I saw Chris Rea in 1978 (Lady Mabel college) perform this song on his Whatever Happened to Benny Santini tour, where his record label had him packaged as an Elton John type songwriter, he didn't play guitar all night. A few weeks later I saw Elkie perform at Sheffield City Hall, her first set was Jazzy stuff like Pearl's a Singer, then after the break her band turned into a rock band performing numbers from the Vinegar Joe repertoire and this song. An impressive singer with mastering a wide range of styles. Good to hear she is still going well.

Took my teenage son to see Elkie in Sussex, had to keep it quiet, did not go with his night clubbing image at the time. He loved her like I do. 🤩🥰🤩
