I'm an artist who likes to do art on different cultures' beliefs and noticed a lot of similarities between Martins's world and the Celtics' mythology and other folklore & mythology. I liked how you broke this down in Comparison to The Morrigan I was telling my grandmother how she and the red lady in Game Thrones are based on her in some stories she wears all red and is a redhead. Great Video and research. I like that you add book stuff and breakdown scenes from the first season too.
Thank you so much, I love Celtic mythology and Arthurian lore, I'm glad you appreciate it! I love exploring old mythology and connecting it to modern media and storytelling.
I'm most interested in dawn era, was that based on Chinese culture some but like more people were blondes, I could be wrong but I could be thinking on diff vids. Anyway I also can't unsee alys and Ramsey Bolton looking similar but unless it says they are related then actors just look similar whatever. And I wanna know who night king is now because daemon and aemond fights and because there's old Targaryen and valerians in westeros
The actress portraying Alys Rivers delivers an outstanding performance, skillfully embodying the character with depth and nuance. Her ability to match Matt Smith’s on-screen presence is particularly impressive, showcasing her talent and elevating their scenes together. Her portrayal of the mysterious, magical, and eerie witch is captivating, making her a breakout star and a standout in the series.
🎉👏👏👏This video is going to blow up when season 2 hits and it's well deserved! I listen to a lot of videos about asoiaf but rarely do I stop and watch from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the dune interludes 10/10
Morgan Le Fey is most likely a later Norman/French christian reinterpretation of The Morrigan.(Morgana, Morgause & Mordred.) Just as the Holy Grail myth had origins in Celtic tales of Magic Cauldrons. There is a lot of Arthurian & Celtic Lore in this show for sure. 👍 I keep waiting for the representation of water to show up (I guess that could be ice?) since Earth magic & Fire magic are so strongly indicated.
Honestly in a Merlin show morgause and morgana are sisters, that's also in Celtic mythology but umm from a got or house of dragon standpoint I thought books were way more Eldritch horror because dragons, apocalypse walkers and euron end of it
I love the multi-layered comparison between Morgan and Alys! Really good video. This is probably the part of HotD I'm most excited for honestly. Also, i wish Lyonel Strong had been ambitious enough to suggest that Harwyn marry Rhaenyra.. Aside from avoiding the whole illegitimacy thing, a wedding on the Isle of Faces is honestly just cool to imagine 😪 A happier timeline !
If only... GRRM said he could have written a novella for Harwin & Rhaenyra, and I would do terrible things just to read it! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the Morgan parallels! Can't wait to see Alys!
@FeyFire Oh I forgot that he said that! Same, I'm so intrigued to know what things he's referring to.. They had far too few scenes together in the show 😔
I just came from David's livestream, and I'm glad I did ! I really enjoyed this video. I was trying to find what character was Alys inspired by for some time, and you actually did it. Btw the movie "The Northman" also has some similarities to this story, if you're interested
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I really liked The Northman when I watched it a while back, but I def think I need a refresher! I loved the witchy stuff in there. 🍏
I really like your ideas but I was distracted by the meme video snippets (like the strange milk videos, not the Green Knight, etc.). I ended up not watching most of the video because of this distraction, but I enjoyed listening except where the memes had audio.
New viewer here. LOVED your content. Great parallels to the Arthurian legends. I definitely caught that Morgan Le Fey vibe from Alyce. Like your video snips from other movies. Will check back for more. Well done !
oh man the payoff of finally seeing this "famous historian" joke, I'm dead. great video, what I'm taking away is Alys is Morgan but living in an evil castle on the shore of the lake instead of on the sacred island in the lake. hmm
@@DavidLightbringer yes definitely a mash up of Arthurian tales-- I'm seeing more and more now that we've seen Harrenhal. The Green Man chair, the round table, definitely Fisher King vibes. Alys is most certainly a guardian of the Isle, the Lady of the Lake in title. The High Green Priestess.
This was beautiful.. I have a question, why murder the Strong men if they are heavy in the “green men sensitive lore?… is it Alice who has blood of both so she’s basically pinnacle of both powers? I’m also wondering if her reproductive abilities get their kick from her Strong blood, but if/when she creates her army if they’re not illusions of some kind might their “donation “ be inferior just being reg dudes… or is it she got the men to fight but didn’t really bear real children maybe shadow babies- if that’s within her capabilities… again ❤❤this and think about it all😊
it makes no sense that harwin strong would be removed from the city watch for fighting with cole.... But Cole has random violent outbursts where he kills 2 innocent people, and they promote him.
They say stone and water takes in all the energy good and Eeeeeeevil energy! Thats a theory in the real world about the stone and water. Anyway just a thought. OneLove
So was Harrenhal empty for almost 2 decades or was Alys Queen there that long so the crown told the maesters not to write about it? Is that why we don't know?
@@FeyFire Most excited for her in the show now we seen blood and cheese! I need to know haha. I bet it was a tricksy maester cover up otherwise we gona get an epic book when it drops!
This is really well done but wait. You think azora high is denarys? The day of her birth isn’t brought up in the books. There’s no tragity. She doesn’t fit the bill.
I'll say it since I can't find a similar opinion. Would be great if Daemon ended up being the Night king... hear me out, how poetic would it be that a Targaryan so close to the line meant to stop the next long night. LOL he'll yeah
Yes! I also wondered if its daemons baby! They also have so much chemistry. She seems to be working to help daemon, it makes you wonder about her and Aemonds relationship. Although when you think about it, she sends Aemond to his death. Shes implied to have this foresight and sends Aemond to Daemon anyway.
Put me down for a subscription. You are relevant, very well informed and you don’t use some phony AI voice over that mispronounces important names and places. This is good content.
Not bad, but hear me out. Rhaena who chose Harrenhall as her last castle, was known to do some blood magic of her own(I honestly think she killed Maegor with a shadow baby) and she hates and blames her family for all of her losses. I'm putting it out there, she either is Alys or is her mother and she has given her daughter the urge to have house targaryen crumble under their own weight, while delivering the only true heir as she and her daughter Aerea once were
Oh wow... I like this a lot. I agree, I've always believed that Tyanna and Rhaena were up to some shadow baby magic on Maegor... but this is next level. I love it.
Omg this video gave me goosebumps
Back after we finally got Alys in ep 3!! Loved all of the Harrenhal scenes!
