People also tend to forget that Max finished P6 or above in every single race that he finished this season. Again, even though he didn’t have the fastest car, he was the most consistent on the grid.
Because the car wasn't that bad, certainly not turd some people like to make out. Yes it wasn't as dominant last year but it was still in the top 3 fastest cars most of the season.

I think Ayrton Senna showed some dirtier tricks on track than we ever saw, or may ever see from Verstappen. But we remember his greatness. Verstappen wants to win and race for every least bit of opportunity he sees. Sometimes he takes a bit too much of a risk. I don't think Verstappen would ever intentionally crash someone else out of the race. I remember Senna vs Prost. But then again... He doesn't forgive others easily either.
I think he would, but only as a consequence of something unjustful done to him. They talk about it on a 'f1 reacts' clip on the official f1 channel (search "f1 reacts: Ayrtons Senna's Greatest Moments". It's a great little video in which you can immediately spot the difference between Max and his then teammate Gasley. When looking at the 'lap of the gods', Pierre goes "Noooo waaaaayyyy". While Max matter of factly states "oh, he's finding the grip". Not that impressed, but admiring all the same. And recognizing what is its, because he himself does exactly the same)
Martin Brundle talking about Max Verstappen before the British GP last year. ”Of all the drivers on the grid he (Max) is the one I want to go out for a beer with, cause I find him extremely straightforward, a honest lad to be honest”. And this year he hates him. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The same people who say Max still had a great car, are the same ones who deny Mercedes had the best car at 5 circuits where George took 4 poles. What's funny is Lewis was still gaslighting and disrespecting Max at Vegas claiming that Max's early season car was "1.5 seconds faster than everyone else" , yet Mercedes had the fastest car for 5 circuits, so did they improve by 1.5+ seconds ? or did Red Bull go 1.5 sec slower? Also the media made nothing of Lewis's disrespect. The same as they made nothing of him telling lies about his Spa strategy.
Lewis is a great driver, one of the greatest, no doubt about it. That's particularly why it always ticks me off that he's such a hypocrite when it comes to acknowledging Max's skills. When it was him winning: it's Lewis....when he doesn't win, it's the car.....but when someone else wins, it's the driver helped by the car.....but when Max wins, it's the car or Red Bull .
Really curious what Peter Windsor's view is on the fact that Max got a 10 second penalty for holding George up in his warming up lap, while George was doing the same to Liam Lawson in his fast lap, but never got a penalty for that. Reminded me of the time Max got penalized for saying the F word, while Leclerc used exactly the same word, and got away with a fine.
It was a one place grid penalty unless you're talking about some other race but I don't think there has ever been a penalty for being in the way of someone doing a warm-up lap before
Arguably Leclerc didn't get as harsh a penalty because he immediately apologised. Oh wait, the real apologising only happened after the press conference. Arguably, Leclerc's actual first reaction was banter ("I don't want to join Max"). In fact, in his own way he ridiculed the whole thing perhaps more strongly than Max did. By implication he was pretty sarcastic. So... yeah.

