People are always asking me when my garden is going to be done. Never. Some projects will be completed but there is no actual done with the garden. You’re doing a lovely job with your garden. I added a special patio for yoga and meditation. Will feel completely walled by greenery in a few more years.
That sounds amazing and I totally agree!! I said to my 14 yr old “wait till you see the garden this year” She said you say that every year & I told her that’s because it’s never done 😂
It’s amazing how much you have accomplished in truly a short time. I’ve been working on my garden for over 20 years…still learning, still moving plants around. As our friend Monty Don would say, a garden is not a place, it’s a journey. Just gotta love him 😁. Blessings in the New Year!
Thank you for this video. I’m sitting here in Ohio, USA, watching it snow. I’m sooo ready for Spring and this video was a breath of fresh air. It boosted my mood.
Wow! After watching your videos since just before COVID, you've made an amazing transformation in your garden Catherine! Especially this past year, it seems, because everything you had started in previous years seemed to come into it's own, and then the raised beds added so much more definition and interest. Your flowers are gorgeous, the way you've embellished your cement walls with the mirrors and faux brickwork....it's all a visual feast for the eyes. You've given us hours of happiness watching you garden in your lush, green garden in Ireland while we're still bogged down in snow here in Canada most winters. I'm so happy I found your channel! Best wishes for the coming gardening year.
This past year I have learned how much working in the garden feeds my soul. There is something about it that I can’t quite but into words but I do know that it is something I need to do. It just brings me such joy! Thanks for sharing your journey it’s always so much fun watching how your garden has evolved over time.
We moved house last July and now have a pretty large garden for which I have lots of plans - first time greenhouse owner and it's full to capacity already. Thanks for the inspiration - cottage garden is exactly what I'm looking for.
i absolutely love this video it feels like a breath of fresh air from the side of the internet i’m coming from. i just started germinating my seeds for the summer! you have a beautiful garden and even more beautiful energy 🫶🏽🌷🌱
This year I am focusing on a healing garden with herbs, plants, and statues that represent positive healing. I am thinking of lights entwined with lavender, rosemary and peace flags. 💗
This is beautiful. Dorset girl here. Sounds like we have the same climate... a mild dusting of snow in the winter! Like you, I feel down in the winter so I love your forward planning. So much hard work. Looks so lovely. You reap what you sow!
The last two nights I’ve fallen asleep thinking about what all I want to plant and where. For some reason your videos haven’t been popping up like they used to, but as soon as I saw this one today I immediately clicked to watch. I always love your content, especially the garden ones. I can’t wait to see what all you plant this year!
Hello again. I God a new phone quite a while back and lost touch with my old data. So happy Ai found your channel again. I hope youvall are safe and well. God bless you all.from Bakersfield California USA
Ive never been so intrigued in someones journey as i have yours, ive never planted anything before but im going to give it a go for this summer as have moved into a new home and would like to make it more homey and pretty for my family, this video helped ALOT xo
Soon the brave snowdrops will appear, peeping through the cold brown earth. So much more than a small, white bell. Courage, purity and hope in such a delicate flower. Happy New Year to you and planet earth 🌳 and indeed to gardeners everywhere. 🌱🍃☘️
Hi! I’ve just pulled up your video again to watch how you did your fake tiling in your greenhouse. AWSOME! Thanks to you, am thinking of doing something similar out on our patio soon as the rain really really goes away! Thanks a million. You’re a very inspiring young lady, best wishes to you. 🙏🏻🇮🇪💐🌻☘️🪷🙋🏼♀️
Oh I'm here for this. I have so much enjoyed watching your garden develop. My favourite episodes were tackling the spider shed, what a transformation! And the greenhouse and raised beds. You have created an oasis that I am so envious of 😁
Gorgeous garden! I love cottage garden style as well, and am trying to add more trees and shrubs :) anyone know what plant is shown at 17:02? Looks like mums to me. Would love to plant those.
My garden win was pulling out tons of Jimson weed which was taking over (from previous owner), reviving the lawn, which had been destroyed by dogs, and starting a garden, a dream of mine since childhood. I hope to just keep adding more and more because there’s still lots of blank space. I’m mainly aiming for edible perennials and native plants. 💕
Hello my dear. I have watched your garden grow for some time now. I love your greenhouse and all the colors you have in the garden. Just like you, I started my indoor plants during the pandemic. I started the garden many years ago. I love the projects you create since I love projects in the garden also. I enjoy watching. Keep up the great work. 👍👍👍👍
Lots of ideas , lot of hard work You’re doing a lovely job with your garden. t’s amazing how much you have accomplished in a short span. Thank you for sharing .Happy gardening.
