What would happen if a diamond or glass stone slipped through the screening process into the nitric solution? Would it be able to be filtered out or would it gum up the works?
If you hold on to your gold beads/bars/ shot, these can be added in to mistake batches. What I am talking about is if you mess up and use to much nitric in a AR reduction you add the 24k gold to use up the nitric acid to get a fast way through a bad batch. You of course must keep track of what you added to the batch.
I have a question . Can you just melt all of the karat gold in one container and poor it like I have seen you do into water then chemically refine after melted
Why risk losses during refining on the already refined gold. Just save it and include in the final melt unless you think it is dirty and needs refinement.
Long ago, many sizable towns had a shot tower for the production of lead shot for hunting. The molten lead was poured through a screen into a water bath below. The shot formed into spheres and then was chilled when it hit the water. I think you could make smaller granules and avoid the self-welding by using a deeper, more narrow water bath to drop the melt into. Also, you could try to use a stainless steel screen to drop the melt through, similar to the old-time shot tower. You will probably have to heat the screen during the pour though.

@WoT Fegano Sure, Herr Major. MMCS is how we say his rating/rate/rank. MM is "machinist mate" and CS denotes "senior chief." In the US Navy senior chief is next to highest non-commissioned officer rank just as Stabsfeldwebel is for Heer. In our Navy the person's specialty is always in their "rate." My rate was AT, Aviation Electronics Technician and I was a 1st class petty officer so I was known as AT1. If I had stayed long enough to make senior chief I would have been an ATCS. @@sreetips Why im asking is that gold ingots takings long time (less karat gold // more than 8-10 hours) to dissolve with AR solution, but not if it's jewelry. So please help me.
Solid metallic gold takes much longer and requires more acids to dissolve. I just keep adding small doses of nitric acid until all the gold dissolves. Then I evaporate on medium high heat until all the fumes are gone to get rid of any excess nitric acid.
I feel the same way when I buy silver or gold coins. I get pretty close to spot and I don't want other people to know where I buy because there would be none left.

Great videos... Thanks for making them. I do have a question. When you or your wife buy silver or gold, what is the percentage of spot that you go up to when figuring out your top dollar you will spend on items?
When I buy I pay 80% of spot. When she buys she pays pennies on the dollar. Usually because the seller don’t know the value and don’t care. They just want a few bucks and the stuff gone!
I actually used to buy gold jewlery from the Goodwill. very very cheap. Alot of it was no more than $10 for rings and necklaces along with other jewlery. i was buying it up for months. And then they finally caught on and started pricing it by weight. I was like crap. The gig was up.
That’s what will happen if they let the spot gold get away from them. Let’s hope they can keep interest away from the metals. If it’s spikes then we won’t be able to find anymore - anywhere.
im sorry but when u were weighing the silver i was watching u be careful and Then out of nowhere you placed the silver dish. had me laughing so hard😂😂😂
Beautiful channel and really interesting video...really detailed and informative, thanks for sharing! May I ask (as a newbie) if somebody know what’s the cost for carrot gold like that?
I calculate enough silver to create a 25% gold alloy then multiply by .95 to reduce the silver content slightly. There is a “Goldie locks” range. Too much silver and the gold crumbles to a powder making separation of the silver solution difficult. Too little silver and the nitric can’t penetrate completely.
I'm guessing it would be fine to leave gold in the dry brown powder state? A thief may pass it up thinking it's just dirt. Of course at some point I'd melt it down.
How about in liquid state in a plastic jug? I recently dissolved 15 Troy ounces of pure gold in just 500ml of solution. It will remain stable in liquid form (called chloroauric acid) but some metallic gold particles will come out of solution. Other than thieves, loss from a house fire then becomes a concern.

