I’m a Jew and Israeli and I live in Denmark too and it has been really difficult since October 7. Way different than before the war started. Me, my family and our other Israeli friends are afraid to show our Jewish let alone Israeli identity in public. We unfortunately avoid areas with high Arab population out of fear, not out of hatred. When we walk on the street we speak Hebrew less loudly to not draw attention and at least for me, I constantly feel judged. It’s really concerning. My mother wanted to do a tattoo on her finger of the Star of David and it quickly led to an argument between my parents because naturally it increases the risk of being harassed and god forbidden attacked. It just made me feel like history is sort of repeating itself and it’s suddenly 1930 in Europe again. I got asked once if I’m from Israel by my new doctor and I simply so felt scared and ashamed to say I’m from there out of fear. I know Israeli kids who just moved to Denmark because of the war, their classmates and other kids in school keep shouting free Palestine at them and doing the nazi salute. Recently, last week there was pesach/passover which is a holiday Jews celebrate liberation and freedom. My mother booked places for our entire family to go to the big Seder in chabad house with bunch of other Israelis and Jews. In the end we had to cancel our reservation because there was warnings of terror attacks happening there. But before we decided on not going my mother sat me and my brother down in the dining table and began giving us instructions on what to do in case there was suddenly shooting. It is just absurd to think about it, I never thought I’ll be in a situation where my mother is telling me where to sit, an escape route and what to do so I could protect myself. It is small incidents, I’m aware they’re not as huge compared to others but it feels so bad when your pain and struggles are completely overlooked by everyone. It feels terrible and it feels like nobody cares. My life has definitely changed a lot since October 7, I now live with more fear, shame, embarrassment, and other emotions I don’t know how to describe than before and I’m more cautious with about my identity. It’s sad it came to that, I’ve been living in Denmark for almost a decade. But it does help to hear that some danish people do support Israel, or at least Jews. I’m sorry for venting to you about my problems but I finally felt like this comment section and your comment is a safe place to share the struggles I’ve been bottling up for some quite time, here in Denmark after seeing so much hatred for Israel and antisemitism all over the internet. Thank you for your comment and if you spend your time reading what I wrote, you should know that it actually means a lot❤🇩🇰

@@user-vt5iv5my6t Yes, both mom and dad are Bosnian muslims. And honestly there are plenty of Bosniaks that are sympathizing with Israel, they may not be vocal about it though. More like a silent minority, and not an insignificant minority. It may be a cultural thing, both people were/are a "minority" in an Christian world, both secularized and culturally European. What I notice is an huge surge in antisemitism, nauseating and vile. They were cheering for Iran until like a few days ago when an Iran ambassador in Serbia said that Srebrenica wasn't a genocide, but a massacre. Now there like "I hope Israel bombs them" LOL.
I stand with my beliefs firmly, and have done so since 14 yrs old when I watched the news and was like "but....but they have to defend themselves" to me it was clear. And I got a bit of rough words for that, but have been unchanged since, especially since I've been reading about your regions 1900's history. I changed my profile picture on fb Oct 7th and put an Israeli flag, I don't care what people, family, friends say, I got a few messages, but it's no point in explaining, the rest i don't mind reading.
Btw, plenty of Bosnians are identifying with being Bosnian, it most depends on the individual person. Doesn't affect their "croathood or serbianess" anyway. Some do, some don't.

@@user-vt5iv5my6t Jews had an interesting history in Bosnia. They came as refugees from Spain 1467 something. And were well received, the following centuries they shaped Bosnian urban culture, for example the Sevdalinka genre. Before the Holocaust a third of Sarajevans were Jewish. During Austro-Hungary many skilled Ashkenazis settled and formed their communities and synagogues. Even in my small town in eastern Bosnia there were ca 500 jews. Most were killed during the Ustasha, from my town they took them to Belgrade where they killed them. Only a handfull of Jews survived, those who were in the Partisan resistance. Emerik Blum was a genius who established the Energoinvest conglomerate which was a huge international company building everything in the field of electrification. The few jews that lived in Sarajevo before 92 went abroad, I know some were evacuated to Israel with Israeli aircraft. I really wonder how their life is in israel today, i can't find any info about them. Btw also David Elazar was born in Sarajevo and made aliyah sometime before or after ww2. He was Golda Mejr's left hand and one of the masterminds in defending the Israeli souvereignty during the 6 day war if I remember it right. Fascinating history and people. I feel ashamed i havent visited Israel yet, but I wish to do it. id like to drive from northern Israel all the way to Eilat. What a journey that would be.

I have watched Eurovision every year since my country started to sing there. Some year I like it more, some less, but still -it is a part of the "year". Jews are significant in many aspects, they have very interesting spirit and culture, they always sing and dance even at the worse times. But jews are also like a magnet to criminal mind. I hope police will take this exam with dignity. And music wins ❤

I didn’t realize how radical parts of the city are 😢. I’m truly worried about Israel’s rep (Eden Golan) and the entire delegation’s safety. It’s very sad. I’m even considering not watching at all this year, especially after seeing this news piece. Stay safe and stay strong Israel. Am Yisrael Chai!!

My brother's wife has Swedish relatives that made alliya to Israel. They got the hell out of Malmo several years ago. This has been going on a long time there. Jews have lived there for 1000 years and now feel unsafe all because of islamic invasion. If Europe as a whole doesn't wake up they are doomed. Same for Canada, same for USA. They need to arrest these pro hamas protesters and immediately deport the ones that are only visa holders. Anyone born in these countries that can't be deported should be jailed for treason as they are aiding terrorists that want to destroy ALL the west. Our politicians need to admit they made a huge error and FIX it.

This problem is made worse when the media keeps quoting the official casualty rate in Gaza, which is misleading and unreliable. UK Lawyers For Israel have pointed out that "these figures have been fabricated. These statistics are produced by the Hamas controlled Ministry of Health, and then circulated by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) as well as other UN bodies. The Palestinian statistics are also deployed in a way that implies wrongly that all the Palestinians killed were civilians, as there is no reference to the number of Palestinian combatants killed. The ratio of civilians to combatants killed is particularly relevant when assessing the proportionality of Israeli military actions and hence whether they are likely to have violated international humanitarian law.”
Jonathan Turner, chief executive of UKLFI commented: “Credence given to these allegations is fuelling antisemitism on a major scale and is also liable to lead to incorrect decisions by public authorities on important issues.”
The Israel Defence Forces estimated that 13,000 Palestinian combatants had been killed by the end of February 2024. This indicates a ratio of civilian to combatant deaths of less than 1.5:1, even if the apparently fabricated total figures produced by the Gaza Health Ministry are used. This ratio is much lower than the usual ratio of civilian to combatant casualties in urban warfare, as indicated by a Report by the UN Secretary General which found that in urban armed conflicts worldwide in 2021, 89% of the casualties were civilians.
Other articles which prove that these statistics are false include:
"How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers” by Prof Abraham Wyner
"Statistically Impossible: A Critical Analysis of Hamas’s Women and Children Casualty Figures” by Profs Tom Simpson, Lewi Stone and Gregory Rose
"Gaza Fatality Data Has Become Completely Unreliable” by Gabriel Epstein from The Washington Institute
“The numbers of dead in Gaza don’t add up - and there is no easy explanation” by Mark Zlochin in The Telegraph
“Close review of Gaza casualty figures reported by UNOCHA based on daily Hamas ‘Ministry of Health’ numbers proves they are falsified” by Salo Aizenberg
