I think it looks great. Some don’t like it some do. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s I think it fits the 70’s vibe perfectly. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I own a Lunar, Computron and Hack as a big fan of Bulova and just ordered the butterscotch dial. It looks amazing when it catches the light 👍 Imo opinion this should have been the limited edition. I’d love to see a dark green dial version. Fantastic review! Cheers
I grabbed one of those butterscotch version last month. Love it! Can't understate how great the movement of the second hand is! Burgundy is not the color on my strap, more of a deep brown. I, too, grew up in the 70s, and this thing grabbed my attention immediately for nostalgia reasons.
Totally agree! It’s an awesome watch. Yeah the strap is more of a brown. I did a short on the coloreb I pickup for it in burgundy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Two weeks ago I got mine in the burgundy tone and I love it too, it really nails that retro style, wears very nicely on my small 6.5 in wrist and the second hand movement is just hypnotizing. It also is crazy accurate, after two weeks I cannot detect any deviation at all. I bought a red racing style strap with big holes, but the bracelet is nice, too. I got a very good price, too, this was one of my fastest buys ever and I don't regret it a bit. Thanks for your review!
I just pulled the trigger on this sublime (Gold) gem. Bulova should have named it "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" as it reeks of the 70s underbelly of that era. The color case and even the band are truly exquisite and yet the watch is so simple it literally draws others in. You are so right when you say Bulova is hit-and-miss, I own the lunar pilot and it has not lost a second in the last 6 weeks of owning it. Conversely, I bought the Marine Star a year ago, and even though it was 200 hundred WR it was heavy no bezel, and was exceptionally uncomfortable to wear so I tossed it.
Just ordered one. Replacing the battery every two years: Not an issue. Most of my watches are mechanical/automatics. Having a watch with a smooth sweep and not having to wind it for two years sounds like a win to me. It'll most likely be my new dress watch. Edit: I received it and absolutely love it. However I do not understand why Bulova does not advertise the awesome crime fighting potential of this watch: Whenever you put it on your wrist it will automatically store every single fingerprint in a ten mile radius. In other words: It's a fingerprint magnet, apart from that I love it to death.
I have the silver dial version and love it. Got it from Mimo's in Long Beach, California. What they need now, is the other favorite color of the '70's, avocado!!!
When the Bulova was sold to Citizen it went to the right company. The family just didn’t want to sell it to some some holding company which would jeopardized it’s future existence. The movement was designed by Bulova but Citizen manufactures it exclusively for them. Beautiful watch, nice review.
I always loved Citizen, and now rediscovering Bulova. Love these retro Jet Stars with the sweep movement. Citizen and Bulova, a match made in Heaven for US to enjoy on Earth. Just ordered the burgandy red and also the gold, timeless and exudes quality. Aloha.
just bought the limited edition version with the extra strap from Amazon at less than £400. I have an Acutron II that is about 15 years old and it still is a great watch, I think it is the same movement and has a smooth sweep and keeps great time.
@@peteratherton897 I don't know the conversion rate, but that sounds like a good deal. let me know if you get it and what you think. I think you will be happy with it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome. It’s a great watch’s. I just ordered to new straps for it. A colareb burgundy suede, and a burgundy leather. Once I will post some shorts on them.
Precionist movement. You stated perfectionist a couple times. I got the limiteds edition one and it's one of my favorites. I have several hi end watches and i likes this more than some
My gold one came in on Thursday. I have to say. The sun catches this thing amazingly. The domed sapphire really plays with the light and refracts the details wonderful. The second hand blends in a little better than I wish it did but it is no way a dealbreaker. I love most everything about it - but I’m not sure that I’m in love with the strap. It’s not the look - is the feel. It feels flimsier than my brain wants it to be. But all-in-all, I’m really glad I got this. My wife is also glad I have a 17th watch now, as well.
I agree with all your points 😂. I wish the seconds hand was a little brighter and I want to find an great gold bracelet. Congrats on the watch, it’s just so cool.
