Exactly the way I see it. I'm painfully underwhelmed. I'm afraid Omega has been reduced to cashing in on the enormous strength of their name, raising prices but churning out inferior quality under the cover of "vintage". I find myself really getting into the microbrands, especially Christopher Ward. Excellent video though for sure.
@@modano182 The milanese bracelet is not crap though just because it doesn't fit you. Keep in mind it comes in 3 different sizes. I have it on my SMP and it looks great and very comfortable.
1000000000% this thing is way off track! I don’t want to pay MORE for an aluminum bezel, no date, a cheaper bracelet and the same outdated 55hr PR 8800 series movement.
These are an end of model life cycle transitionary model. It makes no sense to run Seamasters in two seperate case sizes this close to the end of life cycle. The new Seamasters are coming next year. These new 42mm models are to maintain interest in a product line until the new models are released. The new one will come with different case size options, a new redesigned tapering bracelet and a date or no date model. Expect it second half of 2025.

Bezel is not cheaper. It’s just in another material and fully lumed. I bet you this bezel is more expensive to produce than the regular ceramic one. The dial is the same story - aluminum dial with that heavily worked on pattern might also be more expensive to produce. I am with Adrian. This might be the best smp300 yet.
Favorite Seamaster is still the Seaweed (Green) SMP300. It's colour is just SO versatile, looks black in some lighting, bright green in others and then this lovely deep seaweed green in daylight.
I doubt you will be in the minority. The mesh bracelet from omega is lovely quality but it doesn’t fit well cos the holes are too far apart. Plus it’s easy to get after market mesh bracelets for Seamasters. I’ve got one for each of my Seamasters and they fit better than the omega one would.

Agreed. They’re swapping out the ceramic bezel and zirconium dial for cheaper aluminium , and getting rid of the date function but charging you more for it all.
The Seamaster needs a complete overhaul and this is a good start (the grey model, thinking about the Pewter Autavia there). Maybe you can call a 90s design neo vintage, but a mesh bracelet really goes back further than that.
Omega listening to their customers! The AR only on one side, domed sapphire, plus the aluminium bezel and dial are going to age so gracefully. This is the Seamaster you'd want to pass down.
The domed sapphire will not age gracefully, it’s a vintage gimmick that makes the thick watch look even more bloated. Horrible horrible design choice. No one else does that!
No time to die is the best one, on strap. I also have the green which is nice. Holding it back from being the perfect watch and reason I really prefer my Pelegos FXD on the green strap is the bezel is just so hard to turn and slippery - its not really that useable in my opinion.

I do love the steel mesh bracelet that comes on the Omega.
As a watch enthusiast with NO budget, thank you MAMACOO for great-looking mechanical watches that I can afford! their are very clean, classy look, $150 each. I still watch videos about expensive “proper” watches, but I enjoy what I have
They both look really nice. I really dig the gray one. Look forward to seeing them in person at my AD. My favorite Seamaster is still the white face with black bezel.
I agree. This is the closest thingI’ve seen to timeless perfection from omega, apart from the moonwatch. I think it would look stellar on an orange nato or rubber strap (yellow, too). I also think it’s an excellent vacation watch (Who cares about two time zones when you’re on vacation?) bc of the strap versatility. I will get one on the mesh and a bunch of straps to go with it.
I think the new black and white seamaster looks amazing! I also can live with the 42mm diameter but they should have reduced the thickness to 12,8mm or something. Especially now without a date function, there is no excuse for that hefty thickness
The only complaint I have with an Omega Watch with no date is why don’t they have the 8900 movement in it with the jump hour? Then it would be perfect . They already have it in the vintage looking Seamaster 300s.
So Take Home……. Omega have made a new cheaper SMP without the expensive ceramic bits and date function and now are charging more! Genius if not a little underhand. 😂
I love the black, it is hard to justify why this is more expensive. I black matte ceramit dial like the Pelagos has would have been the way to go but i'm certainly thinking this is the best looking Seamaster for decades.