Totally true about Piastri and Lando, that's why he was so down at the end of the year because he knows next year piastri will be even better as this year ..
That's not entirely true though is it . Of the race in Sao Paulo would have caused disappointment for a few days. anything Piastri looked like the guy who looked a bit down since Baku to me?
I don't think any of the drivers take Russell seriously. I get the feeling they crack a smirk when George is blabbing his big mouth or maybe fall asleep 😊
We want racing! Racing where I get to watch cars go in circles with no overtakes being done so I can lay down in the couch. This Max guy has NO idea what racing is! Maybe he should race at Monaco if he wants to understand.
I dont quite understand how Peopl can glorfiy and adore Senna and demonize Max for the being the closest thing we had to Senna since then. Ruthless and calculated
26:04 Look, every move Max makes, is conscious and controlled. (When did he ever lock up a tyre?) he was accused of ‘overstepping a line’ when in fact he deliberately took a penalty for forcing Norris off the track in Mexico, which is covered by the rules. I like to compare it to golf, where it is prohibited to pick up your ball and place it in a less horrible position UNLESS you’re prepared to take a penalty for it. So you can ‘buy’ an infringement so to say. Max does exactly that. He probably did the math the night before already :)
I don't think PIastri was in any way responsible to "think about the team" when it comes to turn 1 at the start of a race. That is the height of their competitiveness and adrenaline to secure their position. It doesn't say a damn thing about Piastri's mindset.
I think a lot of delusional Hamilton fans think he's just going to waltz into Ferrari and take over and dominate. First of all, we've seen over and over again how a great, winning, Championship driver can go to a different team and get in a car that has completely different handling characteristics and struggle mightily. You're not going to see prime, 2014 through 2018 Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, when he steps into that Ferrari. Every driver's greatest nemesis is time and age, and they lose the battle to that nemesis every single time. Lewis is pushing 40, so he's getting a little bit slower every day, week, month, and year. Now he's going to have a teammate in Charles LeClaire that is better and faster than Georgia Russell in every way imaginable. I don't think people fully understand, or appreciate just how rapid and talented Charles LeClaire is. And I'm calling it right now, Lewis won't be able to touch Charles when it comes to qualifying and single lap pace. You've got to keep in mind that Charles is basically young enough to be Lewis's son, and Lewis is stepping into a car that has been completely built and designed around Charles and his likes and needs, and Charles has several years of experience with Ferrari and that car ahead of Lewis. I think Lewis fans are holding out hope that he's going to win one more championship, and win one in the Ferrari red, but I can tell you right now it's not going to happen. If that Ferrari, over the next two years, which is the length of Lewis's contract with them, is fast enough to win races and compete for a championship, it will be Charles LeClaire that wins the bulk of them and competes for the championship, not Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclair is Ferraris Golden Boy and he walks in lockstep with the Ferrari way, and I just don't think people fully get why Ferrari is bringing Hamilton on in the first place. They're not bringing Lewis Hamilton on to take over and dominate and win them championships. They're bringing Lewis Hamilton on, A- for his star power and to bring attention to Ferrari, and B- to help with car development and handling characteristics and to groom Charles Leclair. I think a lot of delusional Hamilton fans are going to see the riding on the wall real quickly next year, probably by around race 3, and they'll end up hating on Ferrari, and crying that Lewis made a mistake and should have stayed with Mercedes.
I dont under why Martin Brundle has so much hate for Verstappen. But is all over Lewis Hamilton's junk, he can do no wrong. He really needs to leave SKY Sports, he does not deliver unbiassed reporting... I am just pointing out the truth
He doesn't. Does he favour English drivers on track, maybe. But so do the Dutch favour Max. On a trackwalk he ones said that out of all the drivers he would go for a drink with Max.
I tend to give Brundle a lot of latitude on stuff like this. At the end of the day they have to be able to voice their opinions, we don't want a milquetoast robot up there. I think on balance he is very fair to Max and everyone else.
