Maybe I should have put more emphasis on the fact that I don't think that every member of the Genius Society is an evil lunatic willing to set the world on fire for the sake of their research. I tried too much to be funny and poke fun at the Genius Society, and it seems like that backfired a bit on me. When I said 'selfish' in the video, I meant someone who wants to pursue the ultimate/purest form of knowledge for themselves. While it's true that this kind of pursuit tends to attract mostly people of questionable morality, I don't want to discredit the fact that there are people like Aiden - who was known for his kindness and helped a lot of people.
I think the difference between Ratio and the Genius Society is simple. He has no desire to search and plumb the unknown. He seeks to spread knowledge. The Genius Society seeks out new knowledge, the unknowns. If I had to compare, Ratio desires to raise the “floor” while Genius Society desires to raise the “Ceiling” of whatever they research.
While most members are definitely selfish uncaring people Among the Genius Society #22 Aiden was described as the most selfless in the society as contrary to most members he actually shared the things he did and was I think the reason why the society became known at all. He was so selfless that Herta found him weird
we know very little about him but he still attracted nous´s gaze. This probably means that he was kind enough to share the info, but was still willing to sacrifice others to get it. Plus being the most selfless in a group full of sociopaths isn't the grandest of titles.
He could be so selfless that he might share information to a terrorist on how to make bombs or something Sharing knowledge is good but giving it someone without considering aftermath can be dangerous
Disregard for human life society, the selfish society, the criminal society, the overrated society, the lunatic society. Damn you really cookked them lol
like you said, i would rather deal with someone like Ratio than someone like Herta or Ruan Mei. sure he is an arrogant prick and will make me wanna cry, but he will probably want the best for me and see me improve and learn. Herta literally only sees mfs as test subjects lmao but the reason i like her more than Ruan Mei is because she is honest about it. i mean she said it herself at the start of game. Ruan Mei is a very deceptive person who wears a mask constantly. the only time we see the true Ruan Mei so far in the game is when she was raving about her experiments in that recording. and she sounded like a true mad scientist there not the chill caring woman she portrays herself to be.
There's a nice contrast between Ruan Mei and Dr. Ratio. One acts and looks nice but is really apathetic deep inside while the other one seems harsh and uncaring but actually cares and wants the best for you.
Dont think so tbh... The best they will get is just joining the intelligence guild All the discoveries made in Genshin are not very big and are limited to that planet alone Unlike the genius society whose discoveries are famous throughout the universe...
@@neoz1493 Mobius research is the one that might get Nous' attention. Her research on life will rival Ruan Mei if she was not constraint by fighting the Finality on Earth. Her idea of life or redefining "humanity" to become something abstract like the followers of the Garden of Recollection is indeed noteworthy and definitely batshit insane but it worked. She, Dr. Mei and Vill-V were able to somehow decipher on how the Honkai (Finality) works. Between those 3, Mobius and Vill-V at full 100% brain capacity (we have never seen her use all her brainpower instead just the biggest partition of her brain evil Vill-V) has a shot of being a Genius Society members. Dr. Mei is still caring enough to people.
@@neoz1493 honestly the only noteworthy one here is Mobipus. That girl literally made it so she's in itself immortal. Everytime she dies, she simply comes back as a younger version of herself with the exact same intelligence. She definitely rivals Ruan Mei with her research as well.
@@neoz1493 Mobius uttered an entire sentence the moment she was born and was very aware of her surroundings. Also, you call Dottore and Rheindottr not geniuses because because they haven't invented things that can influence an entire galaxy it's a bit too entitled. People are calling Leonardo da Vinci one of the greatest, if not the greatest geniuses we ever had, yet he hasn't invented the internet and toilet paper. However, his concepts led to the invention of things like the diving outfit, military armored vehicles, air vehicles, and many discoveries in medicine. The fact that people from the past did not have the resources and knowledge to invent something incredible like the microwave does not make them stupid or any less geniuses. In fact, people from the modern world may be stupider than people in the past.
I prefer tough love over fake love so my brother in philosophy Dr. Ratio. Hardworking, profesional, and altruistic. Honestly, I'm happy we got him free, I wanted him more than Ruan Mei, meta be damn.