Hi Adrian and hi everyone! I'm super happy with the release of this "full silver" version with the engraved titanium bezel 🔥 I was planning to make one in this spirit by mixing a white dial with the Nekton bezel !! In short, I love this piece, it reminds me of the 007 Platinum Aston Martin 5 pieces limited to the world In terms of comfort, I would rather wear it on the "normal" steel bracelet because the mesh is very beautiful but a little uncomfortable and above all I don't like the gap between the lugs which also makes the bezel seem too big ( on small wrist ) Have you the same feeling ??? In short, while waiting for the return of a 2254 bracelet with on-the-fly adjustment which would make this piece ideal, it's a future purchase ! This pieces could be even more cool in a full Titanium version !!
I consider myself a bit of an Omega fanboy, but non-ceramic bezels are a no-go for me. The titanium grey on grey on grey looks like a Yachtmaster knockoff that falls very short. I like the black version a lot were it not for the bezel and the elimination of the date function. Still though, it's a very good locking watch.
These look great! 2 changes I wish they'd make on the Seamaster: 1: Fix the bezel action... it's slippery and hard to grip. 2: Get RID of that Helium Escapement valve on the side of the case. It's like a beautiful model w/ a HUGE wart on the side of her nose. Is there a need for this on a 300m diver anyway? Just my opinion ;)
Adrian, I love seamasters (I own two) but effectively this is a down grade for more money. It’s aluminium bezel, the same thickness with no date! I would like to know the thickness of the case without the crystal though. The mesh bracelet is lovely quality but the holes are so far apart that it doesn’t fit well. I’m sticking with my black current model and my Neo vintage electric blue.
I've tried on many of the current 300m including the NTTD. The case without the see thru back and domed sapphire are the same size with the submariner. Honestly with the mesh strap or rubber strap aside from the sapphire it fits the same as a sub to me.
@ yeah I have also tried on most of the current Seamasters including the NTTD and own two of them. Mine are worn either on straps or on a mesh. I’ve also tried on a sub. I don’t think it wears the same as the sub at all I’m afraid.
@@laurablockley1269 when I say wears the same I mean the height only. Not the feel or weight. The domed glass creates the illusion of it being taller but the thickness is the same to me. I've seen measurements of the midcase only and it's roughly the same.
They should finally bring the design of Planet Ocean Deep Dive to the seamaster diver. No helium valve and the new steel alloy (O-megasteel ) are perfect for that line up. Other than that, I really like them both .
Thanks for the quick release of this video, was hoping you had one out! I think the black dial aluminum bezel represents everything Omega is doing right and should move towards in the future (along with the new white speedy moonwatch) and the silver dial represents everything gimmicky that makes me turn away from Omega with too much funky stuff and limited editions that they need to purge from their catalogue!
Really into the black version. I think they've fixed almost every issue I have with the regular Diver 300; I nearly bought a ceramic Diver 300 but the shininess of the bezel and face of the watch, combined with how deeply recessed the date window had to be, made me hesitate. Omega has taken the best features of the 60th anniversary Bond Seamaster but replaced the lollipop hand and novelty caseback. The only criticism I have is that they don't offer this on the standard Seamaster bracelet, which I happen to love. Anyway, the black one on the rubber strap might even be my next watch purchase. I'll need to try it on first, but I feel this inhabiting the same place in my mind aesthetically as a Rolex Sub, whereas the ceramic Diver 300's couldn't quite get there.
The grey one will wear BIG and the Nekton version released years ago does the metallic bezel look a lot better in my opinion (also seen heavily discounted)
Not sure why you wouldn't have mentioned the Bond 60th model to compare this to, it's nearly identical, just in black instead of blue. Steel, small wave dial, same bracelet, aluminum bezel. Just has the minor bond details removed.