F1 tv’s coverage of the races is better than the Sky UK broadcast that we get in the US. Croft is just bad, Brundle is what he is…the broadcast is British biased because that is who they are playing to. It’s unfortunate that most of the English speaking media covering F1 are Brit’s, hopefully that changes with increased popularity in the US. We really have no dog in the fight so it could possibly have a less biased presentation.
Be honest about Russel, he is a backstabber. It backfired on him, because he chose the wrong person to fight. Any other driver , from now on, he tries to backstab from now on, will backfire on him.
Piastri non yealding this year is a strong message for next year and onwards for Max. Perfect time to do it when Norris could seal the championship on his own
Mclarens "team orders" this season is exemplary of a team that hasn't won a constructors since 1998. And I think they may have shot themselves in the foot a bit with signing Oscar as I'm willing to bet that his contract probably has language along the lines of "he cant be treated as a no. 2 driver". I think this will prove even more difficult for Mclaren come next season.
For me it is new how Peter now, the unjustly created negativity about the personality of Max Verstappen, counters with honest and common sense. Maybe Peter also watched the Netflix series ' Senna ';-) it is like Peter says now, Max is a racer who wants to win, and that's it! Peter..... my dear, Lewis Hamilton in no way bears even the slightest resemblance to his hero Ayrton Senna.
It's also unclear if Oscar actually saw Max. From the onboard it's obvious that Oscar doesn't look in his mirrors, but in the post-race interview he says that he did see Max.
The reason other drivers are complaing about Verstappen's driving style is that hey are not able to do what he does. They don't have the car control, the quick thinking, the command of the rulebook nor the racing insight that Verstappen has to put the same questions to Verstappen as Verstappen puts to them. It is never the reverse, because Verstappen does have an answer to those questions put to him by other drivers and overwhelmingly solves it accordingly. But when he puts his question to others, a lot of them do not have an answer and it results in contact. This holds true for almost all incidents he was involved in troughout his (earlier) career. If anything, he used to be a bit naive as to the skills of other drivers to anticipate and deal with his antics. He's grown a lot since then, but is still rather naive in a lot of ways. It's testament to the enormity of his skillset that he can retain this type of innocence.
Hi Peter! I think that most of those who dislike Max don't dislike him due to there being anything to dislike him for, but because of a certain rivalry in 2021 and the fact that not only did he come out on top against the driver that they cheer for and obsess about, but because they see that he is a generational talent. The hatred and toxicity is a serious issue in the F1 fan community. What blows my mind is that it's being caused and keept alive by the very same people that are the ONLY ONES that constantly try blindly accusing others of hate, when there is 0.000% substance or reason behind those accusations. Those same toxic fans are responsible for 100% of the nonsense that they complain about being tired of seeing. Crazy...
Or, you know, he does actually divebomb people unnecessarily, just like Lewis pulls bullshit moves once in a while. Just because "those people" can be toxic hypocrites doesn't always make them wrong.
@pogtuber5146 I guess they're not ALWAYS wrong, if they blame Max 100% of the time for every single incident there is bound to be one where he might be responsible for, so if they're wrong 19 out of 20 times and that one time comes around where it's actually Max's fault start saying "WE TOLD YOU SO! HE'S TRASH!" Obviously even a broken clock is right twice a day but some people are like a broken calendar stuck on a single day, then they're only right once a year 🤣 imagine if there was $100 mandatory fee for everyone who wants to post a comment or make a video making a claim of blame on a driver, or just having some bias nonsense conspiracy accusation. Anyone who is correct gets the $100 back and they win $10, and if they're wrong, they lose $100. that would eliminate SOOOOO much unhinged nonsense. People would actually have to stop and use their brain once in a while , find logic, dig deep down into the TRUTH and OBJECTIVITY that exists inside them but hasn't seen the light of day in YEARS

