@DarksideRacingCrew The housing is a t5 housing, but the gears inside are from GForce Transmissions. So yes, if your mustang uses a t5 transmission you could do this upgrade, but I think GForce stop making their t5 dogring straightcut gearset.
@buckethead151 any trans with straight cut gears make that gear noise, most street transmissions are helical cut (gears are curved, not straight) so that they do not make as much noise, but for race cars that does not matter :-) and straight cut gears are stronger
dude, ive been a fan of yours since your old myrx7 website, this thing is screaming, got me into rotary sports =) I have a few questions about your transmission set up. What is your gear ratios? and it seems you go clutchless till you hit 5th gear, why is that? RPMs dont match up? and it seemed like you double clutched a few times while downshifting, did you feel the synchros werent together, or did you take too long and needed to rev match again?
Looking at what box to put in my build want to go manual as going for a nascar themed car but want a extra gear (5) for motorway driving and just when cruising without engine over revving. What sort of power and torque you putting through this as read only Handle about 300 torque? Also what price would I be looking at to build one up like this as working out what's cheaper built t5 or a tko600 as will be putting behind a 351w turbo motor. Cheers Phil
Working on a V8 swap for my S10. Picked up a t5 WC, thinking about putting straight cut gears in so it can handle the full torque of the Chevy 350 engine. Any idea where to look for straight cut gears? Want to keep synchro setup, more of a cruiser car
PPG make them for the Australian Holden commodore and Ford Falcon. The Falcon version might work as they have short input shafts similar to the US T5 variants. The Holden version would be too long (12" input shaft). I have the Holden and plan to get one of their synro straight cut sets.
What room are you shifting at if you don't mind me asking. And what internals are you using on this T5? I am also looking for a transmission solution for my 13b
Hi Drake, the gears inside are from GForce Transmissions (dog ring gearset for the t5 housing, not sure if they still make it). I was shifting a bit early most the time in this video as it was first time testing the transmission at high speed, 7.5k to 8.5k RPMs.
who makes the bell housing/plate for the t5 to fd3s ?what clutch disk mustang? and presure plate?trying to run this set up for 13b rew powerwed miata . thanks .

Awesome car. In the setup you are running here is it a GT35 turbo? also, what is that little red light to the left of your boost gauge that comes on sometimes? Can't wait to see the 20b turbo in that car.
Has been great so far, but the car has been down the last few years while i do the 20B build, I will let you know after I get the 20B engine up and running ;-)
@@taikuriluttinen33 hey, are you saying you're running a standard t5 with 500+hp? If so is it handling that power or are you babying it? I'm doing a yb in a mk1 escort and was thinking of doing the gforce street gear set if the standard t5 can't handle it.
@@andop82 Yes. 5 long years +500hp and no problem. I only use orgnic cluch discs and ofc you cant cluch bomb T5 with +500hp.. I also did tko600 faceplate swap to my cossie. Now its bulletproof!
Holy shit this is what heaven sounds like?????My God, it's perfect. Good luck, glad to see and hear another rotary still going!

you could ask no more from a driving transmission,,, amazing,, wat a fun day you had

@twinvisionracing I know its six months but according to their website they still make them
i posted a lot of this info in my build thread for it on the rx7 forum
jerico.com has good dog boxes for road racing. you can down shift ther rev 4 boxes without clutching.

Is that whining noise the transmission? Mine totally does that and the guy that had the mustang before me said it was built.

twinvisionracing thanks for the reply I emailed g force to see it they still make that option.

seems like the spark is going off beetween changing gears ? you have a special gearlever ?

Shifter light :-)
the sound of the g force is norma?
yes, that is my 3rd gen race car :-)
Nice video.
omg sounds amazing 3rd gen rx-7?
where can i get that same gearbox to buy,do you have the web site or ph number, that would be a great help thanks very much.
How did the T5 hold up?
Captainpegs07 lol i was wondering the same thing

How much gear set cost? How much nm and hp it can handle? Got sierra cosworth with stock t5. 548hp/673nm.
