you said that name! It CAN'T be you.. Is it?? I am years late, but I am here! 😭😭😭 It ME! Mimi!
Deserted Island theme is Lagiacrus theme, like how Verdant Hill theme is Rathalos'
The best ❤🎉
Truly ❤️
Good take after good take
Something amazing but also worrying to me, and I thought about it when you were talking about the cozy 4 player lobbies, is that MHGU, as of April, will be the oldest MH game with official servers that has those nice lobbies. In a way it will be the only one as well. Technically Sunbreak has those lobbies, but you don't have to be in one to join a quest so it doesn't feel as important.
best monster hunter
Monster Hunter tri its best 😎
The saddest thing is, that outside of Frontier, Tri had the best online mode to this date in the series.
World may be a PC/Home Console exclusive, but it still adopts the mobile MH style of Multiplayer, but forced online.
The only good thing in World are festivals, Everything else, is better in Tri.
Tri, a Game on a console known for bad online Multiplayer has better online Multiplayer than a game on consoles where you need to pay for online Multiplayer (except on PC ofc).
Wait! How do you access online?!!
Nintendo was willing to help with online servers for Tri and Sony was not and Nintendo helped with development for the Wii so it came out on Nintendos console
So I got a few thoughts of my on to share on tri, first of its my 4th favourite game in the franchise only being beaten by 1st 4U 2nd world/iceborne 3rd freedom unite which was my first game so I have more nastagla for that one, anyway here il share why I love tri,
First of lt does the best job of truly making you feel like the humble hunter of a small village community, the smaller roaster of monsters and weapons acutaly works in its favour and it's a game that takes you on a journey thats personal, I also loved the graphics something about it being a little darker and more dull made the game feel more grounded and real which is part of why I acutaly like tri more then 3U which got a light brighter and more anime with it which I'm not huge on, I prefer the more grounded games, I loved the Moga woods day night cicle and the pirate dude with the longsword, tri has the best companion in cha cha by far, and Lagiacrus is one of the nest Flagships both in being a monster full stop but also is being a acutal Flagship for the game, he's up there with Tigrex and gore magala in my eyes, and it's great to have seen it take a chance with water combat which is something that should return, water combat and the monsters that come with it have to much to offer the series for us to turn our back on it forever,
One extra lesson I think tri can also teach us is about how we design monsters and tri had a problem with feeling like it was trying to replace the old roaster, some are great additions that do a good job of being different even if they fill the same role, some are better then old ones, some feel like infirior remakes to me but the point is the lesson we should take from tri is we should mabye stop trying to refill the niches/roles over and over and start making completely new stuff for new environments cuz just look at this list
Dromes = greats baby's first monster rapter
Yian kut ku = qurupeco early game wyvern
Khezu = gigginox cave wyverns
Tigrex = Barioth popo eating snow Psudo wyvern
Gravious = uragaan giant rocky ore eater
Lavisioth = Agnaktor lava swimmer
If you acutaly read this il be amazed lol I know this is a bit of rambling essay I just have a lot of thoughts to share lol
Nah this was all well written. The Monster comparisons you did are spot on as well! I could go on about why I like Tri but I guess I already did 😂
To me, Tri feels more like it made a positive revamp of the 1st/2nd gen monsters, where it expanded on what made them work.
It worked…sometimes…
@@emblemblade9245 i can see where you coming from, yeah there are some that I think can exist side by side like qurupeco and gigginox, some which are straight up better like Agnaktor and some which I think are worse like uragaan and Barioth
Just started really playing this, way better then Rise
Can this game be completed without using online servers?
You cant go to loc lac, but you can do solo village quest
Only low rank canbe done offline..
i wish they bring this game back.. i remember the servers shutting down😪
There are fan servers that you can join, via Wii or Dolphin Emulator.
You sound completely different now
As it was originally going to be made for PS3 I'm kinda gutted it never happened. Don't get me wrong, I loved it on the Wii, it would still be playable today if they went through with it on PS3. I know there's some private servers about now, I'd have just liked to have played it without having to mess about. Oh me and my mates used the Wii speak, but it was really poor.
Monster Hunter Tri looks like a game i could easily emulate
I really want to play it
But no, sadly i have nothing that could emulate this game and anything forward
I'm eternally stuck with Freedom and Portable 3rd
Laggy-ah-cruise?
MH going from PSP to Wii is not strange at all......the original MonsterHunter G had a Wii version before any PSP game was developed
Way way way more playable than the past 2 console versions of the series....
Granted, it's best if you had the wii controller add on 😅
But that in of itself made this game a way better more memorable version than the old school PS2 games with horrifying controls... 😰😓😖
I have both freedom unite and monster hunter 3 ultimate for 3ds and honestly Unite is the best mh game but I love to suffer in video games
The only reason for me to play MHtri is the water in this game look much better than 3U
Awesome video but your pronunciation of Lagiacrus is painful lol
Edit: you say Laggy-uh-cruise but it should be Luh-guy-a-kris
@alesgrym4622 maybe we'll finally find out if they bring Lagia back with the voice acting we have now haha
@alesgrym4622 Azjanath doesn't sound that bad tho 😂😂

I hope the next Monster Hunter does NOT come out on switch. Please god give us a big console and PC game like World.
I would legit be devastated if we didn't get a proper return to modern consoles after Rise..
I hope it’s available on all platforms sir hater.