3:21 I don’t think Lando will be winning a championship, not well there are “actual“ champions on the grid. Lando will make a really great second driver to someone, but based on his post-race interviews recently, he just doesn’t have the championship mentality. His Abu Dhabi post race interview sounded like a performance coach pep talk. You just can’t think like that if you are going to be a world, champion, or multitime world champion. I think Oscar will be Max‘s next big threat. He definitely has the mentality, as shown by him, not backing down on the turn one Abu Dhabi incident.
Underestimate Lando at your peril. Ricciardo was going "to end him" - Daniel's own words. That went well didn't it? Just because Lando is upfront and open doesn't mean he is mentally weak and just because Oscar is cool and terse doesn't mean he is mentally stronger: that's an overly simplistic argument. I saw Lando's mistakes in Q3 last year - this year he put it right. We all saw how he struggled from pole, he's put that right now. I am an Oscar fan as well as a Lando fan, but Oscar not backing down in Abu Dhabi could well have lost McLaren the WCC. Good job Lando carried the team wasn't it?
Everyone who always drives on the absolute limit and is able to do insane good things because of it, there is always a time when you go over it. Then they all cry, not realizing that those moments make the other stuff possible.
The biggest Bully in F1 is the FIA !! Inconsistent, using different yardsticks, I even dare to claim that the stewards have a certain preference for "mainly English" drivers!!
Wow I was not expecting some of this content. 😮 Anyway…Dale Earnhardt had it too: Senna,…Max…Lewis all have a confidence that is rooted so deep that it literally shines. They have so much belief in themselves it can’t be measured or ignored. The “it” factor is the immeasurable using adjectives & adverbs … im sure you understand
The fact he gets called a bully for racing hard and taking chances is so soft. Its part of the reason hes as good as he is. He goes for things some other may not take a chance on. People love it when he goes for the highlight move and talk about how amazing it was but vilify him if contact happens. I hate to break it to people but the difference between a highlight move and contact is a razor thin margin.
If you can`t beat Max on track they use politics and the press. That is what Russell said basicly, using politics in the stewardsroom is part of it. Caling Max a bully is what they do but it has no standing in the paddock.
George condoned Max's driving in Mexico, saying it was hard racing and they were fighting for a WDC. So why then flip around to making out Max is a bully and everyone is afraid of him? That kind of politicking and hypocrisy really boils my piss
He’s definitely talented and fast but we need to stop glorifying Verstappen’s poor race craft. Sending divebombs and the yield or crash approach when you haven’t got the fastest car is poor.
Peter just focussing on oscar is just shortsighted. That’s assuming that there are no others in play. If Rb, Ferrari and McLaren all get top cars my money would NOT be on Lando and would all be on max.