I am so happy your video appeared in my feed! I love your garden. It is wondrous! Subscribed! I am in Portland, OR in the Pacific Northwest of the US. I also LOVE the brick stencil! Genius!
I put in a small perennial flower garden at the back of my house near my patio. Next year I want to attempt a garden like you have done on the left side of your house. Here's hoping!
I am excited today is april 7th and this weekend ill be able to plant my sunflowers, 1st time ever. And i thinkntwp more flowers can go in at the ens of april . Most will have to wait till mid may. But i cold seeded for my veggie garden this year, so i hope to have 2 maybe 3 for some veggies Your flowers are absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing
Catherine, you are so talented and creative with your beautiful home and garden. You've accomplished so much. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you a great New Year and all the best for 2024!!
Just stumbled on your blog. I really enjoyed watching your garden journey. We all start somewhere. I too did a lot of things backwards...lol. Thanks for sharing how you turned your blank canvas yard into a beautiful charming cottage garden!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed the garden journey-it’s all about learning as we go, isn’t it? Doing things "backwards" just adds to the story and charm of it all! 😊 I hope my little adventures inspire you with your own garden. Wishing you lots of joy as you create your own special space! 🌸✨
I love this video! Thank you, that's a lot of work to make from beginning to end so much appreciated! Your garden is beautiful!! I love it all! The shed, the greenhouse, your accent! LOL LOVE IT!
Hi Catherine. I started watching your videos when you and Mr C were building the cat castles and I’m completely hooked. Love your topics, especially the garden videos and nature shots and find them really relaxing and useful. I have always gardened and, as long as I’m able always will. The little bulbs starting to poke their heads through the soil as they are now is so welcome after a long dark winter. If you have a minute please tell me what the robin was eating out of the dish on the arm of your chair. I have one visiting and I’d love him to nest.
What you said about microclimates is so true. I live in a zone 12 but I can only grow really drought-resistant grasses and flowers in the summer months in the back garden. It's such a sun trap, everything bakes.
Hi I've been watching your channel for months from the USA NC. You and your content gives me great joy!! And Just now I was watching when my signed book arrived. Love This!! Have a Beautiful Week. Just wanted to say hello and Thanks for all you do on your channel.
Catherine your beautiful garden has established it's style. Eyes immediately travel to the tall greenhouse surrounded by pots of plants and trees. Raised beds full of colorful flowers waiting to be cut. Beds full of bulbs and tall sunflowers. Fresh mowed grass and big lawn chairs to relax with a cup of tea when your work is done. Where you marvel at the birds and butterflies and turn you face to the warm sun. Light up the greenhouse and have a Blessed and Happy New Year 2024.
i live in Texas and we have a wonderful season for wildflowers. I strive for an english style garden but with a western flair. Lots of bluebonnets, paint brushes, mexican hats, and indian blankets to name a few annuals. Lots of salvias/sages, turks caps, etc for perennials. We do well with roses too here.
I’m so happy TH-cam recommended this video to me! Your garden is lovely and I enjoyed the video style - felt like chatting with a girlfriend over coffee ☺️ I’m an amateur gardener in zone 6 in the States, but I’m addicted. I love it so much and agree that a garden is never fully “done” (and surprisingly that doesn’t bother me one bit haha!) Keep up the great work 💛
Wonderful job 👍 Gardens are never done I've been creating 14years how it's changed year to year .my country cottage garden at the beach. Zone 8b from the zone change it was 7b☘️
Gosh. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your garden adventure and your interesting and motivating words. Thank you. What I'll do different in 2024 is installing hoops with nets over some of my raised beds ... the rabbits and deer had a grand graze and I hope to enjoy some of the produce this coming year. Thank you again.
Isn't it WONDERFUL to watch the video (almost in fast forward) because you show a LONG road with the garden in the short video. You've done well - it looks so lovely - a real happy place.
So nice to see your garden genesis. I moved to the country in central Alberta, Canada 21/2 years ago and started from scratch. I now have some fruit trees, a rock garden, a few veggie beds and a place to add a flower garden. It’s been a lot of work, but is so satisfying. BTW, I’m the one with the 3 orphan kittens about the same age as yours. They’re getting so big now. A real joy.
Would love to see a how to clean and disinfect your garden tools and any other tips. Your videos are so helpful not to mention absolutely gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful I love it! Hope you have a beautiful year full of everything you love! 🥰🥰🥰❤️
My garden lesson for this year was to give myself grace throughout this new process, as I just started a flower garden for the first time this past year. I am going to make mistakes, and that’s perfectly fine and part of it!