I love the analysis of Dr Ratio’s character! I can appreciate that he’s not a Genius, which I’m thankful for because Ruan Mei really unnerved me. I didn’t think too hard about Screwllum’s lack of action since it felt like he’d not be an active part until you pointed out what makes them a Genius. Dr Ratio’s part in the story really felt like the Tuxedo Mask and “My job here is done” but he actually did nothing meme though…
I really liked what they did to describe Nous in this story quest. HSR has been using these to hammer the point that Aeons are a rigid embodiment of a certain aspect of society. While the Erudition sounds like a noble path, we have seen the Geniuses fully dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge even at the expense of those around them. This behavior is similar to that of the Abundance, which sounds beneficial on paper but has led to the curse of Mara in long-life species. Comparing the Genius Society to Dr. Ratio highlights what makes Nous the Erudition and his followers imperfect. I think all Aeons and their devout followers suffer from some sort of inherent flaw, but this makes groups like the Stellaron Hunters very interesting since they do not associate with any Aeon in particular (although you could say they directly oppose the IPC, which is a representative of the Preservation).
The Stellaron Hunters don't oppose the IPC, the IPC opposes them. Very big difference. Elio has no personal issue with the IPC and their governance, it just so happens that the IPC has issues with what is effectively a terrorist group filled to the brim with walking superweapons.
@@chronicallygagai think the case with screwllum is that he will not show care so long as he thinks it's not needed. Say that a house is on fire. Assume for a second that your room will not go on fire no matter what according to his calculations, he will not bother wven going in to get you out
Fair enough, although what Herta herself wrote about how people get into the Genius Society adds some extra context: After attracting Nous's gaze, three basic response patterns follow. The people who view this as affirmation of their accomplishments and thus the conclusion of the quest for knowledge may be fairly justified in this belief - but obviously fail. The people who view this as evidence they're on the right path and redouble on devoting the remainder of their existence to research also fail and for the same basic reason regardless of their motivation or the effect of their deeds on society and the universe. (This tends to weed out a lot of the most driven people, which does happen to include many we'd consider benevolent.) The people who pass are those for whom that glance causes the epiphany that their own accomplishments are utterly meaningless from the perspective of the Erudition, because everything they could ever discover was to Nous too obvious to even be worth thinking - much as Asta explains that for the researchers at the Herta Station, a scrap piece of paper littered by Herta is a priceless if incomprehensible treasure because by the point of bothering to jot down a quick note she'll already have thought past decades' worth of their own research. Thus the quote (which I may be butchering): "The Erudition does not have the answers. But it will teach you to ask the right questions." So while members of the Genius Society are not automatically selfish, their own research IS because they realize its true purpose is just to express themselves. From this perspective, believing that you can even recognize "the greater good" equates to megalomania: Aiden was genuinely a kind man but did not express that kindness in the certain belief he was really helping others. For all of Herta's arrogance, it comes from first having to confront her limitations and lack of perspective with a brutal clarity that she then sees no reason not to impose on others. You don't have to be insane to get in, but you do have to be willing to admit that you cannot be sure what sanity really is and simply hope you're right. Between that and the fact that people truly, deeply, driven towards a goal and who can't confront that it only matters for them aren't going to make it into the Genius Society...
When I think about it, Dr. MEI is kind of the mix between Dr. Ratio and Ruan Mei. She is a genius who cares about Humanity but sometimes made a morally questionable decisions
@@Duong-dc6cm Ironically, she STILL a better person than Ruan. At least she honestly loved her Kiana. Ruan Mei is literally incapable of love or empathy.
@@AndrCPC you wont be saying that about ggz dr mei LOL as a context: ggz dr. mei is the absolute opposite of ruan mei, being obsessed with love to the point of committing universal warcrimes. mass genocide, turning her girlfriend into an AI to turn back time (this feels like angela from ruina/lobotomy) and put her girlfriend in the future to always love her, and also to put another 2 people to always love each other and also suffer because one of them always dies, turning the other into a madman. thats all that i can list off on the top of my head.
Screwllum is maybe arguably the most compassioante of the 3 Genius Members we met so far. I am, of course, referring to a side quest in Penacony where he calls out a researcher from 2 Amber Eras ago that was also in the Genius Society that created a nuclear bomb that scaled either solar system or multi-galaxy wide.
I already liked these two characters but I didn't realize that the quest was set up in a way to showcase how they were opposites of each other. Mihoyo has never shied away from writing morally gray characters and so far they have done a good job with it.
One thing that people forget about Screwllum is that he’s a robotic *politician.* He’s seen as the nicest of the Geniuses you’ve currently met… But people saying that have already been charmed by him. I like him too, but a really smart politician knows how to sway public opinion through knowing exactly how to come across as likable to others. I don’t really trust him 100% because of this fact and how there’s already subtle hints of him not really taking other researchers into consideration
Sadly, the kinds of Herta are actually more favorable in the eyes of Nous. Aeons don't care about humans, they don't have a sense of morality and they only follow the path they govern. Genius society is the perfect embodiment of Nous. Maybe that's why Herta is the emanator of Erudition in the first place.