Yup..Verstappen is special, like a senna .. he has a bit extra. Unfortunately sports has become more business and less sport now. Expect mediocrity in the future in F1 minus max, Sainz, Botta s, etc. speak out.
Together with Cameron, all of us who saw this post received a superlative lesson on motor sports, given by the best teacher. Thank you Mr. Windsor for sharing what you humbly call experience, and which for me is pure wisdom.
I am no max fan. Far from it, however as Senna said “if you no longer go for gap that’s there, you are no longer a racing driver”. Will never be a fan, but he is one of greats. Up there with Michael and Lewis. All three just below Senna. Russell is a little bitch same as Lando and no where near the level needed. Charles just above them two. But all three are not the next great in the sport. Sorry Cameron and Peter but I don’t agree with you on Russell, Lando and Charles. Seen nothing from them that makes me think in the right car they can match Max. Lewis is at the end of his time so can’t compare them. 26/7/8 year old Lewis there’s only max who stands.
Lando norris can't drive wheel to wheel. He can get pole he can drive off in clean air. But when it comes to wheel to wheel he lifts and avoids every time. Piastri won't and will always beat lando just for that lack
Ah yes, so driving like a sociopath means he just “wants to win”. Sure bro. But when Lewis put him in a wall at 180 mph him and his dad whined for a whole year. Stop with this hypocritical nonsense
I understand that Peter has a ton of years in the game but what planet does he live on with some of these takes? And for the love of god is he on Perelli’s payroll or something?
Bring back Peter to discuss the new cars and who will benefit the most in both your opinions. Let me know when it's up.. Theres no such thing as too much swagger
Motivation ebbs and flows. The greats take everything personally and use it to drive themselves when others would just laugh it off. Ask anyone who tried to poke the bear that was Michael Jordan. “I took that personally” was his catchphrase.
I am and always have been with Stirling Moss. Try and win the races, all the races (otherwise they are not real races) and if an aggregate score puts you at the top whoopee doo, but races come first.
He's fast, really fast. He loves to defy limits. If he has a chance to force the other pilots to the limits, he'll do it. But he respects the rules. If other pilots have clear advantage he will accept being surpassed. Not if they try to divebomb.
Talk about stretching the imagination by hinting that Max could be a bully. Max is an incredibly fair driver who is solely focused on winning every race, even if he does not have the fastest car. Russell, on the other hand, has over 6 seasons proved that he thinks he can do nothing wrong, is very childish, selfish and has the record for having the most contact with other drivers 'on track'.
Cameron thank you for keeping us going over the break! Agree with Peter in that Max is an Omega-level competitive racer. He seeks to win and do whatever required to do so. When that takes him over the line then it is up to the stewards to call him out appropriately (and expect him to throw rocks back at times). Other racers knowing this then should be prepared tactically and strategically to respond and seek their own advantage (George made a bombastic off-track attempt at combating Max in Abu Dhab, but he wasn’t wrong if a bit over-the-top). Lando will definitely be in the fight next year, but so will Oscar and others. Lando feels he is ready, but he has some challenges as George, Charles, Oscar and likely Lewis (even though he hasn’t verbalized it yet) feel they are ready to challenge Max in 2025. Understand Nico Rosberg’s comments, but much akin to Peter’s sentiment I think it is a good thing that Lando made that declaration (paraphrase, ‘next year is my year’) for himself. Is it extra pressure on himself?...Yes, however, hopefully that indicates a competitive mindset realignment (the mental demons that plagued Lando this year being predominantly a product of him not being prepared to be in a WDC challenger position in 2024) and a notice to McLaren/Oscar that he intends to fully exploit opportunities next year. Ultimately, after seeing where the teams are at relative to each other in terms of machinery, Max life changes coming up (congratulations to Max and Kelly), uber rookie F1 injection (unknown potential), HAAS noted improvement, Carlos signaling strong at Williams in post-season testing, and Lewis yet to get into a Ferrari and harness the F1 speed force in red (agree with Peter again, in qualifying Lewis will reconstitute, but it will be relative to the present)…I mean it is going to be a really long winter break (but the Teams and drivers deserve that time off though, so I will be patient). Enough throwing rocks at Checo. Good luck Checo with all your hopes, dreams and future endeavors (wherever they lead you)! Cheers
What utter BS!! In Abu Dhabi, Checo out performed both Yuki & Lawson in the same car this weekend. Hating Checo is not a reason to deliberately try to destroy one of the best drivers 'on track'. Cameron: For 3 years, Hamilton has been hogtied by a mid field car that is not competitive, just like Checo, and yet no one is trying to destroy his career & reputation. Cameron: Why do you think the F1 reporters accept Hamilton's hogtied position but go all out to crucify Checo???? Checo has proved that he is a major asset when it comes to helping the Red Bull team build a race winning car. What can Lawson bring to help the team build a race winning car?
I will say Max has mega skills in driving the car on the limit, his overtaking is borderline aggressive and lacks skill compared to the other youngsters, I truly believe George is the best overtaker of this generation.
So are we really ignoring the instances where Max wasn't trying to win but was running people off the track intentionally, diving where he knew he wouldn't fit or be able to brake, etc... Cut it out. That's not trying to win. There are a ton of examples. Being aggressive and on the edge is one thing, trying to dominate others in ways that aren't racing is bullying. And when he can't do that, he's always 😭. Period. And the stewards more times than not gave him preferential treatment. He knew they weren't going to penalize him. They just started finally giving him penalties the second half of this season when the championship was almost over. I guess yall in the comments didn't see that bias either, huh?
i also actually believe the next big person after max or atleast a threat to max is oscar piastri..i honestly can see him winning a championship..it may not be next year but sure will win before lando
What's with Peter and Lando in Hugary? Geez! Oscar is a racing driver, he's no one's number 2. Let them race and lets forget Hungery. It would not have changed anything. Even in the second part where they had a dominant car, Charles still had more points.
You say let them race, but Lando had to slow down to let Oscar catch up and give him P1. It was bizarre, and I think it's very easy to understand Peter's point