Another super video Adrian - thank you! As much as I have always loved the Seamaster series, I will pass on this variant. They lost me with the Aluminum bezel and dial. While the dial might be ok for a long while, we all know what the aluminum bezel inset will look like after a few years. Aluminum is a downgrade - no doubt about it, and I hope this wasn’t done to cut costs. Also, they have to do something about the thickness of the piece, in this regard and this regard only, they are almost like Invicta watches that became so popular in the 2000’s. I know the Coaxial movements are the culprit here but the thickness has to addressed.
I don't think they introduced the aluminum bezel to cut costs, also because they increased the price on these models. Plus you can find ceramic bezels on a 1500€ Longines hydro conquest. I think it's a design choice I personally don't agree with, they could have used other materials and achieve the same result
My complaint with all Seamasters is the bezel graphics. For my taste it is too blocky and busy. I find it distracting from the rest of the watch. I'd like to see it tightened up.
Nope. Early 2000s Bond / Peter Blake... bring those back, with the same dimensions... not a fan of modern sizes and prices.... for less than half price you can get something elegant, thin and handsome. You need to be silly, rich or both, to spend 6k or more on modern divers... i just don't get it... the only time id consider it would be if it genuinely was a "watch for life"... even then it's hard to imagine
Nothing beats the sword hand era of seamasters in my opinion, but these are nice additions. As everyone has already said, i wish they were smaller and slimmer
Really nice watch, especially the black with wave dial. I feel the aluminium bezel will scratch given its quite expansive, but it looks better then the bling gloss ceramic...answer Omega should consider producing a mat ceramic bezel a bit like what Tudor do on the Pelagos.
The gray one with the titanium dial is quite unique, but I think I'd rather have the Tudor Black Bay Monochrome over the black version here. I feel the Tudor bracelets are much more comfortable than Omega's mesh bracelets.
I’ve been critical of size on instagram. But I just tried it on. It’s lovely. It wears the same, but IMO it appears smaller visually due to the crystal/dial.
Its a real nice Seamaster, however I’m going to still pick the 300 as the definitive Seamaster. While it disappeared for many years its still the model with a great history and IS Omegas answer to a Submariner. Lots of things to like about this new Diver 300M but I still think Omega are missing a trick or two with it, some points would be to issue the proper old sword hands rather than the skeletonised ones, that would be more of a vintage nod, and perhaps a solid engraved caseback
Wearing my Great White GMT on a Staib Milanese Mesh bracelet, I am getting much of the same vibe with aluminium bezel insert but with the bonus of no helium escape valve.
Essentially the issue with this release is Omega is presenting less watch to the consumer and charging $600 more for it over the regular model. Omega should have made the watch 13.0mm thick like the NTTD and the same price as the regular model at $5,900 or at least only $100 more like the new white dial Speedy is to the Sapphire sandwich. For $600 more they should have maybe upgraded the movement, kept the ceramic bezel, DECREASED NOT increased the thickness (as they have proven possible through the NTTD), and/or have properly upgraded the existing Seamster 300 bracelet in some way like at least adding a micro-adjust system or tapering the bracelet more like the Speedmaster Pro. The Milanese bracelet is premium, but is still simpler and less-engineered and durable as the past Seamaster 300 bracelet. The Milanese bracelet and aluminum bezel is a cost reduction measure to increase Omega’s overall profit margins for the black dialed watch. The grade 5 titanium bezel is more expensive/premium, but the rest of the watch being stainless steel negates any of the lightness and hardness benefits of the titanium. This new release is like Rolex releasing the Tudor Black Bay 41 with the Rolex 3230 movement to be a one-for-one alternative to the date Submariner but then also charging $600 more for the Black Bay 41.
For me the best Seamaster is the first, the one from the Pierce Brosnan films. Until recently I didn't really like that watch, then thanks to a review I saw it in a different light, and now I bought it too. At a bargain price...
Bond 60th my favourite. The navy blue colour, the number 60, the lollipop seconds hand. The new black dial my second. Could they’ve changed it more? Yes, but I think they should just do it slowly like the iPhone.