Im loving these morally grey characters recently in HSR, it makes the character more complex and add more depth to them. Ultimately though, i pull characters for their design just because they look attractive to me. Cant wait for Sam.
Great video! The members of the Genius Society are some of my favorite characters in HSR, and I loved how this story quest highlighted their selfishness. Dr. Ratio definitely turned out to be less annoying than I expected him to be, and I like how his extreme personality is used to better contrast how blatantly uncaring the Genius Society can be despite how beloved they are. I still love Ruan Mei tho, I'd let her drug me again.
I wonder if Otto and Mobius would be welcomed as fellow members of the crazy people of the society. I think Mobius' research on immortality is a pretty huge deal, as with Otto's obsession with revival. I feel like if the aeon of erudition heard and supported Otto, he would've been able to do more.
Personally I don't think Otto has Genius potential He's not like Mobius who's very very into her craft, Otto sees everything he's doing as a step to his goal A good analogy I would be Otto will pray to god if it has a guaranteed chance of success, Mobius wont and will keep trying to solve it her aay
Always enjoy your videos Homu, this was a great one, love your take on comparing Ratio to the Genius Society, got me thinking a lot which I wanted to share... it’s a lot haha (I really find the Society interesting), but for a TLDR just read the next two paragraphs only :) I agree that Ratio, despite his clearly great intellect, will not be part of the Society, due to the requirement to be “selfish”… although I think it’s more like “single-minded/ruthless pursuit of knowledge/research” as I don’t think an individual’s morality is actually a factor. Using other Society members as examples, Sserkal (the spider that only lived for 29 days) was described as “smart, kindhearted and humble” and Screwllum was the one who led a resistance against Rubert and won peace for mechanical lifeforms. However I think what is different is that Ratio uses his intellect and knowledge to pursue a noble intention of “curing ignorance” where actually advancing research is not the primary goal… whereas Sserkal and Screwllum ultimately pursued knowledge for the sake of advancing research, regardless of their moral compass. As you pointed out Screwllum didn’t stop the crisis during the story quest, but I see that as confirmation of him ironically prioritising knowledge over lives, although that may not necessarily him being “evil”. I theorise this is a consequence of him single-mindedly pursuing an understanding of organic lifeforms as his knowledge… as other aspects suggests he still has an otherwise “good” moral compass e.g. his resistance against Rubert as well as people (like even Herta of all people) generally describes him as a good person… but whether if it’s an act he puts on to hide a more dark side (say for instance, something he has to do because of the IPC’s remaining fear of inorganic lifeforms) remains to be seen. I think people tend to describe the geniuses as actively malicious or evil because of Herta and Ruan Mei, when I would describe them as more indifferent than anything. While what Ruan Mei did was undeniably manipulative and bad, the story hints at signs of compassion or regret in her actions (her saying “even the briefest of life should have meaning”, admitting her creations “sometimes move [her]”, acknowledging her behaviour is due to trust issues, hints of compassion in the ending cutscene, etc.). In fact, she sometimes comes across more oblivious of how bad or offensive her actions can come across, rather than actively be malicious (being at a loss of how to treat her creations, admitting not being sure how to interact with people, etc). Even people being bewitched by her “elegant personality” seems more of a consequence of her genuine hobby in those aspects (cooking, music, embroidery etc.) rather than some master plan to learn all that just for the sake of manipulating (they don’t really have anything to do with her research, her brief happy expression when she plays her lute in her overworld attack animation before instantly switching to her indifferent expression, etc.). Even if she knows how she can influence people’s behaviour with that charm, at least to me it feels more like she views it like how an person influences the behaviour of their pet (her saying “children will become more well-behaved when they receive random rewards”). But while I wouldn’t be surprised if future stories may develop her in a way that she is genuinely more compassionate, I would still expect her to ultimately still prioritise advancing knowledge, therefore still be pretty “selfish”… not unless they want her to be an example of someone who eventually leaves the Society or something. Herta in comparison seems to be someone who actually does understand general social etiquette and morality, but chooses not to care or engage in it if it’s not for something she’s interested in. Compare her genuine excitement when meeting geniuses (describing Screwllum as a good person, patience with Ruan Mei despite her being largely absent and Stephen despite his social anxiety, wanting to meet Polka Kakamond despite her questionable morals)… with the general indifference with everyone else (she still seems to understand the value in making niceties e.g. greetings, writing books, working with IPC etc. but generally doesn’t bother as she finds them annoying). Heck, even Rubert from a certain point of view could be argued to have a noble intention of “liberation once and for all for the machines shackled by their digital duty” even though I would describe Rubert as evil. Basically in sum, the requirement to be a Society member seems to more be about the dedication to pursing knowledge for its own sake, rather than to be conditional on morality.
