Sliders are a 100% recommended mod if you actually wheel your truck. They literally pay for themselves. A buddy of mine that got a brand new 3rd gen was hesitant on this recommendation but he did it. We went wheeling one day (his truck is completely stock) and the trails were not even technical but they were a bit rocky. He hit a rock near his side panel pretty hard that day but his RCI sliders saved the day. He dodged a $3k dollar fix.
Jack , Tow straps/chain with D Rings, shovel, chainsaw/hand saw/, air pump, tire plugs and patches, lighter/matches,grease packs, zip ties ... somethings to bring just in case in general..
You guys notice how he honestly doesn’t have too much invested compared to others and he gets things done just as well if not better ! Living proof that you just need to get out there and wheel !
I've been watching your channel for months and seeing different versions of the Toyota Tacoma, and I'm so jealous, and I'd like to own a truck like yours and drive it through the mountains and valleys, but that's not a possibility here in Korea, because the Tacoma itself is not officially imported, and it's not easy to maintain, repair, and manage the car with the few companies that import it privately. Really, I envy you guys.
Im watching my next vehicle (pretty much). I'd go with 17" wheels to be able to get bigger brakes, I would do a Fox shocks upgrade, maube ditch the high air intake cuz I don't really need it, and a different bed rack setup. But the lockers, gearing, 35s, beadlocks, lights, rock sliders, armour, bumpers... it just looks beautiful and mean.
Another driveshaft place I would recommend is the 4x4 center out of south Burlington vt, they make driveshafts for anything from Subarus to old Land Rover defenders
since you guys have been going on a bunch of gnarly trips, I think you guys are the right ones to ask about what spare parts should people bring for the 3rd gen tacoma just in case a common tacoma problem occurs, what spare parts do you guys bring?
Just starting my build; checking out different bumpers, was like steel and looks really good , So I looked them up on google & there in Clovis 🥳🤘🏻 I live in Tollhouse.I know where I’m getting my bumpers now 🥳🥳hell ya ✌️✌️
That was a really great and helpful video especially for those of us who’re thinking of getting into this awesome activity. Thank you TCMBST and Benny!
Why did he make the central valley sound like it wasn't a thing? It's literally huge and takes up the whole state haha felt like he was hurt that the san fernando valley wasn't the only valley in California
If anyone should get an RCLT HD lower and upper control arm set and RCV axles from Marlin Crawler its him. They ran it on a 4runner and did King of Hammers.
What's up with the exhaust? Looks like a reroute at least. About to have mine done. Also, a huge yes on Nitro re-gearing. I am only on 33's now with cab mount chop and stuff, but the gears are huge! I tow a lot too, and my transmission doesn't hunt like it used to! I did 5.29's, but I can easily fit 35's with no rubbing now with the lift, chop, and a few pinch welds.
@@timhobbs1229 haha no worries. it’s just the area code of San Fernando Valley, in California. We can be very proud group of people seeing someone from “The Valley” representing us in a positive light.
@@253sam firstly, the quality of the Tacoma vs the zr2; secondly, the Tacoma is built with idea in mind that there will be modifications. At times I feel that the zr2 was just thrown together and a front and rear locker added...its just my opinion.
That Baofeng was definitely not a "walkie-talkie" and with it laying sideways like that I imagine it's not got the best range either. I'm sure it looks cool to have it, but if you're using it I hope you have a license.
I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. It's really starting to rust heavy under the truck. There are small holes developing under the doors. What is the best way to treat all the rust and the doors? Is it worth sinking more momey into it or should I just buy a cheap gen 2.
That would probably be a better question to ask our support team, feel free to contact them at support@tacomabeast.com they’ll be happy to give you some advice!
Brandon, call Toyota because you may fall under the enormous recall on frames for almost all of the 1st gens and some 2nd gens. There is a formula they use to see if you fall within the qualifications but I dont remember what it is. What I do know is that this chance to get a new frame runs out in 2022. I hope you still have the opportunity to get one because driving on one that is rusted as you are saying is dangerous. Some states wont even allow people to drive them as they are not stable. You can look it up...but man, call, and I hope everything works out in your favor so you can get a new frame.
It’s not what you buy.. it’s how you build it.. most important part of that build is what you do with the space between the steering wheel and driver seat. I’d bet he can make guys in their 100k Jeep’s look silly..
I’m gonna help peoples, when you want to know about regearing ask yourself a simple question, do you have bigger tires than facotry, if yes then regear.

1st Gen Tacomas were made in Japan 🇯🇵. Both my dad and I had extra cab V-6’s. His was 4x4 5-speed manual and I had 4x2 auto on the column. I wish I had kept his truck and rebuilt his engine in 2017. He now has a 2017 3rd Gen 4-cylinder 4x2 double cab.
Its mod where you run a hose from the breather up top somewhere so when you do water crossings it doesnt suck water up in the diff. Theres a couple vids about how to do it
He was saying diff breather. It's an elevated vent that keeps the diff from sucking water. When your hot diff hits cold water, the diff cools down and draws a vacuum that causes water to enter the diff.
Never watch Tacoma videos but this truck is nice. clean and simple built to wheel. That’s tough

A no-show beast. A+

I sure do miss the terrain out there. Took my Toyota out to the box a few times in places I took my hummwv at Irwin. Was a blast.
It was freaking incredible🤙
Amazing truck next and last mod would be a diff cover for the rear than it would be 100% dialed in
I have a 2020 tacoma I want to build just like this 🌮
Funny came across this taco on Instagram 1hr before this video

The Tacoma is built a lot better than the zr2 and this is coming from a zr2 owner too.
how so? I’m not biased in any way. I find the zr2 appealing in certain ways. I have a 19 Tacoma.