Schumacher was also more extreme
Schumacher won one of his championships by crashing Damon Hill out of the race. But still considered one of the greatest
And recognizing what is its, because he himself does exactly the same)
Senna never abused him team like max...

@@JasperSauer At least he is concerned about the environment for all of us, pontificating about it from his fuel guzzling superyacht.
I think it's obvious what Peter would say about those incidents, lmao
It was a one place grid penalty unless you're talking about some other race but I don't think there has ever been a penalty for being in the way of someone doing a warm-up lap before
Arguably Leclerc didn't get as harsh a penalty because he immediately apologised.
Oh wait, the real apologising only happened after the press conference.
Arguably, Leclerc's actual first reaction was banter ("I don't want to join Max"). In fact, in his own way he ridiculed the whole thing perhaps more strongly than Max did. By implication he was pretty sarcastic.
So... yeah.

Where does this come from ?? he refused to give up the position Lock up a tyre ? Lando then Oscar
I don't think PIastri was in any way responsible to "think about the team" when it comes to turn 1 at the start of a race. That is the height of their competitiveness and adrenaline to secure their position. It doesn't say a damn thing about Piastri's mindset.
Actually it does; he also wants to win!
Yes Hamilton brilliant but not as easy as they think
I dont under why Martin Brundle has so much hate for Verstappen. But is all over Lewis Hamilton's junk, he can do no wrong. He really needs to leave SKY Sports, he does not deliver unbiassed reporting... I am just pointing out the truth
It’s a UK thing, apparently.
I don't remember Lewis deliberately taking any one out
Thanks for a great season Cam! You and Peter are the absolute best 🌟🏆💫🏁
No. Thank you for watching. You're very kind.
I'll argue Hamilton is more like Prost.
@@darrenjohn8524 You can't;-) Because Lewis is in no way a reflection of Max Verstappen....
13:40 my thoughts too…..Max relied on Oscar’s interest in keeping his rig safe and sound. The boy didn’t care one bit 🙈😁
It's also unclear if Oscar actually saw Max. From the onboard it's obvious that Oscar doesn't look in his mirrors, but in the post-race interview he says that he did see Max.
Oscar didn’t see max
That’s what happened
Agreed with Zane Maloney-he should have been in F1 in 2025-would love to see him in a seat in 2026
The reason other drivers are complaing about Verstappen's driving style is that hey are not able to do what he does.
HE'S TRASH!"
Obviously even a broken clock is right twice a day but some people are like a broken calendar stuck on a single day, then they're only right once a year 🤣 imagine if there was $100 mandatory fee for everyone who wants to post a comment or make a video making a claim of blame on a driver, or just having some bias nonsense conspiracy accusation.

He definitely has the mentality, as shown by him, not backing down on the turn one Abu Dhabi incident.
this is very trueeeee

Yes they all brought me joy one thing with max is you not bored with him.

Fair comments from Peter Windsor: Oscar v Lando 2024 could be the news, IF: Mclaren has the fastest car and Oscar improves!

Peter just focussing on oscar is just shortsighted. That’s assuming that there are no others in play. If Rb, Ferrari and McLaren all get top cars my money would NOT be on Lando and would all be on max.
The big issue is not if he can beat Oscar. As long as Max is in the line up there will be no other driver that will win the drivers.

Motivation ebbs and flows. The greats take everything personally and use it to drive themselves when others would just laugh it off. Ask anyone who tried to poke the bear that was Michael Jordan. “I took that personally” was his catchphrase.
Maclaren fought for the second prize - the constructors - at Lando's expense.
F1 has only 3 real race car drivers on the grid : Max, Carlos and Oscar .. the rest are rocket jockeys ...
Forgetting about Charels Leclerc, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso ?
I am and always have been with Stirling Moss. Try and win the races, all the races (otherwise they are not real races) and if an aggregate score puts you at the top whoopee doo, but races come first.
He's fast, really fast. He loves to defy limits. If he has a chance to force the other pilots to the limits, he'll do it. But he respects the rules. If other pilots have clear advantage he will accept being surpassed. Not if they try to divebomb.

@@Selendeki Of course, haha. Thank you.
Cheers
I think Piastri may have helped a little bit in getting McLaren the constructors. But what do I know.
Ferrari lost the Constructers Championship when Perez took out Sainz in Baku.
But Verstappen also took out Piastri and himself in the first lap of the last race, things wouldve been different for Ferrari had that not happened.
Its a season. You dont lose it on a single incident. Shit doesnt just happen. Shit takes time, shit takes effort.
Nice get man. Holy Cow!
I guess yall in the comments didn't see that bias either, huh?
i also actually believe the next big person after max or atleast a threat to max is oscar piastri..i honestly can see him winning a championship..it may not be next year but sure will win before lando
yeah, hands down the only one focused as max.
