Just heard this on 6 music and realized that I'd had forgotten about this track. I used to listen to this on a loop. Used to sound amazing in Indie clubs.
It's the cusp of the 90s and I'm 17 years old. An erstwhile geek with niche music tastes having my mind expanded and blown by something called "indie" and "Madchester". I was at college in Middlesbrough learning about TV and radio production and photography and design and I was absolutely loving life, despite being a geeky virgin.
Just discovered this band, they're bloody excellent! Can see their influence permeate in heaps of the British rock and indie bands since the early 90s.
It's the cusp of 90s, I'm 17 before spending the next 10 years travelling about on ships. I knew nothing, didn't even know enough to know I even knew nothing. Life was great, wild and free.
i smoked weed with these guys at the 'death or xmas' party at the VENUE new cross - in a small room, i had the weed they didn't? 30 years or so ago. they had beer, i remember that being... good sound - crusty, teeppee vibes. amen

someone mentioned the band playing in New Cross 30 years ago, which prompted me to look this song up, as it was all I could remember about them. I remembered the lyrics were a bit unusual. I thought it was something about a strange plant growing in a pot. Now I've actually looked up the lyrics and they are odder than I realised. They are also intoned without any passion, as if the singer has forgotten what they mean. It's interesting how songs just get consigned to labels like "baggy", and "Madchester", and then forgotten. This song is as odd now as it was then, but I don't think I noticed how odd it was then. I think I was assuming it was about drugs.
I missed out on this track, as my local area was bamboozled by Atlantic 252, which was guilty of crimes against music. However, Spotify changed that, for me.
Sociopath on the rise I love all the dodgy low-budget indie vidz of the time. It's when indie labels were properly indie and had bugger all money but lots of creative flare.
