I used to be a big fan in the mid-eighties. From his debut album, Fool........ He didn't have full creative power and his producer Gus who's dead now clashed a bit on various things especially how he was perceived. Whatever happened to Benny Santini is one of many good albums and I still listen to him today on u tube. I have kept all his LPs, singles, tape cassettes and CDs. He is an amazing singer and songwriter. His voice is so distinctive you recognise it straightaway. Hope his health has improved as he hasn't been well recently. I wish him all the best for 2024.

Chris Rea is close to my favorite artist of the past 50 years. His voice, songwriting and sensational guitar work is legendary in THe Uk and Europe...he is so famous in Russia and has a big following in my own Australia. I'd go for something like Warm and Tender Love, Texas, On The Beach, Diamonds and Loving You Again...he has been an unknown star in the US for decades.

This is one of his first hits. You might enjoy Chris Rea - This singer / songwriter crosses many venues and is exceptionally talented. Has written an entire History of the Blues 10 albums. While he has 100 hit songs I am particularly fond of his album entitled "Auberge" couple good songs "Your not a number" " "Every Second Counts" also someone mentioned a song "Road to Hell" that is a areal gem.

Imadrummin - Dude, Harri messaged me two weeks into the month to tell me that he knew three of my four selections. Damn, I was like..."WTF?" So, I fired three more requests his way and he knew one those. Fool (If You Think It's Over) was on a playlist I created for potential requests. It was just a roll of the dice. Chris Rea is locked in an eternal battle in my mind with Elton John, over which is the best songwriter. Sometimes, because he writes his own lyrics, Chris lands a good blow. Then Elton hits back with 'Love Lies Bleeding'. But Chris writes on guitar, Elton on piano, it's kind of apples and oranges.
If you don't know it, listen to 'On The Beach'. It's 'pop' Chris like this one, but no one captures the lazy lustfulness of a hot sandy holiday quite like Chris Rea. The first three songs on the 'On the Beach' album just transport me to another world.
