I used to be a big fan in the mid-eighties. From his debut album, Fool........ He didn't have full creative power and his producer Gus who's dead now clashed a bit on various things especially how he was perceived. Whatever happened to Benny Santini is one of many good albums and I still listen to him today on u tube. I have kept all his LPs, singles, tape cassettes and CDs. He is an amazing singer and songwriter. His voice is so distinctive you recognise it straightaway. Hope his health has improved as he hasn't been well recently. I wish him all the best for 2024.

His voice, songwriting and sensational guitar work is legendary in THe Uk and Europe...he is so famous in Russia and has a big following in my own Australia. I'd go for something like Warm and Tender Love, Texas, On The Beach, Diamonds and Loving You Again...he has been an unknown star in the US for decades.

In the Summer of 1978 this song was big in the US-then we didn't hear from him for awhile-which is a shame-I had the album which was quite good-too bad the US didn't take to him afterwards like other countries.

Then Elton hits back with 'Love Lies Bleeding'. But Chris writes on guitar, Elton on piano, it's kind of apples and oranges. If you don't know it, listen to 'On The Beach'. It's 'pop' Chris like this one, but no one captures the lazy lustfulness of a hot sandy holiday quite like Chris Rea. The first three songs on the 'On the Beach' album just transport me to another world.
