    Thank you for taking the time to show how dangerous and deceptive these plates can be (see 2:00 minutes). THANK YOU MATE!!!!!
    There will always be other opinions as to the proper repair but the message is clear, CHAIN PLATES FAIL and when they do it may cost the mast and no way to tell at that point where the mayhem might end.

    bad choice on mild steel. why stainless? because it cost almost no more money, and moisture will rust that plate, and will rust the stainless bolts. BAD choice.

    How are your chainplates holding up? What are the dimensions of the external chain plates?

    thank you for your video, will make my job easier on replacing my chainplates with external's. question; the angle from the spreader is greater when the attachment is moved outboard to the new external chainplates; have you checked with any riggers whether the new geometry is an issue. trying to decide whether to angle the new chainplates inward to reduce this angle.