Its kinda sad for asta because even if she tried her hardest to accomodate the station's needs and protection, these mindless idolizers will still hate on her. Such were shown on the Group chats that slander her.
There is one exception. While most genius socuety prefer solitary. There is one outlier we had which is Elias Salas. He seems to be painted in better light but mostly ignored by other genius even grouped as intelegensia guild while he is proper genius society member. But who knows perhaps he had skeleton in his closet and one of member herta hinting at prolog. The one who will milk you dry and tricked you to thanking them.
I enjoyed the lore exploration and the dragging of the Self-Absorbed Society. Dr. Ratio is an incredibly compelling character, and I love that he stands sort of counterpoint to their morals. It makes sense that he's on the Path of the Hunt, which values "determination, ruthlessness, and tenacious behavior". Though, interestingly, his ruthlessness never seems to go far enough to involve causing true or lasting harm to others. I really appreciate his characterization!
Ironically, you put Aiden's picture with other sociopaths even though it is due to his selfless work on advancement of technologies lead to idolization of Genius' Society and not view of Nous' personal club of psychos for what it is. And it brings me to one issue with your theory. While generally, I agree with you - I think that not all as clear as "Nous only like immoral, selfish researchers who never share findings and do anything for science." Aiden and Stephen are described as nice, kind, humble and helpful people-who (in AIden's case) were willing to share their tech. And Stephen doesn't even have much interest in pursuing any independent research. I think that situation is similar to Annilation Gang. Nous sees people like Ratio, Otto, Dr. MEI as impure in their purse because they do it not for the sake of it but for other case. Cure people's foolishness, save the woman he loves, save the human race-all are wrong for Erudition. Science should be pursued for Science, not mundane goals. You may be pleasant, moral and share all you create- but as long as you do research for the sake of it, you are good. In contrast, Otto (who performed countless amoral research to get a greater understanding of the universe's work and did not share the most advanced things he discovered) is impure because all research serves the goal of saving Kallen.
After reading some of the comments, I realized that I hadn't expressed myself too well in the video. Maybe I should have put more emphasis on the fact that I don't think that every member of the Genius Society is an evil lunatic willing to set the world on fire for the sake of their research. For the most part, I share the same view as you. When I said 'selfish' in the video, I meant someone who wants to pursue the ultimate/purest form of knowledge for themselves. Like you said, someone who is doing research only for the sake of it. Now, while it's true that this kind of pursuit tends to attract mostly people of questionable morality, I don't want to discredit the fact that there are people like Aiden and Stephen, even Elias Salas to a degree. My only issue with them is that we know too little about them. Something about Aiden always rubbed me the wrong way, (maybe because he gives me Otto vibes) and Stephen may be hiding things from Herta and the rest. That's why I was looking at things mostly from the perspective of the people we are more familiar with. (Herta, Ruan Mei, and Screllum) Heck, maybe at some point we'll find out that even Polka had good reasons for killing other members. The main point is that I agree. Nous is gazing upon people who pursue knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Unfortunately, that kind of mentality tends to attract mostly a-holes.
@@HomuLabs Aren't we already know why Polka does it? In one SU event Trailblazer meets her and she prepares to kill him. But second encounter it is revealed that she failed because Nous calculated that it is too early for our hero to die- and till Nous calculated death the person can never stay truly dead and will either avoid death or survive. With this it is petty clear that she kills because Nous said that person must die. Maybe their direct enforcer- advancing Aeon's incomprehensible plans. In addition- there are implications that Dongfang- one of IPC founders- may be related to her. And he himself seems to be related to Omen Vanguards. Meaning that all-knowing Terminus again may player their game.
I'm really happy Star Rail is taking after Impact 3rd when it comes to characters that are grey/morally questionable. Impact 3rd has over a dozen last I checked (Mobius for starters). Ruan Mei reminds me a more emotionally detached Dr MEI (she also did a lot of morally questionable choices before her death), and Ratio is an A-hole but he does mean well, he just sometimes chooses a more extreme method to drive his lesson home. Looking forward to seeing more of him in Penacony. Great job on the video!