You would go aft to get a smoke and subconsciously walk a little faster through the passage; knowing there was some K2 Widowmaker shit in there and ratings just crawling all over it. We didn't have real time dosimeters either. I wonder if they ever got that together? Point is, no glow. :D
I hope this helps.
We do not use Waffenfarbe.
This may help a little should you wish to look. It can be a bit hard to keep the "CMs" and "CSs" together. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Navy_enlisted_rates
Hi Sreetip, I believe you sell your refined products on eBay. How easy would it be to sell to a gold dealer and would you be able to get close to spot price? I'd love to refine mostly for the fun of it but be able to sell it to say SchiffGold
Do you have any plans to refine a big batch of gold using the method you used in your last video?
I may try a larger batch - maybe 3 or 4 ounces. But anything larger than that is starting to press the capacity of my small hobby set up,
Looking forward to the next parts! Thanks sreetips.
Does Mrs Sreetips carry a scale with her when she is out purchasing gold jewelry?
hello when multiplying constants to find out how much silver to incorporate, I have a few questions. A why do you need to add silver to the 24k? it should already be pure right? also if the constant is 3 for this as you wrote on your calculations, why do you take the result and multiply it by 0.95 to get 204g? does this multiplication of 0.95 need to happen every time you do that calculation? thanks to anybody who answers in advanced!
Why add silver to 24k: for the show. Multiply by 0.95 to reduce the amount of silver. Not enough silver is better than too much.
Is there any measurement about acid ML limits of each grams ? if there, kindly share notes or share your video links please.
Acid ml limits. I’ve never measured that.
@@sreetips thanks for your kind reply on your busy schedule.
Great video with a cup of coffee!
I feel the same way when I buy silver or gold coins. I get pretty close to spot and I don't want other people to know where I buy because there would be none left.
So your seller has only a few on stock.
Big fish
@@delansick6865 guess you don't understand the meaning of keeping your source a secret? 🙄
@@Card_Asylum I know what a secret is.
But how many 1 ounce gold coins do you buy a month?
You make 5 Dollar more because of the secret place.
Let your coin seller make money too.
@@delansick6865 why TF would I worry about them making money? They need to price it so they are. If not they're in the wrong business. You think gonna pay more just to let someone make more off me? HELL NO.
@@Card_Asylum You don´t get it.
When your dealer get more customers he can make for ALL a better price.
Maybe one day you will save another 2-3$
Do you think he doesn´t know he is cheaper?
This is an exciting video series.
@@sreetips Thank you for the reply. Have a great day.
Why didn’t you put the plate first?
Mrs Sreetips is the key to the whole operation. What can we do to get her talking?
Love the Gold videos but the ring repair was really cool
Amazin, amazing. I just subscribed to your channel sir!
Welcome!
Thanks for your service
Thank you!
im sorry but when u were weighing the silver i was watching u be careful and Then out of nowhere you placed the silver dish. had me laughing so hard😂😂😂
Laughter is good medicine.
Can’t wait to see this. You’ve always got something cooking. (Pardon the pun. )
Beautiful channel and really interesting video...really detailed and informative, thanks for sharing! May I ask (as a newbie) if somebody know what’s the cost for carrot gold like that?
Figure about 80% of spot for the metals. My cut is only 20% less expenses.
@@sreetips Thanks a lot sir, I really appreciate it!
Thank you for your service. 🇺🇲
Looking forward to the next part!🥳
Awesome!!! Can I ask, will you also end up with pure silver at the end or will that also require further refining?
Further refining
How do you test the diamonds to make sure they are real?
That’s going to be a very nice bar can’t wait to see it!!!
Why re-refine the 24k shot? Why not just melt it down at the end??
I'm thinking about using this video for something is that ok 👌
So you don't lose any gold while processing it? This is really intresting!
There are small loses throughout the entire process
Can you tell me where I can get scrap at fair price
Thrift stores, resale shops, yard sales, flea markets. But it won’t fall into your lap. You’ve got to search.
It's gonna be great to see this turn out.👍
I'd say invest in a small Devil Forge furnace. i think they make a 2kg one as one of their smallest.
Love this,
So interesting & keeps my attention the entire time .
Do you lose any silver in the inquarting process?
No
This is nuts! Love it...

When the first weight was 2020 I thought everything would go to hell after
Your not the only one! 2020 has hit my family pretty damn hard!
I had to rewatch to make sure it was 2020!
Do you have any refining videos for sale yet?
Not so far
Make sure the gas can isn't soldered but welded before making it into a propane furnace.
Galvanized zinc, turns out, may not be the best choice for a metal melting furnace.
this is really amazing work...you're hero material mr. sreetips
How long did it take you to clean all this? lol I'm guessing the better part of 2 days?
A few hours
Nice we have been acumulating but dont have the skills yet to risk refing my self.
how do you do the math to the gold to silver percentage?
I calculate enough silver to create a 25% gold alloy then multiply by .95 to reduce the silver content slightly. There is a “Goldie locks” range. Too much silver and the gold crumbles to a powder making separation of the silver solution difficult. Too little silver and the nitric can’t penetrate completely.
Where I work I get this kind of stuff daily. And I've been buying a lot of it to hopefully refine my own one day.
Do small batches. Large is a real pain in the back side
@@sreetips 10-4!
Thanks for the reply. Lots of helpful info
