By far the best! For years I've made Jaques Torres infamous cc cookies and swore by that recipe. After starring my own sourdough starter and making all of your other recipes I decided to give this recipe a shot but didn't think it would match up with the original recipe I followed. Boy was I wrong, these are by far the best! Superior in taste and texture along with being way easier and less fussy of a recipe than the one I originally used. Thank you so much for this delicious recipe!

I wasn't sure about sourdough cookies until I saw you put the salt on top. I did these for my DIL who is a chocolate cookie fanatic for her birthday and she literally had shivers. The only change I made is mixing a little sea salt with a little espresso powder and a very light amount of cayenne. BTW, I love your website.

Im a sourdough lover and this is the first time I use sourdough to make cookies, I used it before on pancakes and it also takes it to another level. Thanks for sharing this recipe, so good! I did cut the sugar to 1-3/4 cups (personal preference as my husband and me don't like them too sweet) but it was still a bit sweeter that how we like it though, but as I said it's just our personal preference. Great recipe.

Lots of things you can do with sourdough discard, I started making pans of baked oatmeal with a generous helping of starter discard and some browned up apple/brownsugar/cinnamon, comes out pretty yummy.
Made this last night and mixed up a batch with white chocolate and peppermint candy (crushed). Will be interesting to see if the peppermint slows or stops the fermentation. If not, here’s to more awesomeness! 🥂🥂🥂
I made these yesterday. Double batch and they are almost gone. I didn't find them chewy, but they are delicious! Much better than my Toll House go to. *I also used a mixture of semi sweet and espresso chips.

My family loves these cookies...... If I am going to freeze them, do you first allow them to sit in the frig to "proof", then freeze, or straight to the freezer after mixing/forming?
Tried the recipe last night and bake it today. The cookies turns out to be too cakey and they rise instead of spreading out. I dont know if this is because I use Rye and whole-wheat starter or because of the baking powder. Ill try this recipe again without baking power. Thank you Amy.

Just in case someone sees this and is looking for a dairy free and gluten-free option of this, I just use basic bobs Redmill one to one flower and butter flavored Crisco instead of butter. The flavor is amazing, but they did not flat out and become chewy probably because of the lack of butter and gluten. Next time I will flatten the cookie balls and also not use baking soda or baking powder and let the sourdough do its thing. These are probably the best dairy free and gluten-free cookies I’ve ever had!
Did you ever make these without butter? I'm looking for dairy free options. I have dairy free chocolate chips, but unsure about whether to use margarine or ghee. . . which wouldn't have the milk fat in them...

Is there a reason why you don't refrigerate the whole lump of dough and scoop to bake vs scoop to size and refrigerate? The frige real estate in our homestead is like NYC living...tight...and so...have you tried frige'ing the whole lump?

It's a really good recipe. It turned out good. However a little too sweet fir me. If you are like me i recommend to cut the sugar to 50 grams each type of sugar. I dis 100 g of brown sugar and 50 g graduated suagr but that was still too sweet. Other than that it's perfect
