29:28 You totally misinterpreted the symbolism in Seruzawa's umbrella. Also you seem to be somehow unfamiliar with the concept of Shut-in or Hikikomori what so ever. The umbrella that Suzuki gave to Serizawa acted as a representation/extension of the room, the only place he can find comfort or peace of mind in, because in that place he doesn't have to face the outside world (a by the book case of Hikikomori). That's why once Ekubo took his umbrella from him he went crazy. As long as Serizawa just follows Suzuki's orders and ignores everything else he wouldn't have to worry about feeling any anxiety. He didn't even watch tv because he doesn't want to think about what he's doing and doesn't want to have anything to do with society, his world is confined under the umbrella, and by extension the one who gave it to him. To Serizawa, Suzuki gave him the umbrella, took him out his room and gave him a purpose, but in reality Suzuki took Serizawa *with his room* instead of helping him truly break out of it. That's why Serizawa's umbrella breaks after saving Reigen from Suzuki's attack, signifying him breaking free from Suzuki's chains.
I had the same reaction when I saw the segment with Suzuki and Serizawa. "Watashi ga kita" The umbrella was both Serizawa's shelter and shackle. It had helped him get outside, but in truth he was only switching from one shell to the other when he left home under its protection. When he spoke to Mob after their fight, the umbrella was open, but cast aside. He could choose to go back under his proverbial shelter, but he opened up about his feelings to someone who understood him for the first time. The umbrella burned up after Serizawa used it to protect a stranger from the one who gave it to him; an act of empathy and sacrifice. He had finally decided to shed his shell, freeing him to face reality and society without his crutch.

you're an episode off but I do want to say now since a lot of people watching this have likely seen the final episode by now you're absolutely right, mob runs the full spectrum of his emotions in the final fight against suzuki and the anime does a great job showing with different visual cues that they've already used those previously seen emotion 'explosions', my only complaint in their portrayal is that this fight is the first time that 100% ecstasy occurs and they don't outright show it to you like with the others; to reiterate the others need no explanation because of the distinct visual cues of those emotional explosions, but I wish they did give that half second of big red letters saying 100% ecstasy just because it's the only one that hadn't already shown up and didn't have those established visual/contextual cues
Here you can really notice the difference between "nakama" and "tomodachi." Serizawa said that the organization gave him "nakama" and that is essentially "comrades," I suppose. You all have the same goal that you're reaching for. You might not necessarily like each other, but you are together in pursuit of the same thing. Meanwhile, Mob offers to be his "tomodachi," his "friend." Tomodachi is someone you like, like hanging around with, being with doing nothing. Just sitting together, eating, going places together. Nakama denotes a relationship based on a goal/occupation, tomodachi is affection and trust.
They cut out Suzuki using Serizawa as a power battery and tbh I'm glad I don't wanna watch him suffer anymore. Serizawa also likely knew who Reigen was from Mobs memories during the friendship energy blast.
Serizawa didn't stand a chance. Both against Suzuk's manipulations and Mob's wholesomeness. Correct me if I'm wrong, but just like Serizawa, Mob and Reigen met 3 years ago, right? It's scary to imagine what would've happened if Suzuki found Mob when he was a scared child instead.
Rodrigo Rodrigues The OVA announced is for an anime original story written by ONE himself. They ain’t continuing the series just yet. S3 announcement during OVA?? 🤔
@@rodrigossj100 Stop saying this, there's enough content for another season There's two big arc and two smaller arc. The Mob-Serizawa comparison is strong, but I think it's also worth noting that their difference doesn't just lie in one having Reigen and one not. Mob as a child actively sought out help, and he's the one who went to Reigen. We don't know about Serizawa and perhaps he also went seeking guidance from someone without ever getting it, but we know Mob as a child was active in trying to fix/control/find himself. As Ritsu said, Mob's strives with 100% towards trying to achieve his goals, and I think that's reflected as early as with him trying to control his powers from a young age.
Serizawa seemed fed up of counsellors seeking to "fix" him. I think he essentially gave up on himself and never tried seeking help for himself unlike Mobs proactive action.
i gave up on finding a schedule for mob reactions at ep 8 but jesus, this was a bit too late, please don't make this happen again...not with series this good at least
@@mizanulalam6041 yeah but i wish they'd at least make a little announcement like "hey guys, the mob reaction this week will be late due to some problems" or at least a "sorry for being later than usual guys" at the start of the video or in the description
Getting a little self important as a viewer aren't you? I understand what you're saying but they are people and no matter what they choose to do, reacting will never be in the top 100 priorities of their lives. So if something in their life caused them to drop a reaction a week late you should probably just accept that these things happen and it cant be helped but oh well. It will do you good to remember they dont owe you this, they could take down their channel tomorrow without any notice because it's within their right, just be grateful for what we have
Serizawa and Suzaku's relationship reminded me of Haku and Zabuza, only difference is that Haku was fully aware of Zabuza's actions and intentions yet still unwilling to change and bite the hand of the man who gave him another chance in life. His dreams and ambitions were to be of use to Zabuza and make his goals reality, no matter what they were and no matter what he had to do.
“Im only using 10% of my power! Ok Shaggy” lol
Mob ???% vs Shaggy’s 25%
Suzuki at 10%- Is that it?
Mob at 100%- Nope, just warming up.
Reigen at 1000%- Wait, we're fighting?
Shaggy at 1.1% power: Like, thanks for the warm up hehe. Time to use 2%!

I don't know whether to watch this first or ep 12
@julie martinez they didn't :(
What a wholesome ending that was.
