    Honestly if you want high aged Canadian whiskey buy Found North. The guys source high aged corn and rye whiskey from Canada then blend and finish it in various types of barrels. They just released batch 7 and we can’t wait until it gets here.

    You should do a blind between this and Crown Apple 28. That’s a heavyweight battle right there.

    • @tommyrq180
      @tommyrq180 ปีที่แล้ว

      FWIW, they do make a Crown Royal 23 Golden Apple where they mix perfectly crappy Crown with even more crappy golden delicious apple artificialness. Canucks like to mix other flavors with their whisky because their whisky is shiite, as I explained elsewhere! 🍏 🍁 Oh, (darn it) Canada.

    Matt, expensive low proof whiskies can be a result of ageing them a long time, as the whisky ages, the price goes up and the abv naturally goes down

    I have a Canadian Club 42, that was like 699, that I could send you a sample of. It's good, but doesn't come close to being worth the money. I got it, because we were the same age when it came out, AND I got it from a store that tracks dollars to points for the end of the year Bourbon Draft... so I did it for the points, yeah the points, so you can take that cookie... whatever

    What is 'light whisky'?

    • @Watchman999
      @Watchman999 ปีที่แล้ว

      Light whiskey distinguishes itself from bourbon in that it's aged either in used or uncharred new oak barrels, and is distilled to between 160 and 190 proof

    You can buy 45 year old Canadian club for 350 cdn dollars

  • @peterwhite507
    @peterwhite507 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    These hyper aged corn whiskies from Canada are way overpriced. You can get Canadian Club 45 year (100 proof, 100% corn) for around $500 Cad and I would not touch it for that price. I have an Alberta Premium 30 year 100% Rye and it was $52 Cad back in 2012.
    FWIW, you cannot just dump anything into Canadian Whiskey unless it was aged for at least 2 years in wood, i.e. Sherry, Rum, Cognac etc. Also you can only add in that spirit to 9.09% or your age statement goes goodbye. Not really fashionable these days to do that anymore.
    Found North as you know is probably the way to go for Canadian Whisky.

    Even at the current 'standard' of $10 / year, the 30 year only = $300. Now factor in the low proof and lack of transparency and add in the finish that the WTWT couldn't taste and you've got a $100 - $150 - MAX - bottle. Some will still be hunting this, but hopefully they just sit there being shelf turds at $600.
    Appreciate the heads up

      @@counselthyself2591 I want age statements. Three years doesn’t compete. The Canadian Club Chronicles is a good example but it’s not really good 45 year old whisky. Alberta Premium 20 is also underwhelming. Are you in Calgary? Let’s grab a dram together and argue about it some more. Lol

      @@counselthyself2591 I know of the Sons Of Vancouver Palm Trees etc. bottling. I agree that there are some good options but I am speaking out against the Canadian rules.
