Life hack: Use a disposable puppy training pad under the bike when working on it. The plastic backing will prevent fluids from getting to the floor and the absorbent material on top will soak up any fluids that do spill out.
How’d you get to know your bike inside and out? I’ve got an 07sv650s and have worked on it a bit but I’m admittedly envious of your knowledge about the bike through and through
I have been working around bikes for the last 6 years. I’ve done everything myself on my bike and have learned what I know by spending countless hours working on it
6 months later! The oil cooler is for when the bike is sitting in traffic. On the track there is enough constant air flow it isn’t needed. Less weight, less weight, and one less spot to break
@tyler I’m building an sv650 swapped golf cart, would it be possible to remote mount the carbs using tubing or do you want them as close as possible to the motor?
@@tylerhumphreys5312 Thanks. I understand the weight and damage argument as if the oil cooler gets damaged and loses oil there is big trouble on the track... But I cant believe that a track bike would be able to do without the cooler especially since you rev it to the redline all the time and past the redline when braking into a corner... The bike should run much hotter and therefor need the cooler
@@Matthews_Media You are correct that the engine creates more heat on the track but at the same time the radiator is much more effective because it has a constant flow of high speed air passing through it. The main cause of engine over heating is stop/start traffic. Road bikes have larger radiators to allow for riding in traffic.
Hey, it dosent look like you have a seat pan either, but do you possibly know where you can get a plastic seat for the sv650? Also what year is your bike?
My bike is a 2005. From 03 to 09 they are all pretty much the same. I prefer the stock seat but if you put any superbike tail on it the stock seat needs to be swapped out for a hard plastic one or a foam pad.
@@tylerhumphreys5312 Thanks...I'm getting ready to run SOT1,2 & 3 with AHRMA at Laguna Seca. I'll be starting from the back because I haven't had a expert license in 27 years. I'll do pretty good on my SS build Spears SV. I just want the brakes to work flawlessly. I'll make up some good time on the brakes in the (4) deep trail braking areas. I noticed you have brake fade in that one race where you just settled into third place...lever to the bars. What was the cause? fluid overheat, air, pads? Thanks
I’m going to have to check out those titanium bolts for my 02! And you’re so right, the AK20’s from Traxxion are worth every penny.

Thanks for the tip!
Love the classy look of the brick walls in your garage. I know that's way beyond any point of your video, but I notice small details like that.
Noticed it too. Now I know I’m getting old
Hey you were a coach at mini… I did it a month ago awesome stuff man
Great video man! Keep it up!
Appreciate it!

Did you make mounts for the upper part of the fairings too? like near the carb? I'm trying to figure out how to put some track fairing on myself lol.
Zip ties to the frame on either side is about it lol
@@tylerhumphreys5312 Haha, guess that's what ill do to.
How is the feel with the Brembo and stock calipers?
glad I found your channel mate, what sprocket combo are you running with the gsxr rear wheel?
It depends on the track, most tracks I go to will have different gearing
@@tylerhumphreys5312 how is 15/48 (gsxr rear wheel) in your opinion?
Hi mate, how come you removed the oil cooler? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to doing this?

I don’t imagine you can remote mount the carbs.
What brand are the brake discs?
What brand are the floating rotors?
Honestly do not know
Beautiful bike! What are the fairings?
07 GSXR fairings with a GSXR fairing stay as well
Awesome video man! What mods would you consider essential for an sv650 to track, but also still street ride?
Suspension1 100%
Thanks Tyler. Have you got a 180/60 on the stock wheel and How much does your bike weigh?
Great bike, what bike is the rearwheel from?
2009 gsxr 600
Did you went for all those titanium bolts and hardware just because of the weight or something particular??
The weight savings are the main benefit. The hardware itself is just really nice and wont ever strip
Hey, can you please tell me why you went for the oil cooler delete?
It saves weight and is one less thing to damage in a crash. For race bikes the bike doesn’t need to extra oil cooler.

Tyler Humphreys ok thank you, do you know if you can fit a gsxr tail and seat on this without a lot of fabrication?
@@lucasschuldt420 I am unsure. You can make just about anything work with some cutting to the subframe. I had a GSXR tail on my bike at one point.

Tyler are you running stock oem calipers on your Gen2?
Yes I am

what steering damper is that?
Not sure of the brand, pretty generic one

This is a second gen