Intelligence (dr ratio) vs genius (ruan mei). Yeah I know. Intelligence represents a high level of cognitive ability, characterized by logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the acquisition of knowledge. On the other hand, genius encompasses exceptional creativity, originality, and innovation, often leading to groundbreaking contributions in specific fields. Genius society consist of insane, freak, lone wolf members that selected by nous. Not all of them like to share their knowledge and work together. Meanwhile Intelligentsia Guild is an academic institution subsidized by the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC). The Guild is willing to accept all beings from the infinite universe who seek to learn, as well as providing all that is needed for the full pursuit of knowledge. Members trade knowledge for wisdom and formulas for recipes, seeking to achieve mastery. Dr ratio send by IPC to herta's station, a member of genius society. He make a fuss and mocked ruan mei as part of genius society. Just like an elder in genius society who thought the Intelligentsia Guild as laughing stock. Isn't it ironic ? Genius society = close organization Intelligentsia Guild = open organization Just like mbti types. Entp vs Intp. Something like that. 😑
Just finished getting him E6. I love his story and the fact that he has a Nobel goal. Also he does a lot of damage by throwing chalk at perfect angel lol
I think he's also part of the Intelligentsia Guild, even if I'm not that sure about this fact. If this is the case, it reflects well his personality since intelligentsia guild is willing to share knowledge around the galaxy so that people have access to better education, while genius society is as said in the video keeping their knowledge for themselves
I also think Dr. Ratio is too absorbed in scrutinizing other people's "idiocy" more than his personal pursuit. It is opposite of the members of Genius Society who either don't care about what others think of them or will slap you with the reality that they are better than you without putting it into words. They only have one thing in their mind: their "project". Hence, why they are all individualistic in nature despite being a faction. Contrary to the Intelligensia Guild that spreads knowledge to everyone.
I love the story in 1.6, and how they delve into the erudition. As a person, I definitely think Dr. Ratio is much more upright than GS. But man, as someone studying biology, having the obsession to discover knowledge for knowledge's sake, not needing to care if the research is even practical, possessing the power, resources, and freedom to pursue whatever fancies your mind, is an absolute pipe dream I wish was real. It's easy to imagine how researchers all over the universe idolizes GS. They're THE faction made for me.
There's a diff between never becoming a genius and never being 'acknowledged' as a genius by an eon. Dr ratio doesn't need some stupid recognition of an eon to be classed. He is a genuis in our hearts!
the members of genius society unnerved me, especially ruan mei. although, screwllum is growing on me after that penacony quest. i'd definitely put my life in dr. ratio's hands more than them.
I honestly love the Genius society members, especially Ruan Mei, and Herta! I totally can see why you wouldn't want to go with them as they literally do not care about you but honestly, that's what makes me fall for them! I can see their intentions, their goals, and their desires for happiness on how it's so hilarious! While I will be a follower of Aha, I still find enjoyment in the seeking of joy from others! Ruan Mei reminds me of myself from a time where she understood emotions, and life too well, and too much that it blinded her from actually feeling, and knowing them. Even until now, I question if I can ever fall in love with anyone as there is so many different kinds of love that it's a lot more fun to observe, and watch it sprout, grow, and wither away into the wind. If I couldn't be a follower of Aha, I'd most likely be a follower of Erudition to seek knowledge above all else is such a self-damning thing to do that I find enjoyment from!
I am an average HSR player and I want to say Thank you for making videos about HSR in addition to videos on HI3rd. It makes me appreciate game more. Also videos are really good quality and I highly enjoy my time watching them. You doing a great work! keep it up bro!👍
Actually, when first time read his chara story about him not recognized by Nous, i can feel his dissappointed. I can feel his pain. But yeah, i guess this is the best for him. Intellegentsia Guild have some connection to IPC, so their "knowledge" just for "trading funds". Not something Ratio like, but if we look deeper, even scholar need money for their research. So yeah **shrug** And i agree. I prefer face to face with our Doctor than Ruan Mei.
I think he wants a dumb person to be a better person, he wanted knowledge to flow to everyone, Maybe a genius move to spread knowledge rather than discover new things.
Not quite but also Otto will hand out stuff if it fits his goal of saving kallen, Genius society will barely hand out anything if at all Genius society wants to uncover a certain path of knowledge in a way, Otto just wants Kallen bacm
RUAN MEI BEST CRAZY SCIENTIST I LOVE, SHE DID NOTHING WRONG, OK... SHE DID some bad things, but she's not "bad". She simply wants to resolve her problems silently or perhaps simply let them go, to continue in her creations about life and understand genesis.