Great there’s no date. But….. it’s too thick, that blooming escape valve just needs to go and a 40mm version in blue would be epic. They are slowly moving in the right direction for me. (I have a quarts black SMP so don’t hate the watch - would just like it to be different now)
Is new always better? Sure new materials and tech arguably makes the watch more advanced but in 15/20 years will it be a benchmark for future models. Jury’s out 😂
I love the black, however it would have been nice if they reduced it to 40mm . Do you think that will ever happen again? Maybe remove the helium escape valve. Thanks Adrian .
adding another comment: try to read at night in the dark after 3 hours the time from a Seamaster 300M Professional. For me this watch is a fail concerning this feature. But I love it. James Bond needs the spare Sub anyway :)
For those who complained about AquaTerra being more expensive than Diver 300M: Omega listened! Now 300M is more expensive than AquaTerra with the same movement on a bracelet. Checkmate!

Yes, at least the yachtmaster's bezel is platinum
The term fan boy is horrendous.
The nerds are asking for smaller, the buying public wants bigger. Follow the money Omega, the money is always right.
@@miabeatz80 do you know the height measurement is of the case only without the domed sapphire crystal?
@laurablockley1269 roughly 12.5
Maybe to plain .. but i like the offer. Always loved the old wave pattern😊
They should finally bring the design of Planet Ocean Deep Dive to the seamaster diver. No helium valve and the new steel alloy (O-megasteel ) are perfect for that line up. Other than that, I really like them both .
I have the electric blue ,its still a killer watch .I wont change, but new one looks great.
I need to know where you get your shirts from Arian, They are super smart! Great video as always!
Favorite Seamaster is the one I am wearing now…the Nekton. The original no-date, the original titanium bezel, with a matte finished dial.
Yeah and no skeleton hands
Nothing beats the sword hand era of seamasters in my opinion, but these are nice additions. As everyone has already said, i wish they were smaller and slimmer
Really nice watch, especially the black with wave dial. I feel the aluminium bezel will scratch given its quite expansive, but it looks better then the bling gloss ceramic...answer Omega should consider producing a mat ceramic bezel a bit like what Tudor do on the Pelagos.
Unrelated but like that overshirt you are wearing in this video. Where is it from? Thanks!
Hey bruh, I hope your stacking sats!
The gray one with the titanium dial is quite unique, but I think I'd rather have the Tudor Black Bay Monochrome over the black version here. I feel the Tudor bracelets are much more comfortable than Omega's mesh bracelets.
Because Omega didn’t have a big enough catalog yet! 😂
Thank you!
Nice overview you missed Rado Watch. Best regards Norbert
The hands kill that watch stone dead to me. Hideous things, ruin the watch.
I’ve been critical of size on instagram. But I just tried it on. It’s lovely. It wears the same, but IMO it appears smaller visually due to the crystal/dial.
It’s probably my favourite, closely followed by the 2254.50.
Prefere the 3rd gen Seamaster 300 m 212.30.41.20.03.001, love the NO waves dial.
I do love a nicely domed crystal.
the first seamaster that i think looks better than the sub. what do you think?
Geez you guys drag Rolex into EVERYTHING
(I have a quarts black SMP so don’t hate the watch - would just like it to be different now)
My favorite is the 2255.80. Slimmer and has a tapering bracelet.
The mesh on the new releases looks cheap.
Is new always better? Sure new materials and tech arguably makes the watch more advanced but in 15/20 years will it be a benchmark for future models. Jury’s out 😂
I feel this is Omega’s answer to the monochrome Tudor BB, but much better.
I love the black, however it would have been nice if they reduced it to 40mm . Do you think that will ever happen again? Maybe remove the helium escape valve. Thanks Adrian .
Wish they put a ceramic bezel on it and kept everything else the same. Love the better durability of no AR coating on the top of the crystal.
The Seamaster ref. 2254.50 is definitely my favorite.
adding another comment: try to read at night in the dark after 3 hours the time from a Seamaster 300M Professional.
Checkmate!
When will a new tapered bracelet arrive!
