    Watching back, as much as I love the show it really gives off a message of "Everyone who doesnt agree with me is wrong and unlucky because they arent like me" When the reality of it is that mob is just like the people he defeats, he uses force to make them see things as he does when people vehemently disagree with him. thats not to say he shouldnt fight, big bad evil is trying to take over the world after all, but hes being a hypocrite when he uses his power to grandstand over others

    • @mx.n.3682
      @mx.n.3682 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I wouldn't quite call it grandstanding when the only people he really uses his power against are basically criminals. It's one thing to live in our own world and feel special, but they go and involve and hurt other people who can't really protect themselves. Telling them to stop isn't wrong.
      Even irl criminals can have a good reason for how they end up that way (they were starving so they stole, they were abused so they hurt others or even killed their abusers etc) but it's not inherently wrong to tell them their actions are incorrect and to chose a different path.
      Plus, he never tried to fight someone without trying to reason with them first, and there's nothing wrong in anything he said. Not hurting others, not inconveniencing others, is just how we humans co-exist if we want peace. After all, you wouldn't want someone doing any of that stuff to you, either, so doing that to other people and acting like you're not in the wrong is the real hypocrisy here.

      @@mx.n.3682 Youre ignoring the point, hes doing the exact same thing as them; He's forcing them to live as per his ideals through pure strength, while at the exact same time he claims "its wrong to make other people do what you want through force" He's morally correct because the author makes the people he fights wrong, mob doesnt win because he is in the right, he wins just because he's stronger. his final enemy makes no excuses, doesnt try and hold any moral high ground, he knows what hes doing is morally wrong. he does it because he wants to, and he has the strength to do it, to summarize the reason its hypocritical for mob to go "you're unlucky because you aren't like me, you cant force people to your will"; Because he has no actual point, he didnt win through the power of friendship, or because he was right, he won purely through force

      @@jackofastora8962 Sorry, but you are the one missing the point. The reason why he uses force on others it's not because they fundamentally disagree with him, but because he's got no option but to do so. Throughout the whole series and via his growth, he's always approached people he disagrees with with mere arguments, openly stating that he doesn't want to fight them. For example, Teru had his entire mindset defied by Mob, and though it is true that Teru getting scared by knocing out Mob and his other self humiliating him helped, he was already heavily influenced by Shigeo expressing his thoughts.
      As Mob learned to fight back when getting bullied, especially thanks to Mogami, he started using this as a tool to channel his thoughts while still trying to use his words. A way to keep toe-to-toe with his opponents while still trying to convince them that they are wrong (and of course, to stop their havoc against others). You can see this throughout his whole fight against Toichiro until he gaves up at some point because of Toichiro's refusal to stop fighting and just talk. (Spoiler: you can see this in his "fight" against Dimple in season 3).
      I think you would agree with me that, based on what the series has shown, Mob wouldn't use brute force on any person he doesn't need to. Even when he physically deafeted Toichiro, he showed compassion towards him, both verbally and physically, while trying to save him from exploding. He even tried to find common ground between them. In the end, Toichiro changed his mind no just by being defeated, but because of that last act of kindness actually made him consider all of what Mob previously said to him. Mob stops evil psychics from forcefully imposing their superiority or ideals on others using his own strength, but only after he has already tried to speak with them.
      All of Mob Psycho's main antagonists end up getting at least partially convinced by Mobs arguments. He sees the value in every individual, openly saying that people have all kinds of mindsets, and that's why he ends up disagreeing with all of his enemies, because they are narrow-minded and twisted. He defeats them with his powers, sure, but they wouldn't really change in the end if he didn't defeat them with his words. All of them get in good terms with him because of this. They end up understanding that life has more to offer than just their self-centered goals. So yeah, he ultimately wins through the power of friendship, empathy, his words, or whatever you want to call it, only using his psychic powers as a means to an end. "Everyone who doesnt agree with me is wrong and unlucky because they arent like me" doesn't align with this at all. He's someone who considers lots of points of view from different types of people, and that's what makes him grow. He integrates this into his moral compass to help people like Toichiro understand the value of each individual. It's just the ones who are extremists like him who end up getting in fights against Mob.

      @@KMPS-f2o Your entire argument is dismantled by the basic fact that he is using his power to force people to agree with him. Without using force they would never agree with him because they fundamentally disagree on everything. He can defeat them and fight whoever he pleases, but hes a hypocrite when he says other people shouldn't force people to agree with him when he does the exact same thing

      @@jackofastora8962 The key moment which caused Susuki to agree with him wasn't when Mob defeatead him with brute force tho, but when he chose to save him despite everything. This act of compassion is what ultimately causes Suzuki to reflect on his own life and reconsider his views. The defeat alone didn't change Suzuki. It was Mob's ability to demonstrate a higher moral ground through his actions that led Suzuki to reconsider his perspective. Mob didn't brute force Suzuki into agreeing, he earned his respect via empathy. He had to fight, yeah, but his ultimate goal wasn't to impose his beliefs through mere strenght but to actually convince him with counter arguments.

      One (the artist for Mob Psycho) was basically a producer for this show. Studio Bones followed any recommendations he said, had multiple famous artists draw and direct scnenes throughout the show, and followed his request to have Mob’s voice actor be someone new to the business that hadn’t voice acted before. The first thing he told them was “keep the message and over one of the story, but don’t be a slave to the source material”. There aren’t really that many changes made between the show and web comic, and the only thing they left out was a small storyline in season 3 they didn’t have time to do
