I have a theory about how iOS 18 will be beneficial for those with a disability that makes them quadriplegic. For example, if someone is nonverbal and quadriplegic due to ALS and they have an iPhone 12 they can have their iPhone double up as an eye, gaze communication device because of the eye tracking technology, I’ve seen videos with people talking using an eye gaze communication device on my iPhone and it made me think about the next update and what it could do and when iOS 18 was announced about that eye, tracking, technology and stuff, it could help people that can’t really use an iPhone, and that are nonverbal because it can double up as an eye gaze communication device

For me, it's not so much android had it first. It's my friends and fam on iOS saying they have an iPhone cause all that customization is dumb and too complicated and then they celebrate when they get it... a few years later. Just cause it is not on iOS does not make it useless or gimicky.

As someone that uses both devices, this is pretty exciting for Apple. Many of these small changes make me happy. Hoping they finally fix the heat throttling issues. I still have heat spikes almost daily.
I have an iPhone and I completely agree with the android people because they are correct. Apple fan boys have set iphone back because Apple knows they will get excited over nearly anything. This update proves it. Oh wow now they give us the ability to move icons anywhere we want.

U can do better by using both simultaneously, that’s what most of us(that can afford it) do here in Africa, mixing the Latest iPhones with Samsung Fold or with another similarly sized smartphone, it does have it’s own steeze…
It's transfer via Windows or transfer via Itunes. Not a difficult choice i guess..

It’s hard to use just one I have to use android and iPhone. They both deliver an experience that either one of them cannot copy so to be able to use them. Both is a pleasure. I’m on team consumer whoever can make a better phone competition will help expedite that

I have 13PM s23 ultra and zfold5 my iphone is my throw away that if I lost I'd bemore okay about losing but my androids are my keep clean phones and do everything phones especially entertainment

I’ve swapped to droid but one of the biggest issues I have is apps force closing and getting missed call notifications days later. And texts taking days to come across. Was so aggravating

The keyboard was the biggest headache
Love how you can customize with good lock but te auto correction just flat out sucked. I had to find Gboard to make it better when it’s built in iOS

You can switch it in General>Settings>Beta Updates you'll turn that off or switch to public beta once official release is out

I feel tech lasts such a long time now you dont need to buy the newest tech out. I am using a iphone 12pro, pixel 7, ipad mini, apple watch, sony headphones they all work for me in a daily basis. Im thinking my next phone will be a foldable just dont know which one yet.

I'm on the android side and I'm just glad to see the iPhone getting these features
I did had an iPhone 14 pro until 2 weeks ago, but traded it in for a Google Pixel Fold (have a thing for Pixels myself); although the keynote was cool, I did not felt that I was missing out too much. I get to come back and forth between iOS and Android, having a preference with Android but appreciating the little things Apple does to make the OS behave "flawless" to some extent. I do not think I would switch back (at least not for now), but I do am happy for the iOS user that gets to experience how nice to tailor your device experience to their own liking. I'm glad that they get to enjoy these things as well and glad that Apple finally gave in for customization as well!
The Android piece is completely truth AND this still feels like the most monumental iOS update in a LONG TIME!!! I am really excited for it to drop.
I was running the beta iOS 18 and a lot of those functions other iPhone users can't see or use because they don't have iOS 18. It's going to be a cool little upgrade for Apple but I be honest with you most people that have Apple iPhones aren't even going to notice the difference because they are so use to being behind on new integrations with iOS..
Tbh apple users typically are very snobby and say their base iphone is better than all androids just cause of imessage and facetime.
Been on android since 2022 before that was on iphone since 2015.. i was an iphone snob lol this new update makes things interesting and encourages all phone companies to step their game up!