I’ve been gardening for over 40 years and I’m always changing it,I love the garden in spring and autumn. Our garden is very free draining so in the summer it can look quite tired.❤ your garden is beautiful.
Oh how lovely! I so enjoyed watching you design and plant your wonderful gardens. I agree, we are NEVER done....as we continue to learn, change and grow! I look forward to more of your beautiful videos!
I loved your video. You're just adorable and I love your narration as well. I wonder if you have the space for a small witch hazel which blooms very early in the year like January February or maybe a Daphne that blooms twice a year and they smell amazing and are good in bouquets. Or maybe a white Julia which is a great cut shrub and smells awesome with beautiful little white flowers? I loved the frame shot of dusky part of the video with your greenhouse and the lights on in the flowers in front of it. That was so beautiful. Your whole garden is beautiful. I'm sure your dad would be proud of what you have accomplished. And I love your laid back nature will take care of it or has the answer approach. Awesome job!
Hello, dear Catherine 👋😊 THANK YOU very much for your videos and creations. for your channel, for the inspirations... THANK YOU for being you. I wish you all the best, especially love, health, happiness. With Love Maťa from Slovakia 👋😊🥂🍾❤️🌼☘️✨
My big win in the garden last year was that, when I needed to relocate my tomato plant plot, I decided not to dig up more grass but simply to create a no-dig bed. It was so easy to do and I felt I was feeding the soil with the decomposing sod instead of ripping it out and losing a lot of soil - and had very few weeds! My hope this year is that the tulip bulbs my daughter brought back from a stop over in Schiphol Airport on her way back to the US come up 🙂
what a beautiful garden you have created for yourself, I like you love cottage gardens and until a couple of years ago I was lucky to live in a beautiful cottage in cambridgeshire that had a gorgeous cottage garden which was about 6 times the size of yours sadly I cannot claim to it being miy creation as the majority of it was there when I moved in although I did develop it with my own ideas and was thoroughly bitten by the gardening bug, sadly after a divorce f I now find myself in a small modern house with nothing other than a small courtyard gardenwhich although I have tried to recreate a somewhat nice cottage garden using pots and a raised bed I have I must admitlost to some extent my interest in gardening, my garden now is very small 10 foot by about five foot and is enclosed by brick walls on all sides and gets very little sun, but your video , has inspired me, your comment of every plant in its right place has made me realise to some extent where I have gone wrong, I have been buying and growing perennial plants I grew before which thrived in full sun and I have expected them to flourish in the shade, so you have made me look at reviewing my expectations on what I should plant, I do not grow veg in this 'garden' although in cambridgeshire I had a section which was a thriving vegatable plot, but here I am growing a number of herbs quite successfully, I love your brick paint effects on your greenhouse floor, indeed I love yor greenhose and wall and I must admit I had a little chuckle when you said about throwing garden pests over your wall as my garden in cambridge had a drainage ditch running on one side over a hedge, which ended up as a home for numerous snails collected on nightime sorties, I am sorry if this is a long comment but would add that I intend to watch all of your videos as I love your garden and your obvious love of it too, be proud of your garden it is beautiful
Your garden looks so lovely, flowers do bring joy. I am leaning a little more into potted flowers since watching you garden over the year. My biggest joy this year is learning that I can leave my carrots in the soil, covered by large bags of leaves, under the snow and still pull out the most delicious crunchy snack ever. I garden in zone 5b, New Brunswick, Canada. Laurie
Catherine this is a great refresher of a video to see all your previous garden videos specially in this grey winter time. You sure have worked hard to make your home very beautiful. It for sure pays off and in the future you can look back feeling proud and accomplished of all you’ve done. Thank you for taking us along and sharing your journey. May this new year 2024 bring you and your family lots of love, peace, health and prosperity and your sweet little kittens continue to light up with joy your life and home. Oh and yes I’m the plant and see what happens type of person, learn as I go 😅. Anyways lots of love to you and your kittens 😊❤.
I just now discovered your channel. The word cottage drew me but then I saw Ireland! I’m half Irish but have never been there. Everything about this video was a delight, including your lovely accent! You have created such a sweet garden.
Hi there I’m creating a garden from scratch here in the hills of Donegal There is no shelter and loads of rushes 😢 It’s quite a challenge but after 3 years I’m finally starting to see progress 😊 Bushes hedges trees and fences and now just got a wee paddock donated by hubby (farmer ) so excited to make an orchard Love you channel ❤
Hi Catherine! I have been glued to your channel since mid-2019. It never grows old to me. I love it more and more. You have taught me so much and inspired me all along the way! I am absolutely my truest self in the garden. I have been working in my garden since I bought my home in 2019. I have been focusing on flowerbed borders and trees, and this year, a new redwood fence. I can not be happier with the way things are coming along. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the new season brings. Today, i purchased two beautiful yellow climbing roses for an arch entering a shade garden / work space. Thank you for sharing, teaching, and inspiring us!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden. My garden brings me a lot of joy too ❤❤ My garden wins were my spring bulbs especially the tulips and my roses. I also had three peonies flower for the first time. I had success growing snapdragons and cosmos from seed. My fails were sweet peas and zinnias from seed and my dahlias were not as great this year.