With every new update I fall in love with HSR's character writing more. It is so BEYOND refreshing seeing fully realized characters who have their own beliefs and morals. I love when characters are more than yet another ray of sunshine and rainbows, singing love and praise to the MC with every second of screentime they have, GENSHIN IMPACT! Characters are more interesting when they do more than just kiss the MC's ass every time they speak, GENSHIN IMPACT! This makes them feel like real people, instead of a simple devices for fan pandering, GENSHIN IMPACT!!! This can create lots of interesting clashes between characters, and explore how they defend their beliefs when challenged, instead of everyone becoming best friends forever after 10 seconds of conversation, GENSHIN IMPACT!!!!
Honestly, I love how Honkai does their organizations and groups because almost every single one is: "Wow here are these people who are experts in X or who are pledged to do Y! Don't they seem nice and cool? Great! Now let's talk about The Atrocities."
small correction. ruan mei didn't drug us. it was just a harmless syringe. the only effect of it was just the host saying the opposite from what they want to say. it was already obvious that she wasn't this sweet and innocent scientist as most members of the genius society are described as aloof and anti-social. like geniuses in the real world, they lack empathy because all the intelligence was distributed into book smart. yes, we almost died but that doesn't mean she wanted us to die. she trusted our capabilities, and dr ratio was there to save us even if he's not in cahoots with ruan mei because like you said- he cares. it was also obvious that ruan mei had ulterior motives, it's not normal to offer a stranger some food unless you want to poison them. all of the genius society members lack empathy and only care about what interests them- and that's what makes them so interesting imo. i can't stand people who praise the male characters for doing good and shit on the female characters for being quote unqoute "assholes." ruan mei is such an interesting character if you sympathize with her struggles.
When we begin the quest the galactic baseballer comments "She's familiar... somehow." We know that the protagonist worked alongside Kafka in the stallaron hunters before becoming a trailblazer from Kafka's sidequest. And that we're an artificial lifeform designed to hold a stellaron. So, my guess is that we met Ruan Mei before as a stellaron hunter, likely who created us, and the poison is real.
Before they were released I honestly thought character wise I’d like Ruan Mei more and hate him, it turned out the other way. I love Dr. Ratio, I wish there was a pure fiction hunt version to really make him shine more.
As far as I am concerned, biggest fools are those who thinks foolishness can be cured. That's why I am team "I-don't-give-a-damn-about-peasants" society. At least they aren't hypocrites who tells other what to do and expect thanks for it. They might cause galaxy wide wars, or revive eminator of most terrifying Aeon, but that's lesser evil in my eyes.
Maybe not really 'cured', but as long they have desire to learning and want work hard, its enough i guess. Y'know, foolishness not just about your knowledge, but also your personality as well.
Foolishness is eternal as people get born and die. So long as people are born, it's forever Foolishness is curable, it returns everynow and then but it is curable. To think so otherwise is to be lazy and inactive on the active pursuit of knowledge. Not curing foolishness is foolishness
I will never understand why people will hard simp for Herta and Raun Meh, one sees you as a literal subject to be experimented on and the other wanted to bring back a swarm mother to understand the Aeon of Propogation(Firefly please slap this woman with blazing hellfire!) At least Ratio will give me a D+ and say do better(usually I got a D+ and the teacher would just say "You survived") Outside of Asta and Arlan I honestly wouldn't of lost a shed of sleep if that whole station self-immolated cause Herta, the patron saint of the station, literal God's child given a form DIDN'T CARE that the Antimatter Legion attacked and that people died. I bet you if she told them scientist to jump out an airlock for science they would foolishly do it!
None the matter of how intelligent or wise you might be or become if you can not be trusted with even the most basic stuff then your worth is equal to zeroth in the bestest of your days. All the high performance in the world without reliability is just a paper weight.
wow your video was so thorough ! I'm left with a question though, why is he following the path of the hunt? i cannot figure it out lore-wise. actually the same goes for a few other characters, like ruan mei is harmony but wouldn't it make more sense for her to be erudition ? or topaz, she's the hunt but why not preservation since she's a top IPC figure ?
Objectively speaking, we havent seen the any of ratio's achivements come on par to those of the genuis society, ratio has helped people yeah but compared to ruan mei who recreated an emanator for a short while, or herta who reversed aging, ratio hasnt really done something awe inducing or brain power requiring compared to the other genuis society members Objectively speaking, ratio isnt on the level with the members in terms of intelligence
What bothers me the most is that I don't see any problem with Ruan Mei's actions haahhaa or maybe we just share the same morality. I mean in order to find the truth about something, one must first tap into that something. In Ruan Mei's case, it is life. Well i guess this influence was brought upon me by my being a vet student. At first i was so taken aback when dealing with dead bodies of animals that we were dissecting. But now, I kind of started to accept that there was no other way than to see and experience the truth first hand. Anatomical models really wont do it. The feel of a living flesh could never be replicated through art and science. It had to be the real thing.