@@DivingIntoWatches-jb5riIf you do find a bracelet you like, please link it up here! I’m not always the best at figuring that stuff out and do better with already established examples - but this is so new there really aren’t many out there
Thanks for the great review 🙏 Any update on a suitable steel bracelet in gold? That's my only concern. I'd rather wear it with a golden bracelet. 😌👌 I own the version with the black dial and the golden indices already (96B415), unfortunately only available in Europe. PURE ROCK&ROLL! 🤘
I got the Limited Edition Silver Dial Jet Star - the silver dial/red hands are extremely legible (reason I got it) even in low light conditions - I first saw the Gold/butterscotch Jet Star and knew that I wanted it but I just don't like the "hue" of the Gold finish - plus - The mirror polish bezel/case is very much a "scratch magnet" - (you can't really polish a Gold PVD stainless case)
Happened across this review today while wearing this very watch. I have a collection of about 25 watches, all but three or four automatic or hand wind models. I do recall, however, when Bulova introduced the Precisionist line in 2010 and I was intrigued. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed by the watches included in the collection. Fast forward to 2023 and the Jet Star collection was a revelation for me. Beautiful design of all three models. Surprisingly, I was gifted "limited edition" stainless steel version with a silver dial. But not before I had ordered the gold tone watch. As a result I have two of the three versions of the new Jet Star. Normally I would plan to sell ove of the watches but I find myself in the unusual position of not being able to decide which version to sacrifice. I'm not usually a fan of gold watches. They remind me of the taste of a certain politician I abhor. But in this case, I find the colorway to be well done and relatively tasteful. I could, of course, sell the limited edition model but it was a gift from a close friend and I can't bring myself to part with it. So, currently at least, I have two of the Precisionist Jet Stars. And despite my usual preference for watches powered by a mainspring, I find myself mesmerized by the smooth sweep of the second hand , the unrivalled accuracy of a high performance quartz movement, and the option not to wind or reset the watches twice a week or more. I won't be going over to the dark side of watch ownership with the second by second tick of a quartz movement . The illusion of time in continuous, uninterrupted motion is something I don't want to give up. P.S. Excellent review, by the way. Prompted me to subscribe.
I totally agree with everything you said lol. I will always remain a automatic person lol. I do own a few quartz that are eco-drive so they are not true quartz. I have always been opposed to quarry’s but this one just won me over. It reminds so much of a spring drive. Thanks for sharing. Hope you subscribe, cheers.
I love Bulovas, I have a Luna Pilot, a Seaking chronograph and an Oceanographer, aka the Devil Diver. They are owned by Citizen, but they have a style all of their own?!
I love my lunar pilot, and my devil diver comes tomorrow. I will be doing full reviews on these in the near future. They may be older but great watches. You have a nice collection.
Mine is still under warranty so that wont happen any time soon, but I also dont think the movement is anything work looking at. I think if it was they would have put an exhibition case back on it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This Jet Star line is really interesting. The HAQ movement is a big draw, especially with its (8 Hz equivalent) smooth sweeping second hand. I do wish the movement had a few more "complications" such as low battery indication and moving +/- 1 hour without interrupting timekeeping (great for travel and for DST changes if your area is afflicted), but this movement is still a star. I'm not even sure which one is for me, but it might be the gold-tone reference that you have here. Cripes, I just bought a Hamilton PSR though and I need to sell a few before I get ideas about buying another. I also love my Lunar Pilot by the way. Absolutely fantastic watch, and the bracelet is very comfy. I have ref. 96B258 which I think is what you have also. Anyway I'm so glad to see more cool HAQ options on the market that are attainable and fit on more people's wrists. Thanks for the review/show-and-tell with this really cool watch.
Thank you for the kind words. It’s is a really cool watch. A few more complications would have been nice. The lunar pilot is just an awesome watch for sure.
Nice review. Kind of wish it had 10bar and a white seconds hand…Although, put a red strap on it and bet it’d work. Have the Speedmaster and love it. But downsize the Bulova to a 39 or 40 like this Jet Star and I’ll nab the blue and white in a heartbeat. Hopefully Bulova finds direction and uses this movement and size in more watches. Enough of the 45mm watches.
It’s a cool watch for sure. I have the lunar pilot 45mm. It doesn’t fell like a 45mm on the wrist, but that is subjective. The blue white lunar pilot is 43mm. And they redid the full size lunar to 43mm also I believe.

Wouldn’t it be nice if citizen and Bulova put their heads together and made an eco-drive precisionist
It’s got an interesting and unique case shape. I like it. Gold is a bit too blingy for me and I’m not into the burgundy so I’d go for the silver one.