No I have s22ultra n I upgraded to s24ultra. I returned n rebought 6 times n every phone I got had terrible color my s22ultra screen is better. Also it kept dimming itself n over heating with adaptive brightness off. N it was buggy if I wanted to like a istagram reel on Facebook the like button would disappear on all 6 phones. The new update made the s24 ultra very buggy n I tried 6 phones they all had issues oh n the camera was terrible between 3 n 11x zoom the color would wash out again on all 6 phones so I returned everyone and went back to my s22ultra hoping s25ultra will be better but until then I'm debating switching to apple in September
So long story short I wish I had the s23ultra better then s24 keep ur phone trust me

You should watch the rest of the keynote because it may change you being 50/50. 80-90% of the AI is on device, not sent to an open AI server for responses, creating ultimate privacy. And in the 10-15% ish chance it need open AI, it ask you for permission every time do you wanna use CHATGPT. Let’s not forget it’s free too. It’s all FREE! The privacy and ease of chat GPT baked into the voice assistant is what make Apple Intelligence different. It’s all the best versions of AI in one system.

RCS is going to be the real game changer: They won't be a set of Android users who are peer pressured by their circle into using iphone just because sharing files get degraded. It will also for the same reason allow Apple users who are bored with Apple because lack of innovation. That S24 and the various flip phones are going to be real tempting now( especially if iPhone 16 is lack luster come September. Not to mention the budget friendly and still powerful Goggles phone. RCS now draws that line in the sand so the next few months should be interesting.....✌🏾

I never want another iPhone, that OS is so restricted & boring, android gives me way more freedom & means to fully enjoy my device, all my favorite apk downloads etc. The last iPhone I had I had to jailbreak it to really enjoy it, & even still it couldn't do alot of things Android could do. & all these rumors about Android being buggy & having viruses is nonsense. Never had any issues with my Android, not any year of me using android, foolish rumors. Safe & smooth OS, with freedom to have fun & fully enjoy your device, less restrictions than IOS.
I’m still considering waiting on the new Samsung flip 😩 I’ve had an iPhone for so long , I need a change.

The Note 10 Plus one by far one of my favorite Galaxy Note's ever....loved that phone!
I got bored of iPhone many times, got on android and I can never explain it, I go back within a few months. Just something about Apple phone being and staying smooth. Maybe that’s why I like the pixel phones, still more customisation option than Apple, but I realised these days I don’t even customise anymore.
Extreme customization is for teens with ADHD. Adults tend to it to worry about useless customization features.
Haha agreed. I was a big android lover. Had most of Google’s Nexus phones thru Pixel. Apple got me to stay with the smoothness, fluidity, and the whole ecosystem. Now I got it all with iOS18, even tho I’ve modded before. Win/Win.

When I was younger I wanted my phone to be “fun” and something I want to play with all the time. As I got older I stopped customizing and doing all the “fun” stuff. Then I got an iPhone 12 and haven’t went back. I don’t need my phone to be “fun” or exciting anymore.
Have you ever considered that customization might be for productivity and not for fun? Having icons close to your thumb is a no-brainer in big phones, for example. It's ridiculous it took apple this long to give in.
Honestly ,just glad that I got an iPhone 14 Pro Max and as android user ,hmm,if apple can implement using back gestures from both side ,not only from the left side ,I m done with android,I don’t care about split shit or more about customization , the only thing that can make me to consider android is if the system is as polished as iOS , but right now , I don’t think so ,because ,developers always prioritize iOS more than android and that’s very sad ,google got a lot of work 😢😢😢

@kelvinmulder3985 you literally have both phones, your pixel has every customisation feature your iphone has ,amd more , and more usefull ones like the way you Don't have to get out of an app to change its settings.. the camera app for example and all system apps on iphones in order to change their settings u gotta go to the settings app.. amd then back to thr camera app.
Another example is the material you theming you know with the colors , where u can set similar colors for the app icons and wallpaper, these colors are also used in apps that support the material you thing.. these are apps like google translate, Gmail, playstore, and ui elements like Google keyboard, quick settings. But apple only apply the colors in wallpaper and app icons. On android you can use whole launchers ... and entirely change your homescreen and app drawer , you can find app icon packs and set then with a click of a button while on iphone u gotta design yourself every singe app icons wich takes a horrendous amount of time.
Pixels are the most restricted androids when it comes to customisation but still more customisable than iphones. U have both phones man just take some time and get through all settings of both phones.
