    The bunker still has power because some of the metro ventillation and electrical equipment is located in it. There are certain areas that are checked regularly, several times a day, where the fans are located. From what I know, some of the signalling equipent of the metro is also located in the bunker.

      You can say the reason there's power in there is... only fans 😂😂

    The entry was made from Steindl Imre Street. Actually, it was built simultaneously with the metro line in the late '60s, early' 70s. Even the workers did not know what they were building. In fact, it was a nuclear fallout shelter for the high ranking officers and politicians of the Communist Hungarian Statesmen. The Parliament is just a few blocks from here so in a case of nuclear crisis they would have some 10-15 minutes to reach this safe place. Also, the US Embassy is in the close vicinity. 😏

    • @Toro_Da_Corsa
      @Toro_Da_Corsa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Amazing how easy it was to get into. They just slid under the door off the street. And sure , the next entry was tight but doable. I just find it interesting that there always seems to be a way in. It's almost like they don't want it fully inaccessible. There isn't very much tagging around here either.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the power is on because the bunker shares some facilities or overlaps with a subway or other kind of active municipal feature. The power is probably powering a pump to keep the place from flooding or ventilation that is drawing air into the active civilian facility. Since they share a grid connection, the consequence is that some areas of the bunker have power. Just a guess.

    • @Toro_Da_Corsa
      @Toro_Da_Corsa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. But it's still kinda strange how easy it was for ppl to get into there

    If you notice, many of these lights under the ceiling are relatively new. Also the 3 phase breaker & the other unit in the housing of the "old" electrics are new. This is done, to maintain the environment on weekly or monthly basis for the city. And the noise comes from a vent to make sure, there is enough air down there. Also there must be a connection to the subway. I think that's quite common for such things.

    • @Toro_Da_Corsa
      @Toro_Da_Corsa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quite common but uncommon for urban explorers to get into live power areas by just sliding under doors right off the street

    Great explore and such a wonderful companion. I felt for you getting out as I don't like squeezes. Word of advise it's always best to touch nothing but fingering around electric panels especially live ones is madness, be safe and set a good example or more places will be sealed off, respect brother. Keep up the good work!

      It's probably connected to the metro somehow. The active part with the spiral staircase they entered was probably some ventilation going on. I watch a guy who explores hidden tunnels, ventilation shafts etc in Paris. Those are all for the metro and look similar to what they found.

    Its a bit suspicious that the ventilation is active in what seems to be an entrance/exit, they apparently do have plans for the place.

    Electricity probably on to maintain drainage pumps working to prevent
    Flooding. Even if the facilities are old and outdated they are not ready to let the groundwater come in and fill it.
    not so expensive pump some water , was it very moist down there ?
    If not there could even be some basic dehumidifier going.
    In Sweden we had local Gov. bunkers during the cold war , where
    The local communes would operate
    During wartime.
    Copper thief's broke in to some of them after decommissioning, destroying electric equipment.
    Thus flooding the whole place.
    When the owners discover the problem the water had filled and totally ruined everything. The cost of renovation was so high that they cleaned out asposes and other stuf and sealed the place with concrete.
    Big waste sealing and demolish these kind of places . Very high cost to build.