Love it! 🌼💐🌿💗 Someone told me to make a new garden each year... That it doesn't have to be Done/Complete all at once. That was a great tip and since then my yard and gardens have come to life and grown. AND... It makes it much easier to maintain as well as makes it Exciting to something new to look forward to every year. Thank you for sharing! Much Love and Light coming your way from Western NY USA (Rochester, NY zone 6B) 🐞🌿 Ladybug Lane 🐞🌿 💗🌿💐🐇🌼🐦💐🌿💗
Thank you, Catherine. I really appreciate you making these videos for us. I find them so calming and they help me to relax (working two jobs and consulting for a third). It's the mental escape that I need.
I liked seeing your guiness crate. Happy days! You know you've made it as a gardener when the birds visit. Like you i relax when i'm out in the garden, which gets more care than my cottage!
So lovely to look back at how you’ve achieved your garden as it has become. I moved to my present home almost nine years ago , not much in it but adjoining fields with high banks so lots of scope to bring in the wild life as there were also well established trees on the bankings. Since then it’s evolved, I see a space and as I’ve spent time in the garden have a feel for what the area is like , I also have a designated vegetable area and grow quite a bit if my own veg, So my advice to any new gardener would be get to know your space , see what type of plants are already growing and where wind sun and rain have impacts , then you can enjoy growing the things you love. Can’t wait for spring to see what you’re doing in your garden Catherine, also it was lovely catching a glimpse of Blondie , so happy new year to you .❤️
Here’s a recent video sharing a full year in the garden and what happened in 2024 th-cam.com/video/By4vfuJiRzM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lcWwp3ClcvTrEZBj
Your ‘cheat’ for the brick floor inside your greenhouse is genius. 😊
AW, glad you liked it x
I just said the same thing out loud to myself! I am so stealing that!
Can you explain how you created that? I just love it!
I'm wondering of it's waterproof. It looks stunning.
😍😍😍
People are always asking me when my garden is going to be done. Never. Some projects will be completed but there is no actual done with the garden. You’re doing a lovely job with your garden. I added a special patio for yoga and meditation. Will feel completely walled by greenery in a few more years.
I love the sound of your yoga/meditation area in your garden, such a good idea.
That sounds amazing and I totally agree!! I said to my 14 yr old “wait till you see the garden this year” She said you say that every year & I told her that’s because it’s never done 😂
That’s my favorite thing about gardening. It’s constantly growing and shifting and changing. ❤
I recently heard someone say that if you don’t have bugs in your garden, then it’s not part of the ecosystem 🐛
What a fairytale garden.
It’s amazing how much you have accomplished in truly a short time. I’ve been working on my garden for over 20 years…still learning, still moving plants around. As our friend Monty Don would say, a garden is not a place, it’s a journey. Just gotta love him 😁. Blessings in the New Year!
Yes I LOVE that saying, so so true x
Two to three years? Only?? Wow!! You have created a beautiful garden paradise in such a short time! 💚
Thank you! Iv been here 10 years, but most of the work in the back was from 2020 x
Thank you for this video. I’m sitting here in Ohio, USA, watching it snow. I’m sooo ready for Spring and this video was a breath of fresh air. It boosted my mood.
I've heard that geraniums are a trap plant for aphids. Maybe plant some near your dahlias?
You’ve worked so hard and your garden is giving back in abundance. Wishing you a Happy New Year Catherine 🥳
Happy new year sweetheart! X
Wow! After watching your videos since just before COVID, you've made an amazing transformation in your garden Catherine! Aw thank you so so much for the lovely comment! Im so happy with how it has come along, and excited for the. new year x
This past year I have learned how much working in the garden feeds my soul. There is something about it that I can’t quite but into words but I do know that it is something I need to do. It just brings me such joy! Thanks for sharing your journey it’s always so much fun watching how your garden has evolved over time.
Yes, it is like medicine for the soul! Happy new year sweetheart x
We moved house last July and now have a pretty large garden for which I have lots of plans - first time greenhouse owner and it's full to capacity already. Thanks for the inspiration - cottage garden is exactly what I'm looking for.