While most members are definitely selfish uncaring people
Among the Genius Society #22 Aiden was described as the most selfless in the society as contrary to most members he actually shared the things he did and was I think the reason why the society became known at all. He was so selfless that Herta found him weird
we know very little about him but he still attracted nous´s gaze. This probably means that he was kind enough to share the info, but was still willing to sacrifice others to get it. Plus being the most selfless in a group full of sociopaths isn't the grandest of titles.

like you said, i would rather deal with someone like Ratio than someone like Herta or Ruan Mei. sure he is an arrogant prick and will make me wanna cry, but he will probably want the best for me and see me improve and learn.

@@Daniel-kj4kuYou seem like a calm, reasonable person that definitely wouldn't let Ruan Mei experiment on you just because shes hot

If Rheindottr, Dottore and Mobius were in the HSRverse, their research would attract Nous and thus be invited to the Genius Society.
Dont think so tbh...
The best they will get is just joining the intelligence guild

Probably because preservation wants the society to be as it is. Tbh, of all aeons I only like Preservation, IX and destruction 😅
The Stellaron Hunters don't oppose the IPC, the IPC opposes them. Very big difference. Elio has no personal issue with the IPC and their governance, it just so happens that the IPC has issues with what is effectively a terrorist group filled to the brim with walking superweapons.
Srewllum is the only one so far to not be a complete asshole.
this video literally pointed out screwllums lack of care towards the researchers even tho hes the only genius member that is present🧐
@@chronicallygaga That is why I included "complete" in the sentence.
@@chronicallygagai think the case with screwllum is that he will not show care so long as he thinks it's not needed. Say that a house is on fire. Assume for a second that your room will not go on fire no matter what according to his calculations, he will not bother wven going in to get you out
Maybe he's lulling us into a false sense of security so that he can one day suddenly attack and wipe out all organic life?
this says miles more about Ruan Mei and Herta than it does Screwllum, given he's the literal robot.
But it will teach you to ask the right questions."
So while members of the Genius Society are not automatically selfish, their own research IS because they realize its true purpose is just to express themselves.

Sadly, the kinds of Herta are actually more favorable in the eyes of Nous. Aeons don't care about humans, they don't have a sense of morality and they only follow the path they govern.
Personally I don't think Otto has Genius potential
He's not like Mobius who's very very into her craft, Otto sees everything he's doing as a step to his goal
A good analogy I would be
Otto will pray to god if it has a guaranteed chance of success, Mobius wont and will keep trying to solve it her aay
Otto was not searching for knowledge for the sake of it, he was doing it to save Kallen. Which means that he would be "unworthy" in the eyed of Nous.
Loved the different names for the Genius Society. I bet Otto would make it in the Geno... Genius Society.
Always enjoy your videos Homu, this was a great one, love your take on comparing Ratio to the Genius Society, got me thinking a lot which I wanted to share... it’s a lot haha (I really find the Society interesting), but for a TLDR just read the next two paragraphs only :)
I agree that Ratio, despite his clearly great intellect, will not be part of the Society, due to the requirement to be “selfish”… although I think it’s more like “single-minded/ruthless pursuit of knowledge/research” as I don’t think an individual’s morality is actually a factor.
@9:56 Reminds me of Toji Zenin and his views on Sorcerer Society in JJK.
Its kinda sad for asta because even if she tried her hardest to accomodate the station's needs and protection, these mindless idolizers will still hate on her. Such were shown on the Group chats that slander her.

Your storytelling just never disappoints, man. Keep up the good work
I enjoyed the lore exploration and the dragging of the Self-Absorbed Society.

He's the hero we didn't ask for but that we got anyway for free
Nah, I'd still hate Ruan Mei for drugging the MC. I know that it's for the sake of secrecy, but still, that alone is a red flag
Genius society = close organization
Intelligentsia Guild = open organization
Just like mbti types.
He is
He looks too damn Handsome
I love hoyo writing and your videos explaining them !
In the playerbase most who idolize Ruan Mei do it from horniness. 😅
And they are coping so hard to tell us that she has feeling development just to justify her action 😢
There's a diff between never becoming a genius and never being 'acknowledged' as a genius by an eon. Dr ratio doesn't need some stupid recognition of an eon to be classed. He is a genuis in our hearts!

