So sad to see all these unrestored bugs. I mean I suppose if someone really wanted to they could, but the amount of work would be enormous!! Then again the pleasure it would give to restorer, would be incredible!!
That split window in the swamp makes me want to cry! I’m 56 and I remember when those things were worth nothing! Now there worth a small fortune. I used to be WAY into Cal Styke bugs back in the late 70’s early 80’s when you could put together a real nice one for a couple grand. Not the case anymore.
Lot of scrapped VW, such as a 1950, 1951, and 1952 split window bugs, and a 1967 Antique VW Campermobile. For 1951, and 1952 VW split window bugs, no changes are made.
Remember a neighbour bought a VW Beetle brand new in 1973 light blue, lovely looking car. It rusted away within 3 years it was scrapped. (North East England the roads were heavily gritted in those days we had heavy snow).
You could make a small fortune restoring these. How? Start with a large fortune. But having said that, the two split window cars at 3:01 & 3: 06 look restorable and the one at 3:16 is a canvas-door border patrol car- very very rare and the one that should be restored.

Fantastic video with such unique pics! Although I love VWs and I'm currently saving a pretty bad '60 Bug, gotta say, these ones in the pics have just nearly all had it!! Let nature take its course ....especially for that Split window Bug in the river!

...has anyone checked the split in the river at 1:28 to see how old it is?..is that a square corner where the rear decklid goes maybe?...VW38, VW39, or KDF maybe?..if so, it's worth retrieving even in that sad condition!...
I think it's like the fifth pick the black bug look at the head light buckets that one is really old it looks like it has crotch coolers it really looks like one of the prototypes the top of the headlight bucket is long on top cool old vws they all nead to be saved need to hit the loto
@@adamvx1531 Are you pulling my leg? A car with trees growing out of ALL of its windows?? I guess it can be done, but one of have to get a lot of use out of their chainsaw in order to remove any car from a fixation like that. On another note, it would be great if all of the split windows and oval windows were saved even (especially) the one in the water at 1:30, which is also the one in the display picture for this video!
@@jameswestervelt4263 No. I can be wrong but I said it seriously. And yes it had to be a lot of work with chainsaw but nowadays people use even helicopters to save these cars so what is the problem use chainsaw? Just cut branches open the door and remowe trunk. And yes I would love to see all of these cars saved but this split window in the water seems be to far gone. (I really would like to be wrong) But I think all of buses from this video can be restored.
I'm looking for a 67' beetle deluxe but I want to cut in all of the details if a split window zwitter. so if anyone knows where I can find these and the car please tell me? Robert JD Fraser

Just wrong for them to be left like that. They should be still producing such superior vehicles.

Earth is not playing. It will take it back.

...someone should retrieve it...might could provide parts and ID for an oval body conversion...

Why is it that all the classic cars are always junked. some even being the 356Porsche, the Microbus, 21 , the fastback, and so.
Has anyone ever saved any of those??

Robert F that would take a lot of work and money. The windows on a 67 are much bigger than a split
....every time a split..or even an oval...appeared, my attention multiplied tenfold.. :)
Its OK most of it will buff out, put some gas and drive it away , it's a VW