I love the sponged on bricks, beautiful garden
Transforming a square piece of grass into a dream cottage garden is a labor of love that evolves over time.

Your garden is really beautiful and it is just so enchanting...
I grew up in the west of Ireland. I've lived in England 36 years now and I still remember the rain and grey clouds. 😆
This year I am focusing on a healing garden with herbs, plants, and statues that represent positive healing. I am thinking of lights entwined with lavender, rosemary and peace flags. 💗
Adore this idea 👏🏻🙏🏼

I now have some fruit trees, a rock garden, a few veggie beds and a place to add a flower garden. It’s been a lot of work, but is so satisfying. BTW, I’m the one with the 3 orphan kittens about the same age as yours. They’re getting so big now. A real joy.
Your garden sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing! I feel quite inspired after watching ☺

California!! While we have different gardening needs, I am hooked!!
Would love to see a how to clean and disinfect your garden tools and any other tips. Your videos are so helpful not to mention absolutely gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful I love it! Hope you have a beautiful year full of everything you love! 🥰🥰🥰❤️
Can’t wait to see what you doing this next year🤩
My garden lesson for this year was to give myself grace throughout this new process, as I just started a flower garden for the first time this past year. I am going to make mistakes, and that’s perfectly fine and part of it!
Yes, grace, I love this word. Gardening humbles us, Mother Nature is the best teacher x
So beautiful !!! You are inspiring 🩷💜💖💚🍃
Fabulous job !Great Inspiration ! Love ❤🎉😊
I’ve been gardening for over 40 years and I’m always changing it,I love the garden in spring and autumn. Our garden is very free draining so in the summer it can look quite tired.❤ your garden is beautiful.
Love it, I feel like we have to change to keep up with the changes in the climate. Would some herbs like the free draining areas in your garden?
You have a very floriferous garden I loved your brick stencil. That was so cool.
Delightful!!!!! I found you several years ago. Your home is enchanting from the inside out. You have learned so much!
Thank you! 😊
I always enjoy your gardening videos. You've worked very hard to create a gorgeous backyard.
You have created your own little haven. It’s beautiful 😊
Thank you! Happy new year x x
Laurie
Aw I love that you can shop from the garden! Its the best feeling ever
Your garden looks amazing since you first began working on it. Makes me look forward to Spring.
Spring is finally round the corner 😍😍
Thanks for the lovely comment! Happy new year x x
Think this is my favourite of your vlogs Catherine
Just love your cottage garden and how it has involved every year. Keep sharing you garden journey with us! 👍🏻💕🇺🇸
I just now discovered your channel. The word cottage drew me but then I saw Ireland! I’m half Irish but have never been there.
Everything about this video was a delight, including your lovely accent! You have created such a sweet garden.
Welcome!! so happy you found my channel x
Hi there
I’m creating a garden from scratch here in the hills of Donegal
There is no shelter and loads of rushes 😢
It’s quite a challenge but after 3 years I’m finally starting to see progress 😊
Bushes hedges trees and fences and now just got a wee paddock donated by hubby (farmer ) so excited to make an orchard
Love you channel ❤
Aw well done! Its not easy up there, you always get the harsh weather and storms! Great move adding lots of shrubs/trees etc.
I enjoyed your video very much your like a breath of fresh air thank you for showing up and sharing have a great week ❤.
Aw your so kind, thank you for the lovely kind words! Congratulations on your garden, may it grow year to year abundantly x
You’ve done so much work!!!
Love it! 🌼💐🌿💗
Someone told me to make a new garden each year... That it doesn't have to be Done/Complete all at once. That was a great tip and since then my yard and gardens have come to life and grown. AND... It makes it much easier to maintain as well as makes it Exciting to something new to look forward to every year.
Thank you for sharing!
Much Love and Light coming your way from Western NY USA (Rochester, NY zone 6B)

Thank you, Catherine. I really appreciate you making these videos for us. I find them so calming and they help me to relax (working two jobs and consulting for a third). It's the mental escape that I need.
I liked seeing your guiness crate. Happy days! You know you've made it as a gardener when the birds visit. Like you i relax when i'm out in the garden, which gets more care than my cottage!
It hard to believe your garden has only been growing 2 or 3 years! You’ve done a brilliant job with it! Thanks for sharing your tips.
So nice of you, thank you! Happy new year x
What a Beautiful garden 🪴
Thank you kindly x
This garden is stunning! This would be my goals if I ever got my own house :)
That is so kind of you x
Can’t wait for spring to see what you’re doing in your garden Catherine, also it was lovely catching a glimpse of Blondie , so happy new year to you .❤️
This is the best advice! Thank you for taking the time to share!
Happy new year x x