If I couldn't be a follower of Aha, I'd most likely be a follower of Erudition to seek knowledge above all else is such a self-damning thing to do that I find enjoyment from!
man for your sake, please dont follow people who dont care about you.

for me, the only reason dr.ratio does not fits into the genius society is that he is mainly a teacher, not a researcher.

When we begin the quest the galactic baseballer comments "She's familiar... somehow."
We know that the protagonist worked alongside Kafka in the stallaron hunters before becoming a trailblazer from Kafka's sidequest. And that we're an artificial lifeform designed to hold a stellaron.
So, my guess is that we met Ruan Mei before as a stellaron hunter, likely who created us, and the poison is real.
Im surprised there's not a list of the many nicknames he gave the Genius society lol
So he's just a greek version of house 0:51
Before they were released I honestly thought character wise I’d like Ruan Mei more and hate him, it turned out the other way. I love Dr. Ratio, I wish there was a pure fiction hunt version to really make him shine more.
So in short Veritas Ratio is still a 'genius' in his own right for showing some empathy once in a while.
*for having a big brain
His empathy separates him from the gaze of Nous.
ok now I realise that I'm a fool
4:37 me: yea they don't look as good ---k ubz scouts
As far as I am concerned, biggest fools are those who thinks foolishness can be cured. That's why I am team "I-don't-give-a-damn-about-peasants" society. At least they aren't hypocrites who tells other what to do and expect thanks for it.
They might cause galaxy wide wars, or revive eminator of most terrifying Aeon, but that's lesser evil in my eyes.
You are a great examples of such foolishness.
@@markiv2075 And I am fine with that.
Maybe not really 'cured', but as long they have desire to learning and want work hard, its enough i guess.
Y'know, foolishness not just about your knowledge, but also your personality as well.
Ooh morally grey, such an anti-hero, so cool 😍😍😍
Foolishness is eternal as people get born and die. So long as people are born, it's forever
Foolishness is curable, it returns everynow and then but it is curable. To think so otherwise is to be lazy and inactive on the active pursuit of knowledge. Not curing foolishness is foolishness
6:40 @HomuLabs also Dr.Ratio wanna see like/subscribe button to glow by saying "Smash that like button". Please next time😅
I will never understand why people will hard simp for Herta and Raun Meh, one sees you as a literal subject to be experimented on and the other wanted to bring back a swarm mother to understand the Aeon of Propogation(Firefly please slap this woman with blazing hellfire!) At least Ratio will give me a D+ and say do better(usually I got a D+ and the teacher would just say "You survived") Outside of Asta and Arlan I honestly wouldn't of lost a shed of sleep if that whole station self-immolated cause Herta, the patron saint of the station, literal God's child given a form DIDN'T CARE that the Antimatter Legion attacked and that people died.
MAN...!!! I WOULD'VE LOVE IT TWO YEARS AGO WHEN YOU COULD'VE SLANDERED THE SUMERU AKADEMIYA UNDER GRAND L AZAR!!!
You should stop mocking the genocide society before Ruanmei knocking your door.
No worries bro, we got Polka on our side, she's the best genius repellent
That might not be so bad...
@@HomuLabs *bonk*
You really embraced the title of number one genius society member, and I feel you, they’re weird😬
The Doctor (Arknights) could fit into the genius society maybe
From what I know, he's a planner, not a researcher. So he can't be in.
wow your video was so thorough ! I'm left with a question though, why is he following the path of the hunt? i cannot figure it out lore-wise. actually the same goes for a few other characters, like ruan mei is harmony but wouldn't it make more sense for her to be erudition ? or topaz, she's the hunt but why not preservation since she's a top IPC figure ?
game paths are not lore accurate, they just display their abilities for gameplay.
i forgot, but is silverwolf part of the genius society ?
Nope, she is just a Stellaron Hunter.
Simple. The Geniuses follow scientism. Ratio does not.
Isn’t he Welt son????
"genocide society"
oou thats not-
zKodla is a member?
Ugh got clickbaited
Objectively speaking, we havent seen the any of ratio's achivements come on par to those of the genuis society, ratio has helped people yeah but compared to ruan mei who recreated an emanator for a short while, or herta who reversed aging, ratio hasnt really done something awe inducing or brain power requiring compared to the other genuis society members
Objectively speaking, ratio isnt on the level with the members in terms of intelligence
don't like the misleading thumbnail bro.... as the video i love it
Me who just came out feeling sad and disappointed from the chaos of 4.4 Genshin Livestream drama.
'Sees the title'
Me: Ayo what is this slander? 😅🤣
It's not like Ruan didn't send a competent janitor with a baseball bat to clean up the mess left by her research.
