Well done for doing this video. I too have had some awful bouts of depression and low mood over the years. I used to envy and wonder how some people always seemed to have the flashy cars, designer clothes etc but I've learnt that a lot of these people are up to their eyes in debt. I try to look at the positive things in life rather than the negative and I've stopped being a people pleaser. If I don't want to do something I'll say so. As I've got older, the important things to me are my family and my friends not possessions. You're right that gardens are great for our mental health. I'll often think I'll just do five minutes outside and before I know it three hours have passed. I do wish that I'd changed jobs instead of sticking to the same one for 43yrs and I was extremely unhappy for the last fifteen as the job changed so much and was totally unrecognisable to the one I'd signed up for. Since retiring, I've been at my happiest and have the time to do what I want to do. I think all the bending and stretching in the garden is the main thing that has kept me young. Most of my friends are full of aches and pains which must be depressing and affect quality of life. I am very lucky to have you both as my gardening friends. Thank you. xxx

@@wendybartlett6717 Hi Wendy. Thank you so much for your very lovely message. It sounds as though over the years you have learned so much through life about what matters. It is not the possessions, it is the experiences that matter. As you know Wendy, they really do the trick. Being in a garden amd like you say, loosing track of time when being outside is all part of the magic. I just know that people can gain so much by spending time gardening. Those of us that have been doing this for many years know the benefits, but to those new to gardening or have not yet found this amazing way of life, there are so many benefits to them. I'm glad that you have come though this terrible periods of depression in life Wendy. It is a cruel and wicked illness. You sound like you have life well and truly understood now. Gardening and spending time outdoors is where its at. It has always been a place of escape from the toils of life, but now more than ever it can help ❤️ Thank you for the kind words about the video Wendy and for supporting us from the very beginning 😊 💙 😎

Hi Andrew and Paul, thank you for sharing and talking about this topic. I couldn't agree with you more, nature seems to have a magical healing power for our minds and gardening has helped me so much. I've even heard that some doctors can prescribe it now! How wonderful is that? 😊
I've been enjoying your channel for about a year now and I have to say that your videos are some of the most useful and informative that can be found. As a relative newby I have found your easy going, friendly style really helpful. Thank you and keep doing what you do❤

@@michelleuk676 Aw, thank you so much for your very kind words. They are appreciated more than you can know. We are just grateful that people enjoy the videos. That's why we do what we do 😊😊. You are right. They do prescribe gardening now. I remember our previous gp surgery in Manchester, they had plants that they would give to patients to take care of. It's truly amazing and works well. Thanks. It is a subject that is very close to our hearts. I want to get it out there that gardening and the great outdoors can do so much for everybody 💙

A year ago my cat passed and I was so sad, I had a garden a few acres down the hill, would go and just watch it die, but I still had to water because I was growing flowers for a friend’s wedding.

@YarrowPressburg I am so sorry for your loss. We understand this more than you know, having lost two cat sons now and our dog son Zues. 💙 Sending healing thoughts. The garden truly is the best place to be. Right outdoors amongst nature. It truly is the best tonic.

I send a big hug for you.I understand you so well. We´ve lost 5 dogs over the years and we ´re missing them so much.We get our dogs from a shelter and some are handicaped or a little bit older. The most people want puppies...young,healthy,cosy.Maybe our dogs are not so young or healthy, and maybe they are ugly but they all have a heart made from pure gold and we love them so much. One day you will see a cat, maybe a straycat, maybe ugly and dirty...but your heart will beat for this cat and you both will have a great time together. That is love.In memoriam Tiffany,Donka,Daisy,Lucky and Candy
